Weathering Heights
It's nighttime in Acmetropolis and a storm is starting to brew. Next to a large fountain, a weather team led by the mean Misty Breeze is preparing to report on the current weather.
Cameraman: "Alright, Misty. We're going on live. Is everything ready?" One reporter gives Misty a piece of the script for the report. Then her newbie reporter brings her a coffee cup.
Paula: "Here's your coffee too, Misty." Misty takes the coffee and Paula gives a suggestion. "You know, I was thinking. You should do a piece on Barometric Pressure." Misty isn't in agreement.
Misty: "That's absurd."
Paula: "Barometric Pressure?"
Misty: "No. That you were thinking. I'm Misty Breeze, dear. I do the weather. You, uh, bring the coffee." At that, Paula gets angry and purple clouds form above them with purple lighting. Rob, the script writer, heads back to the van.
Rob: "Boy, it looks like it's a big one." He says with worry and works on printing the rest of the script. Paula comes in with scorn.
Paula: "You said if I told her my idea, you said you'd back me up!" Paula was expecting Rob to support her idea. He tries to divert.
Rob: Oh come on, Paula. You can't be on air! You're- you're too young, you're inexperienced, and let's just say, the camera loves you when you're behind it." That does not sit well with Paula.
Paula: "What?" She gives a pouting grunt and the weather gets a little more fierce and we hear her thoughts. "No one appreciates me!" The winds knocks Rob back and the script flies everywhere.
Rob: "Where's my script? I need my script, Rob! I can't make up the weather you know." Rob works faster to pick up the script. Misty takes another sip of the coffee and spits it out.
Misty: "This is cold, you twit!" Misty dumps the coffee on Paula in anger. "You are absolutely worthless!" Paula gets angry again and a purple cloud forms over Misty.
Paula: "I know more about the weather than you'll ever know!" Then rain falls from the cloud and ruins her hair as Paula looks on with a malevolent smile.
Rob: "What was that?"
Misty: "My hair!" Misty heads to a nearby building.
Rob: "We're on in thirty! Try to lose the cloud in the meantime!" Paula uses this opportunity to take over.
Paula: "Let me do it!" Rob tries to object.
Rob: "No! Paula you-" Paula cuts him off.
Paula: "What other choice do you have?" Rob thinks about it and agrees.
Cameraman: "We are live in 3, 2, 1!" He gives the go ahead.
Paula: "This is Paula Hayes standing in front of City Hall Plaza where a giant storm is brewing over Acmetropolis. There's lightning, thunder, and dangerously high winds!" Then the wind picks up, knocks over a statue, and a large bolt strikes Paula who falls down with a scream as she's covered in a sphere of purple energy. Misty comes back.
Misty: "What is she doing?" She see's the camera rolling and pushes it away. "Cut! Stop rolling! I am Misty Breeze and I'm running the show." Paula gives a laugh.
Paula: "Well, there's a change in the air, Misty, because I am the weather!" Paula's sudden transformation shows she is another one who was given strange powers from the meteor one year ago. She conjures up some twisters from her hands and blows Misty into the air. "Sorry, Misty, you're program's been cancelled! They said I couldn't be on the air. Well, I am now!" She jumps into the clouds with an evil laugh and we see her in a purple cocoon like bubble and she gives off more electric energy as she laughs in delight. Her appearance has drastically changed. She no longer looks human. Her skin has turned blue, her hair had turned violet, her clothes changed into a sorceress-looking attire with a violet color.
Somewhere else in Acmetropolis, the Loonatics are fixing a satellite dish that is about to be detached by raging winds. Slam picks it up from and pushes it to the other side where Rip uses his telekinesis to hold it in place as it is placed on it's detached end.
Tech: "That's it! Now!" Ace uses his laser eyes to melt the support into the end, gluing the ends and fixing the dish.
Ace: "There we go. That ought keep Duck from complaining."
