Restoration Battlefield
Alcurine grinned, before the laser on her Egg-Mobile started charging to fire. Sonic looked at it with dismay. He could barely jog in the state he was in now, let alone run. Not only that, but the group was in a nearly open field, with nothing but metal debris for cover.
Alcurine looked at something Sonic couldn't see, before she grinned wider and spun her turret towards Tails. Tails's eyes widened, before jumping out of the way of the purple-green laser that was heading towards him. Unfortunately for him, the laser's recharge times were improved by Eggman a while back, so he had to constantly dodge many bursts from the laser by Alcurine, who started laughing.
Whisper turned back to Tangle worriedly, before shaking her head and aiming her wispon at Alcurine, being the bigger priority.
Tangle smirked, slowly getting back up and wiping away any dust on her suit with a smug smile, preparing to leisurely walk away in the confusion. Then her eyes widened in surprise, before ducking a blow from Knuckles, who was glaring at her. "Don't think you're out of this yet!" He shouted, throwing punch after punch.
Tangle wasn't having much trouble dodging Knuckle's punches, but with how damaged she was, there was no way she was gonna get a punch in either. Her best bet was to just spend all her energy on dodging, because one hit from Knuckles and she knew she was done.
Alcurine was still blasting lasers at Tails specifically, which was starting to tick Sonic off. Sadly for him, he had to leave most of the work to Whisper as he was too physically drained to help much.
That didn't mean he couldn't do anything though.
Sonic raised his hands in the air, trying to distract Alcurine. "Hey bud! Your aim is as terrible as your fashion sense! I mean, red and grey, seriously?" He said mockingly, despite having about zero fashion sense himself.
Alcurine spared him a cursory glance, her eyes narrowing slightly. She then once again looked at something in her cockpit only she could see, and scoffed. "Sorry blueboy, you're not my target today." She said, a smirk adorning her lips before turning over to continue shooting at Tails.
Sonic huffed in frustration at his failed attempt to rile someone up for a second time. Man, first Metal Sonic and now this girl? I must be losing my touch. He thought to himself.
Or maybe it's only Eggman that I can easily piss off, he finished in his head, while also looking for something else to distract Alcruine with.
Suddenly, the group heard a loud oomph! And a crash, causing them all to turn to the noise.
Tangle had just been socked by Knuckles in the gut, sending her flying into debris once again. This time, she didn't get back up, seemingly unconscious. Knuckles was breathing heavily from his onslaught of punches, Tangle dodging them almost flawlessly until he was able to catch her off guard with a well timed feint.
Alcurine's eyes widened, before narrowing in rage. She quickly spun around, pointing the laser straight at Knuckles. "Hey echidna! Eggman is going to steal the Master Emerald while we're distracting you here!" She lied, yelling out.
Knuckles turned at her in sudden rage, distracted. "What!?" he loudly shouted. Sadly for him, it was merely a distraction so Alcurine could get a shot in. Tails shouted out a warning, but by that point it was already too late. Knuckles only had enough time to widen his eyes in shock before he was hit with the laser.
Sonic yelled out to him in shock, and before anyone knew it, Alcurine swung the laser back to Tails, a smirk adorning her face at the perfect distraction. Tails looked up at Alcruine, too stunned to move, and could only helplessly watch as the laser charged a blast once again.
Suddenly, a cyan glow enveloped Alcurine's Egg-Mobile, causing her to pause in confusion, before it was roughly shoved to the side, throwing her shot completely off course. Sonic turned to look and saw an exhausted Silver holding the Egg-Mobile with telekinesis. He seemed to be smirking though.
"TAKE THIS!" He shouted, before bringing both hands down to smash the flying machine straight into the dirt. Alcurine was thrown around the back of her head hitting the top of the glass cockpit. She then smashed back down into the cold metal at impact.
Silver fell down to one knee. Sonic quickly moved over to him, before holding him up with one arm. "You good buddy?" Sonic asked him, concerned.
