Live long and prosper my friends! I am back with a new chapter of this story. Just so you know, this one took a while to get finished so i really hope you guys enjoy it.
"Captain's log, Stardate 5950.7. What was supposed to be a routine scouting mission has become something much more dangerous. Shortly after landing on the planet, we encountered two miniature sized women who said they were expecting us. And they also informed us that the Klingons were on the planet. Before we could inquire further, we had to escape from three giant praying mantises. And our salvation came in the form of a giant reptilian whom the small twins refer to as Godzilla. Now they are guiding us to a safe place where we can discuss our current situation.
The landing party had been mostly silent as they walked in the forest, like they weren't sure what to make of what they had seen. Kirk was contemplating everything he had seen, McCoy was grumbling about them being stranded on an unknown planet (again), Sulu was constantly looking over his shoulder for any other giant creatures that were out there and Mr. Spock was being his usual quiet self.
The Shobijin were being carried in Captain Kirk's hands as they guided them through the forest. Soon they came to a cliff wall with a large boulder in front of it.
"We are here." They said as Kirk placed them on the ground. Before the group could question them on why they were there, the bushes around them started rustling and several tribesmen appeared and surrounded them. While most of the landing party were surprised, Kirk kept his calm, but Sulu and McCoy pulled out their phasers. The tribesmen raised their spears at the two, but before a conflict started Kirk said, "Stand down, we don't want a fight."
At the same time, the Shobijin said to the tribesmen, "Don't be alarmed, these are our guests. They are here to help us."
There was a moment of tension before McCoy and Sulu put away their phasers and the tribesmen lowered their spears.
"Sorry captain, old habits." Sulu said sheepishly.
"It's okay Mr. Sulu." Kirk replied.
Two tribesmen walked up to the boulder and pushed it out of the way to reveal an entrance. The Shobijin walked over to said entrance where another tribesman picked them up in his hands. The two sisters turned to the landing party and said, "Come, there's much we need to discuss." before the tribesman walked into the tunnel entrance.
Kirk and the others followed suit. They were walking for a few minutes in the tunnel before walking into a large chamber. There were straw houses along the walls, probably built from materials outside. There were several torches on the walls that illuminated the chamber. There were also several levels with different holes which probably led to different tunnels.
As the landing party walked into the chamber, they found themselves the subject of curiosity by the tribespeople. Several men, women and children looked at the strangers that clearly seemed out of place with looks of wonder and apprehension (mostly aimed at Mr. Spock due to his ears).
The landing party weren't too surprised by this as they had encountered a few tribal civilizations in the past, although they were still curious about how these people could survive on a world with such large creatures on it.
The Shobijin guided them to the largest hut in the far end of the chamber. They walked in and were told to seat themselves at the table in the middle of the room, which the Shobijin were simply placed upon said table.
"Would you like something to drink?" They asked the landing party, just as two men came in to the hut. One carrying several primitive mugs and one with an urn who filled up said mugs with what appeared to be water.
Mccoy and Sulu were a bit skeptical to drink something from people they've only just met, but Kirk said, "Gentlemen, it would be most inhospitable to refuse a drink from out hosts."
Mr. Spock took out his tricorder and scanned the liquid. "It's completely normal water captain." Spock said as he put away his tricorder and turned to McCoy "There are no traces of any drug, if that's what you were concerned of doctor."
McCoy looked at the cup before picking it up and taking a few sips, Kirk, Spock and Sulu doing the same thing. Once the landing party had all taken a sip, Kirk turned to the two small women and asked, "Okay, let's start simple: who are you people?"
"They are the Iwi." The Shobijin answered. "They have been living on this planet almost as long as we have."
"Almost as long?" Kirk questioned. "How long exactly?"
"About several million years." They answered simply.
The group were surprised to hear this and McCoy asked, "What so all you people are immortal?"
The two women shook their heads and said, "No only we are immortal, the Iwi people have the same lifespan as humans."
"But how is that possible?" McCoy questioned. "Aside from your size you're look completely human. How are you...?"
"I feel the need to remind you doctor that we've encountered several other supposedly immortal lifeforms in the past, or have you simply forgotten?" Mr. Spock interrupted McCoy's questioning. Who grumbled at having been interrupted.
