Chapter 17:

Post from Postwick

"And with that, Allister's Frillish gives off a powerful Max Geyser! Yes! Kabu's Centiskorch is down! What a tight victory!"

Around the TV, me and Hop cheered, hugging each other in the process.

"For a kid so shy he sure is strong!" I said.

"Hello Gloria!" Mum said. "Watching a match?"

We saw Allister shake Kabu's hand. "Yep!" Hop replied. "That's our friend Allister. He uses Ghost Type Pokémon!"

"You sure have made a few friends," Mum said. "Anyway, Gloria. I know you are taking a small break, which you deserve, but could you do a chore? I have a package to be delivered to Professor Magnolia. Would you be fine to run it over?"

"I'd be happy to!" I said. "Wanna come Hop?"

"Sure!" Hop said. "Let's get on it!"

Location: Wedgehurst

We reached the small town.

"It feels great this air," I said. I loved Motostoke, but I wasn't going to act like the air was… clean.

"Yep," Hop replied, as he saw two Trainers. One of them had a yellow Pokémon with a long tail. It was floating. Its Trainer was wearing a purple uniform and a top hat. The other Pokémon was small and red with two antennae's on its tail. Its Trainer was a woman with pink hair that had a hair clip that looked like a Dustox. "An Abra and a Venipede?" Hop asked. "That's weird; you don't find them in Galar."

"You're right," I said as we saw the two Trainers head into Wedgehurst Station. "Maybe their taking on the Gyms? Let's go introduce ourselves!"

Location: Wedgehurst Station

The two of us walked in to see the Trainers at the ticket booth.

"What?!" said the girl. "What do you mean?"

"Sorry, the taxi has just left," said the woman in the ticket booth. "You'll have to come back in an hour."

"This is stupid!" said the Trainer in the hat. "Urgh, fine. We'll use Amnesia on this for now."

"Hey!" I said.

Both Trainers looked round. "Oh," said the girl. "Trainers." She then eyed me. "Wait… you're the girl who got endorsed by Leon right?"

"We both were," Hop said.

"Everyone knows you," the man said. "Gloria and Hop. And surely you must know us?"

"Err…" I said. "How about… nope. Don't know."

"How come?" said the girl. "I'm Klara, the most popular singer in the world!"

I looked at Hop. We're not music industry experts, but we had never heard of her.

"And I'm Avery," said the man in the top hat. He clapped and teleported to the other side of the room. "A Psychic in training."

"Impressive," I said. "And where do you come from?"

"Well…" Klara said. "We're trying to apply for Mustard's Dojo."

"Mustard?!" Hop said. "You mean… no way! Gloria, you know who Mustard is?"

"The previous Champion of Galar!" I replied. "Leon's successor!"

"Not just that," Hop replied excitedly. "Mustard was Lee's mentor!"

"And we can't go to meet him," Klara told me, grumpily. "We just missed the Corviknight Taxi to the Isle of Armor."

"Sorry to hear that," I said, just as something appeared from behind me. It was a Slowpoke, but it had a yellow pattern on its head. I tried scanning it.

Error.

Pokémon unidentified.

To be fair, Slowpoke aren't found in Galar.

"That's a Slowpoke found on the Isle of Armor," Klara told me. "It's a Pure Psychic Type, unlike the Slowpoke that were originally from Kanto."

"Well?" I said. "I'm gonna catch it! Watch me Hop!" I sent out Raboot. "Use Flame Charge!" Raboot set itself on fire and charged into Slowpoke. Slowpoke then fired an Acid attack at Raboot. "Go Great Ball!" I threw a Great Ball at Slowpoke… and caught it!

"Look at you go!" Hop said.

"Hop," I said. "We were heading to Professor Magnolia's…"

"You were the one who got distracted!" Hop said.

I waved goodbye to Klara and Avery, and the two of us headed off.

Location: Professor Magnolia's Laboratory

"Thank you so much you two," said the Professor. She opened up the package; it was a pie. I licked my lips.

"Professor…" I said. "What do you know about the Isle of Armor?"

"Ah," she said. "I know that there are many Pokémon that are found on there that are not found on the mainland."

"We know!" said Hop. "In fact, Gloria caught a Slowpoke from there recently!"

I sent out Slowpoke. "Fascinating," said the Professor. "In that case, may I please have your Pokédex's?"

We gave Professor Magnolia our phones. She went into a section and entered a password. "What are you?" I asked.

"See for yourself!" Professor Magnolia said.

Slowpoke (Galarian Form) (ヤドン)

#001 (Isle of Armor)

Psychic Type

Dopey Pokémon

3'11" (1.2 m)

79.4 lbs (36 kg)

Because Galarian Slowpoke eat the seeds of a plant that grows only in Galar, their tails have developed a spicy flavour.

"I have updated your Pokédex to allow Pokémon from the Isle of Armor to be scannable!"

"Thank you!" I said. "I will put this to good use, I promise!"

Location: Postwick

"Really?" Hop asked. "You're headed to the Isle of Armor?"

"It seems fun!" I said. "If I could be trained by the famous Mustard, that will help me get a long way! Plus, I want to see all the different Pokémon found there."

"I will warn you," Hop said. "Mustard can be a bit… much. But if he had Trainers like Lee come out of his training, then it could benefit you."

"Are you going?" Mum asked Hop.

"I'll stick to the mainland," Hop replied. "But I wish you luck Gloria!"
