Chapter 10: A Friendship Surrendered
Author's note: Chapter 10, y'all. I finally made double digits. This is the beginning of Arc 2: Ruffled Relationships. For those who've made it this far, I want to say thank you for sticking with this journey. You all made Gravity Winx the way it is. From here on out, things are gonna get interesting when it comes to lore. For those who think this is going to happen, let's say things are getting pretty wild. Also, there will be a crossover element with Chapter 13 of my other story 'The Protectors: Clash of Gems".
At a certain dorm room at Cloud Tower, a lone witch woke up in her room. Pacifica opened up her eyes and yawned. Fortunately for her, she felt great. Pacifica got up, took a shower, and changed her clothes as she was getting ready to start the day. As she was making herself some breakfast, she received a knock on the door. Pacifica grunted annoyed that someone was pulling her away from her food, got up, and answered it. She found that it's Griffin who's at her doorstep.
"Morning, Headwitchstress Griffin," Pacifica said, her mood changing as she saw her.
"Good morning, Pacifica," Griffin said back to her. "Looks like somebody's feeling a lot better."
"Thanks for noticing," Pacifica said, feeling happy and energized. "And it's thanks to you for helping me out."
"You cured yourself, Pacifica," Griffin said. "All I did was help out a favorite student of mine. Gave you a little nudge to the clear side."
"You did more than that, headwitchstress," Pacifica said as she let her in. "So what's up?"
"I only came by so I can free the other Trix from their weekend-long punishment. Plus, nobody should be in the Detention Dimension during Day of the Rose," Griffin said as she used her magic to summon a portal from the ceiling of the dorm, dropping Icy, Darcy, and Stormy onto the couch.
"Ugh, my aching wrists..." Stormy said as she tried grabbing her wrists.
"Your wrists?" Darcy said as she sat up. "Try my aching EVERYTHING!"
Pacifica smiled and hugged the other 3 witches on the couch as they were all surprised.
"It's about time you jailbirds got out of there," Pacifica said to them as Icy leaned back a bit.
"Ugh, Pacifica, stop it with the mushy shit," Icy said, trying her best not to seem weak in front of Griffin, but in reality, was super glad to see her again.
"I'm glad to see somebody's not a booger blah anymore," Stormy said, excited to see Pacifica healed up.
"Careful, Pacifica," Darcy said, smiling a bit. "Writing on an endless chalkboard was very exhausting."
"Well, looks like my work here is done," Griffin said as she dusted her hands off. But before she could leave, Pacifica got off of her sisters and handed Griffin an envelope.
"For you, Headwitchstress," Pacifica said. "It's not much, but I wanted to give you something for Day of the Rose." Griffin smiled and took the envelope. She opened it and received 1000 dollars. "It's for being there when I needed it the most."
"Thank you, Pacifica," Griffin said, thankful to Pacifica for her gift. She might not be her daughter, but she's proud of the progression she's made here. She's advancing more than any newbie in her memory, and she's got three incredible witches watching over her, even if they aren't the BEST role models a 13-year-old could have. She can't help but feel a sense of parental pride with her. "I wish you all a good day. May the Rose's blossom be with you." And with that, Griffin left the Trix's dorm.
"What was that saying?" Pacifica asked her roommates.
"Oh, that? That's just a saying thrown around for Day of the Rose," Stormy said, informing Pacifica.
"It's no different than saying 'Merry Christmas' or 'May the force be with you' back on Earth," Darcy said to Pacifica.
"Huh..." Pacifica said to herself as she got an idea. "Why don't the four of us just hang out today?"
"You mean in town, just... having a good time?" Stormy asked.
"Yeah, why not?" Pacifica said. "I need some fresh air after being sick all weekend, and you guys want to stretch your legs since you were all stuck in detention all weekend."
"She makes a good point," Darcy told Stormy and Icy.
"Yeah, Icy, can we do it?" Stormy pleaded with Icy, who smiled at them.
"Alright, alright, we can go out," Icy said as she grabbed her purse. "We're heading out in 5 minutes, sisters."
Over at Alfea's dorm rooms, Bloom was still fast asleep in her bed as she was tossing in it. Bloom was floating in a dark void inside her dream, and the only things she could see were herself, and surprisingly, Dipper and Mabel. Mabel was annoying Dipper by poking his face, and Dipper was trying to swat her away. Bloom was confused as to why she was dreaming this.
"Stop it, Mabel!" Dipper said to Mabel, now visibly annoyed. "Why isn't this working? This should be my dream. I should be on a beach, hanging with Wendy and making jerks like Robbie and Riven jealous of me and my natural charms."
"In your dreams, dream Dipper," Mabel said, still poking him. "This is my dream, and in my dream, the cool sister pokes her dorky brother."
"Wait, why am I dreaming about this?" Bloom asked the two of them. "I should be dreaming of Brandon sweeping me off my feet and taking me to a lovely castle. You know, classic fairytale ending."
"Ok, this is weird. But there's no way to know who's dreaming of whom, or who's really in control," Dipper said, thinking about it.
"Wait, are we all sharing the same dream?" Mabel asked. As she asked that, The Ghost Lady appeared in front of them.
"THE GHOST LADY FROM CLOUD TOWER?!" The three of them said in surprise.
"Bloom, thank goodness I found you again," The Ghost Lady said as she saw her, but also saw Dipper and Mabel. "Mabel? Mason? what are you two doing here?"
"Mason?" Bloom asked, confused and shocked to learn that Dipper's real name was Mason.
"DON'T CALL ME THAT, DAMN SPECTER!" Dipper yelled without thinking. He then stopped himself after and shrunk down. "Sorry... but I don't like that name. It's just Dipper... please." The Ghost Lady kneeled and hugged him.
"Sorry about that," The Ghost Lady said. "It's just that I haven't gotten to talk to anyone in years. I was expecting Bloom to see and speak to me, but I never expected you or your adorable sister to see me."
