Once upon a time, long, long ago…well, more like 20 years ago. Prince Adam married Prince Shiro in front of 6,000 of their closest personal friends. Big cake.
So instead of a honeymoon, Shiro united all of the kingdoms and elected himself King of the United States of Altea. He rounded up all the villains and sidekicks and he booted them off to the Isle of Daibazal with a magical barrier created by the fairy godmother Shay, to keep them there.
This is my home.
No magic.
No wifi.
No way out. Or so I thought.
Calm down, you're about to meet me and my friends but first, this happened.
Meanwhile, in the palace, a boy with tan skin, short brown hair, and dark blue eyes stood on top of a wooden stand. He was dressed in a blue suit that matched with his blue eyes, with a white shirt underneath, and black shoes.
A man with ginger hair and a matching coloured mustache stood beside him with a measuring tape in his hands. This man was the tailor named Coran. The boy couldn't help but turn his head to the open windows. Staring intently outside.
"Sleeve," Coran said holding the boy's arm out straight to measure. "Head," next he measured his head. When he was done the boy turned his head back to the window.
Through the open doors, two men walked in, arm in arm. One had skin similar to his sons, brown hair, and brown eyes. He was dressed in black pants, a cream blouse, a brown blazer, and black shoes. He also wore a pair of silver glasses on his face.
This was King Adam of Altea.
The other man had pale skin, black hair with a white forelock, and dark grey eyes. He had a scar across his nose to his cheeks. He was dressed in black pants, a white blouse, a dark blue blazer with gold lining, and black shoes.
"I still can't believe you're going to be King soon," Shiro said with a smile. "Seems like yesterday that you were born," Adam smiled and picked up the loose clothing her son had left lying around.
"Well, he is going to be turning 18 soon," Lance smiled.
"18 just seems a little too young to be King," he glanced at his son with a smile. "The only time was I made a good decision like that was when I turned 29," Adam glared at his husband.
"And yet you married my brother at 26," a woman's voice called out. Lance turned and smiled seeing his aunt enter the room. Princess Allura to be exact. She was Adam's older sister by a year with long brown hair tied in a high bun and aqua blue eyes. She wore a blue pencil skirt, a white floral blouse, and black heels.
"Point proven," Shiro said pulling Adam towards him and kissing his cheek with a smile.
"Mom, Dad," he made a move to step off the box, but Coran stopped him.
"Apologies Your Highness but I'm not quite done," Lance rolled his eyes but stayed still.
"I've been thinking about what to do as my first proclamation and I think I've figured it out."
"What is it?" Adam asked pulling away from his husband turning his attention to his son.
"I want to give the children on the Isle a chance to live in Altea," Shiro turned back to Lance frustration swirling in his eyes.
"Let me get this right, you want the children of our most hated enemies living amongst us?" Lance nodded and stepped down towards his parents, despite Coran trying to stop him. "Just like that?"
"Well, not all of them, we'd of course start with a few at first as a test," he smiled.
"You've been spending a lot of time with Pidge I see," Allura said with a smile, Lance returned his smile and turned back to his parents.
"I've gone ahead and chosen a few I think would benefit from this experiment," Shiro raised an eyebrow crossing his arms.
"Have you now? Without consulting me?" Adam placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I gave you a chance when we first started dating," he turned towards Lance. "Who are their parents?" Lance smiled sheepishly.
"Sendak… Trugg… Ladnock…" with each name his parents nodded.
"Is that all?" Shiro asked eyeing his son, Lance shook his head.
"There's one more," Allura gave a small smile folding the jacket she took from Adam in her hands.
"Who?"
"Haggar," Allura's eyes widened dropping the jacket in shock. Coran took that moment to motion to the guards to close the door.
"Haggar! You want that witch's child running free in Altea!" Shiro yelled, Lance winced.
"Just hear me out here," Shiro shook his head.
"No, absolutely not," He walked towards the window glaring slightly at Lance. "Those monsters have committed the most evil crimes in the land, who knows what they have taught their children," Shiro said shaking his head. "Especially Haggar," Lance glared back challenging Shiro.
"They may be evil but their children are innocent in this," his gaze softened. "They've lived their whole lives on the Isle, don't they deserve a chance at a normal life?" Adam smiled at his son, giving his husband a look. Shiro sighed with a nod.
"He had a point you know," Allura said picking the jacket up and placing it back on Lance's bed. "It's not their fault their parents chose the path of evil."
"Yes I suppose their children are innocent," Shiro said with a sigh as Adam smiled and wrapped his arm around Shiro's, turning to Lance.
"Be sure to talk it over with Coran and finalize it," he said as he turned to Shiro. "Shall we?"
The couple headed out of the room closing the doors behind them. Allura turned to her nephew with a smile.
"Great job Lance," she said with a wink before she exited the bedroom. Lance sighed and stared out the window with a view to the Isle. He glanced nervously at the ring around his finger, hoping his father took in his consideration.