Silver just nodded sluggishly. "Y-yeah, I'm good. I hav-haven't used my telekinesis this much since the war. Just give me a moment to breathe, I'll be alright." He muttered, giving a small smile to Sonic.
Suddenly, the top of the Egg-Mobile went flying open with a kick, before Alcurine crawled out, hands holding a blaster of some kind. She was staring at the group with murder in her eyes.
Sonic gave a weary smirk. "I don't think you're gonna get that moment." He quipped. Silver just rolled his eyes tiredly.
Alcurine turned to the two, her glare still in full force, before seeing how out of it they were. She smiled, before winking. "Guess I won't have to worry about you two then." She said cheerfully, before immediately pointing her blaster at Tails once again.
Suddenly, she was rammed into by a fiery punch, sending her flying off to the side. Sonic looked over at shock to Blaze, who seemed to have finally woken back up. Her fists were once again covered in fire, and she looked livid.
Alcurine hit the dirt, the side of her chest throbbing. She slowly got back up, only to see that she was hit by a very angry Blaze. Across her face flashed a myriad of emotions, but the main one was fear. Her empty hand subconsciously moved to her throat, before she shook her head.
"Ha, nice to meet you again princess." She muttered loud enough for Blaze to hear. Blaze's livid expression fell away to a very cruel smirk. "Why, it's nice to see you again so soon. I still have to finish what I started, don't I?" Blaze said malevolently, causing Alcurine to gulp.
You know what? Screw this, I'm done dealing with this damn cat. Alcurine thought to herself. She put a smirk on her face, trying to look as condescending as possible. "Finish what you started? Tch, yeah right. You're like a baby kitten, throwing a bunch of childish tantrums just because you can. Some princess you are." Alcurine said condescendingly, silently praying to Gaia that she won't end up in Hell after Blaze kills her.
Blaze's smirk immediately was replaced by pure rage, her vision going red. She ran in, planning to burn Alcurine alive. A slight smile adorned Alcurine's face, before pointing her blaster up at Blaze. Blaze was too angry to even notice it, and she ran right into the purple-green laser that shot out. The rage, previous damage, and sudden switch of morality knocked her unconscious.
Blaze's fur started to lighten up, slowly turning back to their original color. Sonic looked back to the currently recovering Blaze and sighed in relief. The sigh was immediately cut off when Alcurine quickly turned the blaster to Tails, who was watching the transformation distractedly.
Sonic dropped Silver, before speeding over to his brother. Sonic had recovered enough for one burst of speed, which he put to use to push Tails out of the way of the blast. Unfortunately, doing this put him in the way of the laser, causing him to be hit with the laser.
Alcurine turned back to Tangle and ran over, using the morality blasts as distractions. She pressed a button on her communicator, signaling the aircraft she had come in to float down in front of her and Tangle. When she reached Tangle, she saw that she was still out cold, and grabbed her, bringing her into the aircraft. She looked back, only to see Silver and Whisper in a defensive poses around Sonic, and to see a much darker colored Knuckles slowly getting up from the ground, an angry and confused look on him.
Alcurine threw Tangle in the aircraft, before looking back at the chaos around her. She looked back to the still prone form of Shadow, and smirked.
Well, he was more of an afterthought in the list, anyway. Alcurine thought, before pointing her blaster and shooting at Shadow. The rest of the group looked at the blast with shock, but were too occupied with a possible evil Sonic to really go and help.
The blast hit Shadow. By that point however, Alcurine was already boarding the aircraft without looking at the results. Before anyone knew it, Alcurine and Tangle were gone.
Meanwhile, Sonic's fur was darkening, and his teeth were getting sharper. However, weird surges of purple-green electricity was crackling off of him, as if confused, unlike anyone else it had hit.
Whisper looked between him and Shadow, who also seemed to interact with the laser strangely. On Shadow, instead of the regular purple-green light that happened whenever someone was struck, the colors seemed to get confused, changing from purple-green to basically every other combination of colors.
