Davina's POV
I was currently in the church, looking over Elijah. I couldn't help but fascinated how the dagger worked. How was something like that able to stop one of The Old Ones. It was covered in blood when I pulled it out. I wondered if I would be able to use that blood for anything, but I didn't have any ideas for it at the moment. One of the downsides to being here was that I didn't get the chance to learn new spells. I wished that I had a way to learn more. Studying magic always fascinated me. I saw that Marcel was there but I stabbed Elijah once more with the dagger.
Odina's POV
I was currently at home. I was looking over one of our many paintings Art was always one of my passions. I had invited Camille to come with me. It was more of a compulsion.
"What some may call evil, I believe to be an appropriate response to a harsh and unfair world." I stated as I looked over one particular painting.
"You know I've never met anyone who appreciates art the way you do." She remarked. "No offense, but I don't understand why you invited me here."
"Because I enjoy your company." I explained. "And I sense that you're able to understand someone as complex as I am. You see I returned to New Orleans to investigate a threat and that was when my life changed. What I found was a young woman, pregnant and in need of protection. My brother tried to manipulate me into helping her. He thought that it might redeem me. However, I've since learned of another young woman, a girl even, I can't help but feel a sort of attraction to her even though I've never met or even seen her. She's said to have vast potential and she is being held in captivity by my son. I want to help both of them. I want to protect one and free the other. So tell me, Cami, do I sound evil?"
"I don't believe in evil as a diagnosis and I have trouble picturing you as evil." She declared. "But I do think you have unstable personal relationships, stress-related paranoia, chronic anger issues and fear of abandonment. I think you could benefit from talking to someone."
All of those were probably true. I wasn't entirely sure that simply talking to someone would fix them though. I was pretty sure that a good deal of my issues were related to my parents.
"I think I'd rather talk to you." I proposed. "So I think that I will offer you a job as my stenographer."
"What do you want to write?" She questioned.
"My memoirs." I answered. "I want someone to know my story beyond those who lived it. Not to mention, it will give us time to discuss other things such as how you feel about Marcel."
"Excuse my private life is none of your business." She remarked as she rose her voice.
"Your private life is essential to my plan." I argued. "You see Marcel likes you and that means you will trust you. I want to use that my advantage. The French Quarter is on the verge of war. Marcel and I are on opposite sides. But Marcel has a very powerful witch and an army of vampires."
"What?" She asked in disbelief. I ran over to her and pinned her against the wall.
"Don't be afraid." I compelled. She then took some deep breaths.
"I'm not scared anymore. How did you do that?" She asked me.
"It's called compulsion. It's something that all vampires can do, but right now I'd rather talk more about Marcel."
Davina's POV
I looked out the window while Marcel looked over Elijah.
"The sucker is resilient." He commented. "He's like a cockroach in a suit. It doesn't matter. It's time to give Elijah back to The Mikaelsons anyway."
"You asked me to figure out how to kill the Originals." I pointed out as I walked over. "I'm not done yet. I know that this silver dagger hurts them, but that's it. Wooden stakes aren't effective like they are with regular vampires."
"Davina, we've been through this." He declared as he stood up. "Odina saved my life and I owe him one. Not to mention, if she keeps looking, she might find out that we were the ones responsible for her condition."
"Tonight's the annual Dauphine Street Music Festival." I told him. It was something that I went to every year and I really didn't want to miss this year. "I wanna go. Please."
I knew that he was very protective of me, but I hadn't been able to do anything fun in such a long time. I hated feeling like a prisoner sometimes.
"The whole point of you being here is that you're never spotted out there." He pointed out. "You know that Sophie Devereux works right in the middle of Dauphine St. and you know what the witches will do to you if they find you."
"But you control the witches. You can make her go away. Dad, it's one night." I responded. I had never called him that before, but it felt right to do so and I was hoping that it appeal to his emotions a little and convince him to let me to this. He was also the closest thing that I ever had to a father.
"I said no." He declared as he tried to walk away.
