The night was still, the cool breeze that should be sweeping across the lands was not there. The sky was covered in a thick and suffocating blanket of clouds. The Moon, a bloodied red, was an omen of death. It shined through the clouds, piercing the sky and covering the lands in red. Clad in his oversized, red Haori and black Hakama, Yoriichi understood the night was far too still.

Yoriichi ran aimlessly, till he reached his destination. He didn't know yet where his destination was, but he would find it. He knew that. As Yoriichi walked he couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't right. That something wrong had happened. Yoriichi didn't know what he sought, but being forced into labour wasn't it. Perhaps like his brother he could slay demons, though he didn't like the sword. Yoriichi looked to the sky, as if he could get an answer. He noticed the Moon had disappeared behind the clouds.

Yoriichi hadn't noticed but now that he saw the land again, it was covered in darkness. He knew that there was a large city nearby, perhaps he could work there. He had no destination now, he would simply keep running. He continued on his way as the mountains in the distance began to come near.

As the clouds began to brighten and the sky yellow, the sun awakened, but dimmed by the clouds. The land itself, though, did not brighten. The day seemed almost solemn. Yoriichi kept on his path, running through rice paddies. Whilst running he saw a girl. She looked around his age. But, she was just standing still, holding a bucket.

"What are you doing?" Yoriichi asked.

"My mum and dad died. I'm all alone now. I just take some tadpoles and return them again."

After that they just stood there waiting for hours, and when the sun went down she returned the tadpoles.

"You return them back don't you?" Yoriichi asked.

"Yes. I feel bad for those little ones since they might get separated from their family." the girl said.

"Then I'll go home with you."

"Really?". Yoriichi learnt her name was Uta, Uta never stopped talking and he liked that. But Yoriichi could never shake that feeling that something was wrong.

After a day of staying together Yoriichi asked if Uta would like to come with him, to check on his family. "Okay"

she had said. After checking on his family and realising that his worries were nothing, they would return home. They gathered the little food they had and they went together. Yoriichi learnt that not only do people see differently than him, but they aren't anywhere near as strong as him. Or Uta was just malnourished, but it didn't matter. He had to carry Uta on his back most of the way but he didn't mind.

Within a day they had arrived at their destinations with a few breaks for food on the way. Yoriichi noticed that it had begun snowing, the sky was still covered in a mass array of dark clouds. He arrived at his town, but it was deadly silent. The people were hidden in their homes. The snow covered the floor in a thick mattress, the chill truly beginning to set in.

Yoriichi let Uta off his back,

"Stay behind me, I have a feeling something bad has happened." Yoriichi said,

"Why?" Uta asked,

"I don't know, I just have a feeling."

He ran towards his home, with Uta following closely behind. Horror struck, as he saw the blood stained all over the wall.

"Stay outside." Yoriichi said,

and as he walked in, Uta was glad to comply. She could feel his growing dread and pain as she had felt it herself. Uta watched as Yoriichi walked in the large home, with growing fear. Yoriichi saw blood stained all over the front lawn. Walking cautiously into his home, he saw his brother's sword, bloodied and damaged. His worst case scenario was all but confirmed. Picking up the sword, he entered his home and immediately felt the foul stench of rot. Yoriichi walked into the central room and saw something that would be seared into his head forever.

His entire family, the servants he had known for his entire life, and even other villagers. dead ripped apart. They were strewn all across the floor, their organs and blood thrown all across the room. The sight almost drove him to tears. He felt sick. What monster had done this, what person could do such a thing? As he reluctantly scanned the room, he saw something in the dark covered in something he didn't know. Yoriichi walked slowly and cautiously towards the object. Upon closer inspection the object was covered in some sort of fleshy substance* It was almost like a flesh sack. Tendrils spread out from it and attached itself to the wall. He felt immense sadness, it reeked of evil, but that was not what pained him. For within it, was someone he knew dearly.

His dear brother, wrapped in evil, clothed in power and unmoving. Even with his ability to see through people into the transparent world, He could not clearly see if his brother was alive. As a wave of emotion came over Yoriichi, he wished to speak to his brother and apologise for leaving him when he needed him the most. Dropping the sword, he held the flesh wrapped corpse in his arms.

