"This is what I get for experimenting with volatile chemicals…"

Lisa's face was completely black, resulting from an explosion from a failed experiment. Many people take her as a genius, and she indeed was, but nobody considered all the times she had to fail in order to achieve success. There was a time where the scientist thought she didn't need anyone to be happy. But after all that happened during her trip to college, she realised she needed her family as much as she needed her formulas and numbers.

Her hair was fuzzy, and after taking off her lab robe, her growing body was more appreciable: when she was a little girl, her looks weren't something that worried her at all. But now she was a lot taller, her brown hair had to be trimmed often, and her glasses required a higher graduation.

"Are you ok, Lisa?" her roommate arrived as fast as she heard the explosion. She stopped being a cute baby a long ago, now she is a growing girl too.

"It's nothing, Lily, just a little inconvenient. A few additional adjustments and It'll be done."

Lily smiled warmly. Lisa couldn't help but feel a motherly instinct to protect her; after all, she was the only little sister she had. Her blonde hair in a ponytail showed her round cute face, and her slim body made her look like a little girl even though she's grown up a lot through the years.

"Do you need help?" Lily asked.

"Negative, Lily, your presence is more than enough." the genius responded. "A few changes and the formula will be ready"

Lisa patted Lily in the head, who took them with closed eyes and a wide smile. Pretty much to everyone's happiness, Lily's attitude was a lot like Leni's: she was nice, sweet and smiled pretty easily. But unlike her elder sister, she was not as distracted, and if she was given the opportunity, she wouldn't hesitate to show tooth and claw. Luckily, no one has done something to become her prey.

Lisa, on the other hand, took care of her appearance and, in an effort to be a better person, became more social. Over the years, she realised that feelings couldn't be suppressed, and accepting them was the start to improve as a person. There was one time when Lily accidentally took one of her favourite beakers, and instead of getting angry or anything of that nature, she understood it was just an accident.

Cleaning the mess she made, she erased something on her board and replaced it with complicated equations that involved numbers and letters and symbols. After putting her theory into practice, a strong scent and a very appealing smell came from the potion she's been working on for five hours now. As a petition from her friends, she was fabricating a perfume that it's supposed to smell so good no boy can resist. The result was so good Lisa could see a pink smoke coming from the beaker, which meant it was worth smelling it at least once in life. Unfortunately, it was a very tiny amount that wasn't worth producing it massively.

"However, it'll be a good perfume for special occasions." she said to herself. Lisa wasn't much of a perfume person, so she might just give it to her friend Darcy.

Luckily for her, her teeth didn't prevent her from talking normally anymore, which explained why her speech was understandable now. And much to everyone's joy, her feminine side started to come out; shopping, clothes, boys, TV series, all the stuff girls her age like crossed her mind frequently. She had her own taste in boys; if she wanted she could use this perfume to seduce any boy she wanted, but…

"Not any boy…" she whispered. "I can't think of any other guy than him."

The memory of him and everything that happened in the past killed her good mood. She went back to her work; maybe complicated equations and hard to solve problems would keep her from thinking of that person…but it didn't.

"Better?

Lynn drank her shake with joy, savouring the sweet chocolate and drinking the cream that remained at the bottom of the glass.

"It was just what I needed." She said, letting out a satisfied sigh and licking the cream off her upper lip. "Thanks, Luce."

"It's nothing. Just don't try to take my place."

"Of course not!" Lynn said. "Good ol' Lynn is back in business!" She flexed her muscles and smiled victoriously. She left her glass on the sink and ran to the living room in search of her ball. But…

"Ahhh!"

Lori continued eating her food before getting up and walking to the living room without a single worry. Sure knowing your sister is hurt should be something to be worried about, but knowing the way she is, her instinct told her that it wasn't a big deal.

"Heh, the same happened to me with Luan earlier today." she commented.

Lucy walked after her, and they both saw Leni sitting on the floor with one hand on her head. Lynn was next to her, but recovered quickly.

"Careful, Leni, I almost hurt you!"

