After days of traveling, Ash, Lillie and Dawn have finally arrived in the Floaroma Town, where Dawn is supposed to have her next try at the Pokémon Contests.

They have arrived the day before yesterday, and while Lillie and Ash have spent the last two days resting, Dawn has met a girl called Forsythia, who runs Poffin-cooking classes and a Berry orchard in the town. Dawn decided to enter into puffin-making class, so she can learn to make the puffins for her Pokémon.

In the end, Dawn not only learned how to make puffins, but she came up with her own recipe, and her Pokémon loved it.

Today, Ash, Lillie and Dawn were on the small training field behind the Pokémon Center in the Floaroma Town.

Dawn has decided to do some training in preparation for the Floaroma Competition, so Ash, and Lillie decided to help her.

As it's is her newest Pokémon, Dawn decided to train her Pachirisu a little bit. It is also a possibility that she will use Pachirisu in the competition, so she needs some moves for the presentation. Thus, Ash was using his Shinx to help Dawn's Pachirisu.

Shinx was currently using his electric attack to create a very beautiful light show of sparkling lights above himself. The electric attack Shinx was using creates a web of electricity, which is sparkling in the air, and it looks really good.

"Awesome, like always, Shinx," Dawn praised Ash's Pokémon, before she looked at her Pachirisu who was watching carefully. "Pachirisu, try storing an electric energy just like what you just saw Shinx do."

Pachirisu nodded, and then started to sparkle a blue electricity from its cheeks, but didn't release it too far, and was just building up the output.

"Storing up electricity like that looks great when it comes out of your cheeks," Ash said to Pachirisu, who kept storing her electric power, just like she was told. She twitched slightly every now and then as she was building up a power, but she was doing great. Once she practices it enough, the twitching will probably stop.

"Once you store up enough electricity, let it all out at once." Ash said to Pachirisu.

Shinx suddenly shouted to Pachirisu, probably telling her to release all the stored up electricity, because right after that, Pachirisu shouted as well, and fired all of her stored electricity in the air, creating bolts of lightning in the air, which were creating sparks above the battlefield.

"That was great Pachirisu." Dawn praised her Pokémon for her success, as she was able to pull it off in her first try.

Once Pachirisu stopped using her attack, she smiled widely as she jumped up and down from one leg to the other. She looked happy, and satisfied with herself.

"Thank you for your help, Shinx," Dawn spoke to Ash's electric type. "I now that we will get a ribbon for sure."

Ash also smiled at his Pokémon, and praised him for good coaching, which made Shinx blush a little in embarrassment.

Pachirisu approached Dawn, and stood on the ground in front of her. She had her hands pressed against one another, and her eyes were sparkling as she was looking at Dawn.

"I know what you want," Dawn said, as she fished something out of her dress. "A puffin."

Pachirisu started to jump up and down in excitement, and happiness.

Dawn took one puffin, and gave it to Pachirisu. "You deserve this for working so hard." Dawn said, as Pachirisu took the puffin and started to nibble on it.

"You want one too, Piplup?" Dawn questioned her Pokémon, who happily nodded, and took his own puffin. Unlike Pachirisu who was slowly eating her own piece, Piplup threw his into the air, and it fell right into his mouth, before he gobbled it up right away.

"That was fast." Ash commented as he saw how Piplup ate his puffin.

"You really got the perfect recipe going." Lillie said to Dawn.

Dawn nodded. "With Forsythia's help, though."

Everyone's attention was draw to Piplup and Pachirisu, as they stood in front of Dawn, looking at her with sparkling eyes, and hands pressed together as if they are praying.

"You still want some more?" Dawn asked, while the two Pokémon just stood there, and kept looking at her. "Well, not before we do some more practicing."

The two Pokémon run to Dawn legs, and acted cute to get what they want, but Dawn would have none of it. "I said no!" Dawn said.

The two Pokémon weren't listening, though. They again moved at Dawn's legs, as she has moved away from them before, but Dawn kept refusing.

Ash, and Shinx saw the look on Pachirisu's face, and backed away immediately.

