Hello everyone! I have been working on this particular story for a while. It's still in progress as I want to see where it goes but I thought it was a pretty interesting concept. There will be a few changes to Bleach as I want it to match the DBZ Super universe. I am sure all of you are screaming right now at the synopsis you read before venturing into this document and that was one of the big changes...Instead of 13 squads of shinigami, I am going to make it 12. Why? Well...There are 12 universes in DBZ Super...Make the connection yet? Yep...I am going to have each squad not only be responsible for their Seireitei aspect (science, healing, etc) but I want them to also be responsible for a specific universe. It made sense to me and it felt right to make it that way for this particular story. Oh...And the leader of the Seireitei...yeah...That's going to change BIG TIME (grins). But, that is pretty much all that will change in Bleach. Same characters, same stuff, just a bit of a restructure to fit DBZ Super and this story.

What started this idea? Well, I began to wonder...What if Goku met the shinigami? How do shinigami fit into the DBZ world? It was rather intriguing to me so I thought I would play around with it. So...Here we go! I hope you like it! :D

Chapter 1: New Resident

Goten waited anxiously for the car to arrive. While his excited eyes waited for any sign outside the Son homestead, his mother, Chi-chi, was busy preparing a room for the expected young boy's father, Goku was out somewhere training, the expectation of the new arrival somewhere in the fighter's thoughts. Being the person he is, Goku just absentmindedly forgot the exact day this person was to arrive but knew there would be someone coming…He just didn't know who exactly.

This whole business began with a phone call. The person on the other line said they were the holders of a will from some man Goku had saved when he was a child looking for Dragonballs with a teenage Bulma. The man had added Goku to his will but not in the traditional sense. No, the will didn't state Goku would receive any sort of property or money…

"Mom! It's here! The car's here!" Goten's bright eyes could barely contain the excitement. Finally, the guest was arriving!

A bright shiny blue vehicle parked itself outside of the Son home; a well dressed woman and a lone teenage girl getting out. The two approached the door just as Chi-chi went to answer.

"A…Son-san…" The woman nodded at Chi-chi. "We spoke over the phone."

"Yes of course!" Chi-chi smiled then turned to the girl. "Ah…You must be Kira-chan, ne?"

The teenager's black cascading hair would make it easy for anyone to think she was a relative of the Son family so the transition would be good for the girl, though the odd brown color of her eyes might cause a few stares. The young woman didn't speak, just nodded her head. She did give a glance at her new surroundings, probably curious about her new home.

"Goten, go and show your new sister her room." Chi-chi said to her youngest.

"Okay!" Goten grinned. "Let's go! It's this way!" The child led the teen down the hall.

The woman handed Chi-chi a Manila folder. "Here are all of the documents. Everything should be in order."

Chi-chi eyed the woman. "When you said a girl, I thought you meant a girl! She's dressed in black!" Chi-chi had imagined a cute little girl dressed in pink frills and a little angel. That image was replaced by a moody teenager decked out in black, black, and more black. The girl looked like she had taken every piece of black clothing from a gothic store and just put it on.

The woman stared Chi-chi down. "Kira's grandfather died a week ago…I would assume she is still grieving."

"Oh…" Chi-chi's tone changed instantly. "I'm sorry, I didn't know!" She sighed. "Poor thing…" She smiled at the woman. "Don't you worry, Kira-chan will be fine!" She noticed Kira had brought with her a small back pack and nothing else and made a mental note to take the girl shopping as soon as possible.

The woman nodded. "I can only assume so." She took one last look around the home, almost as if to inspect it. "By the state of the home, I'd say she has a bright future here. Tell me, where is your husband, Goku-san?"

Chi-chi sighed. "Unfortunately he had work today." This was the excuse she always made when someone wanted to see her husband. "He should be home by 7pm."

"I understand." The woman stared at Chi-chi. "I am sure her grandfather is happy knowing she will be taken care of. Whatever your husband did surely impressed Kira's grandfather enough to make Goku-San her godfather."

