Chapter 1
The fire god grunted, "Calypso, beautiful as always, would you excuse us please my dear? I need to have a word with our dear Percy Jackson."
The God had requested a soda from floating servants as he motioned Percy to follow him with his head, and roared with anger when the invisible servants doused him with liquid in the can. The forge god began loudly grumbling about how Calypso needed good automatons in her life, and spat a few curses before swatting the can away.
Percy tried to wait patiently but the Lord of Forges seemed to be trying to discover how he would improve the beautiful marooned girl's quality of life with machines when the son of the sea god finally asked, "Lord Hephaestus, what's going on? Is Annabeth okay?"
The disfigured man looked immensely uncomfortable at his question, but sighed, "The daughter of Athena...she never returned to my forges, but my mechanical spider did. I am afraid at the very least she was captured by the Titans forces, but more likely...she perished in the labyrinth or in the aftermath of your...well better I show you."
Percy felt like his heart was in his throat as he processed these words. Annabeth was likely dead, and it was possibly his fault. Hephaestus pulled out a miniature disk that had slight resemblance to an ipod. He clicked a button and it expanded to a mini bronze TV. It showed shots of Mount St. Helens that flashed across the screen.
The young demigod stared in shock as he realized he had caused the displacement of over half a million people. He was only slightly relieved that no deaths were reported, but that slight relief was only in comparison to the distress his best friend's death was currently causing him. Hephaestus then switched it off after a few moments, "You caused quite an explosion. The telekhines were scattered which was the best news. They are dangerous enemies in large groups. You did well to displace them, but it may have cost the daughter of Athena dearly, and unfortunately that isn't the worst of the news."
Percy looked at the blacksmith before him in shock, before the god grunted, "The explosion caused Typhon to stir in his sleep. We will have to wait and see if he wakes up."
"I couldn't have awoken him? I'm not that powerful."
The God grunted again, "Not that powerful huh? Could have fooled me. You are a son of the Earthshaker lad. You don't know your own strength."
The reminder of the amount of energy Percy had used that day made him tremble in exertion. He had nearly burnt himself up that day with the amount of power he had used. Come to find out it had nearly released the greatest monster in history, and displaced half a million people. The thought of not knowing his own strength frightened Percy, as he pondered if perhaps he was too dangerous to be left alive. Perhaps he was just too great of a risk. He remembered Athena's words that were said to the council just last winter, and questioned if the gods were regretting their decision to let him live.
"What about Grover and Tyson?" Percy asked desperately.
"I suppose the Labyrinth has them now. No word I am afraid."
The feeling of defeat was deep inside the demigod, "What am I supposed to do?"
"Don't ask an old crippled for advise my boy. I can't tell you what's right or wrong. The best I can suggest is to wait for daybreak. Daybreak is the best time for decision making."
As Percy looked out over the lake, and took in the beautiful island oasis he was on, it suddenly became very difficult to decide if he was leaving. Annabeth was gone, most likely dead. Grover and Tyson likely lost in the Labyrinth forever. Then he turned his eyes to Calypso who was watching him and Hephaestus with a sadness on her face. It wasn't just a hard decision to go back, it was impossible. Percy stared at the young woman with thoughts of a brighter future without violence and war, thinking there was no way he could return to his previous life if his best friends wouldn't even be there to enjoy it with him.
"I know that look lad. I will tell the world." The man said, and if Percy didn't know any better he would've thought the man was smiling.
Percy's eyes followed the Lord of Forges until he disappeared in a column of fire. The indecision wrecked his nerves for many long moments. He had no reason to go back. His friends had been lost, and the girl he called his best friend was dead at his hands, but he also owed it to them to end this.
When he turned to face Calypso the girl took a huge breath as she seemed to read his decision off his face. A raft had appeared on the shore, but instead of going over to it he walked to the girl taking a hand softly, "I have to go back, to end this. Kronos cannot be allowed to rise unmatched."