It was just in time though, as Pachirisu used Thunder Shock, and shocked Dawn, Lillie and Piplup, at the same time.

Thunder Shock was broken by Shinx when Ash told him to use Thunderbolt at Pachirisu, which he did. Dawn's Pokémon fell on the ground after the attack, and passed out.

As for Lillie, Dawn, and Piplup, they were all on the ground, twitching from the electrical attack. Their clothing, and the whole appearance was in disorder. Especially Dawn's hair which is now going everywhere, instead of being sleek and going neatly down her back.

"Everybody OK?" Ash asked as he approached to the two girls and a Pokémon. He was wearing a small smirk on his face, while his Shinx is standing next to him, also smirking at the scene.

Dawn looked at Ash, and caught the sight of her hair. She screamed and panicked when she saw it, before she breathed out in exasperation. "Not my hair again." She said as her head hung down.

"Hey, Dee Dee!" Someone called, drawing Dawn's attention straight away.

"Dee Dee," Dawn said as she looked up. Then she jumped to her feet, and looked around. "Only one guy knows that name."

A boy around Dawn's age approached toward her with a smile on his face. He has red hair, green blouse over which he wears green V-neck t-shirt with white line. He also wears a Pokétch on his left arm, and gray pants.

"That's right," the boy said. "Good to see you, kid."

"Kenny," Dawn gasped out when she saw who it was. "It is you."

"I got to say," he spoke again. "I love what you've done with your hair."

Dawn tried to brush and straighten it down with her hands, but she was unsuccessful.

"What's up with the, 'Dee Dee'?" Lillie wondered.

"I guess we'll see." Ash replied.

"I see you've got yourself a Shinx," Kenny said as he looked at Ash's Pokémon standing next to Dawn's legs. "Dee Dee's all grown up."

"Kenny, stop," Dawn yelled! "Stop calling me Dee Dee! Also, this isn't my Shinx!"

Kenny backed away a little bit, as he looked curiously at Dawn.

"It's his." Dawn said as she pointed at Ash.

"Nice to meet you, kid…" Ash spoke, "whoever you are."

Lillie simply said HI, as she waved at Kenny.

Shinx approached to Ash, and rubbed his head on Ash's leg. Ash smiled at this, and returned his Pokémon to his Poke Ball. "Thanks for the help, Shinx."

"Wait," Kenny spoke. "Are you Ash Ketchum?"

"I am." Ash said.

"Wow," Kenny said. "I never thought I'd meet you. Especially with Dee Dee. What's up with that?"

"We met in Sandgem Town after she started her journey, and Lillie and I just came to Sinnoh," Ash said. "We've been traveling ever since."

"That's amazing," Kenny said. "I can't believe that Dee Dee not only met you, but is actually traveling with you. She is a big fan of yours, I'll tell you that much."

Ash smirked at this, while Dawn went crimson in embarrassment. "Shut up, Kenny!" Dawn screamed.

Everyone smiled at Dawn, who only blushed even more at it, and sulked.

Jessie was in a hotel room in a Floaroma Town. She got there to participate in the Floaroma Contests, and has just ended up preparing for it.

Right now though, she is on a phone talking with James, who has called her.

"What is it, James?" She asked.

"I got a call from the HQ." James said.

"Why," Jessie asked? "Did they call for a meeting or something?"

"Yes, and no," James said. "There will be a meeting, but we are not obliged to attend. Only some of the higher members will attend."

"OK," Jessie said with raised eyebrows. "They why did you call me?"

"While we are not obliged to attend, everyone who isn't attending the meeting was informed of the reason behind the meeting. Apparently, they called you, but you were unavailable, so they told me to inform you as well."

"Ok, so what happened?" Jessie asked.

"Agent #1 had a run-in with that brat while in Sinnoh," James informed his partner, whose eyes widened in shock. "It didn't end well."

"For who?" Jessie asked.

"For 'J'," James answered. "He really did a number on her. I was actually shocked when I heard what he did."

"What did he do to her?" Jessie asked very interested in learning.