Tech: "We're done. How was that so hard?" Tech gives a confident shrug to an easy job. Slam and Rip are exhausted from the heavy lifting and both gather at the roof's edge, not noticing the hatch they're standing on. Suddenly, Duck opens the hatch right under them, accidently sending them over the roof.
Duck: "Thanks a lot, Slam and Rip. Just in time to miss my favorite TV personality of all time, Misty Breeze!"
Ace: "Duck!" Ace screams as he and Tech run to the edge.
Duck: "What?"
Ace and Tech look down and see Rev and Lexi lifting Slam and Rip back up.
Lexi: "I break more nails picking up after you guys!" Lexi complains with disgust as they reach the top.
Rev: "You ok, bro?" Rev asks.
Rip: "I'm fine. Duck sure knows how to make an entrance." he looks at Duck with annoyance. Slam is more angry than Rip and gives Duck a scornful talk.
Duck: "Such language..." Duck says with surprise and teleports out just as a scream is heard. The team looks up just as Misty Breeze lands on the dish. Duck looks up and is infatuated. "Misty Breeze!" Duck's eyes shows two hearts.
Misty: "Don't just stand there, you dolts! Get me out of here!" She then loses her grip and slides off the dish as Duck teleports in front of her and catches her.
Duck: "I am your biggest fan! Danger Duck at your service!" Duck helps her get up.
Misty: "Thank you. Just don't get too close."
The Loonatics then fly to where Misty was shooting her latest report when the storm happened.
Ace: "Misty and her crew were broadcasting from City Hall Plaza."
Duck: "I just don't get it. Who would ever want to harm the lovely Misty Breeze?" Duck asks as he looks towards Lexi and Rip.
Lexi: "Anyone who's ever met her?" Lexi says with annoyance.
Rip: "Anyone who can't put up with her rudeness?" Rip says with annoyance.
Duck: "Jealous?" Duck jokes as Lexi and Rip are still annoyed. Then Zadavia appears on the screens along the way the Loonatics are traveling.
Zadavia: "Loonatics. We're receiving reports that the strange weather phenomenon is materializing all over the planet." she tells them as they stop in front of one of the screens.
Ace: "Say, Zadavia? Isn't monitoring the weather more of a job for-"
Duck: "Misty Breeze?" Duck interrupts.
Zadavia: "Not this kind of weather."
Rip: "Let me guess. We're potentially dealing with another person affected by the meteor?"
Zadavia: "That would be the number one guess, Rip. Unfortunately, I don't know. You better move fast, Loonatics. Zadavia out."
With that the Loonatics race towards City Hall Plaza. Upon arriving at the Plaza, they notice a van overturned. They land next to it and Slam lifts it up. As he does, Rob falls out a little winded.
Slam: Unintelligent "Yo, any idea what happened around here?" Slam asks. Rob is to winded to give a simple reply because he can't process what happened.
Rob: "Paula, assistant, the script, Misty went air, crazy weather, ha ha, storm, Misty gone."
Tech: "Looks like he got the wind knocked out of him." Tech jokes and Ace steps up.
Ace: "Hey, uh, we're gonna need some more words there, pal. Got any verbs?" Ace asks.
Lexi: "Here's one: Look!" Lexi points to the top of a building and the Loonatics look up and see Paula on top.
Paula: "No stealing my show, Loonatics! Back off!" She cries and prepares an attack.
Rob: "That's her!" Then creatures made out of clouds appear around the Loonatics.
Paula: "Cloud Creatures, put these heroes in a fog!" The creatures surround the Loonatics.
Ace: "Was this in the forecast?" Ace jokes
Rip: "Not that I know of!" Rip joins in. Duck doesn't seem amused.
Duck: "Ooh, scary clouds. Gonna stop us from getting a tan?" Duck jokes just as one of the creatures grabs Duck with it's massive hand. Duck can feel the squeeze. "Uuh. Or stop us from breathing?"
Tech: "Ok, chief, what next?"
