Stop the World I Want To Get Off
People are arriving at the Bank of Acmetropolis for deposits and withdrawals. They each step through a metal detector as a pre-recorded voice calls out.
"Welcome to the Bank of Acmetropolis where your deposits are always safe."
A mother and her child approach the banker behind the glass.
"Go ahead, son. Give it to him." The mother says.
The boy takes out a golden coin.
"This is my first deposit." The boy says.
"Well, isn't that exciting?" The banker says bored.
The boy puts the coin on the counter and a light teleports it to the other side of the glass. The banker is about to pick it up when a voice calls out.
"Listen up people." Loud footsteps are heard and a very large man with a blue face and wearing a green robe, steps into the center. "I am Massive. This is a robbery. And I would appreciate your full cooperation." He throws his arms out which emit a gravitational energy and the robe shreds revealing him to be wearing a cyan/green battle suit.
"And if we don't?" One guard challenges with his rifle aimed at Massive.
"Then you'll feel a lot heavy when this is over." Massive says. He focuses his hand on the rifle and the energy causes it to fall to the floor despite the guard's efforts to hold it up. "Now half of you reach for the sky." He lifts his hand up and the energy lifts half of the people to the ceiling. "And the other half get down." The other half are pulled to the floor. "As you can see, I'm into gravity. Heh, well, that and money."
Massive breaks the door to the booth down and approaches the vault.
"Hm, 5-foot thick steel Tanium bolts. Hasn't anyone heard of the word "challenge?"" Massive says with a smile. He effortlessly breaks the two bolts off and enters the vault. Inside, is a large pile of gold worth millions. "Hm, 100,000,000 in Quasar Linium and now it's mine." As he takes the gold, he also takes the little boy's gold coin.
"Hey, that's mine!" The boy yells.
"Aw, I'm sorry, but every little bit helps." Massive replies without a care.
As he exits the bank, the alarms sound and he let's the people in the air fall to the ground. The boy lands on his mother. As the guards get ready to chase him, Massive pushes them back with his powers and the door slams shut.
"Oh, and have a nice day! HAhahahaha!" Massive says.
At the Loonatics HQ, Slam and Duck are watching the sports channel.
"Hello, and welcome to the ultimate showdown, the last game of the Basherball Semi-Finals! The winner today will advance to face the Acme Rangers in the Mondo Ball." The announcer says.
Duck gets up with a portable ball launcher on his arm.
"Check out this move" Duck says. He jumps and does a dramatic roll and back flip and lands in front of Slam and tries a shot, but the ball launcher simply pushes the ball out and bounces away. Duck is embarrassed. "Of course, if I were a real basherball player, I'd have a professional basherball grabzooka."
Slam gives an amused laugh and Duck gets irritated.
"I don't know what you said, but I'm insulted anyway."
Slam shushes Duck and directs to the TV showing the sponsor of the Finals.
"Mr. Leghorn, who are you rooting for today?" The announcer asks Mr. Leghorn.
"I would just like to say how pleased I say pleased I am to announce that the Mondo Ball is going to take place at the World Drome." Mr. Leghorn says.
The TV goes on the fritz and Zadavia appears on the screen in her aura.
"Team, we have a problem." Zadavia says.
"Any chance that this can wait until halftime?" Duck moans.
"Now, Duck." Zadavia says sternly.
Ace and Lexi come from the kitchen, Tech comes from the lab and Rev and Rip come from the training area.
"What's up, boss?" Ace asks.
"There's a thief at large, committing many crimes all over Acmetropolis" Zadavia announces.
"A thief? Isn't that beneath us super types?" Lexi asks.
"Not if he's a super thief." Rev says
"Indeed, Rev. This thief has the power of gravity. Do be careful not to get crushed. Zadavia out." The TV screen turns off.
So, a gravity supervillain, huh? This should be interesting. Let's jet!" Ace says and the team head out.
"I'm picking up gravitational energy at the Acemetropolis museum." Tech says at his monitor.
"The museum it is." Ace says and they head to the museum.
At the museum, people are running away screaming. Inside, three guards are being held down by Massive's power.
"I am Massive. You guys chill out and while you're lying around, I'll just relieve you of your trinkets." Massive looks at his target, a massive, egg shaped jewel with several diamonds on it.