Chi-chi just smiled. "That's Goku for you, he's just a nice guy! He'll love Kira-chan like a daughter! I know he will!"

Chi-chi bid the woman farewell and sighed then nearly jumped when the man of the hour appeared right in front of her. After all the years of marriage, she still could not get used to her husband's sudden reappearances.

"Hiya Chi!" He grinned then promptly ducked from the impending fist his way. "Sorry! Er…"

"Well, at least you're here." Chi-chi gave a huff then turned her back on her wayward husband. "She's here right now. Goten is showing her to her room."

Goku gave a stare then blinked. "Oh…Oh yeah!" He laughed and like the big idiot he was said, "I forgot about her…What's her name again?"

"Papa!" Goten came running upon seeing his father in the entryway. Behind him came the girl of the hour, Kira.

"Kira…" Chi-chi approached the girl, and presented Goku. "This is Goku…Your godfather."

Kira stared at Goku, her brown eyes showing little interest in the bulk before her. She turned her eyes from him and said, "Hi."

"Hey!" He gave one of his stellar smiles. "Welcome to the family!" Goku looked at Chi-chi. "Say, Chi…does this mean I've got a daughter now?"

"Well since you are her godfather I would think so!" Chi-chi shook her head. "You are now responsible for her, dummy!"

"Oh…Cool!" Goku grinned. "Neat! Wait till Bulma hears about this! Oh man Vegeta's gonna freak out!"

"Did you…know my grandfather?" Kira asked him. The question came out of the blue but Chi-chi expected such.

"Well…I think so…Sorry…It was a long time ago." Goku apologized. "But…I guess your grandfather liked me so much he made me your godfather, pretty neat huh?"

"Alright, I'll make us a feast to welcome Kira-chan." Chi-chi rushed to the kitchen. "Goku-sa! Why don't you show Kira around!" She poked her head from the kitchen, gave him a glare. "And remember what we talked about! Got it!?"

"Alright, alright…yeah I remember." Goku held up his hands in surrender. "No…Uh…" He gave a sideway glance towards Goten who nodded. "Crazy stuff…Got it. Just normal stuff. Really, really NORMAL stuff."

"Good! So help me if you break your promise!" Chi-chi swore. "I'll never cook for you again if you so much break it!"

"Got it Chi!" Goku gave a thumbs up. "Come on, Kira-chan…I can show ya around. There's not much here though but it's kinda nice anyway."

Out the door they went and Kira spoke again.

"You're a fighter, aren't you?"

Goku froze. "Uh…Yeah…How'd ya know?"

She pointed to his clothes. "You're wearing a gi…Grandfather said his savior wore an orange gi…"

"Oh…So your grandfather was a fighter too?" Goku asked and she shook her head.

"No…Just a farmer…" She frowned. "He and I…Didn't really…Connect I guess you could say…There were moments but…Most of the time we didn't talk to each other."

"Oh…That's too bad…" Goku replied. "I'm sure he was a nice guy though."

"He was…He watched fighting matches on television…He loved talking about that Cell thing that happened …He kept saying it was rigged or something…" Kira said. "It…Isn't my thing…"

"Then…What do YOU like to do, Kira-chan?" Goten asked.

"Well…" She seemed very hesitant at first. "I…like to draw. Grandfather…said I'm pretty good at it…" She shrugged. "He…would give me a sketch book every year for my birthday…I'd usually fill up in a month or so…"

Goten's big eyes were on her. "Cool! Can I see some of them!?" She gave him a stare. "I'd like to see some of your pictures, Kira-chan!" His eyes sparkled. "Hey! Maybe you could draw me! And papa too!"

Kira just shrugged again. "Sure…I…guess…"

Very soon dinner was set. Kira was shocked by the amount of food prepared. Chi-chi just said her husband and sons had large appetites, of which was shown during dinner. Through conversation, Kira learned there was going to be a welcome party for her at a friend's house. Imagine her surprise when that friend happened to be Bulma Briefs.