Ace: "Kick some cloud!" Ace gives a swinging kick to the head of one creature and his foot gets grabbed before he touches the ground and the head reforms. "Hey! Watch the foot! It's lucky!" Slam bites the arm, frees Ace and spits it out. Paula sends another cloud creature after Slam, catching him by surprise. Rev runs around another creature.
Rev: "Here's something you don't see on a sunny day. I could be wrong, but it looks like they're alive! How's that possible? Clouds are just for making rain. Not striking terror in the heart of the city!" Rev is cut off when the creature slams it's arm down right in front of Rev, causing him to trip and flip twice on the ground. Rip uses his telekinesis to lift the van and drop it down on one creature. The creature reforms like it was nothing.
Rip: "These guys seem indestructible!"
Duck: "Here's something via Duck Mail!" Duck throws a fire ball through the creature who holds him to no avail.
As the Loonatics move around trying to get a hold of the skirmish, Paula decides to turn things up.
Paula: "Let's puff up the clouds and bring in the fog!" She summons a fog that allows the creatures to disappear in it, leaving the Loonatics unable to see them.
Lexi: "Yoohoo! Puffy boy!" Lexi is cut off by a blow from behind. She back flips back into position. "Ah, there you are!" Meanwhile, Ace is being squeezed by the foot and his ears by another creature. He breaks free with his laser eyes and as he falls, he fires another beam that seems to go through the creature and strikes something else. Out of the fog jumps Tech clutching his butt screaming "yeowhowhowhow!".
Ace: "Whoops! Very sorry there, Tech!" Rev and Rip run next to him.
Rip: "My telekinesis can't dissipate these guys and every object I throw at them does nothing!"
Rev: "My internal radar can't distinguish a creature that's split on fog and it's getting pretty hard to avoid a griiiii-" Rev is cut off as a creature grabs him and Rip and pull them away in it's clutches.
Ace: "Whadda say we help them out, Slam?" Ace suggests. Slam is pinned by one creature.
Slam: "Ok. You the man!" Slam activates his tornado powers and uses it to blow the fog and the creatures away and free Rip and Rev.
Ace: "Slam 1, Cloud None!" Ace declares. Paula lets out a scream of fury.
Paula: Clouds of Thunder, destroy them!" She declares. The wind speeds up and Slam is blown into the air. Lexi is back flipping from another creature. She notices a fire hydrant and uses her sonic blast to bust it open. The water jets out and into the creature, causing it to bloat and scream in pain.
Lexi: "Clouds absorb water! And to think I only got a B in Science!" Lexi proudly declares remembering her studies.
Ace: Well that's great, Lexi. But do you really wanna make 'em bigger?" The creature gets bigger until it dissipates and it rains harder.
Lexi: "Woah!" Rev and Rip join them with excitement and pumping their legs.
Rev/Rip: "Oh! I wanna try that! I wanna try it! I wanna try it! Here goes!" Rev runs into the fountain and uses his feet to peddle a torrent of water into one creature, causing it to dissipate. Rip uses his power to channel a steam of water into another creature, causing it to dissipate as well. "Road Runners 1, Clouds None!" The brothers do a high five and elbow bump. Ace uses his laser eyes to break off a fountain and it's torrent of water lands on another creature and it dissipates.
Ace: "And me without my slicker!" Ace jokingly declares. Mean while, Duck is still caught in his creatures grip.
Duck: "Water egg please! Please, water egg, water egg!" Duck makes his blast like water and stuffs it into the creatures mouth and causes it to bloat and explode in a orangey juice. Duck licks a piece and it tastes good. "Mmm. Orange juice will do the trick too!"
Paula: "Pesky duck!" She fires a bolt right in front of Duck, sending him back and Slam catches him. By now, the Loonatics have gathered in a line looking up at Paula. "You may have won this round, Loonatics, but I'm the star here!" The cameraman runs up next to her with a camera. "Keep that camera pointed at me for I have breaking news! Hear ME Acmetropolis! I am Weathervane! And tonight, there's a 100% chance of destruction!" She launches more powerful bolt at the Loonatics who scramble to dodge and Weathervane laughs in delight. "Here's a newsflash for you, Loonatics and it's a real shocker!" She gathers her energy and launches a more powerful streak of lighting towards the Loonatics too big for them to escape. Thinking fast, Tech activates the antenna on the top of his pack, turning himself into a lightning rod and absorbs the streak with a painful scream, leaving him a husk.