"But why are you in my dream?" Bloom asked.
"I wanted to go to just your dream, but it suddenly connected me to these two, so it's shared between the three of us," the Ghost Lady said as the dream started rumbling. "It looks like someone's waking one of you up, so I'll say that you and your club have me as an ally. I'll try to explain more soon." As she said that, the dream went white, and they all woke up.
In Bloom's room, she woke up to see Stella hovering over her and trying to shake her.
"BLOOM, WAKE UP!" Stella said as she was shaking her awake.
"Gah..." Bloom said as she got up. "This better be important, Stella."
"It is, Bloomy," Stella said, holding up two different dresses. "Should I wear this blue dress today, or should I wear this orange sundress?" As she said that, Bloom tossed a pillow at Stella, but she brushed it off.
"I'm going back to bed," Bloom said as she then snuggled back into bed. "Damn ghost lady entered my dream and forced the twins into it for some weird reason." Stella then yoinked her covers off her bed as Bloom groaned again.
"We have a day off from classes today, and you're gonna spend it while being a lump on a log?" Stella said as she was annoyed with her bestie's behavior. "We should go out and party!"
"Wait, today's a day off?" Bloom said as she got out of bed. She saw Flora and Layla dressed for the day, standing in front of the dorm from her open room.
"Yeup, today's Day of the Rose," Layla said as she grabbed her bag on her back. "So Flora and I are going to head to the bus stop so we can see our families." As she said that, Tecna walked out of her room with her bag.
"Hold the door, I wish to accompany you as well," Tecna said as she joined them. "I promised my mother we would attend the finest restaurant in the city for lunch."
"Finest grease trap in the city, you mean," Flora said as she insulted Tecna.
"I'm a little lost. What exactly is the Day of the Rose?" Bloom asked the three of them.
"Oh, that's easy," Flora said. "Today's the day where we celebrate our mothers."
"Sounds a lot like Mother's Day back on Earth," Mabel said as she walked out of her room and saw this. "I remember Dipper and me giving our mom a sweater and a 50-dollar gift card a few months ago." She says this as Dipper walked out of his room, yawning as he did not want to be awake so early.
"Hope you all celebrate it with your mothers," Layla said as she opened the door.
"May the Rose's blossom be with you," Flora added as the three of them left the dorm. As they left, Musa walked out as she was grumpier than usual.
"Good, they're gone," Musa said as she walked to the kitchen area. "If I have to hear that fucking saying again today, I WILL beat a bitch half to death." The other 4 were shocked to hear such violence from Musa. They knew she would throw hands if able, but she seemed more punch-happy than usual. They don't wanna fight Musa, but they are willing to hold her back if she starts throwing hands for something as small as this.
"Hey, Musa, you good?" Mabel asked her as Musa knew she and the others were worried for her.
"Trust me, it's nothing," Musa said to Mabel. She knew Mabel meant well, so she did not get as mad as her.
"Let's do something today!" Stella said, trying to get their attention. "We've got no classes, no teachers besides, and most importantly: no homework!"
"What what can we do?" Bloom asked, not knowing what to do.
"After breakfast, let's do something today in the city," Mabel said as she and Dipper started filling up the bowls for their pets.
"If people are even open today," Dipper reminded all of them.
"Oh trust me Dipper. I know exactly what to do," Stella said, reassuring him she had a plan. Dipper, Mabel, Bloom, and Musa all looked at each other and gulped nervously as they knew how wild Stella could be when she put her back into it. If only she could use this behind her classes, Stella wouldn't be in danger of failing.
A few minutes later, the remaining five were dressed and ready for the day as they walked out of the dorm room and down to the bus stop outside the school. Before they left, Mabel entrusted Waddles with keeping an eye on the dorm from Furball and Kiko.
"Now that our pets are watching themselves while we go out and have fun, what is there to do in Magix City?" Mabel asks Stella as they walk down the hallway.
"There's this amazing street fair happening today, and everyone's invited!" Stella said in a happy tone. "There are rides, tons of food, shows, and even a special Red Fountain race happening!"
"A fair, huh," Dipper thought about it for a second. "No Grunkle Stan budget, no time traveling baldy, no messing up a chance with Wendy by accidentally constantly giving her a black eye while messing with time... sounds like fun."
"Yeah, and that's when we met Waddles," Mabel said. "I won him from a fair." Mabel then gasped as she had an idea. "You think this time we can win Waddles a sibling?"
"Wait, what was that about a time traveler?" Bloom caught that part of Dipper's explanation list. The more she hears of Dipper and Mabel's adventures, the more she wonders what truly happened during the summer a few months ago.
"Wait, constant black eyes?" Musa said, worried.
"Long story short, I wanted to win her this knock-off plushie at a fair back during the summer, and it was either that or help Mabel with her pig," Dipper quickly explained. "I chose the pig after a time travel escapade. Luckily, things turned out right and she got the plushie that day."
"Probably be better if we had at least 22 minutes to explain what happened," Mabel added on. As they were all chatting and walking, they saw Wizgiz leaving the school with a present in his hands.
"Professor Wizgiz? What are you doing out here?" Stella asked of the leprechaun.
"Oh me? I'm just on my way to Magix City," Wizgiz happily answered them. "After all, can't I have a mother?" He shapeshifted into a bird and tipped his hat to the group as he said that. "Ta-ta!" As he said that, he flew out the window and headed straight to town.
"See, he had the same idea we did," Stella said, informing her BFFF's, which is short for best fairy friends forever. "I knew I was smart."
"Wait, can he actually read our minds?" Dipper said, now worried about the thought. "I never had to ask until now."
"Nah, he can't," Stella said but smirked. "But I can."
Expecting a surprised yelp, Dipper started chuckling at Stella. "Nice try, Stella, but I've secretly trained myself to know who's trying to peer into my mind, and I would have felt your light grip of fashion, shopping, and tons of makeup tips flow in my mind if you did."