Uta had noticed Yoriichi had been inside for too long. She decided that she should go in, and make sure it was ok. Walking in cautiously, she fearfully noticed the blood all over the front lawn. She was beginning to regret her decision, but she would not abandon her friend in need. Uta stepped carefully into the home, the stench of rotted corpse wafted into her face. She was unable to breath, her body struggling to keep her stomach in control. But, Uta steeled herself and pressed on. She saw Yoriichi in the other room. She followed him and saw dead bodies all over the floor and most importantly Yoriichi in the middle of them. The room was dark, gloomy even, Uta walked over to Yoriichi to console him. Putting a hand on his shoulder she noticed what he was holding. A strange Flesh ball, she didn't know what it was but it seemed important.

Yoriichi looked up and saw Uta, with her beautiful, obsidian eyes. Yoriichi didn't know what to do.

"Are you ok?", Uta asked.

She obviously knew that he wasn't, but she didn't know what to say.

"I don't know", answered Yoriichi.

"I feel so much pain", he said.

He was lost, he wished he never left. Perhaps he could have done something. Just then Yoriichi felt something, a movement in his arm. Michikatsu, inside his cocoon, was shuffling. Yoriichi bent down to listen to his heart.

"What is it?" Uta asked,

"He moved, he might be alive."

Yoriichi could hear the beating of his brother's heart.

Looking up at Uta, he said

"He's alive!" Exclaimed Yoriichi.

The relief washed over him like rain.

"That's great but, I think we should get out of here," said Uta.

Unable to shake the feeling that something else might go wrong.

"I don't know if it is safe with me. You should find a place to stay. I can see that something isn't right, I will go another way" Yoriichi said.

Yoriichi picks up his brother's sword and cuts away at the tendrils. Yoriichi picks up the Flesh sack.

"Where will I find you?" Uta asks.

"I will come and find you when it is safe. Then we can live together in peace."

Uta runs out of the front of the house, whilst Yoriichi leaves out the back with his brother on his back. Yoriichi glances in Uta's direction and sees her running off.

Uta decides that she should just hide in the woods after that disgusting experience. She couldn't trust anybody here in case they were part of the murder. Poor Yoriichi, she thought, he just witnessed his entire family dead and now he has to go off all alone to save his brother. As she ran into the woods, she felt something was off about that. The murder didn't feel human. It was as though a beast had ravaged the entire family. Either way she would hide until Yoriichi would find her.

Yoriichi realises that he has to get his Brother to the nearby town, maybe they can help him. He starts to feel a cool liquid flowing down his back. Looking around he saw his brother more clearly, but most importantly blood. Run faster, Yoriichi thought. He ran as fast as he could until his legs couldn't move any faster. Then, his brother awoke. Screaming in rage, his brother shook with an unnatural strength. Yoriichi, off balance and caught in his emotions, slipped off the snowy and slippery cliff. The snow caught me, he thought. Where is Michikatsu? Yoriichi scanned the area, finding his brother standing upright. His head down, almost sickly pale, blood all over his clothing. Yoriichi got up and ran towards his brother,

"You don't have to walk, I'll carry you to town."

But his brother was unresponsive. Standing still, only looking down. Just then his brother swiped at him.

The hand was a blur, and Yoriichi narrowly dodged the attack. That speed was unnatural, what was going on. Michikatsu looked up, and Yoriichi noticed that he was not normal anymore. He was deathly pale, his hair let loose, on his face were red markings resembling flames on the top left side of his forehead and the bottom right of his chin, and most importantly he had three sets of eyes on his face with yellow irises and red flesh sclera that have black straight lines diverging from each iris. His top set replaced his eyebrows and his bottom set resided on his cheeks. Yoriichi's brother was a Demon.

