The ground was shaking and so was Harry. This whole roller coaster of an emotional ride was taking the toll. First, he finds out Snape is indeed a death-eater, then he finds out Ginny is the one who had helped the heir all along.

Yes, he wanted desperatly to say that Ginny was innocent, but the heir said himself, he and Ginny were one. And God if she had allowed him to much free reign that even legilily couldn't separate them…

He was also confused. Did dumbledore know about Snape? That he was one of the bad guys and just ignored it? Snape was so bloody confusing! First he saved him, then he bowes to the heir, who Harry didn't know how he was connected to voldemort, and now…

Oh the basilisk.

He had clasped Hermione's hand, dodging the blows the heir sent. He kept his eyes on the ground and just ran as randomely as possible. His seeker reflexes kept him from being hit by blodgers, they could help him here too.

He heard hissing. The heir was so angry and distracted he alternated between swearing, ordering the basilisk to kill Snape, and sending a curse towards him and Hermione. The stupid thing didn't even use the Greengrass girl who was helplessly at his disposal.

Maybe he was a sore loser, not being able to best Snape at legili or hitting Harry was driving him mad.

Where the hell was Ron and that help?

Another crash. He hoped Snape would make it untill help arrived. By the sounds of it, the basilsk was big enough that chasing Snape made it hit the ceiling and walls.

"CONJUNCTIVITS Ultima!"

There was a loud hiss of pain. What was conjunctivitis?

"you, you filthy maggot made her blind! YOU WILL PAY !"

So the basilisk was blind?

"she will heal in less than 10 minutes. And then I watch when she's ….!" He was yelling profanities again, threats of skinning Snape alive, crucio, other stuff. He seriously needed anger management sessions.

Apperently anger made him focus on killing Snape and forget about them momentarily.

"harry we need to go get help. We are all going to die at this rate!" said his companion in a frantic voice.

Harry thought as such, but there wasn't a way.

"we are beneath Myrtle bathroom, Lockhart blow it and we found here by luck. There is no way up."

That made Hermione eyes to tear up. So it wasn't the best way to break it to her that they would die here in allmost all scenarios. Tears…That made him so uncomfortable. Ron knew what to do in this situations!

"I..I am sure someone will come?" and awkwardly patted her back. It was not his fault he had not been raised in a loving family, that he was clueless about how to deal with crying girl.

So he risked hugging her. She hugged him back and he could feel her tears wetting his shoulder.

Where were those adults when you needed them? Snape was going to be eaten and then..

Another crashing sound.

Then he risked looking upward. The bloody thing was blind now, so it was ok?

How he wished he had not…

It was horrifying. Plain and simply terrorizing. There was blood everywhere. On the floor, on the walls. There were pieces of black fabric darkened with dried blood. He couldn't tell if it was Snape's or the beast's, he prayed it was the latter. Large pieces of rock had fallen here and there, and the big statue of Salazar was now lacking in several parts. Some walls had giant dents in them, and parts of the ceiling was about to fall to the floor. Not that the columns were far off . they looked as if they were barely being holded together by magic.Debries and dust clouded the air, so thick it was hard to see clearly. He wondered why he hadnt noticed, or how he was still breathing in this fucked up chamber.

Then he saw a black dot shotting from behind the a shadowed smaller statue leftover, to the left side of the beast, shouting something, secti sepera?

And he saw the snake being shoved into a cloumn, shudder and howl from the pain.

He was simply in awe.

The speed, the spell power, the sheer bravery of the professor to just encounter the gigantic dangerous animal… one who could kill with a single look, not to mention its venom, or the fangs, or the weight…

As he was standing in the middle of the hall, watching as the Slytherin battled the Slytherin monster, he came to himself when a spell shattered the stone next to him. Try as he did, the shreds of it pierced his hand, making him yell half in pain, half in surprise.

"DIE YOU BLASTED BOY!"

Oh, right. The heir.

He darted behind a fallen rock, and saw Snape being thrown to the wall by the beast.

God!was he alive? He should be! He was just..the bloody shytherin head of house! A stupid snake wouldn't kill him..

Or would it?

He couldn't decide he was worried for what more.the heir determined to kill him, Hermione who he had lost at some point, Ginny who had done the most stupid thing ever and was now a quirel-heir,or the lone first year girl who was roped into this mess.

Oh, yes. He was worried for Snape too. he – death eater or not- had saved Ron, himself and Hermione. And if Hermione was right- and she almost always was- he had a life debt to him now. Because it was not during a match, a class or even detention or some other thing. He was not an ungrateful brat like dudley.

and if he was killed… all of them were done.

Was he fearful for himself or for others life? Was he afraid for Snape, or for what they could do without him?

God. The man bowed to the heir, and he had lent him his robe, and had shielded him from the curse. He also had a long mental conversation with the heir.

And he was now laying still on the ground, after having fought for them, with a scary snake came right out of nightmares.

How he could judge the man?

"come on, come on whereever you've gone!" called the boy.

Fear, hoplessness, despare… why Professor Dumbledore didn't come? Why no-one cared if they died.

A sob escaped his mouth.

Just when he thought he was done for, a foreign song filled the air.

FAWKES!

"go away nasty bird.NO NO!" cried the slytherin boy ."you made her blind!"

Then a soft material covered his eyes, his whole head.

"now now, don't panic dear boy!"

The what? The sorting hat?

"the one and the same Harry!"

Err, how can you help? Has dumbledore sent you? Can you send a message to him? To professor Mcgonagal? Is Ron…

"slow down now, we don't have much time.move me away and Just pull this heavy thing out. All would be well"

And then Harry moved the hat,and felt the inside.

And he suddenly had a large sword in his hand.

A sword? What he could do with a sword?

"a hat, a sword and a bird? Dumbledore truly outdone himself now" said the heir with a mocking voice."the old man has gone insane!"

Maybe he really had. The boy now was laughing at him. Didn't even try to hex him.

"oh your face"

His face burned in shame. He could barely hold the sword, let alone swing it at all. his eyes searched Snape, wishing he was there, the only adult who could maybe do something.

And… the man was not there. He could swear he was there a minute ago!

The boy started hissing again "go for the boy"

Panicked, he almost dropped the sword seeing the enormous beast slithering towards him.

"the sword , Potter! NOW!"

Ha? Was that Snape? Where was he? Was he shouting? What ?

The he emerged out of thin air, with Hermione not far from him.

Did he have a clock too?invisibilty clock?

"POTTER!"

"Harry use wingardium!"

As much as Harry was scared of the bat, it was Hermione's voice that made him listen. After all, he was scared of quirelmort, that didn't mean he would listen to that thing.

He used wingardium with all his concentration, floating the sword towards the man.

"PROFESSOR CATCH!"

And by the God, the man did. He ran, arched his back and did a mini flip in the air , then somehow he was in midair, with the sword in his hand, charging at the Basilisk.

Like those ninja comics Dudeley read, and those Tv showes that showed Samurai.

Like a damn hero.

He struck at the beast, shouting something like die you monster.

Then he kept the sword all the way down, causing the snake body to be cut from where he had hitted down to ground.

There was blood, lots of it. And there was a loud thump.

Amidst the blood, dust and the heir yelling "no" he heard another word.

"DAD!"

He froze, dad?

Dad who? There was..

But..

Snape?

So he watched in horror and amazment and hurt, as Hermione Granger rushed to the fallen man's side.