"Aw man, there goes my joke," Stella said as Dipper patted her on her back.
"But we could do the same thing when we see Riven today," Dipper said, trying to cheer her up. And it worked.
"OOH, YES!" Stella said as she perked back up. "I bet he's got a dirtier mind than you."
"Yeah, he probably does," Dipper said as he realized what was said and took offense. "HEY!" Mabel and Musa couldn't help but snicker at the comment.
"Come on, guys," Bloom said, defending him.
"Alright, alright, enough's enough," Stella said. "We can save the jokes for Riven."
"Sure, but for now, let's take to the skies!" Mabel said as she hugged Stella. "Carry me?"
"But you're doing so well in fighting your fear of heights, Mabel," Stella said, trying to motivate her.
"But I'm not 100% over that fear, Stella," Mabel told Stella as she hugged her. "Please?"
"Of course!" Stella happily said to Mabel. "There's no way I'd let one of my besties be scared like that."
As the remaining Winx Club members headed outside, they saw some of the other students on the bus that were about to leave question the 5 fairies.
"You five aren't going to Magix City today?" One of the fairies asked.
"Oh no, we are," Stella said as the Winx Club transformed and started hovering. "But we've decided to take to the skies."
"Hey, no fair," Francine, another fairy, exclaimed as the bus drove off.
"Bye! See you later," Stella said as she waved the bus off.
"Was the taunting really necessary?" Dipper asked Stella.
"If you got it, Dipper, then you've gotta flaunt it," Stella said as she struck a pose. "And yes, I do mean with the wings on your backs."
"Yeah right," Dipper scoffed as Musa nodded in agreeance.
"Enough chit-chatting, guys, for the street fair awaits!" Mabel said as she pointed to the town, and everyone agreed with her.
"To a new day!" Bloom added on, acting like a leader.
While the Winx Club was flying towards Magix City, Stella was curious on why so many of her best friends were still here and not spending time with their parents, specifically their mothers, during this day.
"So, what made you all want to stay here today?" Stella asked, trying to break the ice with her friends. "Bloomy?"
Bloom sighed and began, "It's because I miss my mom and dad. If I go back, I'll get homesick to the point where I start hyper-focusing on home, which will cause my grades to slip." As she said that, Stella hugged Bloom tightly.
"Oh Bloom, I know that feeling," Stella said. "Your parents are nice folks, so I totally get it. At least they're still together..."
"Wait, Stella, are your parents-" Mabel began to ask as Stella cut her off.
"Divorced? Yes, they are," Stella said, now with a disappointed tone of voice. "They've been apart for years." As she said that, Mabel rushed over and gave Stella a big hug.
"I'm so sorry," Mabel said, apologizing for being insensitive.
"It's quite alright, sweetie," Stella said to Mabel. "None of you knew about my folks."
"But what does this mean for Solaria?" Bloom asked.
"My mom went back to the moon of Mewni, while Dad is still king of Solaria, and is seeing a new woman," Stella said, upset that it happened. "I don't like my dad's new girlfriend. I think she's nothing more than a dragon-damned gold digger."
"Yeah, that shit's always rough," Musa said as if she was speaking from experience. "Trust me."
"Wait, your parents are divorced too?" Bloom asked.
"Not exactly..." Musa said as she looked away. My Mom died a long time ago when I was 5." Needless to say, the Winx Club was shocked by this new information.
"Holy shit," Bloom whispered under her breath.
"Marinette did say her aunt died when she was super young," Mabel whispered to Dipper.
"It adds up," Dipper whispered to himself.
"I am so sorry about that," Stella said, pulling Musa in for a hug.
"It's... fine, don't worry about it," Musa said, not really fine.
"Of course, I'm going to worry. I hate seeing my besties so upset," Stella said, hugging Musa tighter. While Musa was visibly annoyed with Stella, she couldn't deny that she needed the hug.
"So what about you two?" Musa asked Dipper and Mabel. "You two aren't gonna visit your parents?"
"Oh, Mom and Dad just said for us to hang out here today," Mabel replied.
"Our Mother's Day was back a few months ago, so we filled our quota for the year," Dipper added.
"So we're going to spend today having fun with our family away from family," Mabel finished. Stella couldn't help but feel honored, Bloom felt less homesick, and Musa lowered her guard, feeling comradery with the twins and the rest of the club.
In Magix City, we see Sky, Riven, Brandon, and Wendy in their Specialist uniforms, walking through the street fair, where games are played, mini rides are ridden, and food is being devoured. Fairies, Witches, Specialists, Elves, Leprechauns, and everything in between are welcome during this Day of the Roses festival.
"Man, I've always wanted to visit a Magix Day of the Roses fair. I hear they have the best rides," Sky said, impressed with the sights.
"You said it," Brandon said, agreeing with him. "Lots of people here today share our opinion."
"I always forget you two grew up together on your homeworld," Wendy commented. "Must have been nice."
"Overall, it was nice," Brandon said, looking back on it.
"Ugh, people," Riven said as he rolled his eyes. "There's just so many people here today, especially on the streets."
"Well, it won't be much of a street fair if it wasn't on the streets," Wendy replied, mocking Riven.
"Yeah, and they're doing what we should be doing right now, relaxing from training," Brandon added, earning a glare from Riven.
"There's always training to do, unless you wanna be like Timmy and Helia," Riven scoffed.
"Riven, don't be such a downer," Sky said, trying to ease him back. As Sky and Riven were focused on each other, Wendy saw that a young girl was looking up at her in awe.
"You're pretty," She said to her. "I never knew girls could be Specialists."
"You know, if you trained hard enough, you could attend Red Fountain one day," Wendy said as she saw the little girl's eyes light up in excitement. As she giggled and ran back to her father, who was waving to her to come back, Wendy and the other Specialists saw Bloom and the rest of the Winx Club land in front of them.
