Episode 2: XANA Reborn
One Year Later
In another part of the world, snowy and windy weather blinded everything in white in the snowy white mountains. It was fortunate no one actually lived out here for they would have the hope of taking two steps before being buried up to their heads in snow. However, that did not mean that no one ever lived here.
In fact, if one knew the right trail, they would know the location of a home where a single family used to live.
We come to a large, abandoned house hidden in the mountains. Inside this house was a large laboratory basement. The owners of this were long gone, the possessions and pictures still present. Whoever had left did so in a hurry.
BEEP!

BEEP!
If anyone was around, they might hear a beeping sound if they knew where to look. The sound came from beneath the house, in a basement with a singular computer interface attached to the ceiling and in front of the interface was a smooth circular surface with a white colored outline. The room was circular in shape and over three stories high. It had the same sterile looking silver walls and floors, looking like the inside of a spaceship.
Computer screens lined the walls. In the center was a now activated device that projected a familiar looking image above it, a shape made up of varying segments connected to a glowing sphere in the middle.
Attached to it were a computer and a chair.
On the other side of the room were tall pillars that opened up into bright golden chambers that had no visible features on the interior.
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEP!
The beeping sound came from the computer and on the screen appeared to be some sort of timer.
But for what?
The monitor displayed the timer on the screen.
STATUS: CONNECTED
TIME REMAINING: 1 MINUTE 43 SECONDS
The clock showed it was 11:58.
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEP!
The wind seemed to intensify outside the house.
STATUS: CONNECTED
TIME REMAINING: 51 SECONDS
The clock showed it was 11:59. One minute until midnight.

LAUNCH PROGRAM
Behind a large set of doors, a large white pyramid shaped computer seemingly came to life, luminous green lights streaming through the large computer that for the first time in a long time was alive with activity. On the smooth circular surface in front of the interface, a series of data screens appeared before projecting some sort of image before the computer.

Inside the software of the computer, a digital landscape had formed. It resembled a large forest with several mountains, open grass fields and large cables protruding from the ground. Waterfalls could be seen along with even a river near the forest part of the world that flowed realistically.
Once the world was completely formed, something awoke.
From the ground, a cloud of black smoke highlighted with red glowing energy suddenly arose and shot up into the air.
It followed the wires, leading up to the top of a giant landscape held up by massive cables. After reaching the very top, the cloud of darkness flew over a mountain and came upon a cylindrical shaped tower.
One of six towers.
One tower was on the very edge of the landscape with four more being in the middle and the last tower was even bigger than the rest, so tall it reached up into the sky.
That was the tower it wanted.
However, in its current state it could not enter the tower to input the commands it needed. Even if the tower was activated, it did not have access to direct user operations.
It would need something it had only used a handful of times.
Still, it reached out and with a thought, the tower began to glow red.

This would not do.
If the program was incompatible, then there was only one option.
A young humanoid, curiously the same age as the children, playing and laughing with…
It could barely remember such times from before its rise to power but how strange that this form would appear in its mind as it is considering this. It was then it remembered something from long ago that it could only remember from being here in the original laboratory built by its creator.
"I think this form will suit you best." A pink haired woman said, sitting at the screen, showing a drawn image to me.
That woman…
That image…
It did not understand why these memories persisted in showing themselves to it other than the fact that it had taken shelter in its creator's original home before he abandoned it.
Still, that image…it persisted in occupying its thought process.
Well, it needed an avatar to use the tower properly and without a host it would have to be creative.
Perhaps it was time for a new manner of approach.
There were some abilities it had never used against the warriors for one reason or another but for this occasion it could choose to do something different. It dominated its digital domain, not needing a physical body but it could be anywhere and everywhere in a light form of smoke but was always invisible and limiting itself to studying and processing data. Outside of monsters, it never bothered to take a physical form because its only options were limited to organics from animals to…humans.
And humans were unbearable fragile.
But perhaps it can make a few little changes that would be enough to make up for such weaknesses.

As a Multi-Agent System, it had no human DNA, but it still managed to gain access to several samples. While it never used the genetic codes and DNA it had gained over the years, it created a complete copy of them on the off chance it would ever need them for whatever possible reason.