Calypso shook her head, tears filling her eyes, "They always send me the bravest. The ones who will always go back to the world and save it."
She refused to meet his eyes as he stared at her, and finally he took a deep breath, "As long as there is breath in my body then I swear on the River Styx that I am going to come back for you. There isn't much left out there for me anymore, only a prophecy and a lot of responsibility that I can't allow to pass to someone else. I owe it to a lot of people to see this through. I am sorry."
Thunder boomed at the oath given, and her eyes widened, "You shouldn't have done that Percy. The gods will never allow it."
He gave her a crooked grin, "If I win this they are going to owe me. Just don't forget about me in the meantime."
The beautiful brunette woman sighed deeply, "I would never forget you."
Percy gave her a small smile, and she stood on her toes leaning in to kiss him on the cheek. His determination to go wavered, but only for a moment. After a short time of memorizing the girl's appearance he turned to his raft, and went forth with determination to one day return.
Calypso was sitting out on her beach as she did every evening to watch the sunset. It had been over a year since Percy Jackson had come to her island, of that she was certain. No word of victory or defeat had reached her ears, and somehow she just knew the outcome would find its way to her one way or another.
The young woman was not stupid. Percy Jackson would have the gratitude of Olympus if he won the war for the gods, and he would not waste that gratitude to come back to her regardless of his oaths. He was fifteen when he left her island, and surely his sixteenth birthday had already passed, or was coming very soon. She feared he had done what she promised him not to do, and that was forget.
As the sun cleared the horizon she took a final sigh of sadness deciding it was time to return to her home before the chill set in for the evening. As she rose and turned however she caught a small light in the distance. She turned to stare wondering if the news she desperately wanted was finally coming to her island. The light wasn't much, but it was noticeable in the dark horizon. She allowed hope to fill her up for a moment as she knew none of the gods would approach this slowly, and her eyes filled with tears when she recognized a familiar figure. As it approached closer and closer, her eyes filled with tears as a pair of sea green eyes locked on hers, and she knew she had finally met a man who was good for his word.
Thwack, thwack, thwack.
A young man that appeared eighteen years of age stood shirtless with a wooden stick in his hands. The man was well chiseled with muscle, and his hair was neatly scissored yet still long enough to look rugged in a way. His sea green eyes shined with focus as he went in to attack the tree again. He was sweating hard after hours of being in the same spot beating on the same tree. The man heaved for breath as he began to slow down analyzing the small divots he had made. They were acceptable, but he could tell his heart wasn't as in his training as it should have been.
Before he could contemplate what he should do next a familiar pair of hands snaked around his waist and kissed his shoulder gently, "Done for the day my love?"
The young man smiled as he turned to face the beautiful chestnut haired woman who in appearance was somewhere around eighteen years old, but in reality was much older, "I think so. Shall we go back? I can make us dinner."
The smile was returned instantly, "It's already waiting for you."
The green eyes met light brown as he placed a gentle hand on her cheek kissing her on the head as he walked by, "Don't know where I'd be without you."
She grinned at him as she wrapped an arm around his waist as they walked back towards the home the two had built together, "I'd guess either a God on Olympus, being the greatest hero of all time, or a play thing for what's left of my family trying to take revenge on you for winning the war."
Percy snorted at her words. It was a long running joke between the two that when they married one day Kronos would be Percy's uncle, and that Atlas would be his father-in-law. The thought had made the two burst out into laughter on multiple occasions, but Calypso's eyes always seemed to shine brighter when they talked about their future together. Neither were under the illusion that they were ever getting off of Ogygia, and the two were content with that. They had each other, and that was more than the gods of Olympus ever could have given them.