"Hey, boys!" Stella said, going up to Sky and giving him a hug and a kiss. "Did you miss me?"
"Verily," Sky replied as he kissed Stella again.
"Good to see you again, Bloom," Brandon said, walking up to Bloom.
"Brandon!" Bloom happily said as she went up and hugged him, thus making Riven gag.
"Ugh, get a room, you two," Riven said, disgusted.
"Hey, just because you can't get a date, doesn't mean you can take it out on the rest of us, Robbie," Dipper said to Riven, comparing him to someone he knew.
"Now that you mention it, Riven is basically just Robbie with a sword," Mabel said, thinking about it. Wendy was barely able to hide her laughter as she knew they were not wrong.
"Oh shut up, fairy boy," Riven said, pouting even more.
"Don't stop talking, Dipper," Musa said, smiling from under her mask. She was clearly enjoying this a bit too much. As she did that, they heard a bunch of engines roaring in the distance. The fairies saw that there was a makeshift race track with some Specialists on Windriders preparing themselves. Some were tinkering with their rides, while others were doing some practice runs.
"What's going on over there?" Bloom asked.
"The Race of the Rose is happening in a few hours, and the four of us are entering it," Sky said with pride. "Specialists do this to help raise money for charity."
"Except I'll be the one crossing the line first," Riven said, now confident. "It may be for charity, but the winner also gets a day off of classes, and I'll win it for myself."
"Nah, I'd win," Wendy said calmly. "A day of no work and no penalties? It's a dream come true."
"Such is the way of the lazies," Musa said, nodding in agreement.
"But isn't this a bit unsafe, even with your space-age outfits and capes?" Dipper wondered, worried for Wendy if she crashed.
"He's right, you know," Stella added. "And as romantic as it would be to nurse Sky back to health, there's only so much I can do without relying on Flora's next-level healing powers."
"Don't you worry, guys, because not only does this race have a force field to protect the audience, but there's also an on-site team of top-notch doctors, both from the local hospital and from Specialists who are training to be field medics to help with the driver," Brandon explained as right on queue, a Specialist who was doing a practice run of the course went out of control as his bike was flown to the bleachers, but only to be stopped by a technology made barrier. At the same time, the driver was being helped by 2 other specialists with medical decals on their shoulders and a doctor.
"Even if we eat shit out there, we'll be fine," Sky added. "But it's sweet of you two thinking about us."
"But that won't be for a few hours, so we got some time to kill," Brandon says as he then thinks of something. "What do you say about exploring the city for a bit?"
"That sounds lovely," Bloom said.
"Sounds fun, but I might need to leave in a bit," Mabel said. "I've got a date with Pacifica."
"Pacifica? The metal witch from the Trix, who we currently have scuffles with?" Brandon said, remembering who Mabel meant.
"That's the one!" Mabel said with confidence. "She said she'll tell me why she's with them."
"I don't trust the Trix as far as I can throw them, but learning why she's with them could help figure out what they really want," Dipper explained, hoping to get the point across.
"I'm just glad she's doing ok, despite all of this happening," Wendy elaborated, worried for her rich friend.
"But hey, we should be able to regroup by the time your race starts," Mabel reassured the Specialists so they felt a bit better.
"And after that, there's another ball at Alfea we're gonna head to," Stella finished off.
"Wait, there's another ball?" Dipper and Wendy asked in unison.
"Uh, yeah," Stella said. "Where were you two in all this?"
"Just vibing and doing our own thing," Wendy said.
"Yeah, like bad movie nights and simple dinner dates," Dipper added. "The little things that make people happy."
"Figure it out later, because tonight, all I'm doing is getting a date with Lady Victory," Riven said, still his eyes on the prize.
"And that's all you're getting," Brandon said, now annoyed. "Lady Victory won't cheer for you. Heck, nobody will."
"Yeah, Stella is cheering me on, Dipper for Wendy, Brandon for Bloom, and Mabel and Musa is gonna cheer for the three of us," Sky said. "Which leaves you going stag."
"Fuck you, it doesn't," Riven retorted. "If I win, girls will be swarming all over me just for a dance with the winner, and if I do win, I'll pick whoever one I'll go with."
"Yeah, just do it away from any of us," Musa said, snarking as Riven grabbed her hand.
"And I feel like picking either Bloom or Musa," Riven smiled as the rest of the group gasped, some in shock and others in horror. "I see you two stealing glances at me."
"EW, NO!" Musa said as she yanked her hand away. "I'm a lesbian, jackass. And even if I wasn't, there's no way I'd go out with such a showboating, overconfident, punchable face of a loser like you!"
"Yeah, what's your deal?" Bloom said, defending Musa. "She and I don't like you that way. In fact, she should go out with whoever she wants to, just like how I have some feelings towards Brandon, who I will go with after he wins today."
"Bloom, I could have said that first part myself," Musa said to her.
"Yeah, but if someone messes with one of us, they mess with all of us," Stella said, also defending Musa as Dipper and Mabel did the exact same.
"So this is what it's like to have friends," Musa whispered to herself. As she thought of this, she got her composure back and started leering at Riven. "So yeah, go ahead and win. Set a new course record for all I care about. But do NOT treat me as a trophy prize, because I'm not anyone's prize to win, and don't think for a second that you can treat the rest of my club the same way."
"Fine, do whatever you want. Just don't cry to me when you mess up," Riven said, flipping everyone off as he stormed away.
"Ugh, great. He stormed off like a baby," Sky said as he complained.
"We better keep an eye on him so he doesn't ruin anyone else's day," Brandon said, agreeing with Sky as the two of them followed Riven without being seen.
"I don't even wanna think about him right now," Musa said as she turned around. "I think I'm gonna grab some grub."
"Speaking of grub, what time is it?" Mabel asked as she checked her phone. "OH CRAP, IM LATE FOR MY DATE!" She said as she bolted off.