"You are not going to believe me," James sighed, before he told Jessie what Ash did to 'J'. Once he was finished, Jessie's eyes were wide opened, and her jaw has dropped on the floor.

"You can't be serious." Jessie questioned in shock.

"I am," James said. "I didn't believe it at first, but it was confirmed by 'J' herself when she came back to HQ, all covered in blood and with ripped cloths."

"Why was she covered in blood?" Jessie asked, and James answered.

Jessie gulped. "A-All of them?" She questioned.

"Yes." James confirmed.

"Damn," Jessie cussed. "She's an animal."

"After what was done to her," James spoke. "I can't really blame her.

"There is a problem now, though. Her crew is gone, and she will take some time to recover, so she won't be able to do any job, and it will take a while to replace all of her crew."

"Does the boss want something from us?" Jessie asked.

"Not now," James answered. "She only wants us to be prepared at any moment so we can answer the call to do something if necessary."

"Fine," Jessie said. "I'm currently in the Floaroma Town. There is a Pokémon Competition tomorrow, and I'll participate. Well talk again after, so you can tell me if there are some news."

"Fine." James said, before he hanged the line.

Jessie stood in her hotel room, and looked through the window. "That kid is a monster." She said to herself with a sigh.

The entire group, including Kenny, were seating by the table in the Pokémon Center. They were all drinking some juices, while Dawn's Piplup was eating some Pokémon food.

"Kenny left on his journey before I did," Dawn said. "We've known each other since nursery school, and we used to play together a lot.

"I'm trying to remember your first Pokémon. What was it?"

"I guess I'll show you," Kenny said as he stood up from his chair, and called out his Pokémon. His first Pokémon. "Come on out and meet everybody."

A Prinplup came out of the Poke Ball. It was standing proud and tall, as it looked straight ahead.

"Wow, a Prinplup." Dawn said as she looked at the evolved form of her Piplup.

Lillie pulled out her Pokedex, and looked at the entry of Prinplup. She has already seen Ash's Empoleon, which is Prinplup's evolved form, but she has never seen a Prinplup, so she wishes to check it out.

"Prinplup, the Penguin Pokémon, and the evolved form of Piplup. One blow from its wings is strong enough to knock down trees." The Pokedex said.

Dawn's Piplup run to its evolved form to say, 'hi', but all he got for his troubles was a slap on the face from the bigger Pokémon.

"What the hell was that for?" Dawn shouted as she saw her Pokémon being sent to the ground from the slap.

"Ahhh, sorry about that," Kenny said. "Sometimes Prinplup gets a little freaked out when someone gets into its space. I'm the only one Prinplup doesn't have a problem with."

Piplup stood back up, and puffed his chest as he glared up at Prinplup. Prinplup wasn't scared though, as it glared down at it pre-evolved form.

"I guess they are acting like they are rivals." Ash commented as he saw the sight.

Dawn wined. "Why don't they just get along?" She wondered.

"Well, they are both penguin Pokémon, remember," Lillie spoke, "and tempers at times can get pretty hot. Prinplup's in particular, aren't thrilled with being with others." She wasn't exactly a specialist in the field, but she learned enough from Ash to know these kinds of things. It also helped that she has seen enough of Ash's Empoleon, and saw how he acted, which is a lot like Dawn's Piplup, and Kenny's Prinplup.

"I saw you using Piplup at the Jubilife Contest," Kenny said to Dawn. "Were you copying me?"

"I'd never copy you," Dawn burst out! "Piplup and I were made for each other. Isn't that right, Piplup?"

Piplup looked at Dawn for a moment, and nodded.

"Were you even at the Jubilife Contest," Dawn asked Kenny? "I don't remember seeing you."

"I watched it on TV," Kenny replied. "Weren't you watching mine? I know it was also on TV."

Dawn laughed awkwardly, "Yeah, I guess I was too busy. Sorry about that. Besides, I really can't see you as a coordinator."

"Well, unlike you, I've already made it to the finals," Kenny bragged to Dawn.

"Wow, you did," Dawn said with disbelief. "Amazing."