Shadow's fur didn't darken or lighten, but seemed to change colors entirely, going from Black to blue to brown, ect. Finally, the colors landed on a slightly deep orange and black. Orange so dark it could be confused for black. His red highlights seemed to remain the same, although for some reason they looked more jagged than normal.
He was still out cold, and Whisper figured that was a problem for later. She turned to look at Knuckles, who's coloration had darkened significantly, from bright red to a very dark nearly greyed out red. His teeth had also sharpened, and the sharp points on his knuckles seemed to get even sharper somehow.
He was merely looking around, confused. When he looked over at the group, the look of confusion on his face was replaced with cold anger, but he still walked over anyway. Whisper noticed that his normally violet pupils had strangely been changed to a golden-white coloring. When he arrived, he merely stood near the group, silently glaring at the still transforming Sonic.
He's not our enemy at least, or it seems so, anyway. Whisper thought, turning away from Knuckles. She also shelved that as a problem for later. Right now, the biggest issue was Sonic.
The purple-green surges of electricity seemed to fade away from a much darker and more dangerous looking Sonic, before he seemed to slowly get up.
Sonic opened his eyes, looking around at the group gathered around him defensively. His eyes had changed from emerald green to a dark purple.
Sonic looked around, confused. He then turned and looked at Tails, and his face broke out in a relieved grin. "Tails! You're ok!" He said cheerfully. Tails looked at him a bit fearfully, before moving slightly behind a defensive Silver.
Sonic looked confused and a bit concerned. "Tails? I-" He started, pulling his hand out as if to reach for him, when he saw his newly darkened form.
"HUH?" He shouted, looking at himself in confusion. His fur was far darker, almost bordering on black. He looked around at the group gathered around him, perhaps noticing for the first time how wary the group looked.
Sonic raised his hands in what he hoped was a peaceful gesture. "H-hey, It's ok! I'm…" He paused. He once again looked back at himself.
"I feel… fine?" He muttered. He very quickly psychoanalyzed himself to see if suddenly he wanted to burn the world down or something. Nope. He still felt exactly the same.
"I feel the exact same?" He said to the group, a tad confused, but cheerful all the same.
Nobody dropped their defensive stances, although Tails did move out from behind Silver, a hopeful look starting to adorn his face.
Silver glared at Sonic, which boy did that feel weird to both of them. "Ok. How do you feel about Eggman? How do you feel about the world? What's your philosophy?" Silver asked suddenly.
Sonic paused for a moment. "Ok, I still don't like him, Egg-face really needs a new hobby then world conquering. Um, I quite like the world the way it is, which also ties back to my opinion on Eggman. Lastly, my philosophy? I have several, want me to tell you about em? You see, one of my favorite philosophies is that if there is a chilly dog in front of you, don't waste it-" Sonic rambled, before Tails suddenly jumped and hugged him.
Tails just laughed, "It's him guys, he's ok!" He said cheerfully. Sonic also laughed, and also exhaled in relief when the group's defensive poses around him dropped.
He turned to look around, only to see a much darker Knuckles glaring at him. He pulled up a grin. "Hey Knuc, the morality switch thing not work on you too?" he asked cheerfully.
Knuckles's face just went darker, a scowl adorning his face. "Oh no, it definitely changed me, hedgehog." He spit, saying the last word like a curse.
Okaaaaaaaaay, gonna unpack that later… Sonic thought to himself, before turning and seeing that Blaze was out of commission, luckily back to normal. He also saw that Shadow seemed to have been hit with the laser as well, when Sonic wasn't paying attention.
He just glanced back at the currently conscious people, and sighed. "Ok, we can deal with everything that just happened later. Right now we need to get back to Restoration HQ and regroup."
Whisper and Silver glanced at each other with dark looks. Sonic was initially confused, but then started to remember what happened earlier, and his face suddenly gained a haunted expression. He looked back at the still burning wreckage that was the main building of the Restoration.
"HQ? Tch, there is no Restoration HQ anymore." Knuckles said spitefully, perfectly summing up their current situation.