"Meet us at the race track when you can," Stella shouted to Mabel. As she left, Dipper suddenly grew worried.
"I think I'm gonna head off and explore the fair as well," Dipper said as he held Wendy's hand. "You wanna come?"
"Totally," Wendy replied as the both of them started to head off, but were stopped by Musa. "If Riven gives you shit, just punch him."
"Understood," Musa replied to Wendy as she turned to face Dipper, and ruffled his hair. "Treat her right, ok Dipping Sauce?"
"Musa, it's me. You don't have to worry that musical head of yours about us," Dipper said as he left with Wendy to explore the fair. As they did, Stella saw something and she went to her.
"First Layla, and now Wendy?" Stella teased. "What is it with you and tomboys?"
"Stella, be nice," Bloom said as Musa got flustered at the teasing.
Elsewhere at the fair, Icy, Darcy, and Stormy saw the whole thing with Riven and the meltdown he had. It was amusing, but this blow-up presented itself as a unique opportunity for the witches, who were leaning inside an alleyway so they wouldn't draw suspicion.
"Well, well, well, look what the snowcat dragged in," Icy said as she eyed everything.
"Yeah, I'll say," Darcy said, agreeing with her. "Is it just me, or is his suit tighter?" As she said that, Stormy smacked the backside of Darcy's head. "OW!"
"This is gonna be weird coming from me, but stay focused," Stormy said, not believing what she said.
"Stormy's right, Darcy," Icy said as she sighed. "Thank goodness Pacifica's not here to hear this."
"Yeah, she would agree with me that this is stupid," Stormy said. "Even though she ditched us to go on a date with Mabel."
"It was for the best," Icy said, sighing. Pacifica ditched the others so she could go on her date with Mabel, which she had been planning all weekend while she was sick.
"You two just don't have fine taste like I do," Darcy said. "He's brash, impulsive, moody, and will do whatever he can to win. If he had magic, he would have made for a fine witch."
"And we can use him to weaken the Specialists," Icy said. "A small step in finding the Dragon's Flame." As she finished, she then had her hands glowed and suddenly summoned Knut in front of them.
"Aw man, can't I have the day off?" Knut said, disappointed. "I was busy seeing my mom."
"Don't worry, you big lug," Icy said as she smirked. "One quick job and then we'll ship you right back before the end of the day."
"So... what's the job?" Knut asked as Darcy used her magic to harmlessly transform Knut into Timmy, as she brought his glasses to his face. "Oh my!"
"Listen carefully," Darcy said as she took out something that resembled a headset. "Because I'll explain this only once."
At an outdoor restaurant, both Mabel and Pacifica were sitting down together as they were sharing a large order of what appeared to be fried lizard tails as appetizers with dragon tails as the main course. Pacifica was nomming on them while Mabel was taking her time.
"I don't want to sound like Dipper, but are you sure we can eat these?" Mabel asked as she ate another one, blinded by its delectable flavor.
"Of course!" Pacifica said, taking a bite out of the dragon tail. "Heck, Icy told me that some people eat dragon tails so they can get closer to the Great Dragon spiritually." As she said that, Mabel took a small bite of her dragon tail and was in awe of its flavor.
"I can see why. These things are amazing!" Mabel said as she took another bite. But then she remembered something. "Also, are you sure you should be with Icy and the others? You've seen what they could do."
As she said that, Pacifica's eyes turned from interest in the food to stern as she thought of her sisters. "I know they have some issues, but they aren't really that bad."
"Yeah, but," Mabel tried explaining, but Pacifica cut her off.
"But I have a feeling something might be controlling them and making them do these things outside of their will," Pacifica said, trying to explain her side.
"Control them? You mean like how Dipper was possessed by Bill Cipher that one time?" Mabel asked.
"Not necessarily, it's more like a split personality thing, almost like two people inside one body," Pacifica said but noticed something in the background. "And if your brother and Wendy would get over here, I can explain it as best I can."
"Wait, Dipper and Wenndy?" Mabel asked as Pacifica pointed behind Mabel, seeing both of them in tuxedos and sunglasses, trying to be incognito.
"Aw crap, she saw us," Dipper said, upset he got caught. "I thought these disguises would work for sure."
"I'm surprised it took her this long," Wendy said as Dipper used his magic to turn their clothes back to normal and the both of them waved sheepishly. Pacifica then sighed.
"Alright, come and join us," Pacifica said, not sure why this was happening.
"Oooohhhh, a double date!" Mabel said with glee, finding the silver lining in all this. As she said that, Dipper and Wendy joined Mabel and Pacifica at their table.
"So you really think the rest of the Trix are being manipulated by outside forces?" Dipper asked.
"By 3 ghosts, but I don't know their names," Pacifica admitted. "All I do know is that they're after something called the Dragons Flame."
"Hey, Red Fountain has dragons we used to ride on. Are they trying to steal their flames?" Wendy asked, now nervous about what the witches or the witch's masterminds truly want.
"It's more like the flame the Great Dragon used as its true power," Pacifica answered. "The power of God himself."
"But why would they need any of this?" Mabel asked.
"That... I don't know," Pacifica asked as she nommed on her food, clearly being stressed out. It's no secret that after all this time, Pacifica views these witches as if they were her sisters, and she'd do anything to help them out.
Elsewhere in Magix City, Bloom, Stella, and Musa were seeing the sights of the fair by checking out a few local street performers. Right now, this trio was watching some fire dancers perform in public.
"I never knew there were fire dancers here on Magix," Bloom asked in awe at the sight of this.
"Yeup!" Musa replied. "They might be the ones similar to that in Hawaii, but thanks to magic, they can do much more than what we're seeing."
"Really? How?" Bloom asked. As she did, one of the fire dancers blew into their flames as it elongated and shifted to form what appeared to be a western dragon, complete with a long body, and no wings. Everyone around them was in awe as they started cheering.