"She's excited to meet you, Kira-chan." Chi-chi smiled. "Don't party too much…We still have to get you registered for school! I'm planning on getting you registered in the school near Gohan's work. He'll take good care of you!"

"Gohan's my big brother!" Goten explained.

Like any teenager, Kira huffed at the mention of 'school' but said nothing more. The rest of the evening was spent getting to know the new member of the Son family. Much to the shock and delight of his wife and young son, Goku actually stayed to meet his new god daughter. The girl was at the moment on the couch drawing in a sketchbook, one of the ones she mentioned before.

"Ne, Kira-chan…Whatcha drawing?" Goku was doing his regular routine of push ups, this time with Goten sitting on his back. The little rugrat was facing his new sister, who was in deep concentration.

"Hang on…" She spoke. "I'm almost done…" One more stroke of the pencil then she sighed.

"I wanna see!" Goten hopped off his father and rushed to park himself next to Kira. He leaned over and gasped. "Wow! That's good, Kira-chan!"

"…" She was quiet from the praise.

"Look, papa!" Goten pulled the sketchbook from her hands and presented the work to his father.

It was a drawing of her new family…Goku, Goten, Chi-chi, and Kira all sitting at the table. It was quite the quick masterpiece, and still so perfect in every way. It looked as though she spent hours on it, the details intricate down to the little symbol embedded on the front of Goku's orange gi. One would believe the people on the paper would jump off the paper at any second.

"Wow!" Goku smiled. "That's amazing! And you did all that in such a short time too!" His grin made Kira blush in embarrassment.

"…Thanks…" She rubbed her arm. "You…said you wanted me to draw…So…I figured…"

"What's that?" Goten asked while looking more closely at the portrait.

"What's what?" Kira asked.

"That! Those lines around everyone." Goten poked at the paper, his finger lingering at lines around the Son family members. They were tiny, but effective nonetheless. Almost as if each family member was outlined by the lines.

"…Oh…Well…" Kira started. "I…They're just little mistakes…You all..Are…Kind of hard to draw…And I was in a bit of a rush…"

"Okay!" Goten's innocent nature accepted the answer but continued his prodding. "What about the weird shadow in the window?"

"Shadow?" Goku stared at his son.

"Yeah! There's a weird shadow in the window! Look! It's all blurry and stuff!" The child frowned. "It looks like a person almost…"

Indeed, there appeared to be some black blob in the window in a corner of the picture. It was a subtle thing, one that could not be noticed at first glance.

Kira looked down at the drawing. "That's in most of my drawings I do…It's just a smudge." She shrugged. "I'm not a perfect artist…"

"Goten! Bed time!" Chi-chi called.

"Kay, night papa! Night Kira-chan!" Goten rushed away, handing back Kira's sketch book in the process.

Kira sighed. "I guess I should do the same." She looked at Goku, the guy practically towered over her. "You're not like other guys, are you?"

"Huh? What do you mean?" Goku asked, intrigued.

"I mean…like most guys that like to fight…" She frowned. "Most of them are…rude and…stuck up…You…You're just different…"

Goku chuckled. "That's a good thing I guess! Wait till you see everyone else! Don't be too shocked now, we're an awesome group!"

"Sure…" She headed for the hallway. "Um…Thanks…for taking me in…"

"No problem." Goku again gave a thumbs up. "Don't you worry, Kira-chan!"

Nodding she headed down the hallway.

Now, Goku certainly wasn't the brightest of the bunch, but he wasn't stupid. There was definitely something odd about Kira-chan…Though he supposed it was just him comparing her ki to most of his friends. Like most normal people, she had little next to none of it. She just seemed Iike a normal kid…But…Something just…was off…His senses were going haywire…Maybe he was just tired, who knew?

He scratched his chin, shrugged. "Oh well…Guess I should turn in too…Tomorrow's gonna be a long day!" He turned to head out of the room but paused.

He was sure of one particular thing though…that black 'object' hanging out in the window of Kira's drawing…Definitely wasn't a smudge.