Kirk coughed into his hand, "Well then, umm what can you tell us about the things that attacked us?"
"The giant mantises are called Kamacuras and are one of many of the Kaiju who live on this planet." the two girls answered.
"Kaiju?" Kirk questioned, not being familiar with the word.
"I've heard of it captain." Sulu said. "It's a Japanese word, it means giant monster or strange beast."
"Yes. The Kaiju have lived on this planet much longer than we have." The Shobijin said while a few tribesmen came in from another room and placed several scrolls on the table, which the crew looked at to see several drawings of many different Kaiju. There was one drawing of the Kamacuras they encountered earlier, one drawing of what looked like a pterodactyl, and one drawing of a creature similar to an ankylosaurus.
But the crew's attention was drawn to the drawings placed in the middle of the table. One was of what looked like a giant butterfly or a moth, and the other was off the very creature who had saved them from the Kamacuras, Godzilla.
"For a long time, the Kaiju have always lived by the same rule as most animals, that being the strongest would survive." The Shobijin explained. "But several million years ago, a Kaiju was born who would rise above all the others and claim himself the leader of all Kaiju: Godzilla, the king of the monsters."
"You refer to Godzilla as 'the king', can I assume that means he rules over all the Kaiju?" Mr. Spock asked curiously.
"We'll I'd think that would be obvious." McCoy grumbled.
"Your sarcasm is not appreciated doctor." Mr. Spock replied.
"Yes, you are correct." The Shobijin answered. "Godzilla has maintained order over all Kaiju for millions of years. He challenged and beat all the other Kaiju who ever walked the earth of this planet. All the Kaiju bowed down to him either out of fear or out of respect and he gained several allies who helped keep order on this planet."
"So, umm... is that one of Godzilla's allies?" Sulu asked nervously while pointing at the drawing of the moth.
"Yes, that is Godzilla's most trusted and loyal ally, Mothra, queen of the monsters."
That took most of the crew by surprise. "Queen?" Kirk asked confusingly. "How is that possible?"
"Why are you surprised captain." Spock asked. "There are several different species in the universe who have formed symbiotic relationships with each other."
"You make a fine point as always Mr. Spock." Kirk said before turning to the Shobijin once more. "Earlier you said that the Klingons were digging for something, what are they digging for?"
The two girls looked at each other with worried faces before turning to one of the tribesmen and nodded to him. He nodded back and went into another room before coming back with a much larger scroll than the others. The landing party set aside the other scrolls for the big one. The tribesman set down the scroll and opened it. The landing party looked at the image on the scroll and most recoiled in fear. There was something strange and frightening about the image on the scroll, almost like it had been cursed by the devil himself.
"W... what... what is that!?" Sulu stammered out.
"Godzilla may be the king, but a long time ago, there came one Kaiju powerful enough to challenge him." The Shobijin said grimly. "This is King Ghidorah, the golden demise."
On the scroll was a picture of a three-headed dragon with two tails, its wings spread wide and lightning dancing all around it with Godzilla, Mothra and a few other Kaiju standing in defiance to this great evil.
In the forest, the shuttlecraft the landing party had come in was still standing where they had left it. The silence of the area was broken when several forms came out of the foliage. The forms were revealed to be Klingons, a group of sixteen of them stood in the clearing and gazed at the shuttle.
The leading Klingon pulled out a communicator and said, "Captain Koloth, we have found the Enterprise shuttle."
"Good." came a reply from the communicator. "Is the shuttle's landing party nearby?"
One of the other Klingons scanned the shuttle and the surrounding area with a tricorder. After checking the results, he turned to the lead Klingon and shook his head.
"Negative." The head Klingon said "They are nowhere in the area."
"Very well. Search for them, we don't want any complications when were so close to our goal. And hopefully they'll lead us right to 'them'."
"Understood." the head Klingon said before turning to the others and said, "You heard the captain! Spread out and search, for the honor of the empire!"
"For the honor of the empire!" the rest of shouted with fists raised before spreading out and beginning the search for the landing party.
"Captain's log, Stardate 5950.7. first engineer Scott reporting. A normal scouting mission of an unknown planet has turned into a mission of survival. We find ourselves surrounded by three Klingon ships and captain Kirk along science officer Spock, doctor McCoy and helmsmen Sulu are stranded on the unknown planet with no hope of reaching us. Currently, the Klingons have made no move to attack us, but I fear that's going to change soon."