"It was at the contest right before Jubilife City, and I thought I had my first ribbon," Kenny spoke. "But then I came up against an opponent so powerful, I didn't have a chance. She had a Glameow, and her name was Zoey."

He set on the chair with a sigh, before he looked at Dawn. "She beat you as well, remember."

"So, Zoey beat both of us," Dawn said, drawing the attention of Piplup and Prinplup. "At the Jubilife Contest, she told me she only has one ribbon, so I guess she won it by defeating you."

"I think Zoey was really strong," Ash said. "She seems to have a lot of experience. Definitely more then you, Dawn."

"Are you going to compete in the Pokémon Competitions, Ash?" Kenny asked.

"No," Ash said. "I have no interest in Pokémon Contests. I only go for gym battles, and Pokémon League Tournaments. The same goes for Lillie."

"I see," Kenny said while looking at Ash, and Lillie. After a few moments, he asked. "How about a battle?"

Ash raised his eyebrows. "With whom?"

"I want to try my Prinplup against your Shinx," Kenny said. "It could be a good battle, and it will help my Prinplup to learn to deal with Electric Attacks."

Ash thought about it, before he shrugged. "Sure, why not. And since we will have a battle, why not Dawn and Lillie have one as well. It will also help Dawn to prepare for the Floaroma Contest."

"I'm up for it." Dawn said all pumped up.

"Sure, why not?" Lillie agreed in the same way as Ash did.

Kenny agreed as well, and they agreed to have their battles later. Right now, they will talk a little bit more, as Kenny had some stories about Dawn, which he wanted to tell to Ash, and Lillie. He also wanted to hear about Dawn's journey so far.

In a forest not far from the Floaroma Town, two girls who look like they are sisters, are hiding in a small cave.

The older of the girls looks like she is about 10 years old, while the younger one is maybe four years younger.

The two of them don't look well at this moment. They look tired, they are dirty, and their cloths are ripped in several places. Basically, they look like they are in trouble.

They weren't alone in the cave though. Along with the two girls, there is a Pokémon. It is a Legendary Pokémon, Suicune, and it is currently lying on the cave floor, looking exhausted and with injured leg.

The two girls, even though tired themselves, are at least not injured, and are trying to do what they can to help the injured Pokémon, who helped them earlier. That's the least they can do as they are the reason Suicune is in this state to begin with.

"What are we going to do, Marnie?" The smaller of the two girls asked her older sister. "Suicune is in bad state, and we can't help it."

"I know, Paige," the older sister said. "But we must do this until we find someone to help us."

"How far are we from the Floaroma Town?" Paige asked.

"About a day and a half of travel," Marnie said, "and that's if we are able to walk normally. With Suicune like this, it will take us more as it can't travel too much without stopping to rest."

Paige sighed. "At least we have our Drifloon to help us." She said.

"Yeah," Marnie smiled. "Without them to find, and bring us food, we would be in a bigger trouble then we are right now."

Paige didn't say anything. Instead, she set on the floor, and pulled her legs to herself, her knees right at her chin. She shivered from the cold a little, as she closed her eyes. "I wonder how mommy and daddy are doing with those evil man." She spoke, as tears ran down her cheeks.

Marnie approached her younger sister, and hugged her. "They will be fine," she said trying to reassure her sister. She wasn't actually sure that her parents will be fine, but there is no way she will say that to Paige. Besides, she herself wants to believe that her parents will be fine, and that they won't leave the two girls alone in this world. "They will be fine. We will find the help, and save them. Then, we will all be together like before."

"Are you sure?" Paige asked with a hopeful look on her face.

"I'm sure." Though she wasn't so sure, Marnie still lied. Sometimes it's better to lie, then to tell the truth.

Paige wiped her tears, and returned to help her sister in fixing Suicune's leg as best as the two of them could.

The day of the Floaroma Contests has come, and is already on its way, as the Performance Stage of the competition has already come and gone.

Dawn and Kenny, as well as Jessie have already passed in the Battle Stage of the competition, where the top 8 competitors go against each other.

Dawn was the first who went in the Performance Stage, where she used her Pachirisu. It was a rough start, as Pachirisu had a stage fright, but after Dawn fed her one of her special puffins, Pachirisu performed very well, which allowed Dawn to get to the Top 8.