Ace: "Nice lightning rod, Tech! That's definitely gonna earn you some vacation time!" Ace congratulates Tech just has he regenerates.
Tech: "Can I take it right now?" Tech asks. Ace does a joke think.
Ace: "Let me think about it. Yes, no, yes, NO!" Then the Loonatics look back up at Weathervane.
Weathervane: "All the elements are at my command! I don't need to report the story. I AM the story!" She points at the cameraman. "Make sure you get this. It'll make everyone forget about Misty Breeze!" Duck is insulted.
Duck: "Forget about Misty Breeze?! Well I'd sure forget, um, what's her name?" Weathervane then launches her next attack.
Weathervane: "Time for you to be gone with the wind!" She then traps the Loonatics in a swirling whirlwind that grows into a growing tornado, making it hard for them to use their powers. Ace grabs a light pole and rings around it until he's out of the tornado. Slam is launched into a stone pillar. Duck teleports out with a scream and ends up on the inside of a TV screen.
Duck: "Look mommy I'm on TV!" Duck teleports out.
Ace: "You're on, Slam!" Ace orders and Slam summons the full power of his tornado power and fights the tornado. Ace uses his grappler to pull Lexi out.
Rev: "Not liking this!" Then Tech grabs Rev's hand and Rip grabs Rev's other hand and Tech uses his grappler on the stone support of the fountain to pull him, Rev, and Rip out of the tornado and they land next to the fountain. The team groups.
Ace: "I was gonna get you next."
Tech: "I got impatient." Tech smugly replies with a wink at the brothers and they give a thumbs up. Then Slam's grunts grabs the team's attention and they look with worry at Slam fighting the tornado by himself. Slam proves to be more than a match as he pushes the tornado at a wall barrier over a building, breaking it and causing the tornado to dissipate. Slam stops and he is cheered at by a crowd watching from a nearby parking garage and he pumps his arms up to pump up the crowd with pride, much to Weathervane's disgust at Slam stealing the show from her.
Weathervane: "They defeated my clouds, my lighting, my tornado! But can they defeat them all at once?! I release all the elements of the weather upon you, Acmetropolis." Weathervane unleashes her full power. Lightinging strikes a building and another one strikes a monorail train's track breaking it, causing the end of the train to dangle. "Bring me Misty Breeze or be prepared to build an Ark!" The Loonatics quickly head for the train.
Ace: "Move it, Loonatics!" They arrive at the train. "Come on, gang! Let's get that monorail!" Slam activates his tornado powers and lifts the end of the train with his hands, Tech uses his magnetism powers to lift the train off the track, Ace welds the damaged rails back into place, and Lexi and Rip use their powers to clear the track of rubble. Once clear, Slam puts the monorail onto the track and it speeds up. Slam uses his feet as an anchor to slow the monorail down until it stops. "Nice work, Slam!" Slam then cools his burning feet and Ace opens the door to the monorail. "So, who ordered the Acme Heroes?" The people cheer as the Loonatics fly off and an old woman is reminded of something.
Old woman: "Oh, I knew his great-great-great grandfather!"
With the storm over Acmetropolis raging, the Loonatics return to City Hall Plaza. They land in front of the building Weathervane was on top of.
Ace: "Box her in! One of us from each side! Go!" The Loonatics fly up and surround the rooftop from all sides, but only see the cameraman. "What the? Hey you. Where'd she go?"
Cameraman: "I don't know. She just flew up and vanished towards the sea." Rip brings the cameraman down to the ground and Rev checks his radar.
Ace: "Does your radar show anybody else in danger, Rev?"