"That's how," Musa said, smiling. Normally, she would be a sulking mess during Day of the Rose, but thanks to Bloom, Stella, and the rest of her friends, she was actually having a decent time today.
"I am so glad we came here today, Bloom," Stella said as she chuckled as both Musa and Bloom joined her. As they were chuckling, Bloom started to see something that wasn't there. The Ghost lady filled her sight.
"Bloom, Bloom," she said as Bloom shook her head, trying to get a grip. But it was another hand that gently gripped her hand.
"Bloom!" Timmy said as he showed up to the three girls. But this was not the real Timmy, this was in fact, Knut magically disguised as Timmy.
"Oh hey Timmy," Bloom happily said, shocked and happy to see another friend.
"I thought you were with your folks?" Musa asked, a bit suspicious.
"I was, but then I overheard all the yelling about the race, so I came to check in on you," Knut said, trying his best to not blow his cover. "Anyway, I do have something for you to give to Riven, to try to fix what happened, of course."
"Yeah, fuck that," Musa said, pouting.
"Even though I don't want to, I feel like this has to be done," Bloom said, thinking about it. "I don't want things to be strained between the Winx Club and Brandon's squad."
"Look at you, handling diplomacy," Stella said, impressed with Bloom.
"You are way better at this than me," Musa admitted. "Honestly, I would have folded right here."
"That's the spirit," Knut said, happy that his mistress's plan was working like a charm. "And to do so, I have secured a peace offering gift." Knut then reached into his bag and pulled out a strange set of headphones. "A new, top-of-the-line Exoseries Wind Rider Helmet."
"A helmet?" Bloom asked as she took the gift. As she did, she accidentally pushed a button and the headset became a futuristic bike helmet. "Whoa, this is cool!"
"This actually might do him some good," Stella said as she inspected it. "Good eye."
"Well, this is my specialty," Knut said as he remembered something. "Oh, and do say that this gift is from you. He'll appreciate it more."
"Oh, ok..." Bloom said, curious about why he said it but understanding. "Yeah, thanks, Timmy."
"Don't sweat it," Knut said as he left the group in a hurry. The girls thought he was heading back to his folks, but in truth, he was hurrying to a place where nobody would find suspicious. As he did, he pulled out an older model of a cellphone and called someone. "Phase one complete. Firecracker has secured the lid and en route to Darcy's crush."
"What?" Icy said on the other line.
"Bloom has the modified helmet and he's going to deliver it to Riven," Knut rephrased. "I tried doing codenames because they sound cool."
"Next time, just say them normally," Stormy said over the phone.
"And what was that about a crush?" Darcy questioned Knut.
"Nothing," Knut quickly replied. "Can I change back now? This form is uncomfortable."
"Later," Icy said. "I need you to be our ears on the ground to make sure the exchange goes smoothly."
"And for the love of the dragon, Stay away from Dipper," Darcy added. "He can see through shapeshifting disguises now and will jeopardize the plan."
"I'll try my best," Knut said as he hung up.
As Knut hung up, Icy, Darcy, and Stormy were looking high above the fair on a rooftop, observing the whole area.
"Nothing beats the best seats in the house, eh sisters?" Stormy said, hoping the other two would agree with her.
"You said it, sister," Icy said as she looked down. "We practically got the whole map from a bird's eye view."
"Perfect for showcasing what Riven's helmet can actually do," Darcy said. "Soon, he'll be in the race and he'll listen to whatever I have to say."
"Before the accident that he will inevitably blame Bloom for," Icy snickered as Darcy started growing worried.
"Accident?" Darcy said, a bit horrified. "It won't be that bad of an accident, right?"
"Aaw, does Little Miss Darkness have a crush on Riven?" Stormy said, teasing her while a bit disgusted with her sister's taste in men.
"SHUT UP!" Darcy practically yelled as Stormy laughed at her. Icy saw this and sighed. Between Pacifica and Mabel, and Darcy and Riven, the Trix were slowly falling in love with their enemies. And Icy feared that either she or Stormy might be next.
A few hours later, most of the booths have shut down so the rest of the people can see the race finally in action. The bleachers were being filled, as onlookers were piling up near the edge of the course and the protective barrier. Nobody knew it yet, but this is one race nobody will soon forget.
"Ladies and Gentleman and all other creatures, welcome to the annual Race of the Rose. Ten courageous participants, all hailing from the Red Fountain School for Specialists, will take part in today's event, including Prince Sky Falchion of the planet Erakyron, his trusty squire Brandon Minzini, and the rising rookie from Earth, Wendy Corduroy. So let's give a big round of applause for our champions," the announcer of the race boomed over the loudspeakers as the cheers could not have been louder. But down at the garage, the racers were being wished luck by their friends and loved ones.
"Good luck out there," Stella said as she smooched Sky. "Do well."
"Stella, this is me we're talking about," Sky said with confidence. "I'll finish this race better than I've better been."
"Looking forward to it," Stella said as she giggled. As she did that, both Dipper and Mabel were with Wendy, who was surprisingly the most popular of the racers.
"Look at it this way, the driving during the weirdmageddon should help things out," Dipper said as he was trying to bolster Wendy's spirits.
"Maybe after this, I could sneak back to Earth and see if I can get my driver's license," Wendy joked as she was then hugged by Mabel.
"Be careful, ok?" Mabel said, worried for her.
"Mabel, this is me we're talking about," Wendy said as she flexed one of her arms. "The coolest, strongest, and most badass girl you know."
"If she says she'll be fine, then I'll trust her," Dipper says, portraying his trust for his girlfriend as he kisses her on the cheek. "And after this, we could skip the ball and visit the arcade Tecna and I like so much."
"Sounds like a plan," Wendy says as she puts her helmet on. "See ya at the podium." As she says that, we see Musa visiting Riven. She was still pissed at what he did earlier, but she wanted to see him regardless.
"Look, I may still be pissed at what you did earlier, but don't die," Musa said to Riven.