Once he finished his log entry, Mr. Scott thought about what could be done about the situation.
"We can't beam down due to the interference, and we can't engage in a battle with three Klingon ships without being destroyed in the process. But what if we..."
"Mr. Scott!" Uhura shouted from her station, interrupting his thoughts. "We've received a message from one of the ships. They're going to send a few guards aboard ship and 'request' that you accompany them down to the planet."
This confused most of the officers on the bridge.
"What would they want with Mr. Scott?" Chekov asked, both confused and worried for his friend and superior officer.
"I'm not sure, but I'm betting it has something to do with what they're doing down there. Probably know about my reputation with engineering and they want me to help them I suppose."
"But you're not actually going to agree to it, right?" Chekov asked uneasily.
"I'm not sure I've got much of a choice lad." Scott said grimly. He thought about what they could want him to do when he got an idea.
"But Mr. Scott." Uhura tried to dissuade him. "There's no guarantee that they'll keep you alive down there. They could just be luring you out of the ship to..."
"If they wanted me dead, they would have blown me up with the Enterprise some time ago." Mr. Scott interrupted. "And besides, I have a plan."
"You do?" Chekov and Uhura said simultaneously.
"Aye." Mr. Scott confirmed. "If my guess is right, then it's those Klingons that are responsible for the planet-wide interference. If they bring me down there, I can find whatever's creating it and shut it down."
"And if you can't?" Uhura questioned.
"Then I'll find some way to escape and hopefully contact the captain." Mr. Scott replied. While he knew that it would be difficult, he had to do something instead of waiting for something to happen.
"But Mr. Scott." Chekov stammered in concern. "If something were to happen..."
"Something has already happened!" Scotty interrupted. Looking at the bridge crew sternly he said, "We can't do anything up here, but I might be able to do something down there, and unless one of you has a better suggestion, I'm going down there!"
No one said anything and Scotty took that as his cue to leave.
"Uhura, tell those Klingons that I'll meet them in the transporter room." Scotty said before walking to the turbolift.
"Uh, yes Mr. Scott." Uhura said unsurely, yet she did as Mr. Scott requested, despite her and everyone's worries for his safety.
Two Klingon soldiers were walking through the forest, searching for the Enterprise's landing party when one of them suddenly read a lifeform on his Tricorder.
"There's a lifeform right in front of us." He said to his comrade. They both took out their phasers and pointed them around the area. Before they could react, one of the Iwi people jumped out of the bushes and tackled on of the Klingons, sending them both to the ground.
The Iwi tried to stab the Klingon with a blade but the Klingon soldier's superior strength allowed him to grab the blade and push him of. The man turned to run away but was tackled by the other Klingon and subdued. The one that was attacked got up and pointed his phaser at the native man that attacked him and was about to shoot him when his comrade said "Bekk Korg, stand down!"
Confused at what his comrade had said, he was about to demand an explanation for his comrade's insubordination when he said, "If you kill him, we will have a harder time locating Captain Kirk and his followers. Maybe he can make our search easier." Ending his sentence with pulling the man off his feet and pining him to a nearby tree.
"I suggest that if you want to keep your life, you will show us where Kirk is hiding." The soldier said while pointing his phaser at the man. He looked at the Klingons in fear before his eyes shifted to his right for a second. The two Klingons saw this however and looked in that direction before turning back to their prisoner.
"Are they hiding somewhere over there?" Korg asked him, to which he nodded in fear
"Good." Korg said before turning to his prisoner. "Lead the way." he demanded before pulling him in front of the two and pointing his phaser in the man's back. The man fearfully started walking towards his village despite his fear for his own people.
The group almost couldn't believe what they had heard. To think that there was another creature out there who could stand up to Godzilla was hard to accept. While they hadn't seen him fight, they still couldn't imagine that anything could stand up to a being of Godzilla's size.
"What do you mean?" Kirk asked the Shobijin, who still looked grim at having to mention Ghidorah.
"Godzilla has retained his title as King for a long time, but over the years there have been several others who have tried to claim that title for themselves."
"And Ghidorah was one of them?" Sulu asked.
The two nodded "Yes, but he was different from all the others who had tried to challenge Godzilla. He came from beyond the stars, from another galaxy."