Rev: "Well, a lotta wet people but nobody in danger."
Ace: "We should evacuate the area."
Rip: "The whole area? Why?"
Ace: "Because I have a little feeling something big is about to happen." Slam floats in front while a hologram of Zadavia appears behind him, causing him to turn around.
Zadavia: "Suspicions confirmed, Ace. There's an unnatural energy force brewing with intensity 35 miles off the Acmetropolis coast. All efforts to contain Weathervane have failed." With that, the hologram disappears and the Loonatics fly off to the energy source.
Lexi: "With all this water, we could sure use a duck." Her comment is more than a joke when Ace notices that Duck is missing.
Ace: 'Yeah. Where is Duck?" Somewhere further away, Weathervane is flying to the energy source with Duck in hot pursuit on a high-powered surf board. "Duck, where are you?"
Duck: "I'm on a personal mission."
Ace: "Personal? Duck, you're not going after Weathervane alone are you?" Duck cuts off the communicator.
Duck: "Anyone who insults Misty Breeze, insults Danger Duck!" Weathervane stops to gather energy and Duck stops right under her. "Excuse me, bubblehead! But as Misty Breeze's number 1 fan, I'm gonna have to ask you to apologize to her right now!" Weathervane in angered.
Weathervane: "Misty Breeze?! She's nothing compared to me!" She readies her hands to attack Duck who seems unbothered by her attitude.
Duck: "Well, someone has an ego." Then she attacks and causes a big wave. "And a temper!" Duck is swallowed by the wave but activates his jetpack.
Weathervane: "I am Queen of the Elements! Weather Goddess!" She gives an evil laughter just as Duck appears and gives her a spinning kick, causing her to scream and spin back.
Duck: "Did you see that coming, Misty Hater?" Weathervane manages to stop spinning and gets annoyed.
Weathervane: "You again?"
Duck: "Nobody disses Misty Breeze or you answer to the vice president and founding member of her international fan club!" Weathervane is incensed.
Weathervane: "I answer to no one, you annoying duck!"
Duck: "Get used to it because I'm not done!"
Weathervane: "I've heard ENOUGH!" With that, Weathervane burst into a dark velvet cloud and two massive claws and arms come out and a massive dragon head appears at the top with glowing velvet eyes. Duck is a little stunned.
Duck: "Now there's something you don't see every day." Then the other Loonatics arrive.
Lexi: Duck! What are you doing? Where's Weathervane?" Then she and the others look up.
Rip: "Oh, man. Please tell me that's not her." The dragon comes out in full form with large wings and Weathervane's laugh is heard. The dragon moves with the clouds towards Acemetropolis.
Tech: "It's heading for the city!" The Loonatics chase after it. The dragon arrives at the city and fires lighting bolts from it's mouth destroying a building and a nearby pier. The chaos causes dozens of people to run through a large square opening. The dragon uses it's claw to break off the steel top of a radio tower onto the people. Tech flies under and uses his magnetism to twist tower into a ball before it hits the ground and people and throws it at the dragon, but the clouds suck it in without hitting the dragon. Tech is amazed. The Loonatics regroup on a rooftop overlooking the square.
Lexi: "A busted fire hydrant is not gonna take that thing out."
Ace: "Hey, Tech. I don't suppose you have a really BIG hairdryer?"
Tech: "If you're thinking about evaporating that thing, it would take a hairdryer ooh about a mile wide."
Ace: "Though so. Hey, Rev. Any idea where we can find the hottest spot in a hundred miles?"
Rev: "Oh, baby do I have a fiery hotspot for you guys! It's gonna burn the hair off you if you get too close! Man this place is SCORCHING!" Tech knows exactly what Rev has in mind.
Tech: "Got it! Time to set a trap. We just need some bait for it." Everyone looks at Duck.
Duck: "Why is everyone looking at me? Let me guess. Me again?"
Ace, Lexi, Slam, and Rip follow Tech in his new portable lab to an island with an active volcano.