"Ok, doc. Step away from the egg." Ace calls out.
Massive turns and sees the Loonatics standing in front of the entrance.
"The Loonatics, huh? Seem's like Massive's popularity is growing. How about I give you a choice instead? Save this one trinket, or save yourselves? Don't you know the cost of being heroes is rising?" Massive says. He covers the egg with his powers and lifts the floor under the Loonatics up. Then he brings the ceiling over the Loonatics down. "Time for a hero sandwich!"
"No way! Tech! Rip!" Ace orders.
"On it, chief!" Tech says.
Tech and Rip use their powers. Rip keeps the floor section down while Tech keeps the ceiling portion up. Massive throws an object at them. Ace blasts it to dust.
"Try and stop this, rabbit! And this!" Massive throws four more objects. Ace, Lexi and Duck blast three of them while Rip grabs the fourth with what little concentration he has. He throws it back at Massive and hits his head.
"Back at ya!" Rip declares. Massive isn't happy. He takes the egg and makes his escape.
"I'm finished yo-yoing with you, Loonatics!
The Loonatics jump down.
"Ace, the guards!" Lexi says.
Ace stops falling rubble from hitting the guards with his laser eyes. Massive takes this chance to destroy the support columns of the museum, making it unstable.
"The museum is now closed." Massive declares and leaves. Rev is dragging one guard out but the other two are still held down by Massive's gravity.
Loonatics, we gotta get these people out of here!" Ace says and he uses his lasers and carves a circle around the guards and Slam rips the piece off and carries them out of the museum. "Rip! Duck!" Do what you can to save the artifacts!"
Duck takes a bag and puts as many as he can into it while Rip uses his psychic powers to lift the rest. They both get out with the rest before the museum collapses.
"Well, guys, it looks like Massive skipped." Ace says.
"How does somebody that big skip?" Lexi jokes. Duck brings a mask he saved.
"Aw, who cares? I risked my feathers to save this? Uh, what is this?" Duck says.
"Those gravity powers of his are far too much." Rip says
"Not to mention he could easily stop me when I'm running." Rev adds.
"We need to pick where the next fight goes down. We need the home court advantage." Ace says.
"We could set up a sting." Zadavia says on their wrist communicators.
The Loonatics stand from left to right Slam, Rip, Rev, Duck, Ace, Lexi and Tech and each raise their fists and the monitors eject a light that forms into a hologram of Zadavia.
"A sting? That sounds painful." Duck says.
"Lay out a trap for him. What's the one thing Massive wants the most?" Zadavia asks.
"Money." Tech says.
"Lots of it." Ace adds. "That egg was worth 150 million in Quasar Linium. We're a little short. Got any pennies in your piggy bank, Zadavia?"
"I have a good stash for a rainy day. Got any ideas?" Zadavia says.
"Yeah. Why don't we make a public investment?" Ace says.
"Sounds perfect." Lexi says.
"Yeah. Anyone with that amount of greed wouldn't resist." Rip adds.
At an event designed to look like an investment, a ship is docked with a platform at the base of it's loading steps with Duck posing as an investor. A crowd of nearly a hundred sit in attendance. A spokesperson for Rocket Industry is speaking.
"Today is a glorious day for Rocket Industry." The spokesperson announces. "Please join me in welcoming our newest investor, Mr. Mallard Megaduck."
The crowd cheers and we see Ace and Lexi disguised as guests.
"Remember, don't ad lib." Ace tells Duck through the communicator. "Get on and get off."
"Righto." Duck says. He approaches the podium. "Thank you, thank you. I am more than proud to invest 200 million in Quasar Linium in gold bars for the construction of these new high-tech rocket ships. So in closing..."
"Everyone else in position?" Ace calls out to the rest.
"Ready, Ace." Tech responds.
Rev and Rip are ushers bringing attendees to their seats, Slam is a worker putting a fuel tube in the ship and Tech is concession vendor.
"Rip and I are in position and I gotta tell you Ace, this is exciting!" Rev says.
"We got it, Rev." Ace says. "Is our little surprise ready, Tech?
"My specially made hand crafted Gravity Stabilization Gyro is all set." Tech says with proudness. He opens a compartment in front of the handle of his cart and in it, the gyro lays in a corner. "Any gravity affected by Massive will be instantly restored to normal." He closes the lid.