"You mean he's not a native of this planet?" Spock questioned.
"No, he wasn't. But that is what made him dangerous. When Ghidorah first arrived on this planet, he upset the natural order and brought terrible havoc wherever he went. He has no compassion, he can't be reasoned with, his only desire is too spread destruction. Most Kaiju sensed his great power and believed that he could actually beat Godzilla, and so they took his side in the conflict. But Godzilla still had a few loyal allies to help him in his fight against Ghidorah.
"Such as Mothra." Sulu said.
"Yes." The Shobijin answered. They turned to look at the drawing of Ghidorah with looks of fear but also hatred.
"Their battle was so great that Godzilla almost lost his life, but thanks to his allies help, he was able to defeat Ghidorah and Mothra was able to seal him away in the arctic regions of the north. And he has remained there ever since."
"And now the Klingons are trying to awaken him?" Kirk asked to which the Shobijin nodded. "But for what purpose? If Ghidorah is as powerful and dangerous as you say, surly he wouldn't listen beings that should be beneath him?"
"It is possible that they've found some way to control him captain." Spock suggested.
"That is a very horrifying possibility." the Shobijin said.
They all sat in silence contemplating what had been said. If the Klingon had some way of controlling Ghidorah, they could have a weapon that could level the entire Federation. Not without a fight, but the casualties would be enormous.
"But wait." McCoy said. "If the Klingons have been digging for Ghidorah for some time now, then why hasn't Godzilla or one of the other Kaiju done something about it?"
"Because they are afraid that, if they attempt to wipe out the Klingons, they might accidentally awaken Ghidorah."
"What do you mean?" Kirk asked in confusion.
"The Klingons are right now at Ghidorah's tomb and attempting to awaken him. But they can't do it themselves. Ghidorah can sense the presence of other Kaiju, and if Godzilla or anyone else tries to deal with the Klingons, then they might awaken him in the process."
"So, what you're saying is that the Kaiju don't want to risk awakening Ghidorah?" McCoy questioned. "But then, what happens if the Klingons find some way to awaken him?"
"Then all Kaiju on this planet will have to choose a side in the coming conflict. Godzilla will most certainly try and finish Ghidorah once and for all, while Ghidorah will continue his mission of destruction."
"Providing that the Klingons haven't found some way of controlling him." Spock added.
"Yes." The Shobijin answered.
The landing party sat quietly and contemplated their situation. This was a very serious situation. If the Klingons awakened Ghidorah, he could lay waste to the entire planet, and it would be even worse if the Klingons could control Ghidorah.
"So, what do we do captain?" Sulu asked. The others turned to him, wondering what sould be done with everything they've learned.
Before Kirk could answer, the ground started to shake again. Bottles and other junk fell from the shelves as the ground continued to shake. The tremor felt a lot stronger than last time and a lot nearer as well. As soon as the shaking had stopped, the Shobijin looked at each other in alarm.
"Mothra!" they shouted before jumping down from the table before running out the door. The landing party exchanged glances before following after them.
Mr. Scott had agreed to come aboard the Klingon vessel in hope of finding out what's happened to the captain. A task that would be most difficult given that Koloth had placed a few guards to watch him as the ship landed. One of the guards tossed him an outfit that looked like a winter jacket.
"Put that on." he said sharply.
Begrudgingly, Scotty complied, despite that the smell of Klingon was all over it. He reminded himself to take a shower when this was all over.
"Oh, don't look so upset Mr. Scott." Koloth said to him as he prepared his own clothes. "Trust me, you're going to need that."
Before Scott could question him, he was answered by the ramp opening up and a cold wind hitting him in the face. As he was led down the ramp, Scott could see that the ship had landed in a snowy area, likely on the north or south pole of the planet.
Looking around, he saw several Klingon soldiers walking around and several more ships as well. He must have been walking a little slower while he was looking around as one of the guards hit him on the shoulder with his phaser.
"Keep moving." the guard said sternly. Scotty gave a glare at him before he increased his pace to keep up with Koloth and the guards.
They kept walking through the facility until they reached an elevator. As the elevator started moving downwards, Koloth said, "It took us quite a while to build this place, but you can't achieve anything in this galaxy without a little hard work, as I'm sure you know, Mr. Scott."