Hehe, sorry, I promise I'll be careful next time." The blonde responded.

Lucy sighed, and helped her sister to get up. Lynn didn't care much about it and in a matter of seconds she grabbed a ball and went outside. As soon as she got out of the house, Lola followed her with a saddened face; she passed everyone, without even looking them in the eye. Everyone looked at the door pondering what happened until a happy voice called them from up the stairs.

"Hello everyone!" Lily greeted her sisters and waved her hand before walking down the stairs.

"Hello Lily." Her sisters responded. It wasn't a surprise that Lily went directly with Leni and asked for her advice.

"Leni, do you think this looks good?" She asked, showing her purple outfit for her sister to evaluate. Leni took a closer look, taking her index finger to her chin and narrowed her eyes, putting her best thinking face. After a moment she closed her eyes with a serious face.

"So… what do you think?" Lily asked nervously, but Leni didn't say a thing. "Leni?"

"Lily…" She made a dramatic pause. "I think that colour was made for you."

Lily sighed in relief. When it comes to fashion and outfits and clothes in general, her sister can become Gordon Ramsey sometimes; well maybe not with the insults, but if your outfit doesn't match she'll tell you to change it.

"So, you still want me to…" Leni asked, but was cut by Lily's voice.

"Take me to buy more of these clothes?" The little sister completed the question, a cheeky smile on her face.

"Exactly." She commented. "Later, girls, we're going shopping!"

At the speed of sound both of them hopped in Vanzilla and drove off. Lori chuckled and Lucy sighed; they both were very alike, the only difference being that Lily wasn't as naive as Leni. With everything settled, they all walked upstairs and went to their respective rooms. With them walked Luan, with her reliable dummy Mr. Coconuts in one hand and a cake in the other. Lori remembered what happened this morning; she stuck to the railing and made way for her.

"Relax, Lori," Luan rolled her eyes. "I'm being careful this time."

"You better be." Lori stared at her menacingly. Once upstairs, Luan walked to her room, but instead of getting inside, she peeked her head, glancing at her sister laying on her bed. She let out a sight, and stopped her sisters.

"Girls," they all turned to her. "Could you do something for Luna? She's really sad; I think they… you know…" She sighed again. "Just try to cheer her up, please, I gotta go now." With that, she walked downstairs and went outside.

They all got the message instantly. Since 'the incident' nothing went back to normal at all. Lucy had to make sure no one usurped her role. Or at least that's what she said, but the reality was that she gave herself the task to cheer everyone up if they ever feel sad. It didn't happen often, but as that day got close, this was happening almost daily.

"Let's see if we can do something, Luce." Lori said.

"Sigh" Lucy responded. They both entered the room, and met with the sight of her sister laying facing the wall, on her head, the headphones blasted music.

"Luna…" Lori said, putting a hand on her shoulder. Luna reacted by instinct, turning her head; after seeing her sisters she sat on the edge of the bed. "I know we can't cheer you up but…you know we're her for you, right?"

Luna looked her in the eye, a saddened smile on her lips. "I do, and I thank you for it." Her smile faded, and she looked down. "But I can't forget…I simply can't".

"Of course you can't," Lucy said. "This affected you the most."

"Come on, Luna, we can go shopping and then we can go to the movies, or we can do whatever you want." Lori tried to lift the mood.

But Luna didn't feel like doing anything today. She did thank her sisters for worrying about her, but she really didn't want to do anything besides staying in her room.

"I appreciate it, dudettes, but I really don't feel like it." She shook her head. "Maybe later."

Both Lori and Lucy sighed; cheering up people wasn't their thing and they knew it, but it was worth a try.

"If you need something feel free to tell us." Lucy said.

"I will." Luna responded. "But for now, I think I'm gonna rest a bit."

Lori and Lucy nodded. It was clear she needed her space for now. "Sleep well." Lucy said, and with that they walked out of the room.

They closed the door behind them and looked down with sadness. This was affecting everyone, and maybe they weren't as bad as Luna, but they were also hurt by the man that left many years ago.