"Then we're good to go." Ace says.
"Nice timing, because I can hear some gravity waves coming." Lexi says with her ears glowing.
Then Massive appears and floats onto the stage.
"Well well well, what do we have here? Massive amounts of Quasar Linium and massive amounts of me." Massive says.
The crowd flees and Duck teleports away.
"That's right. Run before you make me throw my weight around. No one stands up to Massive!" Massive declares.
"Yo, Mean and Green!" Ace calls out. "Didn't your mother ever tell you that money can't buy you happiness?"
"She did. That's why I'm stealing it." Massive replies with a smile.
Ace fires his laser eyes at Massive to no effect.
"My body is so dense, I'm invincible." Massive says with pride.
Ace does a leap, draws out his sword and attacks Massive who effortlessly knocks him away. Slam spins toward Massive.
"You think you puny little hacks are gonna do any good? You have no chance against my powers." Massive says and readies his gravity powers.
Slam gets to him quick enough and knocks him back hard with the full force of an elbow blow, sending Massive into a wall, cracking it. Massive falls face down.
All the Loonatics eyes glow with their colors.
"Quick, everyone! While he's down!" Ace orders.
The team charges at Massive, but he gets up quick and levitates them up. Rip manages to evade the beam.
"Feeling a little light-headed?" Massive mocks. Duck hits him in the chest with a fireball.
"Forgetting someone?" Duck taunts.
"Not exactly." Massive says with a grin. He holds Duck down hard on the ground with gravity. "You see, all their weight has to go somewhere."
"Thanks for clarifying." Duck weakly says under the pressure of the gravity.
Rip uses his telekinesis to throw the cart of Quasar Linium at Massive, sending him into the wall again. The bars scatter everywhere. Massive is still able to hold up the others.
"Looks like you forgot someone." Duck jokes.
"There's your change, you filthy animal!" Rip taunts. Massive is angry.
"Oh, you'll be sorry for that!" Massive declares. He shoots another ray at Rip who dodges with his speed.
"So big, yet too slow!" Rip taunts again.
Massive angrily yells and attacks Rip again. He dodges again. Rip knows he can't get the Gyro in time. He lifts Massive with his telekinesis and slams him down.
"Let them go, Massive!" Rip demands. "Your telekinesis is good, little birdie." Massive muses. "But as long as I am focused, no one's getting loose."
Rip runs again but Massive lifts a small piece of the ground up enough to trip Rip, causing him to crash to the ground. Massive then catches him in a gravity ray.
"Two birds with one stone." Massive gloats. "How about I make it harder?" Massive lifts Rip up and slams him down hard next to Duck.
"Rip!" Rev screams.
I heard you two are brothers. Guess you'll have to do without one now." Massive says. "Looks like you could use a vacation. So, where to send you? Oh, I don't know. How 'bout the moon? Yes. HA HA HA! Farewell, Loonatics!" Massive sends the captured Loonatics up into the sky in the direction of the moon leaving Duck and Rip to watch helplessly.
"According to this, I weight -1,268 pounds." Tech says while looking at his stat monitor. "Fascinating!"
"Really interesting, Tech." Ace says. "But could you make us heavier?"
"That is, without making us look bloated?" Lexi jokes.
"And before we run out of air to breathe." Rev adds.
"Duck, can you point Tech's gyro up at us?" Ace asks Duck through the communicator. Duck tries to move, but the gravity rays are too strong, and he can barely move his head.
"No. Unless I can do it by lying here and not moving." Duck groans.
"Rip, how about you? Can you use your telekinesis?" Ace asks.
"Sorry, Ace, but this gravity's so heavy I can't even focus." Rip groans.
Duck looks toward the ship.
"Hang on. I have an idea. Rip, grab on!" Duck says.
Rip and Duck manage to grab each other's hands and Duck teleports them into the ship onto the roof of the control panel.
"Oh, yeah! The duck has landed. Whoa!" Duck says as the gravity pulls them down, crushing the control and activating the ship. Rip and Duck land two seats.
"Not a happy landing." Rip jokes.
The ship flies off toward the others.
"Hold on!" We're coming for ya! If I can steer this thing!" Duck says while unable to grab the controls.