Michikatsu charged in a blur of motion, catching Yoriichi off guard, pouncing on Yoriichi and trying to bite him. Michikatsu wasn't a demon, he couldn't be, thought Yoriichi. Unfortunately, Michikatsu's six eyes told him otherwise. Yoriichi used the sword to prevent his brother from biting him. Michikatsu biting on the sword was trying to grab at Yoriichi, his strength was overwhelming. His brother was a demon, his family had been Murdered, he only has his brother left now. Yoriichi began to notice that Michikatsu was getting stronger. Then he realised it was not just the strength but his weight too, he is getting bigger*.

His strength is too much, and he couldn't hurt his only remaining family member.

"Brother, please, you have to stop."

Tears began to form in his eyes. He had lost everything, and the pain in his heart was unbearable. but he stopped them, tears would be of no use. But much to his surprise, His brother began to cry, from all six of his eyes. Yoriichi noticed a different sound from the distant quick footsteps padding in the snow, and it seemed his brother noticed too. Hearing the hiss of a blade being unsheathed, Yoriichi knew immediately who the person was after. His brother.

With a quick movement Yoriichi threw off his brother and pulled him underneath him, barely dodging the strike. Yoriichi rolls away with his brother in his arms. Michikatsu had managed to shrink quickly enough to make that move easier. My brother is in there. I can still save him. He looked up at the mysterious swordsman. Who is he? Yoriichi thought. The swordsman lunged at him once more. His speed is incredible, Yoriichi thought, but I could match it. Dodging the blow Yoriichi readies his brother's sword, which he still carried in his hand.

Is he a demon slayer? Giyu Tomioka thinks. No couldn't be he doesn't have the Uniform, perhaps in training? If so, why would he be defending the demon?

"Are you a demon slayer?" asks Giyu.

"No", responds the boy.

"Why do you have a Nichirin Sword?", asks Giyu.

"This is my brother's sword," the boy says. So his brother is a demon slayer. Unfortunately for the boy's brother, he became a demon. Just then the demon boy rose, malefic intent exuding from his stature. He may attack the boy, thought Giyu.

"Behind you!" He called,

as he charged forward at blinding speeds. The boy looked behind him. The demon jumped in front of his brother, as Giyu went to strike. The demon threw a punch at the sword, possibly in an attempt to break it, the sword sliced straight through his arm. It seems the demon thought Giyu was attacking his brother, and decided to protect them. Could they be different? Giyu thought.

Yoriichi saw the Swordsman, whom he thought might be a demon slayer, knock his brother out. He didn't know what to feel and as his emotions took control of his thoughts, the demon slayer brought down the pommel of his sword upon his head. As all faded to black, Yoriichi hoped Michikatsu would be safe.

As Yoriichi awoke he saw the demon slayer again.

"Are you awake?"

Asked the demon slayer. He didn't wait for a response and kept talking,

"Go to the elder Urokodaki Sakonji, who lives at the base of the Misty Mountains, he can help you. tell him Giyu Tomioka sent you."

"Keep your brother away from Sunlight and away from people."

Yoriichi was shocked by the sudden kindness of the swordsman named Giyu Tomioka.

"Thank you, but why have you changed your mind?" asked Yoriichi.

Giyu looked thoughtful for a while before turning around and walking away. It seems he didn't want to answer that question, thought Yoriichi.

"Please, can you go to my village over there." he said pointing to his village,

"and bring a girl named Uta to the Misty Mountains as well."

The swordsman may have nodded but he didn't know for sure. Either way Yoriichi picked up his still unconscious brother, walked in the direction of the Misty Mountains.

As he walked he noticed the daylight pierce through the clouds. He sped up to a full sprint in an attempt to find shelter for his brother. If he couldn't find something now his brother would be in trouble. In the distance he saw a cave,

"You'll be safe in there brother."

he said mostly to himself. Arriving at the cave he dropped his brother in, and waited for him to wake up. Just then all six of his brothers' eyes opened.

Giyu walked towards the village Yoriichi was speaking of, as he entered the village he noted the people were in hiding. Well that's obvious, a demon just came and murder one of the families. He wandered about until he realised that she was probably not in the village itself. The girl could be hiding in the woods, he thought. Giyu ventured around the outskirts of the village, until he saw someone. A girl, that must be her.

"Who are you?" asked Giyu.