"I do everything that you ask me to." I pointed out. "But sometimes I think you forget what I'm capable of. You know that I can protect myself as well. Did you know that I make someone's blood boil? All I have to do is focus."
I stared at him. I really didn't want to hurt him, but I also really wanted to go to this. I was hoping that it would be a nice demonstration of what I could do to any of the witches if they saw me.
"Fuck D…fine we'll compromise. You're not going out alone. It's too dangerous, but I can introduce you to a friend of mine who's going to be there. She's a nice lady and I think that you'll like her."
I didn't know if we would, but I smiled anyway at the fact that I had convinced him to let me go.
Odina's POV
I went to Rousseau's because I had memorized Camille's work schedule. It was kind of nice to have someone to talk to my plans about that wasn't part of my family. There was also Tina, but I still couldn't take her out in the sun.
"Hi, Cami." I greeted her as I walked over.
"Why is it whenever you come up to me, I suddenly remember that you told me that you're a vampire who was turned into a teenage girl and you're mind-controlling me?" She asked "And when you leave, I go back to thinking that you're some girl that doesn't want to go to school and has a lot of money."
"That's how compulsion works." I explained.
"What's happening though? Is it hypnosis? Are my neurons being shut down somehow?" She inquired. I had never met someone so fascinated by it. I didn't actually know how it worked.
"You always have so many questions." I declared with a smile. "How about we talk about Marcel. You said that had something to tell me."
"He's bringing someone to the music festival tonight." She explained. I couldn't help but wonder if this was the fabled Davina. "He said that it was a girl he's taking care of. She's been going through a hard time and rebelling against authority with anger issues. I suppose he figured with my degree, I could help her, but I said no."
"I really think that you should consider changing your mind." I told her.
"Are you going to force me to do this?" She inquired. "Why do you even bother being polite?"
"Because I like you." I told her. "I do wish that I could get you to agree without having to compel you. I think that we could be friends if the circumstances were different. However, in addition to being Marcel's secret weapon, this girl: Davina, is holding my brother captive. You believe this girl needs your help. Call Marcel and tell him you'd be glad to help her."
One of my biggest hopes from the night was the opportunity to meet Davina face-to-face. I wanted to know if she was how Rebekah had described her. One of the biggest things that someone like myself had always been seeking was a worthy opponent. Marcel had a lot of talk, but when it all came down to it, I knew that he was not capable of truly challenging me. If he weren't my son, I would have already killed him, but this girl seemed like she could actually be a threat. Not to mention, the idea of it was thrilling, perhaps even slightly arousing, Maybe it was unhealthy to have such feelings for someone that I had never met before or even seen him, but as many people could probably tell you, I wasn't exactly the most mentally healthy person.
Part of me thought that I should dress for the occasion, but I wasn't entirely sure what one wore to a city music festival. I would need advice from someone, someone who lived in town, but unfortunately that didn't give me a lot of options. It was something that I could ask the woman in front of me, but she was also not from New Orleans. The lack of homegrown acquaintances was a little bit disappointing.
"So tell me what would someone who was hoping to impress someone on their first meeting wear to such an occasion." I instructed.
"Do you have a crush on this girl?" She asked in surprise.
"Crush may not be the correct term." I declared. Though another thing that I couldn't help but wonder was what the girl I had had a crush on was doing right now. In fact, it had been a long time. Maybe I should let her in on what happened to me. "Actually, I don't think I need your help with that."
I then went home where I found Rebekah on the computer.
"Please tell me that you're not still at it with trying to find Davina using the internet." I remarked. "Have you been looking for anonymous attics?"
"Someone has to find Elijah even I have to search every bloody attic in New Orleans." She declared. "I remember enough details. There were shutters on the windows behind Elijah's coffin."
"Well here's my theory. Marcel's delay in returning Elijah makes me think that Davina might be keeping him captive herself." I declared. "If her loyalty to Marcel is strained, maybe she'll be willing to discuss a new alliance."
"Why is it that your power grabs are always more important than rescuing our brother?" She questioned.