"We're coming up right beside you!" Rip says.
"Thanks guys. We see ya. Everybody, hang on!" Ace says.
The others each grab on to each other with Tech at the back and Slam at the front as the ship approaches.
"Slam, let's hitch a ride!" Ace says.
Slam manages to get a tight grip on the hull of the ship.
"Got one shot at this." Ace says. He blasts the hull with his laser eyes and melts a hole allowing the others to get in.
Tech takes a seat at the front and takes control.
"Your weight has crushed the controls beyond repair, but I should be able to get us down." Tech says. "It's gonna be a rough landing!"
Tech manages to get the ship back at the same port and they safely crash with no injury. Tech uses his magnetism to reach his gyro.
"Now to get the gyro and restore us to normal gravity." Tech activates the gyro towards them. "That's it, come to papa."
The gyro activates and shoots waves that deactivate the gravity rays around them and restore the gravity to normal.
They land hard on the floor and walk out.
"The gyro works. We have gravity." Tech declares.
"You ok, Rip?" Rev asks.
"I didn't break a bone, thankfully. But other than that, I'm ok." Rip answers.
"That's Massive 2, Good Guys 0." Lexi says.
"So, we know his power is all about give and take." Ace theorizes. "Making something lighter or heavier than vice versa. Maybe we can use that against him."
"Got that right. It's about time we got to throw our own weight around." Lexi says.
"So, first we need to figure out his pattern." Rev says.
"Right, Rev." Ace says. "And I think I figured it out. He stole 100 million from the bank, the egg was worth 150 million and we set him up with 200 million Quazar Linium."
"Ah, he keeps 1-uping himself!" Lexi notices. "With every heist, he takes more than the last."
"Which brings up the question." Rip says. "What's worth more than 200 million?"
"All this chasing is gonna make us miss the Basherball game at the World Drome!" Duck moans. "And I want to see who wins this year's trophy."
"Wait, the trophy." Lexi says. "Duck, that's it!"
"Yeah!" Ace agrees. "That trophy's been all over the news. And I bet it's pretty expensive."
"Looks like we have a game to attend." Tech deduces.
At the World Drome, the stadium is completely filled.
"Yes, the biggest, most expensive trophy in the world is up for grabs today because this is the Mondo Bowl and we're live at the World Drome." The newsman announces. "Tonight's game is sure to be a spectacle. It's the Acmetropolis Rangers agains the Lebrakian Manglers. And with me now is Rangers starting backer, Trick Daley. How do you feel tonight, Trip?"
"I feel pumped and ready to play to give this crowd quite a show." Trick says.
At the same time, Massive is watching the news at his hideout.
"Thank you, Trip, and remember, this is what you're playing for." The newsman says.
The giant gold trophy is shown with numerous diamonds all over it with a large globe of the Earth on top.
"The solid gold, diamond studded Mondo Trophy of the World Drome, worth over 250 million Quasar Linium. Think you can win tonight?" The newsman asks.
Oh, we're the best team in the League. We're gonna mangle the Manglers." Trick says looking at the camera in sports fashion.
"Oh, sorry Trick, but tonight's victory is not gonna be a team effort." Massive says with his mind set on stealing the trophy.
The newsman is sitting next to Mr Leghorn in the VIP Box.
"I'm here now with World Drome owner and Basherball League President Mr. Leghorn. What do you say sir?" The newsman asks.
"When I watch a Basherball game, I always, I say always, keep a part of my own snack recipe, Chili Girt, close by." Mr. Leghorn says. "It's the official snack of the World Drome!" The crown erupts into cheers.
In the audience, the Loonatics have taken 7 seats. Ace, Tech, Rip and Rev sit behind Slam, Duck and Lexi. Rip and Lexi each got a drink, while Rev and Slam each got popcorn.
"Ready, Tech?" Ace asks.
Tech has his gyro in one hand and a new gadget in his other. He lifts them up.
"Yes. These gauntlets use the same gravity stabilization ray as my gyro and should neutralize Massive's powers." Tech says. "All we have to do is get them on him."
Then the teams start to take the field.
"The Acmetropolis Rangers are on their bikes and entering the arena." The announcer announces. "And here come the Lebrakian Manglers. The game today will settle a long running feud between these two teams. The Rangers and the Manglers have taken the field, and Mr. Leghorn is about to grabzooka the first ball into play."