"Who are you?" asked the girl back. Giyu ignored that question and pressed on.

"I am looking for a girl named Uta, is that you?" he asked once more.

"Maybe," she said.

"Yoriichi sent me."he said, perhaps that would prove his legitimacy.

"Really?" she said, her face lighting up.

"Yes, I am to take you to Mount Sagiri."

"Thank you, what's your name?" she asked.

"Giyu Tomioka."

Michikatsu felt the hatred emanating through his veins, for the one who made him like this. His skin had darkened from exposure to the sun to the colour of an ashed volcano. He wasn't even in the sun and yet he felt burnt. His pathetic little brother couldn't even keep him in shelter*. He had no words to say to that coward and yet he couldn't help but notice that his brother had done everything for him. Not everything, he thought, he got everything and yet squanders his life away. "Brother you're awake!" Said Yoriichi, the sun shining on him making him look as happy as possible. Of course he's happy, thought Michikatsu. "I'll find a way to get you out of here away from the sun, so we can travel during the day. You just need to stay here whilst I find something." Michikatsu had nothing to say to his brother. He simply turned around and waited.

Yoriichi saw his brother turn around and felt a swirl of emotions course through him. whoever made Michikatsu a demon will pay, whoever killed his family will pay. It pained him to see his brother feel this way, but he had no sweet words that would help his brother. He left in search of something to aid him on his journey.

He ran in the direction of farms in hopes he would find some people. In his running he found a farm with some people. They each carried on their backs a basket. Those baskets could definitely help me, they look thick and sturdy enough to carry Michikatsu. He walked up to one of the farmers,

"excuse me mister, may I have one of your baskets?" asked Yoriichi.

"Yeah sure, but you'll have to take that one," the man said, pointing to a broken basket in the distance.

"as we can't afford to waste any of the ones we have," he continued.

Unfortunately the broken basket was in poor condition. Noticing Yoriichi's disappointment, the man felt bad.

"If you want to fix it up, we have some straw and bamboo," he said. Yoriichi felt relieved,

"How much do I pay you?" Yoriichi asked.

"No no, it's for free. I couldn't charge a boy for something so little." the man replied.

"Thank you." said Yoriichi, grateful for the man's kindness. He took the broken basket and materials and spent some time trying to fix it. After about an hour, he had completely fixed the basket and returned to the cave his brother was in.

Yoriichi called out to his brother,

"Brother I have returned, please come here." After some time his brother came towards him.

"I have a basket, you can sit in here and I can carry you safely to the mountain." His brother looked absolutely disgusted at the idea of sitting in a basket.

"Come on, there is no other way," he said. Though his brother clearly looked as though he vehemently opposed this, he relented. His brother crawled towards the basket Yoriichi had placed in the cave. As he entered the basket he began to shrink, to fit in the basket. Picking up the basket, he went on his journey. On the way to the mountain he learnt the actual name of the mountain, Mount Sagiri.

Day had turned to night and true darkness began to set in. He was close to the base of the mountain, and in a few minutes he would arrive there. He felt something was off, similar to the feeling he got when he lost his family. He saw a nearby temple that was eerily quiet, save for a blood-curdling squelching sound as though someone was eating raw flesh. Yoriichi knew something was wrong. Drawing his brother's sword, he moved towards the temple. Entering the temple he saw dead bodies strewn across the floor, their blood spilt across the floor like a red sea. In the middle of it all, was someone holding a dead body with his back turned to the wall. Yoriichi's presence seemed to alert the man, but when he turned around, he wasn't just holding the body, he was eating it. He's a demon.

"What, get out of my territory, this is my feeding ground," said the Demon.

"Oh, your a human." the demon said, his face twisting into a queer grin. Yoriichi immediately jumped back out of the temple and the demon followed.

The Demon leaped out the temple and towards Yoriichi, and Yoriichi weaved gracefully. Once again the Demon went for another strike,

"you're fast, but I'll still catch you."