"I like to think of it as killing two birds with one stone." I pointed out. "I can both get control of Marcel's secret weapon and get our brother back. Now I need to use the computer to talk to someone."
I grabbed the laptop from her and went to my room. I wasn't entirely sure if she would pick it up. To my surprise, she did.
"What the fuck? Who are you?" She asked.
"I am who you think I am, Love." I told her. "To answer your question how, I have been cursed by an anonymous witch, but that isn't why I am calling you. I need some advice from you. What does a girl wear when she is trying to make a good first impression?"
"Are you saying that you have a crush on someone?" She asked as she giggled a little.
"No, there's just a very powerful young witch that I am hoping to attract the attention of." I declared.
"Well one thing that usually helps is cleavage. As for colors, I think strong contrast like black and red But it's not just about the outfit. It's also about the makeup. But do you know if this girl is even interested?" She asked.
"I will make her interested." I boasted.
"I never thought that I would be giving you dating tips." She muttered.
So I began to look through the various stores for something that would fit the criteria of the look that Caroline had suggested to me. I wondered if she would ever decide to come and visit me, but I was pretty sure that she was busy with her studies. I did want to draw Davina to me, even though she wouldn't know who I was just from looking at me. I wasn't even sure if she knew what I looked like. She may be able to sense the power that I have or she may not. I supposed that I would just have to find out when we finally met. There was probably still some need to be cautious considering that she had handled my sister so easily, even though part of that was due to Rebekah underestimating the young witch.
The streets were already starting to be decorated. Despite its name, it was about more than just music. There was also art and of course food. I wouldn't be surprised if Marcel was attending. I would think that he would want to keep a close eye on Davina.
Davina's POV
That night, I went to festival with Marcel. I was kind of upset that I would have to do it with a chaperone, but at least I was here. Last year I got to hang out with my friends, but none of them were around anymore. One of the first places we went was a bar. I had a pretty good feeling that he wouldn't want me to have any drinks. He was taking this whole parent thing seriously for the most part. It probably wouldn't be a good idea for me to get drunk because I wasn't entirely sure what I would do. I noticed a lot of people were staring at me. Only a few of his vampires even knew about me. He wanted to keep the number of people at a minimum so people wouldn't be able to find out where I was.
"So is it everything that you hoped it would be?" He asked.
"Yeah." I replied. It was then that I saw someone. It was Tim. I hadn't seen him since I stopped going to school.
"So we should probably go over the rules." He declared as I chuckled lightly.
"I won't talk to anyone about anything. I won't say anything about witches or vampires or Originals or you." I declared as he smiled. "You said you weren't going to hover."
"It hurts that you think you're too cool for me." He joked.
It just felt so good to be outside for a change. I understood why Marcel wanted to keep me locked up, but I wished that I was able to have this kind of freedom all of the time. I wondered what it would take for something like that to happen.
One of the main reasons that I wanted to come was because of Tim. There was wi-fi in the church, but I made sure not to use any of my accounts. I knew that Tim would be playing his violin with his band. I wasn't sure why they had him playing in a bar considering he was my age, though. I knew that Marcel was still there but he was with his…I didn't know if she was his girlfriend, but he did talk to me about her. It was nice to finally meet her, even though I wasn't particularly interested in her at the moment. It was then that I realized the reason we were there because that was where his girlfriend worked.
"So I'm almost done here." She said. "That we us girls can hang out and you can go do… whatever it is that you do around here."
"You know he was supposed to stop hovering like ten minutes ago." I remarked.
"You see what I mean? Authority issues." Marcel quipped as I rolled my eyes. "I'll go talk to the mayor. He actually knows how to show some respect."
I couldn't help but wonder what it was she thought that he did.
"So what's his name?" She asked as she was suddenly in front of me.
"Who?" I asked with a blush.
"The cute boy with a fiddle." She declared.
"Tim. I knew that he would be here. He always performs that at these kinds of things." I answered.
"How long have you two known each other?" She inquired.