"Musa, this is me we're talking about," Riven said as he finished adjusting his bike. "I won't die for a very long time." As he said that, Bloom ran up to them both, clearly out of breath.
"Where the hell have you been?" Musa said to her. "We haven't seen you since Stella threw up at the teacup ride."
"I lost all track of time, but I'm here now with the peacekeeping present," Bloom said as she got out the deactivated helmet. "Top of the line brand new helmet, just for you. So are we still cool?"
Riven saw this and was impressed how an Earthling got her hand at such a device, but took it anyway. "Aw sweet! I needed a new helmet anyway."
"And what do we say to Bloom?" Musa said, trying to make her feel appreciated.
"Huh, what? Oh yeah, thanks," Riven quickly said as he put it on.
"At least it's something," Musa said to Bloom, trying to make sure that it was not in vain. Bloom smiled at Musa, knowing that she has her back. at that moment, the loudspeakers went off.
"The Race will begin in 15 minutes. All non-racing personnel must leave the garage immediately," The announcer said over the speakers. Right then, the people who weren't part of the race started heading out.
"Oh crap, I haven't wished Brandon good luck," Bloom said as she gasped, but was stopped by Musa.
"He'll be fine," Musa said. "At worse, he'll be in a cast and you can be there to nurse him back to health, like A Farewell to Arms."
"But I've never read that book," Bloom argued.
"Trust me, it's more romantic than you think," Musa said, making Bloom doubt what she says. A few minutes later, Bloom and Musa regrouped with Stella, Mabel, and Dipper at the bleachers and sat with them.
"I'm still pretty nervous about all of this," Bloom said. "I know there's some high-tech stuff going on, but I still can't help but worry for Branndon."
"Trust them, Bloom," Stella said, trying to comfort her. "Our boys here aren't helpless. Between the shields, the suits, and the helmets, they're all gonna be fine."
"Plus they work out every day at a military school," Dipper added on. "Between that, their armory, and high-end safety, the worse they'll feel is a sudden whiplash."
"So even if there's an accident, I'm sure they can walk it off," Mabel added.
"Alright then..." Bloom said, her nerves calming down. "Let's hope that helmet Timmy gave me to give to Riven helps."
"Wait, Timmy?" Dipper asked Bloom.
"Yeah, Timmy gave Bloom a helmet to give to Riven as a form of diplomacy," Stella vouched for the story.
"But Timmy's supposed to be on Zenith with his parents," Dipper said as he pulled up a social media post of Timmy with his folks.
"WHAT?!" Bloom said as she saw the timestamps of the photos being taken. "What could this mean?"
"It means the Timmy you saw was an imposter!" Dipper and Mabel said at the exact same time.
"But why impersonate Timmy?" Stella thought.
"I don't know why, but I can think of a who," Musa said. "This has the Trix written all over this."
"Then we need to stop them," Bloom said, but before she could get up, loud music erupted through the stands as the 10 Racers started piling to the starting line.
"AND HERE WE HAVE THEM, FOLKS, THE RACERS OF THIS YEAR'S RACE OF THE ROSE!" The announcer proudly spoke as they got the crowd cheering them.
"Ah crap, the race is starting," Stella said, realizing what was going on. As she did she saw 3 figures on top of a roof. "Uh, girls... look who I just found."
The other 4 looked up and saw the Trix on a rooftop and were shocked.
"Of course it's them," Musa said."This is starting to get old." At that moment, the countdown began.
"3, 2, 1, GO!" The announcer proudly shouted as all 10 of the racers sped off, trying to secure the best positions they could. At the sound of them going, all 5 fairies transform and take to the skies to try to go after the Trix.
"Well, well, well, look who we have here," Icy said as she flipped her hair back. "Now can you move, you're blocking my view."
"I know you were the ones who gave me the helmet," Bloom said. "Now what did you do with it?"
"Who, us? We did no such thing," Darcy said, still trying to play innocent. Back down at the race below, Sky and Wendy were neck and neck, as Brandon was planning to overtake the both of them to secure first place.
"Looks like I'm taking first," Brandon declared to both Sky and Wendy.
"Yeah right," Sky said back. "No way I'm losing to anyone today. Not with Stella's kiss on the line."
"You can get one whenever you want," Wendy debated. "Today, I'm gonna win."
"Not today!" Riven said out of nowhere, speeding ahead from swerving through the other racers as he was speeding up to Brandon, who was in first, easily passing Sky and Wendy.
"Oh crap!" Sky shouted as he heard some blasts nearby and the audience getting scared. "Wendy, we got an issue!"
Wendy looked above and saw 5 certain fairies battling 3 certain witches and groaned. "God damnit, the Trix are here, But where's Pacifica?"
"Doesn't matter," Sky said as he stopped his bike. "The people come first!" Wendy groaned as she stopped her bike and got off.
"They owe me so much for this," Wendy complained as nearly every single Windrider stopped to assist, except for one, but it was being driven by a strange girl. "Wait, who was that?"
"We'll focus on that later," Sky said as he stood proud. "Defend the citizens from the witches, and give the fairies some room."
"Back off, Riven," the blonde specialist yelled at the other one. "I'm going to win the race so you don't touch Bloom." He tried slicing the other specialist with his blue lightsaber-esc weapon.
"In your dreams, you filthy squire," the other specialist, Riven, said to him as he was slashing back with a pink katana-like lightsaber weapon. "I'm gonna win this race and win Bloom's heart. And there's not a damn thing you can do about that."
They both sliced and diced at each other as Queen Bee took third as she sees them. She sighed as she sat up on her bike and jumped and landed on their bikes with a foot on each one.
"What the fuck?" Riven said, surprised at the new costumed girl.
"Who the heck are-" Brandon said as he got interrupted as the costumed girl, dressed like a bee, grabbed them by the back of their necks and jumped up again and landed on the roof of a small building, taking the both of them with her, but leaving the bikes behind as they skid out of control and landed on the edge of the forcefield surrounding the track.