Mr. Leghorn gives a playful chuckle and a wave, aims his grabzooka, and fires the ball beginning the game.
"And they're off. These are two fierce rivals and we're clearly seeing why they call it Basherball." The announcer says. "Wow! And Trick Daley grabs the first ball, and he passes to number 2, Chris Kay the Mauler. The Manglers are in hot pursuit. He looks unstoppable. He shoots, he scores!"
The crowd erupts into cheers.
"The Manglers now have the ball. Magma Cassius is looking to even up the score. Cassius shoots and Chris the Mauler intercepts. He passes it to number 5 who passes it to Trick Daley. This looks like the old hook and ladder. Trick Daley shoots and-" The announcer cuts off as Massive stops the ball from an unknown location with his gravity ray. "I don't believe it. It stopped in mid-air! This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen!"
The crowd is stunned. The Loonatics know that Massive is making his move.
"He's here." Ace says.
"Folks, you're witnessing sports history today and-" The announcer is cut off again as the ball is pulled down hard by the gravity ray and explodes on impact. Then, Massive appears out of the player hole on his gravity rays. "And what's this? A new player on the field?"
"Let's move!" Ace orders and the team head to the floor of the Arena.
"Sorry for the massive interruption, but I'm pretty sure you all recognize me. So yes, it is safe to assume that this is a robbery." Massive declares. Massive attacks the Drome Security first. "Now half of you reach for the sky and the other half hit the floor!" He lifts half up and pulls the other half down. Massive then moves toward Mr. Leghorn.
"Ok, sir, you made, I say you made your point." Mr. Leghorn says while holding up his expensive gold watch. "Here. Take this and scram."
"Oh, I'm not some petty thief, Mr. Leghorn." Massive assures. "Who else in Acmetropolis would have the guts to steal something on live TV? I'm the greatest thief that Acmetropolis has ever seen. So, I'm gonna have to go home with something a lot bigger." Massive grabs the trophy with his gravity ray.
The Loonatics are watching from the floor of the Arena with clenched teeth.
"Thanks to you, Mr. Leghorn, this is the crime of the millennium." Massive declares. "Your ratings will go through the roof because of it."
"You know, for the price of the ticket, think we can get a better halftime show." Ace says while clenching his fist in his palm. Slam then makes his move. "Take him down, Slam!"
Slam hits Massive from behind just as Massive grabs the trophy, causing him to drop it back into the Box. Massive is unable to control his decent.
"Rev, Rip, go!" Ace orders.
"Ok, Ace. Time to give this guy a taste of his own medicine!" Rev says as he speeds to where Massive is falling to and gives him a hard kick, sending him across the field. Rev speeds to the other side. "Let's see how you like it being punched around big guy! I'll show you what happens when you mess with my brother!" Rev kicks him again. "Rev Runner passes to Rip Runner!"
Rip speeds to the receiving end.
"Rip Runner connects!" Rip says as he kicks Massive as hard as Rev did. Rip speeds to the other side. "This is what happens when you mess with my friends! Here's a boot to head!" Rip kicks Massive in the head sending him across the field again. Rip runs across, but Massive recovers.
"Time for you to slow down, bird." Massive says as he grabs Rip with his gravity ray as Rip is climbing the ring wall.
"Gah! Too heavy!" Rip says as he falls. Before he hits the ground, Rev speeds under him in time to cushion his fall while trapping them both. "Thanks for breaking my fall, bro."
"Anytime." Rev says.
Slam makes a move, but Massive catches on and grabs him with another gravity ray.
"Not this time, big guy!" Massive says and his lifts Massive all the way to the roof of the Arena.
"Uh-oh." Slam grumbles. Tech flies up to him with the gyro.
"Gotcha, Slam. I'll reverse it with my-" Tech is cut off as Massive grabs the gyro with his gravity ray. "Going down." Tech grumbles. Tech impacts the floor, and Ace comes up to him.
"Tech, you ok?" Ace asks. He tries to pick up the gyro, but it's caught in Tech's hand and the gravity makes it hard to pick up.
"Define ok." Tech says under the pressure.
"Um, I'm gonna borrow these." Ace picks up the gauntlets.