"Aye, I know that all too well. But what I want to know is what you are doing here?"
Koloth smirked and said, "Patience, Mr. Scott. You'll find out soon enough."
Scotty felt uncomfortable about what he was about to see, but kept silent as the elevator stooped moving and they started walking down another corridor. After walking for a few minutes, the group stopped in front of a door where two guards were stationed. Upon seeing Koloth, the guards stationed their posture.
"At ease." Koloth said simply. The guards relaxed before opening the door, allowing them to get inside.
Once inside, Scotty noticed a massive ice wall opposite of the wall, and a huge creature inside it. It was hard to make out any details, but he could see it resembled a dragon with three heads. He didn't know why, but looking at the creature in the ice made Scotty feel very afraid.
"What... is that?" Scotty stammered.
"That, is King Ghidorah. A creature of unimaginable power, and soon to be completely under my control." Koloth said while smirking, much to Scotty's worry.
The landing party had followed the Shobijin into another chamber after they had left the hut. This chamber was different in that while the village was mostly barren rock, this chamber was full of grass and flowers, something that was possible because of the giant hole in the celling. Inside the chamber was also a lake with a large waterfall. Inside the waterfall was a large object that looked like a cocoon.
Kirk and the others gazed at it in awe. Just looking at it they felt a calming aura surround them.
"What is it?" Sulu whispered.
"That is Mothra." the Shobijin replied from on top of a small rock at the water's edge as they were looking at the cocoon.
The landing party looked at the twins in confusion. "What?" McCoy asked. "That's Mothra? I thouth Mothra was..."
"Mothra is in her cocoon stage." the twins interrupted. "Every hundred years or so, Mothra lays and egg. She cares and protects that egg until she dies. After she dies, from the egg hatches a larva and Mothra is reincarnated into that new larva."
"Reincarnation?" Spock said, glancing up at the cocoon. "So, can I assume that the last larva is now going through the metamorphosis into its adult stage?" he asked curiously.
"Yes." The twins confirmed.
Mr. Spock took out his tricorder and scanned the cocoon. Looking at the results he raised an eyebrow and said, "She's showing a lot of activity. I imagine that she's almost ready to hatch."
"Yes, we can sense it to." The twins replied, looking in wonder and hope at Mothra's cocoon, with the landing party doing the same.
However, the moment was interrupted when suddenly, an explosion occurred, bringing everyone to full alert.
"What the bloody hell was that!?" McCoy shouted as he turned around to the opening leading back to the village.
"There's only one way to find out Bones." Kirk said before running back into the passageway with the others. Spock picked up the Shobijin before following after the others.
The Klingon soldiers that forced one of the natives to lead them to his home just blew up the boulder sealing the entrance to the cave. They both smirked while the Iwi native looked down in shame at having to reveal his home to the invaders.
The lead Klingon, Korg, picked up his communicator and said, "Captain Koloth, we have found the natives home."
"Excellent." Koloth said while smirking. Glancing at Mr. Scott, he asked "Is the Enterprise landing party there?" Scotty glanced at him surprise.
"Affirmative. There are footprints here that don't belong to any of the natives. Should we attack?"
"Affirmative. Kill anyone who gets in the way, but capture the Shobijin alive."
"Acknowledged." Korg said before cutting of his communication with his captain before contacting his remaining troops in the forest. "Attention all soldiers, converge on my position and prepare for attack!" he said before turning to his comrade and nodding, to which he fired his phaser right in the native's back, disintegrating him.
Koloth closed his communicator and turned to Mr. Scott who looked at him with barley contained rage.
"If I were you Mr. Scott, I'd be more worried about yourself than you're doomed captain." Koloth said before chuckling.
Scotty felt the guards around him point their phasers at him and he realized that he couldn't do anything to help his captain and his friends. They were on their own.
And thus, i am finished. And i fixed a cover for the story as well (let me know what you guys think of it in the comments). I thought it would be appropriate to upload now considering that i just started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation last Monday.
However, this chapter took a lot longer to finish than i thought, and that made me come do the decision that i'm going to put this story on hiatus for awhile, so i can focus on my X-Men: Evolution story. I hope you guys will understand my decision and i hope to see you for my next chapter of X-Men: The Next Evolution.
Until then, Excelsior!