"Ow..." exclaimed Brandon as he held his head.
"What gives, girly?" Riven yelled at the bee-clad superheroine.
"What gives, radish head, is that I saved your life," the superhero said as she pointed to the wreckage of the hoverbikes. "If I was a second later, you would have been crushed by your own damn bikes."
"Wait, was that us?" Brandon said as he checked the wreckage.
"No, that was you, jackass," Riven said as he pushed Brandon back. "You couldn't bear to see your precious Bloomington be with another man."
"Bloom likes me, jackass, and you know it. And I had to defend her from you," Brandon yelled back.
"Okay, I think I understand what's happening," the heroine said, piecing together what's happening. "Girl issues. And news flash: girls don't like it when men literally fight to the death."
"Bloom is a fairy at Alfea and needs to be protected from this prick. As a specialist, it's my duty to defend the fairies and the magical folk," Brandon yelled at her, and she yelled back.
"There's a fine line between being a knight as you say, and being a simp," the heroine said, poking his chest. "And right now, you two need to tuck it in your pants and pray to whatever god you worship that no one got hurt."
"And what gave you the right to say who I can protect?" Brandon was slightly calmed as she had a point about how he and Riven acted, but still mad that this girl, who was about a year or two younger, was lecturing him.
"The right as a superhero," Queen Bee smirked. "The name's Queen Bee, the bee miraculous hero of subjection, and a member of the Protectors."
"Wait, a miraculous?!" Brandon yelped. "So that means you're from Earth?"
"So you do know your stuff," she said, slightly impressed. "If you two shake hands and become rangers or whatever it is you matching dorks do, I'll get you off the roof."
"You realize we know fairies, right?" Riven smirked at him and chuckled.
"Yeah, but would you want it done right?" Queen Bee said as she pretended to check her nails. "Last time I checked, fairies are apple-sized."
"You are definitely from Earth," Brandon joked as she grabbed them both. "Is there anything you want to save us?"
"I want this lightsaber thingie and I wanna send a text to a buddy of mine to pick us up," Queen Bee said. "He has dimensional scissors."
"Wait,wha-AAAAHHHH!" Riven said as Queen Bee jumped off the roof with them in her arms and landed on the ground near the track.
"Remember what I told you both," Queen Bee said as she leapt away. Riven scoffed as Brandon pushed him.
"What the fuck was all that!" Brandon yelled at him. "You just HAD to mess everything up!" As he said that, the Trix were blasted near that spot and the fairies floated down.
"What did you do to Riven, Icy?" Bloom asked as her flames ignited over her hands. "Or do you want another lesson?"
"You were the one that attacked without warning, crazy fairies," Stormy said as she turned to Mabel. "Especially you, you unsanctioned child!"
"UUUGGGHH ENOUGH!" Riven roared out as she went to Darcy. "Hey, Darcy, let's get the Omega out of here."
"Me?" Darcy said. "Why me?"
"Because I don't want to be near any of these assholes or any of their lectures," Riven said as he turned to the Winx Club and his so-called 'squadmates'. "Not from Bloom, not from Brandon, not from Musa, and ESPECIALLY not from that bee girl!"
"Bee Girl?" Bloom asked, clearly confused as Dipper could have a clear idea of who he might be talking about.
"But... they want to use you for their goal..." Stella said, trying to defend her actions. "You know how vile these three can be!"
"Yeah, whatever," Riven scoffed as Icy teleported them away as Darcy flipped off the Winx and the specialists. And like that, the four of them were gone.
"We lost today," Stella said as she tried confronting Bloom. "I think we should call it here and get some rest."
"Yeah, we'll cover you guys," Brandon said, not blaming the Winx Club at all.
"But what about the ball?" Stella asked as Musa stretched herself.
"Yeah, that might as well not happen tonight," Musa said, seeing the mayhem caused by the witches and the fairies. "As long as we don't get into trouble, we should be fine."
Later that evening at Cloud Tower, both Darcy and Riven, now changed to his street clothes, were on the couch and watching a movie together.
"See? This is much nicer than going to some boring old ball," Darcy said as she was cuddling up to him.
"I'll admit, this is exactly what I needed after everything went to shit today," Riven agreed with Darcy. As they were watching the movie together, Icy, Stormy, and Pacifica were all eyeing them and were all visibly annoyed. Knut, back to his original form, was more focused on the movie than anything.
"I can't believe Darcy would start dating Riven of all people," Stormy said, not believing what she was seeing. "It's even weirder than Pacifica dating Mabel."
"Hey, Mabel's great!" Pacifica defended Mabel. "She's one of the few things that keep me going."
"Sisters, please, quiet down," Icy said as she held her head. "Today's been a long day."
"Yeah, we have classes tomorrow too," Stormy said as she yawned and walked to her bedroom. "Night."
At the exact same time at Alfea, The 5 fairies got back and were chilling in the living room while Flora, Tecna, and Layla, who had returned a few minutes before, were recapping the events of today.
"And I thought me and my cousin Terra had issues, but this... this is just awful," Flora said, wondering about all of this.
"Just be glad you weren't there today, Flora," Musa said. "Day of the Rose sucks!"
"Yeah, and given that this was our first impression, I'm gonna agree with you," Bloom said, sighing. "What do you two think?" Bloom asked the twins.
"Oh sorry, I was just focused on what Riven said before about a bee girl," Dipper said, trying to figure something out.
"Oh yeah," Mabel said. "You don't think it was Chloe, right?"
"I have no idea," Dipper said, thinking about it.
"Chloe?" Tecna asked.
"A friend from Earth, who's very bee-like," Dipper said.
"I'm more focused on why the Trix would need Riven," Layla asked out loud.
"Whatever it is, We can handle whatever the Trix are planning," Bloom said as she looked out the window. "You can count on it."