Ace: "This gonna work?"
Tech: "If the lave depth charge is in sync with the targeting mechanism there should be enough combustion to-"
Ace: "English, Tech!"
Tech: "Yeah, it should go boom." The team land on the island.
Rip: "That'll activate the volcano?"
Tech: "Your guess is as good as mine."
Lexi: "Hey, guys. It's show time!" Tech opens the cockpit and a roar grabs their attention. They see the dragon chasing after Duck and Rev who are luring it to the volcano. Rev is like a jet boat and Duck is like a water skier.
Duck: "Misty predicts the weather! Not nightmares!" The dragon fires a few bolts at Duck and misses. "Well, look at the mighty Storm Dragon acting all big and superior. Let me tell you something, dragon lady, Misty is still number one in my charts!" The dragon is angered and strikes again with large hailstones. Rev notices this and maneuvers to avoid them. "Whoa, missed me, missed me again, and again!" The dragon continues. "Whoa, bad aim! Is that as fast as you can go? You're such a sad excuse for a monster. Much less a weather girl! How pathetic!" On the island, Tech removes a large lava depth charge and places it in front of everyone.
Tech: "Slam can withstand the heat better than any of us." Slam looks towards Tech. "Take this up to the top and when I say "now", push this red button and throw it into the volcano. You got it? "Now"." Slam gives a grunting nod and a smile. Then he pushes the button.
Tech, Lexi, Rip: "SLAM!"
Robot Voice: "Detonation in 30 seconds."
Tech: "No! Not "now" now! "Now" LATER!" Slam gives a confused grunt and pulls out the button with a nervous smile.
Ace: "Just get it up there! NOW!" Slam picks the charge up and with determined grunts, flies to the top of the volcano. Meanwhile, Rev and Duck are still luring the dragon.
Duck: "You want Misty, you bad of wind? Catch me!"
Rev: "Yeah, Duck! HEE HEE!" Slam makes it to the top and throws the charge into the lave with 10 seconds left. Rev charges through the trees and Duck gets a mouth full of leaves and eventually makes it to the top and Duck stays there to keep the dragon distracted. Duck can hear the charge call out 4 seconds left and teleports out, leaving the dragon to look without moving. Duck appears at a safe distance on the island.
Duck: "Chance of explosion, 100 percent!" On cue, the charge explodes, causing a tremendous eruption that engulfs the dragon and causes it to dissipate. The lave then spreads down the volcano. Tech remembers his porta lab.
Tech: "My porta lab! I just built it!" Rip quickly flies to it.
Rip: "I got it!" Rip uses the full force of his telekinesis to lift the porta lab high enough to evade the lava, allowing Tech to enter the cockpit and fly it.
Tech: "Oh, man! Thanks, Rip!" The weight of the porta lab causes Rip to fall from exhaustion, but Rev saves him from falling into the lava.
Rev: "Got you, Rip!"
Rip: "Thanks, Rev!"
Tech: "Couldn't bare to watch my new baby get destroyed so soon!" Tech activates his porta lab's autopilot to fly back to HQ. Ace and Lexi watch with worry.
Ace: "Wow. He really needs to get out more." Rip quickly recovers strong enough to fly with his teammates through the city.
Lexi: I'm picking up Zadavia's signal." The team heads back to City Hall Plaza and land in front of the news van after the cameraman fixes his camera and goes in. Zadavia appears on the outdoor screen on the side with a smile.
Zadavia: "There are no more traces of the Sky Dragon. But what happened to Weathervane remains a mystery. We can only assume she escaped." Then Misty and the cameraman come out and Misty sees Zadavia. The Loonatics then all turn to Misty with smiles. "Good job, Loonatics. Zadavia-" Before she can finish, Misty turns the monitor off.
Misty: "Who is this? I'm the only pretty face on this channel!"
Duck: "You certainly are, Misty!"
After Duck gets an autograph from Misty, the Loonatics head back to HQ for a victory meal.