"Since we were 10." I explained. He never knew that I was a witch though. "I don't go to school anymore and I didn't get to say goodbye. So I just wanted to talk to him tonight."
Odina's POV
I made my way down the streets for the festival. Due to her erasing Rebekah's memory, I didn't even know what Davina looked like. The local news wasn't any help to me because there were no mentions of a girl named Davina who was missing. That wasn't surprising because I was pretty sure that Marcel had some control of those things.
Of course the dress that Caroline had suggested was definitely an eye-catching one as I noticed people all around were staring at me. Some of them might have thought that I was a prostitute. Of course, I still had some information. Cami texted about a boy named Tim who played the fiddle. I found him going to his car.
"Hello Tim." I greeted him.
"Who are you?" He asked as I saw him staring at my chest. He may have thought that I was flirting with him.
"It seems you are very close to a girl I'm looking to meet." I explained. "I want you to help me send her a message."
Davina's POV
After he was done performing, I started to look around for Tim, but I didn't see him.
"Well he couldn't have gone far. They just got off-stage a minute ago." Cami replied.
"It doesn't matter. This was a stupid idea anyway." I remarked. He probably didn't want to see me because I had ghosted him.
"No it wasn't." She argued.
"Just forget it." I replied as I walked away.
Odina's POV
I went and I managed to catch a glimpse of her. She didn't look like the powerful witch she was, but I was proof that looks could be deceiving. My daughter was also quite small but she was one of the strongest vampires that I knew. Before I broke my own curse, one thing that I was looking for was a way to turn a regular vampire into an Original, but I knew such a spell could be dangerous if it fell into the wrongs hands. After she walked away, I went over to Camille.
"Tell her this is from one of the musicians. She'll want to leave and you're going to help her slip out the back so Marcel doesn't notice." I compelled as I handed her a piece of paper. "Just make sure not to let her out of your sight."
Davina's POV
We ended up going back to the church. Tim had told me to meet him there. I wasn't sure why he would want to go there considering what had happened there. One of the reasons Marcel wanted to hide me there was for that exact reason.
"I don't think I should do this." I stammered. However, she gave me a little bit of a shove of encouragement and I started to walk towards him. "Hey. Tim, I got your note."
"I got your text." He responded.
"Thanks for meeting me here." I replied. He chuckled a little as I stood in front of him.
"It's so amazing to see you. I can't believe that I'm standing here with you right now." He remarked. I couldn't help but wonder where he thought that I had disappeared to. "I just wow."
I giggled a little in response. It felt good to be with him right now, even if it wouldn't last.
"So where have you been?" He asked. "And why did you want to meet here? It's so creepy with all of the terrible stuff that happened."
"I don't know. I kind of like it." I commented. He might have thought that I was weird. I was trying to think of ways to tell him that I was a witch without scaring him away. "It's quiet. I mean a place can't be bad for all time because bad thing happened here."
"Wait so back up. One day you just stopped coming to school and suddenly you just vanished." He stated.
"There was an emergency and I needed to take care of some things." I lied.
"Are you okay? I mean you look okay…you look great actually." He responded. He was acting kind of weird, but I supposed it had been several months since we had seen each other. I giggled some more. "So are you coming back to school?"
"No." I answered. "But I need you to know that even though I was away, I miss you." I explained. "I miss seeing you at school and seeing you play your violin."
"Well…this place does have good acoustics." He stated. Was he about to put on a private show just for me?
He took out his bow and violin and I sat down on the ground. He was playing slower than he did during the show. It was very beautiful.
Odina's POV
I was a little bit jealous looking at the scene in front of me, but I couldn't let something like hamper my plans. I would need to get some face time with Davina, but for now I could let her enjoy her evening.
"The boy has a gift." I told Cami. "You can't compel someone to play like that."
"Why are you wearing that?" She asked me.
"A close friend suggested it to me, even though I'm beginning to question if listening to her was a good idea." I admitted.
"I know what you are. It's crazy to me, but at least it makes sense. But this…massacre, it was just a pointless, brutal thing. In your life have you ever had of anything like that. A good man, an aspiring priest just goes on a killing spree out of nowhere?" She asked.
"I've been a lot of things in my time." I explained as I took a seat beside her. "The world is a rather awful place. It's best to meet it on its own terms."
"No." She rejected. "The world isn't awful. People are not awful. They wanna be good. Something makes them bad. Something breaks them down, makes them snap. There are always signs, symptoms, before someone has a psychotic break, but the guy who did this had none of them. He didn't drink. He didn't do drugs…"
"You seem to know a lot about this." I commented. She went silent for a second. That was when I realized something about her. "You knew him, didn't you?"
"His name was Sean. He was my brother." She explained. Well that definitely made things awkward. "My twin actually. I can't sleep. I dream about what happened and I hate it. I hate that I couldn't help him."
"We all must stand alone against our demons." I declared.
"What if someday his demons become mine too?" She asked. I wished that I could assure her that, but it was not something that I could control.
"I have some business that I should attend to." I declared. "But before I do…You should go. Enjoy the music. Put this out of your mind."
She got up and walked away. I then walked over to the two of them. There would be some awkwardness to this, but I couldn't let that get in the way.
"Well aren't you two adorable." I interrupted. "But I would like to talk to you, Davina. I figured it was time for us to finally meet. So Tim, why don't you go and sit down and be quiet."
She didn't look very happy to see me. My main goal tonight was to make my offer to her. I also wouldn't mind seeing what she could do. I wanted to see some of that power for myself.
"So let's get down to it. I don't like the fact that you are currently aligned with Marcel." I stated. "You're loyal to him, but he keeps you locked up. Surely you would prefer just a little bit more freedom. But he still keeps you prisoner."
"Marcel doesn't keep me prisoner. He keeps me safe." She argued. "He takes care of me like I'm his daughter."
"You know I could take care of you too. After all you're caught in a war between the werewolves and the vampires and I'm more powerful than he is." I pointed out. "I would also keep you safe and allow your freedom. If Marcel could do that, why hasn't he done so already? And it also begs the question that is Marcel can protect you, what about the ones you care about?"
"If anyone tries to hurt someone that I care about, I'll kill them." She boasted.
"If you can take care of yourself, why do you need him?" I challenged. "Maybe Marcel tricks you into doing his bidding while you just sit and rot in an attic alone, while young Timothy moves on with his life."
At that point, I started to feel very warm all of a sudden. I wasn't sure what was happening, but I wouldn't be surprised if she had done it. Her power was definitely not any witch that I had ever seen before.
"Do you feel that?" She asked. "That's your blood starting to boil."
It was getting a little bit hard to breathe, but I also had my own contingency plan. I rushed over and grabbed Tim by the neck.
"You know it would be such a shame if something were to happen to him so soon after you two reconnected." I declared. "And I really do think that he's a very good violinist."
"Don't you dare hurt him!" She ordered.
"I don't want to, but that depends on what you do." I countered. I grew out my fangs and she kept staring at me. It seemed like we might be in for a standoff.
"Let him go now!" She demanded.
"You should know that I really don't like it when people tell me what to do." I replied. At that point, she moved her hands and I made leg break. I snapped it back into place. "Impressive, but you don't want to fight me. Innocent people have a way of winding up dead."
"Please let me go." Tim begged.
"It's your choice little witch." I told her. "Swear allegiance to me alone and the boy lives. Stand against me and..."
Suddenly all of the candles lit themselves and a strong wind started to blow. She held her hands out and screamed and all of the windows shattered as a strong gust blew and knocked me over to. Okay now my choice of dress didn't seem ideal. Her power was definitely living up to how Rebekah had described her. She was definitely a formidable witch.
A few minutes later, I went to the balcony thinking maybe I should not try to face her at this very moment. I also got a phone call from Rebekah.
"We have a problem. Hayley's missing." She explained.
"What do you mean she's missing?" I questioned. Had she seriously let her out of her sight?
"What do you think I mean?" She challenged. "There's blood and bodies everywhere. Someone has ripped this spot to shreds and there's no smart Alec pregnant girl."