Speaking of the gods of Olympus the two had not received a visitor in the years that Percy had lived there. The silence of Olympus was about the best they could expect from the situation. When Percy had won the war he was offered Godhood, but turned it down for a few smaller requests. The first being a pardon for all the demigods and minor gods who fought on the wrong side of the War. His hope was that the vicious cycle could end on this go around instead of letting it continue to build, and lead right into the next conflict. The goddess of wisdom herself saw the intelligence in his requests, and helped spearhead the council into agreement for his first request. His next however had shocked Olympus. He had a desire to see Calypso freed from her island, but Zeus had point blank refused. No matter how much prodding the rest of the council did he would not free the girl, but promised Percy another wish in its place. It was then decided if she could not be released then he would join her instead in exile. This was a wish Zeus was all too happy to accept, and didn't even bother putting it to a vote. With a snap of his fingers Percy was back on the raft floating in the ocean.
The young man had wished he had gotten to say goodbye to his friends, but he hoped they would all understand. With the death of Annabeth he had never been the same. He trained like a force of nature everyday upon his return from Ogygia. He refused to go back to school, and had Chiron push him harder than any hero before him. He was turned into the sharpest knife the trainer of heroes could forge, and it showed in the Battle of Manhattan.
Of course Percy couldn't say all the success was thanks to Chiron. Nico Di Angelo had been the one to lead him into the Underworld, and to the River Styx. It was there where he truly turned into the most dangerous demigod to ever live. He even forgave Nico for tricking him into the Underworld for information on his family. The Heavens know he might have done the same had their situations been reversed.
It was the two teens' best hope that the gods would leave them alone for the rest of eternity so they could live their lives together in peace. Calypso had held onto the fact that perhaps Olympus would one day need Percy again, and with that they could negotiate their release into the world, but neither were holding their breath.
Time was different in Ogygia. The couple knew that at minimum a five years had passed on the island since Percy's arrival. Calypso had guessed that it was more likely six or seven had passed though, and he was probably about twenty one or twenty two at this point but it was remotely possible that while years may have passed at their location the real word could've had only days pass, or possibly even years, centuries. There was no way of knowing until a visitor arrived if one ever did.
As Percy and Calypso sat down at dinner across from one another, the young man smiled at the meal before him. Potatoes, green beans, and some type of cow meat. They often ate the same meals as the food variety wasn't much in Ogygia. All the vegetables Calypso grew herself, and in turn taught Percy to tend the garden though he didn't take much of a liking to it. Instead he usually raised, bred, and eventually turned the cattle into meals for special occasions.
This isn't the life he imagined when he had trained to be a hero, but it was the peace he often prayed for in their year apart. Percy and Calypso spoke of many things in their years together on the island, but one topic that quickly grew to be off limits was the Great Prophecy. Calypso had confessed to Percy that she had once heard the fate of a hero that would reach sixteen against all odds from Lord Hermes. The man had apparently come to her when Luke Castellan's mom went insane after trying to become the next Oracle of Delphi. She also confessed that she had no idea that the hero of the Great Prophecy could've been him when he had left her the first time. She didn't even know he was a son of Poseidon until she saw what he had done at Mount St Helens when Hephasteus was showing him the news.
The two had briefly theorized that the gods of Olympus let him stay on the island because he was clearly too powerful to walk free in the mortal world. Killing him would've possibly caused a Civil War on Olympus, and though she was certain Lord Zeus would've preferred Calypso's exile to remain solitary he preferred granting Percy's wish and avoiding the wrath of his brothers for killing the Hero of Olympus.
"Something on your mind Perseus?" Calypso asked gently.
The young man began cutting into his food, shaking his head, "It's nothing."
The young woman sighed, "You know I won't push, but we are all each other has. I just want to make sure you are okay."
Percy put down his fork and knife and took her hand that was resting on the table, "Calypso it's nothing. I just wish I had a monster to fight with every now and then. I have told you a million times I love our life here, together. I love our home, and I love our island. Occasionally I just long to fight the good fight."
Her face lit up when he talked about their home, and didn't lose any of the glow when he said he wished he could fight monsters, "Perhaps it's time for me to shake off the rust, and do some training with you. I may not be a monster, but I think as a Titaness I could at least make your life more interesting."