Jessie performed admirably with her Seviper, and the crowd loved it. She seemed to do better than Dawn, judging by the public's reaction.

Kenny put up a great show with his Alakazam, which seemed even better than the one Jessie put. By the end of the performance stage, he seemed to be in the lead, at least by the crowd's reaction.

In the end, all three passed into the next stage, and Dawn was able to breathe easier, as she was really worried that she will fail because of Pachirisu's meltdown at the start.

Dawn, along with Ash and Lillie stood in the backstage where they were watching the screen to see who will fight whom in the top 8 round. After the random shuffle of the computer, Dawn ended up having to go up against Jessie in the first match.

Kenny was in the last match, which means that in the event that Dawn, and Kenny win their matches, they will only go against each other in the final round of the competition.

At the side of the backstage, away from the rest of the competitors, Jessie stood all alone. She saw the matchups, and cast a look at Dawn. She wore a smirk on her face, as she though this will be a nice challenge, which she will win in the end.

The smirk disappeared almost instantly from her face, when she noticed that Ash was looking directly at her with narrowed eyes. 'I sure hope you won't try something, Jessie,' she suddenly heard in her head. She recognized the voice, and her eyes widened when she realized that it was Ash speaking to her mind, most likely using Telepathy. 'You will not like the consequences.' Ash's eyes flashed from red to black for a moment, before they returned to normal.

The next moment, Ash was no longer looking at Jessie, but instead back at Dawn.

At that moment, Jessie almost peed herself in fear, as that right there, was probably the scariest thing she has ever seen in her life.

XXX

Dawn and Jessie were at the battlefield, ready for their match, while Marian is making the announcement.

Dawn is wearing the same dress she did in the Jubilife Contest, and the same goes for Jessie, who looks just as hot as she did back then. This is basically the battle between Jessie's hotness, and Dawn's princess-like beauty.

Ash was at the stadium seats along with Lillie. They were ready to watch the match, and cheer for Dawn. Ash was also going to pay close attention at Jessie, just in case she tries something. He is sure that she won't though, as he did warn her. Still, you never know with people like Jessie.

"For our first matchup," Marian spoke, "on one side is Jessie, while on the other side, is Dawn."

"That brat is not bad," Jessie though in her head. "But I did a lot of training, and I'm not going to lose now." She cast a look toward where Ash was seating, and saw him looking directly at her with narrowed eyes. She shivered slightly, before she looked away from him.

"Just watch closely, Kenny," Dawn spoke in her head. "I'll show you how to battle. I'll show you that I'm better."

Kenny wasn't on the stadium seats. He was in the backstage, with all the other remaining competitors, who were all going to watch the match on the big screen.

"Five minutes," Marian spoke! "Let's go!"

And so the match started as the five minutes started counting.

Dawn, and Jessie released their Piplup and Dustox, doing their best to present them in the best light.

Jessie started the battle with her Dustox using Whirlwind. It did a rather good job at showing Dustox's beauty.

Dawn countered this by having her Piplup flipping mid-air, and using Dustox's Whirlwind to increase his speed as he was heading toward Dustox to use Peck.

This is exactly what Dawn needed, as the way her Piplup used the opponents move to make himself look better, lost Jessie almost a quarter of her total points, and allowed Dawn to gain an early lead in the match.

Piplup flipped above Dustox, and was about to use Peck, but Jessie recovered in time to have her Dustox use, Poison Sting. Piplup tried to dodge mid-air, but was grazed by one of the stings, and he fell back down to the battlefield.

This lost Dawn some of her points, and made Jessie return to the match, as the two now had almost equal amount of points.

Jessie put a pressure on Dawn and Piplup by having her Dustox keep firing Psybeam at Piplup. Piplup kept dodging them, and wasn't hit, even when Dustox fired Poison Sting.

This wasn't a good thing for Dawn, though, as she can't just dodge, and has to attack as well. Even though Piplup wasn't hit even once, Dawn lost more of her points as Dustox was showing its moves in a perfect way.