"Keep looking. I'm on my way." I declared as I hung up. I was pretty sure that my heels would not be good for the bayou. I would definitely have to put off the stuff with Davina. I then picked Tim up.
"Please don't hurt me." He begged.
"It wasn't my intent to, but I don't have any more time to play nice." I remarked before I threw him off the balcony.
Davina's POV
I found Tim injured on the ground in one of the pews.
"Tim? Oh no." I declared as I started to cry. "No, no. Please. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you."
"That's one of the tragic consequences of war." Odina replied. "Innocent bystanders. What terrible guilt you'll have to live with. His blood on your hands."
"Get away from him!" I ordered. I wasn't sure how threatening I was with my makeup smeared. I had worn it for the first time in a while too.
"Now let's not be too hasty. I can heal him." He pointed out. That was right. Vampires had the ability to heal people with their blood. "All you have to do is ask."
"Please?" I requested. I hoped that she had a heart big enough to heal him without asking anything from me in return.
"Yes, I will do it for you." She said before she fed her blood to him. She then went to compel him. I wasn't going to lie and say that it wasn't for the best. "You will forget everything that happened after the concert, including the fact that you saw Davina."
"Why?" I asked in confusion.
"If he remembers seeing you, the witches could use him against you." She pointed out.
"So what you just want me to abandon Marcel now that you've saved his life?" I questioned as I picked up his broken violin. I wondered if there was someone who could fix it.
"You just owe me a favor." She declared before she disappeared.
At that point, Marcel showed up.
"Davina? What happened? What are you doing here?" He asked me.
"I live here, remember?" I remarked. I was mad. That bitch managed to get the upper hand on me. I could have destroyed her had Tim not been there.
Odina's POV
I went to the doctor's office in the bayou where Hayley had been and I found a dead doctor on the floor near Rebekah.
"Wow. You abandoned your quest for power to help out your family. Womanhood has changed you." She quipped.
"Who took her Rebekah?" I asked calmly.
"I don't know." She answered.
"What do you mean you don't know?" I questioned. "And who killed her attackers?"
"I don't know I had an arrow in my heart." She replied. "If it wasn't Hayley who killed them…"
At that point, I heard some howling.
"You're werewolf. Why don't you sniff her out?" She suggested.
We then went outside and found Hayley outside covered in blood.
"Hayley? What happened? Tell me what happened." I demanded.
"I can't remember." She replied as I looked her over.
"You've completely healed. There's not a scratch on you." I declared. It wasn't supposed to go that fast.
"One of the perks of being a werewolf, remember?" She responded.
"Werewolves don't heal that fast." I pointed out, "I think the baby might have healed you."
"How did you escape? You were outnumbered, unarmed, but those men were ripped to shreds.' Rebekah asked.
"I think it was the wolf." Hayley declared.
"The witches were supposed to protect you. When I get my hands on Sophie Devereaux…" I started.
"It wasn't Sophie. It was Agnes." She interrupted.
"Fine whoever it is, I'll kill them." I remarked.
"Not if Elijah gets there first." Rebekah stated.
"Elijah? Did you find him?" Hayley asked.
"He has a plan and we only asked that we take care of you." Rebekah explained.
"Okay…so can we go home now?" Hayley requested. "I'd really like to sleep…for a few days."
She nearly fell over, but I picked her up and carried her to the car. I thought about going to visit Cami, but decided against it. I did feel that someone had made her brother kill all of those people, and I would find it out, but I didn't want her to be involved.
Davina's POV
I went to my room with the violin. I wondered if I could even learn to repair it myself. Maybe there was a spell for it. Suddenly, I heard the coffin open. I walked over and saw Elijah wasn't inside.
"It's alright Davina." I heard a voice say from behind and I saw him…awake. "I don't mean you any harm. Though I do think it's time we had a talk."
So Davina and Odina met for the first time and results were kind of mixed. I took out a scene between Odina and Cami because this story isn't about them. Please don't forget to review.