Yoriichi dodged smoothly once more. He didn't know what it was, but it felt different from fighting Giyu, it felt like this had a purpose. He felt calm and serene, as if he had no emotion. Weaving once more, he raised his sword from his side to his front in a combat stance and prepared to strike. He contracted his muscles, angled his bones, and controlled the flow of his blood. Yoriichi blasted forward at immense speed, slicing straight through the demon's neck.

The demon dropped to the ground immediately,

"why am I not regenerating?!"*.

Yoriichi had nothing to say to the man-eating demon. Unfortunately for him, the demon's head was still attached to his body, by a small bit of flesh that still remains. his lack of actual training was clearly showing, but it wouldn't matter he would just finish the demon off now. Yoriichi then felt a rumbling in his basket, his brother tore straight through the basket. Pushing Yoriichi aside, he ran straight at the demon.

"What the hell are you?" said the demon, as if it wasn't obvious. What Michikatsu did next though, was something Yoriichi never expected.

Michikatsu ripped the demon's head clean off, and threw it in the direction of his brother. He then began ripping pieces off the demon and eating them. As the demon screamed in agony, Yoriichi didn't know what to do. Eventually his brother absorbed the remainder of the demon into his body. Suddenly the head of the demon gained a new set of arms and began to run. Yoriichi went to follow, but his brother dashed towards the demon with such great speed, it was like hearing thunder. Once again Yoriichi felt pain in his heart for his brother, he was always a proud warrior and yet he had been transformed into some mindless beast. Michikatsu began eating the head, but Yoriichi saw someone in the corner of his eye. A man, an old man. With some sort of tengu mask. The man had a sword and was preparing to charge at Michikatsu. "Michikatsu! Watch out" Yoriichi yelled out, but to no avail. Michikatsu was too busy eating. The man began to charge at Michikatsu, and so did Yoriichi, but each was doing it for different reasons. Suddenly the man changed his speed, becoming incredibly fast, and his target was now Yoriichi. Yoriichi was immediately caught off guard, and as the man came close Yoriichi hoped that Michikatsu was safe.

"Moon Breathing First Form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace".

Michikatsu created a sword from out of his hand and performed a singular horizontal slash following a crescent shape, creating numerous chaotic crescent blades along its path, before he placed the sword back in his scabbard, which he was surprised he still had. Whilst eating the demon, he had gained a lot of strength he did not know he had. Maybe it was because he was hungry, but he didn't know. He had not aimed it at the old man but his sword. It seemed the old man wasn't expecting it but he was experienced enough to block it. The old man immediately retreated back.

"I am Sakonji Urokudaki, Giyu Tomioka sent word to me of you two. I was attacking to confirm what I heard of you and your brother."

He said to Yoriichi. "Follow me, we have a lot to do." The man said.

Yoriichi looked at Urokudaki and wondered what he was thinking about. That demon boy, Sakonji thought, was far too powerful to be created on some whim by Muzan. And that attack, that must have been some kind of breathing style, I am sure of it. Yet I have never seen or heard of anything like it, nor did he see a blade of any kind. He hadn't noticed until now, but he had numerous light cuts across his hands. Was that a blood demon art? How much blood did the demon king give him?

"Yoriichi," he called out, turning towards the boy.

"What would you do if your brother killed a human?" The boy hesitated.

"Do not hesitate!", he would have slapped him then and there, had he not been quick to action against other demons. "I would never let that happen," said Yoriichi. Right answer. The boy seems sure of himself, and the way he handled that demon was impressive. Perhaps we have a prodigy on our hands. "We will see. Now keep moving, we have a lot to do."

Thanks for the patience I took some time to write this. I really have a lot of ideas for the upcoming chapters and have planned out most of the story, so be sure to stick around. Thank you for the nice reviews as well.

I don't know how the demons transform, it was said that it took 3 days for Kokushibo to transform and so I doubt he did it just sleeping out in the open. So I took inspiration from Muzan's flesh ball and downgraded it.

For the sake of fitting in the basket and being intimidating, let's allow Michikatsu to have the size changing of Nezuko.

Not only was Michikatsu jealous of Yoriichi, you have to remember Muzan changes the thoughts and memories of those he transforms.

Michikatsu was training to be a demon slayer, that's a nichirin sword.