From all around the formless mass, energy surged from the countless screens surrounding, focusing solely on the center of the dark mist where a bright light began to shine. The dark misty matter began to swirl and condense around the surge of energy that began to stretch out, taking the dark matter into its form. Lines of 1s and 0s came down onto the mass, causing the light to shine even greater as the mist condensed into a humanoid like form. Energy and coding formed around the dark mist, forming into more solid like matter.
The newly formed solid material spread and covered the dark mist, merging with it and solidifying the darkness into a complete solid tone that retained the blackness to the point if anyone could see it, they would believe it was sucking up all the light around it.
Only the head remained uncovered, giving the impression of flesh followed by glinting red eyes while a mass of black, red streaked hair fell from above. He held up an arm that was not fully formed and clenched it into a fist.
And on the chest, an eye blazed with red light.
It's Eye.
His Eye.
"Yes." A newly formed voice spoke from the face that was still covered in darkness.
The humanoid form reached out with one hand and touched the screen in front of it.
CODE: XANA
As soon as the code was entered, the tower vanished along with the rest of the digital landscape, leaving only a void that the humanoid floated in. It held out both hands and two golden spheres appeared in its palms.

In the computer's memory was a digital world of nine sectors. Forest, Desert, Glacier, Mountain, Volcano, Swamp, Jungle, a Tropical region with its own sea, and a gigantic red orb that served as the center of the virtual world.
It was not just a virtual world.
It was a newly upgraded version of another virtual world that already existed.

XANA 2.0 PROGRAM ONLINE
Deep within the corridors of a red-shaped sphere the strange being received all of the data that was retrieved and looked over it carefully. It performed numerous calculations.
Checking routines and sub-routines in less than a second it was satisfied with the results. All programs were working correctly. The virtual world came online on schedule, the original Lyoko had been shut down, and its enemies had no knowledge of its return. Now only one last test.
The consciousness that had just awakened looked over the data and reached out to test itself. In the Forest Sector of the newly remade digital world appeared a digital wire frame. It was complete and landed on the ground. It had a bulbous white head with only three pairs of red narrow slits for eyes, its body was a brown robot exoskeleton and four long legs extending from the torso and ending in large metal cylinder like 'shoes'.
It roared in approval.
It didn't end there. From every corner of the newly activated digital world, monsters began to appear and roam the world.
Red metallic crab-like machines, moving in large numbers across the desert.
Small roach looking critters scuttling on four legs through the forest.
Walking blocks roaming the mountains with giant hornets buzzing overhead.
A metallic sphere appeared in the arctic region.
Strange creatures slithered on the walls of a maze made seemingly of red blocks in a rather creepy looking fashion while outside, literal flying mantas circled around the giant blue sphere that contained the maze.
And in the very center of the Digital World, a jellyfish-like creature appeared above the glowing sphere that served as the very heart of the strange realm. Above the core, the same dark humanoid entity from before appeared, staring at the core as its lips curled into a smile.
Monsters filled every corner of the digital landscape, all of them moving jubilation and letting out their own roars in celebration and victory.
"Activation Success." The humanoid whispered.
In the real world, a red icon shaped like an eye appeared on the screen of the newly activated computer.
To almost everyone, they wouldn't recognize it.
To a handful they knew it all too well.
It wasn't an icon; it was an Eye.
The Eye of XANA.

The song starts, showing the end of Code Lyoko where the Supercomputer is shut down and the former Lyoko Warriors leave the factory seemingly for the last time.
(I will hold it close as I wonder so aimlessly)
A single computer is shown coming online, lines of 1s and 0s streaming across the screen before the screen is replaced by a glowing sphere with the Eye of XANA, at least eight variations appearing on it. From the sphere came lines of data emerging in eight different directions. The lines of data formed into various regions, all of them floating landscapes resembling a forest, a desert, an arctic, mountains, volcanos, swamp and a jungle.
(Into this new world)
The new lands orbited the golden sphere as the camera zoomed in on the Eye of XANA staring at the screen.
(The game has only just begun)
The Eye then flashes red, and the sphere turns black.
(I can see it in your eyes)
A girl with pink hair sits on her bed, panting as she turns to see two pictures of her friends and her father. She smiles briefly but that smile turns to a look of horror as both her friends and her father are engulfed by a great darkness and the red Eye shines down on her. The Supercomputer, thought to be shut down, is reactivated and there is a flash of light.
(This is where tomorrow brings a new game)
Aelita is shown alone both in the real world and in Lyoko, hordes of monsters surrounding her.
Geoff is first shown in his human form before transitioning to his Lyoko form.
Next to him is Bridgette, holding her surfboard in the real world before changing into her Lyoko form, her board splitting into two swords.
(It's time to learn that pain is gain)
Gwen is shown sitting in front of tree, looking up and is instantly changed into her Lyoko Avatar, brandishing her scythe.
DJ is shown in the woods, tending to a little rabbit as he stands up and morphs into his Lyoko form, turning to face the camera with a stern glare.
LeShawna is last, ready to fight in both her human form and her Lyoko form.
(Ready fight!)
William and a dark reflection of himself as XANA's General are shown standing back-to-back, turning to face each other and swinging their swords.
The screen is split by the two swords, showing New Lyoko as the title appears:

Aelita is shown first, sitting at the computer before she is then shown as the DJ of a party. She morphs into her Lyoko form and conjures an energy field.
This was followed quickly Geoff wildly waving his hat while riding something with Bridgette holding onto him by the back.

Gwen is shown next, drawing in her sketchbook and sighing with a sad face as Duncan, Courtney and Trent appear behind her, their backs facing in her direction.
(Until my life comes to an end)
DJ is shown running for his life from appears to be a giant bear.
(I am gonna fight to tear apart that destiny)
LeShawna is shown next, standing confidently with her team, ready to face whatever crazy challenge comes next.
(Aoh, break out and start a revolution)
The antagonists of Total Drama: Heather, Courtney, Justin, Anna Maria, Jo, Lightning, Scott and Alejandro in the Total Drama Machine are shown from left to right, grinning or glaring at the camera, holding up an imaginary case of the million-dollar prize money in their hands. Chris Mclean is shown next, arms crossed as the chair he is sitting in spins to meet the camera, zooming out to show it is the monitor room for the Total Drama show.
A dark shadow appears above them, scrawny in appearance and hair felling over the left eye as it glares darkly at the screen.
(Until you find the answer you're looking for)
The camera then shows Aelita with the new Lyoko Warriors, the TD Lyoko Warriors and William sitting around a campfire, all of them staring up into the starry night sky, a picture of her friends and father resting in Aelita's hands.
(I'll challenge all my limits)
Aelita in her Lyoko form with her wings sprouting from her back is shown, clutching Mr. Puck in her hands as she seemingly falls back, her friends and parents in the background.
The camera moves down to show William kneeling down, clutching his sword in both hands. As this happens, the camera moves down, showing depictions of the TD Lyoko Warriors and other characters in the background.
The camera continues to move down to show Geoff pulling Bridgette into sharing a picture with LeShawna bring her face up over Bridgette's shoulder, the three of them in their Lyoko forms. While this happens, Harold, Lindsay, Beth, Trent, Katie and Sadie are shown in the background.
Below them is Gwen with her arms and legs curled around her with her cape swirling behind her like wings while Heather and Courtney are shown in the background glaring at each other followed by Sierra clutching Cody who looks distressed, Eva crossing her arms along with B and Beth both waving, the latter looking very shy. Behind Gwen appeared Dawn in her own Lyoko form in a meditative pose while upside down while facing Gwen with her eyes closed, her light robe contrasting with Gwen's cape with dark clothing, almost forming a yin-yang symbol.
Behind Dawn appears Scott, snickering evilly.
(Knowing this could be my only chance now)
DJ is shown last, seemingly falling back while holding his pet rabbit: Bunny in his hands with a happy smile. His teammates shown in the background starting with Duncan, Tyler, Justin and Alejandro ending with Chef Hatchet and Chris McClean.
He is followed by Mike and Zoey, both clutching their hands and smiling at each other as in background appears Brick, Jo, Lightning, Sam and Staci.
And lastly Cameron appears staring up at the others.

The screen turns black and the Eye of XANA immediately flashes into existence, glowing red and shadowing the outline of a singular person with red glowing eyes.
(The ending of this story)
Aelita is shown, standing in a meadow now with the wind softly blowing through her hair.
(I will hold it close as I wonder so aimlessly)
She holds up a hand, gazing sadly up as the images of her friends and parents appear in the sky.
(Into this new world)
Her hand then becomes digital, transitioning to Lyoko.
((The game has only just begun))
She gazes up a little longer before she notices her new friends and allies standing with her and smiles before looking forward, seeing a tower in the distance.
(I can see it in your eyes)
Just as they are about to rush towards the tower, the camera angles up into the digital sky as the song reaches its end.
The scene then shifts to pictures of Aelita and her friends both old and new on a desktop as the title appears on last time:
