Dear Detective Uzumaki,

I need you to investigate The Anaconda, I have reason to suspect that he's rigging his matches with his opponents. I'm sending you 2 tickets to his next match in case you have to bring the assistant you've been seen with. If you find evidence or at least prove his innocence, the pay remains the same.

"Oooooh... high paying job too. Seem like good pay, and I don't have any pressing murder mysteries at the moment." Naruto rarely got work to uncover gambling schemes. He got tickets too, which meant that he wouldn't have to buy tickets himself and deduct the cost from the payment that he was getting. He wasn't much of a wrestling fan, he actually just didn't care about most human sports in general thanks to the fact his physical body was constantly at the peak of what humanity was capable of.

Even his 6 year old body was more than capable of competing with a 13 year old boy in strength, and his adult body was at the limits of human strength.

There was a knock on the door.

Was it Miko?

"It's open, you can come in!" Naruto shouted through the door. He rarely locked his door at night, mostly because he needed much less sleep than a human did. When he was home, there was no safer place than by his side. Naruto turned to face the door, and he saw Miko come in, and she was being followed by her mother.

A real beauty.

She must have had Miko young, because she and her daughter could genuinely pass for sisters. They had super similar faces, eyes, hair color and shine. Though, this woman had signs of mild stress at the corners of her eyes, and she wore her hair in a low ponytail over her right shoulder. Both women were about the same size in their bodies, with the mother's breasts being a cup size or two larger. It would seem that Miko didn't quite inherit that genetic, or the woman had breastfed both of her children and the size never went back down.

She was Touko Yotsuya, the widow of Mamoru Yotsuya, mother of Miko and Kyousuke Yotsuya, and she had the same kindness in her eyes that her late husband and daughter had.

"He-hey Naruto... is it... okay if my Mom watches me help you work today? She had a day off from work, and she was curious about my internship." Miko was very nervous to introduce her mother to Naruto's line of work. Touko stepped forward and bowed to Naruto, before she lifted her head.

"I'm sorry to intrude, but I just was so curious about what my daughter's first job entailed. Also, Miko, you need to respect your seniors, please refer to him by his proper name. Uzumaki-san." Touko gently lectured her daughter.

Oh yeah, this was a mother for sure.

Naruto actually laughed.

"Sorry, but don't bother, I don't like using honorifics, and I don't like them used for me. When you're in my line of work, formality can get in the way of the job." Naruto stood up. He glanced around his room to make sure that he didn't have any cursed objects laying around that she could touch. Touko was also looking around his room, trying to get a feel for the kind of man that he was. He lived in a one room apartment with an attached kitchen, and a single closet with a bathroom/shower combination. Still, Miko had cleaned it just the other day so other than a few cup ramens on the desk, his room was decently clean as well.

Naruto looked at Miko, who was standing behind her mother, and her eyes were screaming at him to not mention spirits and yokai in front of her mother.

"So... is this your office... what kind of work do you usually do?" Touko didn't touch anything, but she didn't have a negative impression of him.

She wasn't coming into this with suspicion, she just seemed like a mother who wanted to know what her daughter did for work. She wasn't trying to judge Naruto negatively, since Miko had stayed over at his apartment during late nights and come home unharmed with no marks on her body. She had good reason to believe that nothing sexual, or at least nothing abusive was happening to her daughter.

"Well, today I have a few small cases, and tonight I have a big case. We'll be investigating a missing cat for an old woman, the police wanted me to visit them and give them a written report on a murder I solved for them a couple days ago, and we'll be attending a wrestling match to try and find foul play." Naruto didn't have a ton of work, mostly minor stuff. Naruto placed his hand on a small stack of papers, his written report for a murder case he solved without Miko, while she was at school.

Miko sighed.

'Just normal stuff.' Miko's hand was over her heart.

"Murder case a couple of days ago, that's super impressive!" Touko looked surprised.

She didn't hear about that in the news.

"Japan is an extremely safe nation for many people, but as long as there are people, you'll have somebody who wants somebody else dead. During summer, you see a spike in murder, and during winter you see a spike in suicide. Those are my busiest times of the year. Still, I've helped put a lot of bad guys away... can I get you a coffee, energy drink... tea?" Naruto asked Touko, just to be polite.

"Oh, an energy drink sounds great!"

"Unexpected... here." Naruto took a room temp, unopened, energy drink from his desk and passed it to her. He didn't really need them, or drink them, but he started to carry them so that Miko could have something to help her wake up in the mornings where she stayed the night.

Touko gave off gamer vibes when she cracked it open and drank a 4th of it in one go.

Naruto looked and saw Miko was embarrassed by her mother.

"Mom..."

"So... how much money does a detective really make... it must be hard to find work." Touko was less judging him, and more judging his living conditionsd when she stated that.

"Actually, I make pretty decent money. I just donate about half of my income to charity. I'm a single guy, and pretty young, and I think I'm pretty low maintance. I've seen a lot of orphans, and I can't help but feel bad for them. So, I donate money to orphanages to help the kids out." Naruto had multiple reasons why he didn't have a ton of money. The biggest reason was that he donated about half of his income. "... I work out of my apartment. Okay then, I don't mind if you tag along. But you may need to buy your own ticket for the wrestling match later." Naruto stated, since that was an unexpected addition to that part of his job.

"Ooooh, sounds fun to watch! Doesn't it Miko?" Touko asked her daughter.

"Moooooom."

-Later-

"He's quite athletic, and he's very handsome. I can see why you wanted to work for him." Touko lightly teased her daughter as Naruto hung upside down by his legs, and held onto a cat that was attempting to scratch him. Naruto was checking the collar on the cat to see if it was the correct cat that they were looking for. They had checked 5 cats in the area, and this was the 6th cat that matched the description. He managed to not get scratched even once by the more wild cats.

"Mom... Naruto is 20..." Miko whispered, red faced and humiliated by the teasing.

"Oh, a few years doesn't matter. He's got a good paying job, he's a good guy, and he seems like a real catch." Touko whispered back.

Naruto heard all of that.

Miko KNEW how good his hearing was, so even if they whispered, she knew fully well that he was hearing all of the gossip her mother was doing. Naruto had the cat by the scruff of the neck, and the thing was calmed down by it. The worst part was that she didn't want to deny that her mother was right, because she was. Naruto did have a good paying job, and he was a great guy, so she didn't want to deny those things and be rude to Naruto.

"This is the cat, here, you hold it." Naruto passed it to Miko. Naruto then passed Miko the papers. "Drop the cat off with the client, and I'll leave it to you to hand in my report. I've got a new client that wants to meet me in private, can't have either of you attend this one. This client... needs to be a secret." Naruto showed he got an email on his phone. Gave a very apologetic smile at both women when he said it.

"Understandable."

-At the Police Station-

"Ah, Miko, did Naruto send you to drop off his report... I swear, that man is always working."

"Is it okay that Miko is the one who drops off the report, doesn't Naruto need to be here for this?" Touko asked the chief of police, since she didn't know if it was okay for her underage daughter to be dropping off such important documents. Police reports were no joke after all, and needed to be kept a secret.

She got a confused look.

"Naruto is the best detective in the country, if he wants to send a girl to drop his reports off, I'm not about to get on his bad side and complain. He's helped solve so many cases we wouldn't be able to handle without him." The Police Chief admitted that it wasn't okay for Miko to drop off documents, but at the same time, he liked to keep the detective who made his life easier happier by not bitching about it to him. Touko was stunned for a moment, before she became very impressed.

Miko was as well, impressed that is.

She knew that with Naruto's special nose, and his ability to split himself up, and communicate with spirits, that there really weren't a lot of murder mysteries he couldn't solve in a matter of hours.

"So... it's not okay that I'm the one dropping these off?" Miko asked, since she just always assumed that it was okay. She never knew that it was against the rules.

"Well, Naruto makes my life easier, so I'm willing to let stuff like this slide. There aren't a lot of detectives that can do what he does. If Naruto trusts you not to read private documents, I'll just assume you aren't going to read them."

Miko's phone went off.

-At the Maid Cafe-

"I'll have my usual... you two can order anything you want." Naruto stated as he met up with Touko and Miko at a maid cafe.

"The girls are really cute here!"

"I know the owner, I helped him find out his wife was cheating on him, so when she tried to divorce him she didn't get to take everything from him." Naruto stated with a cool head. He nodded his head to the bartender, the owner of the place. One of the maids stopped by the table and dropped an envelope, before taking the girls' orders. Naruto grabbed the envelope and opened it. "Maid cafes are places where rumors spread super easily."

"Oh?"

"Oh yeah, Brothels, Maid Cafes, Host clubs, Hostess clubs. Anywhere you find attractive people, you'll find people willing to try and impress them by spilling their secrets. None of these places have an obligation to keep what you say a secret." Naruto showed them the pictures and the handwriting of the maids, showing tons of rumors and secrets that clients had told them to try and impress them. "I come here all the time to stay up to date on rumors." Naruto explained as he was brought a very light brown coffee, and he read through the maid rumors.

Both Miko and Touko had similar tastes, because they both ordered the same flavor of cake, and both of them ordered a melon soda to go with it.

"So... you don't come here for the cute girls?" Touko questioned with a slightly disappointed look.

"Nope. I wouldn't even visit these places if I wasn't a detective... lets see... false... false... true... true... false... this man is cheating on his wife... this man isn't cheating, he's just weird... and this woman... suspcious." Naruto finished going through all the documents. He looked at Touko, and saw that she was watching him with a keen eye. She was very interested in what he said, and she looked at the pictures of the people who entered the cafe.

"How can you tell?" Touko couldn't tell that from just the pictures.

"Experience, mostly gut feeling. You can tell by the way people carry themselves. Let me ask you this... you love video games, don't you?" Naruto asked the mother of 2 children.

"I do!" Touko admitted, very impressed.

"You work late hours at times, and even though your husband passed away, you haven't really touched the money he left behind. You used to be a stay-at-home mother, and then started working." Naruto started to explain Touko to herself, and she was very impressed, because he was absolutely right about each deduction he made about her.

"How did you know?" Touko asked.

She was curious.

"You have really youthful skin and hair, no gray hairs, so you haven't been working for a stressful company for long, but the inner corners of your eyes show stress, so you do work hard. You wear your wedding ring, despite your husband having passed away. Earlier, you drank that energy drink the way a gamer does. Miko is a well behaved girl with a sensible head on her shoulders, meaning you were very involved with her life when she was young... and you have a son and daughter several years apart. Video games are a common thing children share in common, and as a stay at home mother, you would have played a lot of them... and since you're so young, you grew up during an era where video games were gaining popularity. So, it is easy to assume you grew up around video games, and played them with your kids when they were younger... or your husband like video games." Naruto explained away his deductions of Touko and how he was able to guess all of that.

Touko clapped, impressed.

"But how did you know I've barely touched the money my husband left behind?" Touko didn't have a clue how he figured that out.

"Because, you were smart enough to get a job. I'm going to guess that while your husband worked, you handled the finances of the house. You're good with money, and you knew that without income, the money he left behind wouldn't last. You have a good head on your shoulders... I'll bet you used the money to finish paying off any payments on your home and haven't touched it since... correct?" Naruto asked her with a slight smirk.

Miko was the most impressed of anyone.

"You're absolutely right. After I finished paying off the house, I wanted to save that money for an emergency. With my job, I can afford to pay the bills, and let my kids live comfortably since I don't have a house payment." Touko surprised Miko by admitting that. Touko looked down at the ring on her finger, and twisted it around as she looked at every part of it. "... and even though he's gone, I can't bring myself to take this off. I still love him very much."

Naruto nodded.

"Happily married women rarely remarry after their husband passes away. You wear the ring he gave you... you were happily married to a video game loving dork, the kind of guy who wouldn't hesitate to embarrass his kids... but he was a hard worker you made you feel loved, appreciated, and you felt safe following his lead. You married a great man." Naruto could see the sparks of loving memories appear in her eyes. She didn't cry at remembering her husband, instead, she fondly remembered all the good times that she had with him.

"You truly are a great detective."

"Humans are creatures of habit, once you can read those habits, you can look at somebody and pick them apart. I've gotten to know Miko, and I knew she had great, loving parents... you raised an amazing girl." Naruto stated with a broud grin of his own. Touko blushed, and Miko became shocked when her mother blushed.

Was she attracted to Naruto!?

No.

Naruto looked at her blush, and could see it was a blush of motherly pride in her children, as a warm and fuzzy feeling at being praised for doing a good job filled her with pride. It wasn't a blush of arousal of embarrassment, it was a motherly blush.

'Uh oh... big and scary.' Miko looked down when a large and terrifying spirit came through the wall.

Her mother couldn't see it of course.

Naruto glanced at the spirit, and Miko watched as one of his spiritual tails appeared and wrapped around the spirit, squeezing it as it cried out for mercy. Naruto tossed the spirit through the wall and sent it packing. The other less scary spirits in the cafe noticed this, and they walked out of the cafe without a word said.

-That Night-

"Anaconda the Badger... I get to see one of his matches in person!?" Miko was super excited to get front row seats to view her favorite wrestler. She was hopping up and down with stars in her eyes. She loved wrestling, and the Badger was her absolute favorite. He was the reason why she loved bears as her favorite animals.

"Yep." Naruto was standing between Touko and Miko.

If there was any foul play, he would be able to spot it by watching the match.

"... AND HIS OPPONENT WILL BE! BEE THE BULL!"

"Oh... oh this is uncool." Naruto stated as he watched Gyuki using his human host body take the ring, and Miko froze and looked at Naruto with worry. There was a good, a massive height and muscle difference between Anaconda and Gyuki, since Anaconda wasn't much taller than Miko was as a person. He just had massive muscles for a man his size, while Gyuki was massive in both height and muscle.

Realistically, the only way that Anaconda was going to win was if the match was rigged. He doubted that Gyuki would kill a human, because him and his ilk wanted to blend in with humans and live human lives.

"That guy is massive!" Touko was amazed by the height difference.

"Is Anaconda going to be okay?" Miko whispered.

"He'll be fine... but he isn't going to win unless Gyuki throws the match for him." Naruto muttered.

He was right.

Gyuki did throw the match, but as Naruto watched the match, he could tell that Anaconda was clueless to the fact his opponent had let him win. The man was very skilled, and very strong for a human, so the simple fact was that Naruto could easily tell that Anaconda wasn't the one rigging his matches. Naruto made eye contact with Gyuki though, who seemed very surprised to see Naruto at the match. The tall man became uncomfortable after the match.

-Late that Night-

"Okay, with that I can safely report to the client the match was rigged, but it wasn't Anaconda rigging the match, and he has no clue about it." Naruto started to type out the email to his client. Miko had been too scared for Anaconda's safety to enjoy the match like she usually would have. Touko was sitting on Naruto's bed with her daughter.

"So... I guess you two have a lot of work to do with reports and stuff, so I'll just see myself off." Touko decided that she had seen enough.

"Huh?" Miko stated in confusion.

'You two'?

"Yeah, as a big Anaconda fan, you should write a report on what you saw during the match. See if Anaconda was different than usual. You ARE a detective's assistant." Naruto reminded Miko. He was surprised that Touko had caught on that Naruto was going to have Miko give a report as well, but the woman was intelligent, so he should have guessed she would catch on.

Touko bowed.

"Please, look after Miko for me." Touko requested.

Thumbs up from Naruto.

"You want me to stay the night?" Miko asked her mother in shock.

"Well.. it is your part time work, and Naruto seems like a good person. It eases my worries after meeting him. So I don't mind if you stay over here when you're working." Touko would rather her daughter stay with Naruto when she worked, rather than walk home by herself late at night. Now that she knew that there were murders that didn't get reported in the news, she didn't feel quite as comfortable with Miko going out by herself at night.

"I'll keep an eye on her, I've got a ton of emails with clients to sort tonight. I'll walk Miko to school tomorrow on my way to one of them." Naruto assured the woman.

Touko leaned down to her daughter.

"I approve of him." Touko left with that statement in her ear.

Miko turned bright red.

THAT was embarrassing.

She KNEW that Naruto heard that!