Dawn told Piplup to use, Bide. Piplup pumped up, and started glowing, while standing in the same spot. Dustox's Poison Stings kept raining down on Piplup, but it wasn't doing any damage to Dawn's starter.

Once Piplup has stored enough power, he fired a white beam at Dustox. Jessie's Pokémon was hit head-on, which made Jessie lose more then another quarter of her points, which left her with half of her total points.

Dustox wasn't defeated though, and was still floating mid-air. This came as a shock to Piplup, and Dawn, as they really thought that that Bide, was enough to take Dustox out of the match.

"You didn't really think it's going to be that easy," Jessie said to Dawn. "I might be new to the contests, but my Pokémon are not weak, and are tough enough to handle attack like that."

"I can see that," Dawn said, "but how much damage can your Pokémon take before it's taken out? That's the question."

Jessie frowned, before she told Dustox to use Poison Sting.

Dawn countered this with, Peck. Piplup's beak glowed, and extended, before he run toward Dustox, dodging the Poison Stings in the process. Once he was just in front of Jessie's Pokémon, Piplup jumped up, and hit Dustox with his glowing and extended beak.

Dustox was sent down to the battlefield, where he passed out, signifying Jessie's defeat, even though she still had half of her points, and there was still time left for the battle.

"And that's it, folks," Marian said! "Dustox has been defeated, meaning that Dawn and Piplup are going to the next round!"

"ALL, RIGHT!" Dawn yelled in happiness that she has won the battle, and still has a chance to win her first ribbon.

Piplup run to her, and the two of them hugged, as they were happy with the win.

Up at the stadium seats, Ash, and Lillie were clapping with their hands for Dawn, while the crowd cheered.

"That was a nice match for Dawn," Lillie said. "She seems to be getting better at the contest matches, and its rules."

"She wants to be Top Coordinator, so she must get better as soon as possible." Ash said. "If she can't deal with opponents like Jessie, who are nothing special, then she won't have a chance against coordinators like Zoey."

"I guess you are right."

XXX

"Now it's time for the final stage." Marian said as Dawn and Kenny stood at the battlefield.

It's been several hours since Dawn defeated Jessie, and since then, Kenny was able to win his quarterfinal match. Then Dawn won her semifinal match, followed by Kenny winning his own semifinal match.

Thus, the two of them are now about to face in the final round of the Floaroma Contest in the battle which will determine who of the two childhood friends will win their first contest ribbon.

"Five minutes on the clock are starting NOW!" Marian shouted as the final round started.

"Come out, Piplup," Dawn shouted as she threw her Poke Ball in the air! "Spotlight!"

Piplup came out of the ball among the storm of bubbles, making a nice presentation.

"Prinplup, let's do it!" Kenny released his Pokémon, who came out in a storm of yellow stars.

"There you go," Marian said. "It's Piplup, and Prinplup. A battle between Pokémon evolutions."

Dawn started right away with Bubble Beam, while Kenny countered with his Pokémon's Bubble Beam.

The two attacks collided which caused an explosion, which then caused beautiful sparkles of light to fall over the battlefield.

Both trainers lost some of their points, with Dawn losing a bit more then Kenny.

Dawn went with Peck as her next attack, while Kenney sent his Prinplup to intercept Piplup's attack with Metal Claw.

Prinplup's wings glowed white, and it managed to stop Piplup right away, before it tossed the smaller Pokémon into the air. This lost Dawn more of her points, and gave Kenny even greater advantage.

Kenny told Prinplup to use Drill Peck, so Prinplup started to spin as its beak and the top of the head glowed white. It was spinning very fast, and was ready to deal damage to Piplup, but Dawn told her Pokémon to use, Bide.

Piplup pulled his legs close to his chin, and the hands went over his chest. He also closed his eyes, and toughed up. He then fell right at the top of Prinplup's beak, back first, and then started to spin along with Prinplup.

Piplup started to spin more and more under the power of Prinplup's Drill Peck, and was gaining damage, which is losing Dawn points. Still, Piplup held on using Bide, which was decreasing the damage he received.