The young man's eyes shot up at this, "Calypso you really don't have to do that. I promise I am okay."
She shook her head, never letting the smile slip from her face as she put her extra hand on top of the one that was holding hers, "Percy, you gave up everything to stay here with me. You could've been a God of Olympus, but you chose to come here and be with me. You help me take care of the gardens even though I know you don't care much for it, and you help with the cattle which I certainly never cared about unless I had guests. I think me practicing swordplay a few times a week isn't really asking for much. Besides, with you cutting most of my chores down, I have found myself with too much time on my hands."
Percy gave his signature lopsided smile, "We could always build the house again."
This made the girl laugh musically as they finally released hands, and the young woman dug into her food. Percy stared at the gorgeous brown haired girl as she began eating with grace, "I love you."
She looked back at him with so much love it made his chest hurt, "I love you too Percy."
She looked the same as the day they first met. Caramel hair braided over one shoulder, and dark almond shaped eyes with a face that appeared as timeless as ever. Her white sleeveless Greek dress was as stunning as ever, and he knew he would do anything for the young woman before him.
Percy ducked under a powerful strike at his head and jumped over a second attack that would've taken out his knee. Calypso pushed further with her two sticks aggressively as he attempted to position himself closer to the water so he could push his strengths to match that of the immortal Titaness. The couple had been sparring for a few years now, and ever since Percy had been training harder and harder to keep up with the powerful woman.
Calypso grinned at the man she loved, "Not bad Perseus, but you will have to be faster."
The smile on Percy's face would've been near unrecognizable to his friends back at Camp Half-Blood because he had never been happier in his life as he had been with Calypso these past few years. She saw how much he loved to train, and when she picked up weapons for the first time in three millenia, she remembered how much she once loved the feel of combat. Being a peaceful Titanness may have meant that she didn't seek to hurt people, but with her father being Atlas that meant she was certainly capable. That was something Percy had learned very quickly in their time together.
Percy dove forward trying to take the offensive with his long wooden stick, but Calypso's speed was unnatural as she dodged, and then shoulder checked him hard making him stumble backwards. When he recovered she was smiling at him cheekily, and he merely shook his head, resetting his battle stance thinking how lucky he was.
He attempted to hit her with a blast of water before surging forward, but the girl's magic was faster than he could process as she dissolved it, blocked his strike, and returned it with three of her own. They battled back and forth for over half an hour. Neither attempting to injure the other, but relishing in the feel of battle.
When it was over Calypso swept out his feet with a blast of air that came from below him, and pinned his forearm with one of her sticks. She put a foot on his chest standing over him in the sand, "Yield."
He grinned at her as the water rushed up to his back below him in the sand, "Not yet my love."
Percy held his hand out and a long three foot ice shard appeared in his hands, and he swiped at her foot that was on his chest making her fall on top of him. The two grappled for a moment before Calypso overpowered the son of the seas again holding her stick across his throat, "Your determination is admirable Percy, but I have won this round."
Grinning, the boy nodded his head at her, "You're right. I yield."
She smiled at the young man and instead of climbing off him she dropped her stick and kissed him soundly. Neither could tell you how much time had passed, but it was the best life they could imagine with the cards they had been dealt.
(A/N) Welcome to my side project! I am not going to lie, updates are going to be pretty slow. This is taking a side seat to both The Survivors, and The Rise of House Neptune, but this has been in the works for a while. I mostly wanted to get this out there to build a following, because this is likely to be my longest work yet as I span through all three phases of the MCU, but things will really heat up and extend in Phase 3.
I have a Harry PotterXAvengers Crossovers that is more developed than this, but we will see where this takes us before I think about sharing that one. Thanks for tuning in, and Happy Birthday Percy!
This chapter was Beta approved by Monaxia! Thanks for your help on this. 7 Chapters into this story so far, and we will see where we go from there.