Lexi had gathered the two teams together.
"Fire!" Lexi orders.
The two teams fire ten balls at Massive and Lexi uses her sonic blasts to cause them to explode all around him.
"Tag you're it!" Lexi taunts. Home and Visitors 1, Massive 0!" The two teams give a cheer.
Massive's eyes glow and his attacks Lexi and the teams. They scatter, but Massive grabs one of the Manglers and is about to throw him, but Ace blasts Massive in the back with a laser.
"Game's over, Massive!" Ace declares.
"Hahahaha." Massive laughs. "I told you; you can't hurt me!"
"Maybe not, but I'm working on making you uncomfortable. Duck! Lexi! Blast him!" Ace orders. He, Duck and Lexi all attack Massive at once. They send him flying through the Box. Massive looks down and see's the trophy.
"My trophy!" Massive screams. He grabs the trophy with another ray but is moving too fast he goes through the roof before he can grab it with his hands, causing the trophy to dangle on the edge of the hole. Massive lands on the lower roof. "Ok, I've really had enough about-" Massive is cut off as Duck throws some Chili Guri. He wipes it off.
"What's the matter? Don't like Chili Guri, beans and all that Girt?" Duck taunts. Also, it packs on the pounds, so you'll never see me-"
"Oh, you want to be lighter? Fine." Massive says with a smile and readies another ray.
"Um, that's not exactly what I meant!" Duck nervously says. Massive grabs him.
"Going up!" Massive says as he lifts Duck up. Lexi jumps into the hole.
"You get him, Duck?" Lexi calls.
"Probably a no." Duck says.
Massive grabs Lexi. "Come on down and join the party!" He moves Duck and Lexi into each other.
"Um, are we holding each other in place?" Duck jokes.
"Definitely not the place I want to be." Lexi says.
"Now, where was I?" Massive asks as he collects his focus. He looks up. "Ah, yes. The trophy!" He lifts it out of the hole and lowers it down. "When are they ever gonna learn? Massive always gets paid."
Ace appears in the hole with a rope. His eyes are glowing and he's smiling.
"You know you didn't win that." Ace sarcastically says. He jumps down with the rope.
"You're through, you flea bitten rabbit!" Massive says and aims at Ace.
"That's "bunny", doc!" Ace declares and he swings to avoid the ray. Massive attacks again and misses again. "Ha! You missed! Ace somersaults onto the trophy.
"This bunny is going down!" Massive declares. Ace fires a laser and Massive ducks. Massive fires another ray but hits the trophy instead, causing it to be heavier and fall hard.
"No! You are doc!" Ace declares and the trophy lands hard on Massive, sinking him into the roof and trapping him. Massive tries to use his rays to escape, but Ace snaps the gauntlets on his hands, rendering his powers useless. "Here's a little bling-bling for your trip to Sing-Sing."
The other Loonatics join Ace on the roof.
"If you think these things can hold me, you're wrong." Massive declares. "You can't control gravity!"
"Yeah, yeah. But it'll do for now." Lexi brushes Massive off.
"They'll have a special cell designed so that your gravity won't work." Tech says.
"I understand the food's bad there, Massive." Rip jokes. "Hope you have a strong stomach."
The Loonatics laugh.
Terrific, I say terrific job!" Mr. Leghorn calls out from above. "I'd like to give you a reward for saving all of these people who paid good money to come into my World Drome!"
"Well, but we can't really accept your reward, Mr. Leghorn." Ace says with gratitude.
"If we could, what kind of reward are we talking about?" Duck inquires.
"Ooh, well uh, how about a lifetime supply of my own red-hot Chili Girt?" Mr. Leghorn offers.
"Too rich for us, but not Slam." Ace says.
Slam offers to eat it all in one gulp.
"Go to town, son!" Mr. Leghorn obliges and dumbs a large vat of his Chili Girt into Slam's mouth.
Slam gulps it all in one gulp to the surprise of the others.
"Ok, it's official." Duck says in disgust. "I'm gonna be sick." Som Chili Girt splashes onto Duck's face.
"Is there still time for the game?" Rip asks.
"Sure thing, son!" Mr. Leghorn says. "When you return to your seats, the game will resume."
The Loonatics head back to the Arena and take their seats and the match resumes.