Then, Kenny told Prinplup to smash Piplup, which the big penguin Pokémon did, and sent the spinning Piplup flying into the air.

Right as he was in the air, Dawn told Piplup to use Bide, full blast. Piplup stopped spinning in the air, and fired a white beam from his body at Prinplup, who received a lot of damage, and Kenny lost some points, though he was still in the lead.

Kenny went with Metal Claw, next, but Dawn told Piplup to flip – which he did, as he dodged Prinplup's attack – and then Piplup used Whirlpool, which is a new attack Piplup learned just yesterday.

The Whirlpool fell on top of Prinplup, and surrounded it completely, damaging it, and losing Kenny some more points in the process. That made the total points of the two competitors about equal at that moment.

Kenny lost some more points though, as the judges seemed to like Piplup's Whirlpool, even though it wasn't dealing any more damage to Prinplup, as it's a Water Type Attack, against a Water Type Pokémon.

Prinplup used Bubble Beam, next, and fired it at the Whirlpool, dispersing it in the process, and causing pretty lights to form in the air from the dispersed water.

Everyone loved this, including Dawn, even though she lost some points, and again the match came to a draw, as they had the same amount of points left, which was about half of the total amount.

Prinplup used Mist, as its next move, hiding itself from Piplup. Dawn lost some more points because of this, and Lillie theorized with Ash that Kenny is trying to wear Piplup down so he would run out of patience.

Dawn told Piplup to stay calm, while Kenny told Prinplup to use Drill Peck. This time, instead of staying on the ground to spin, Prinplup flew in the air, and then came down toward Piplup while spinning like crazy.

Piplup created a Whirlpool mid-air, and then dived into it, dodging Prinplup's attack, which lost Kenny some points.

Dawn told Piplup to use Peck, but Kenny told his Prinplup to jump in the Whirlpool and use Metal Claw. The two attacks clashed, but the Pokémon just bounced back from each other, without dealing any damage.

Both trainers kept losing more points, and now just 15 seconds before the end of the match, they are both even with less than a quarter of their total points remaining.

Both Dawn and Kenny told their Pokémon to use Bubble Beam as their next moves, and their Pokémon listened, firing their attacks with as much power as they could. They were still in the middle of the Whirlpool while doing this.

The collision of the two attack caused an explosion, which dispersed the Whirlpool, and created another light show. The crowd loved it.

And then… the time was up, and the battle was over without either of the two Pokémon being defeated.

"And the winner is Dawn of the Twinleaf Town!" Marina shouted as the big screen showed that Dawn had just a little bit more points than Kenny.

"Sorry, Prinplup," Kenny said to his Pokémon, while Dawn and Piplup were hugging each other. "I guess I just wasn't good enough."

He watched as Dawn and Piplup hugged each other. Dawn looked at him, and they smiled at each other. "Maybe next time, we'll win." Kenny said to himself.

Later, Dawn was presented her first ribbon, and congratulated on her win.

At the stadium seats, Ash and Lillie smiled as they, along with the rest of the crowd, clapped their hands for Dawn as a congratulations for the win.

XXX

Once the competition was finished, Dawn called her mother to talk to her about her first win in the Pokémon Contests, and her first ribbon.

Johanna was happy for Dawn, but warned her that she needs to continue to train, and that one ribbon is not enough.

Dawn said that she will continue to work hard so she can win the remaining four ribbons she needs to be able to participate in the Grand Festival.

Once the talk about the contests was finished, Johanna told Dawn that she got an offer for a job, and that she will have to travel a lot. She said that she will be the one to contact Dawn every now and then, as Dawn won't be able to contact her.

Dawn was intrigued by her mother's work, especially since Johanna didn't say what she will actually be doing. She didn't press though, as her mother is an adult woman, and can take care of herself. She was sad though, that she won't be able to talk to her mother whenever she wants, and will have to wait for Johanna to call her.

With the conversation over, the two hung the phone lines, and Dawn rejoined Ash, and Lillie. She also met with Kenny at that time, and the two promised to have another match again, with Kenny saying that he will win next time.
