AN: This takes place after the first chapter of "Training Day."

The only thing Millie could see was her blood on the ground, the same ground she was face-down in. She had no idea where she was or how she ended up in this situation. All Millie knew was that she couldn't stand or feel her right arm. Suddenly, she heard a giggle that sent chills down her spine.

"What's wrong, little imp?" The all-too familiar voice said. "What happened to that tough attitude you had?"

Looking up only confirmed her worst fears. Standing over her was the blonde-haired demon hunter that took Millie's arm and nearly killed her, with that haunting grin and holding two swords covered in imp blood. She thought he was going to kill her, but instead he walked away towards another imp laying in their own blood. It took Millie a few seconds to recognize the imp as Moxxie.

"You demons think you control fear?" the hunter said as he put away the sword in his right hand and picked up Moxxie by the throat. "Let's see how true that is when I kill the love of your life." He then aligned the sword in his left hand with Moxxie's stomach. Millie tried to move, but it was as if she was paralyzed and all she could do was scream for him to stop, which only made the hunter's grin wider.

Then, in the blink of an eye, he thrust his blade inside of her husband.

Millie jolted up from the bed, panting as she remembered where she was. She was still in her home and Moxxie was sound asleep next to her, making her sigh in relief. But the relief went away when she got a look at her mechanical right arm. It had been almost 2 weeks since the day she was in charge of a training mission with the new I.M.P recruits. It was a success since they killed their target, but then a strange demon hunter came and nearly killed them all. They escaped, but Millie lost her right arm. This man was the only human that bested her (without having to use chloroform) and was able to wound a Chimera, who knows what would happen if they met again?

There was no way she could sleep after something like that, so she got up and walked into the living room. The only sound that was heard was from the rain outside, patting against the window and onto the ground. While there, she saw Jessie and Amanda asleep in their cribs. Looking over them sleeping peacefully, it should've made her happy, but instead she remembered something: there was a chance she could have never seen them again back there. She could have died, and these two beautiful children would've had to grow up without a mom. The feeling made her turn away and look out the window, but that changed nothing. Dread overwhelmed her to the point that she gave and burst into tears.

Millie had never felt like this in a long time. It was the fear of death, something that popped up only briefly during their fight with Striker.

"Millie, are you ok?" She heard Moxxie say, following her into the living room.

"I'm-"

I'm fine, is what she wanted to say, but anyone with eyes could tell that she wasn't. Plus, she knew better than to lie to Moxxie. "I'm not ok, Mox. I-I almost died. My whole life was… was flashing before me. I lost a fucking arm, and I thought… oh Satan, I thought I wasn't gonna see the kids again!"

Millie tried her best to look away, trying not to let her husband see him like this. Moxxie quickly ran over to his wife and gave her a hug from behind, trying his best to comfort her. "Satan, I… I fucking hate that you had to… to see me like this. But… the things he did to us… what he could've done if you didn't…"

"I know… I know. I'm right here with you." Moxxie said. "Just let it all out."

"Thank you, s-sweetie. Fuck, I hate cryin'."

"It's ok to cry." Moxxie said as Millie cried into his chest. "The best of us do. Hell, we even did it the day we made us official."

Millie laughed, tears still flowing down her face. "Yeah, yeah, I remember that. We were a… a fucking mess, but it was one of the… best days of my life." Then she remembered her dream and the horrifying scenario she saw in it. "I'm… worried about you too. This guy he… you didn't see him… how he beat us, I… I don't wanna lose you."

For a moment, the only sound that could be heard was the rain outside and Millie crying into Moxxie's chest as he gently brushed her hair with his hand. Suddenly, she felt something drip down onto her hair and shoulder. Backing away a bit, she could see that Moxxie was crying just as bad as she was.

"I-I still remember when I… I held you in my arms that day. There… there was so much blood." Moxxie gathered as much strength as he could to continue. "Those days when I saw you… laying there on Martha's bed, I… I couldn't sleep even if I wanted to. I prayed to Satan, the Sins, I even prayed to all the other gods, including… the one in Heaven. The thought of losing you… I couldn't handle it. I don't know what I'd do if-"

"Don't… don't think about it." Millie said, sniffing through her words as she hugged him back, reassuring herself as well as Moxxie. "I didn't know… know you felt this way too."

"I-I just thought… seeing you alive and back to normal… it made me so happy that… I thought I got over it."

The two imps held onto one another as they let their tears flow. Millie could only think of 3 words to say to Moxxie to comfort him. "I love you."

"I love you, too." He replied. Those words didn't sound like much, but to him, it was more than enough. "I should've been there. If I was, maybe… maybe…"

"Maybe you would've… would've gotten hurt too. It wasn't… your fault, Moxxie."

"I know, I… I tried to tell myself that every day since… since you lost your arm. But I keep thinking that if… if I did something sooner… you could've still had it." Moxxie gently grabbed her mechanical arm and guided it to his left cheek. "Maybe then you… you could've felt something with this arm again."

The moment she touched his cheek with her arm, Millie's eyes widened in shock. "I-I do feel you."

"I know you're trying to make me feel better, but please-"

"No, Mox… I can feel you with this arm!"

And that was the truth, she could feel the familiar softness of his face as if her old arm was still there. She caressed it a bit to make sure it wasn't a trick of the mind, and once again she felt his cheek. Confused, Moxxie held her robotic arm, and to his absolute surprise, he didn't feel metal. Instead, he felt the skin of Millie's old arm. He also double-checked his feeling by sliding his finger over it, and it felt as smooth as her. He even kissed the palm of her hand, which felt like her normal palm, and Millie felt his sweet lips on her hand.

"What… what's going on?" Moxxie said.

"I don't know, but it's fucking amazing!" Millie said, their tears of sorrow now replaced with tears of joy. Wanting to test something out, Millie walked on over to Jessie and Amanda and rubbed their head with that same arm. And to their unspeakable joy, she could feel the gentle hairs of her children. They had no idea what was going on, but whatever it was, it was a miracle. It was like they had some guardian devil watching over them and giving them gifts like this.

The two gave each other a hug, the biggest hug they could muster. "This… this is incredible!" Moxxie said.

Millie grabbed onto her husband's hair with her right arm, savoring the returned feeling. "No, Moxxie, we're… we're incredible!" She said. "This… it's because of us."

For some reason, what she said made sense to Moxxie. They had already known that what they had was special, but this was just more proof of that. It was as if bright and shining hope had overshadowed their fear. They felt like they could take on anything again… even that demon hunter.

Still, Millie felt as though they needed to address the danger of their job, so she looked Moxxie in his tear-filled eye. "I need you to promise me somethin'. Promise that we'll do whatever it takes to get to our kids alive."

"O-Of course I promise."

"I mean it, whatever it takes. Even it means we have to fight tooth and nail to get back. Even if it means we have to… leave friends or family to die so we can survive."

That was a grim scenario she described, they both thought so. But to her surprise, he didn't hesitate in his answer. "I promise you that we will come back to our kids alive, no matter what we have to do." It's not like they wanted it to happen. Blitz, Octavia, Wraith, even Loona were their closest friends. But if the time ever came to make a choice between any of them and M 's survival, they would pick themselves first. It would hurt to do so, but those kids needed to grow up with them around.

"And I promise you another thing." Moxxie held her robotic arm in his hand. "The next time we run into the son of a bitch that hurt you again, he's as good as dead."

Millie just smiled as he gave him a kiss, their future looking even brighter than before.
