Is The Dark All Dark?

Chapter 2

Lucius briefly glanced at his son before turning his attention back to the goblin. An annoyed look appeared on his face when the goblin simply thumbed through the folder sitting on his desk with a bored expression.

"Again who authorized such large monthly transactions from my…Mr. Potter's vaults?" Lucius repeated, sitting in the chair beside Harry. The teenage wizard reached up to wipe the tears away that had managed to drip down his chin, watching the eldest Malfoy.

"Seeing as Mr. Potter is still considered underage in the wizarding community and he is an orphan, an amount to this extent would have needed the approval of his magical guardian." Griphook explained. Lucius didn't fail to miss the look of confusion that crossed Harry's face at the mention of his magical guardian, causing him to ball his hands into fists in frustration.

"Harry who is your magical guardian?" Lucius questioned, giving the black-haired boy his full attention.

"What's a…magical guardian?" the Gryffindor questioned, tilting his head. Lucius barely managed to keep his composure, being reminded of Narcissa at the boy's actions.

"The magical guardian is the one primarily in charge of your vaults and making sure you understand what is means to be an…heir to a pureblood family. Normally it would be the current lord of the Potter family. However, considering the…circumstances it would be whoever raised you." Lucius explained. Harry blinked several times as he attempted to understand what his...birth father was explaining.

"I was raised by muggles. Until Hagrid told me about Hogwarts that summer before my first year I didn't even know I was a wizard. I'd...always just been called a freak." Harry explained, managing a shrug. He didn't want to mention to much about his aunt and uncle or seem like he was a weak person.

"How did you get into your vault to purchase your supplies that first year? Or the last two for that matter?" Lucius questioned. Harry leaned his head back, looking at the ceiling as he tried to think about that summer that changed his entire life. Hagrid had brought him to the bank that first time and the goblin teller had asked for a key.

"Hagrid had the key to my vault. He said the headmaster gave it to him. He kept it when we were done. I didn't have to return to my vault that summer before second year and then...last year Mrs. Weasley got my supplies because it was too dangerous for me to wander around." Harry explained. Lucius absently gritted his teeth at the mere thought of Harry not even having access to his vault. He wasn't sure what angered him more, the fact that those blood traitors were just helping themselves to someone else's money or the fact that Dumbledore was paying them to pretend to care about the boy.

"Mr. Potter, are you saying that you do not have your vault keys?" Griphook questioned, finally seeming to have gained some interest in their conversation. Harry simply shook his head, confused at the sudden furious look that crossed the goblin's features, making him seem even scary than he already was. The goblin quickly stood from his chair, stepping out of the office through the door located behind his desk. Harry sat in silence; his hands tightly clasped together in his lap. He briefly glanced at Lucius, slightly surprised by the man's concern about this matter.

"I'm really sorry...I...Griphook didn't really..." he stuttered, tripping over his words. Lucius released a low chuckle, shaking his head.

"I'm more than aware that Griphook wouldn't have given you a chance to run the minute the wards told you him you stepped into the bank." He explained, leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed. Harry managed a small nod, looking down at his hands. The two sat in awkward silence for several minutes, neither knowing what to say to the other. Lucius had barely opened his mouth to speak when the door once again opened and Griphook slipped back in.

"Mr. Potter, these are your new keys. They are to strictly stay on your person at all times and are not to be given to anyone else. The keys that Mister Dumbledore have will no longer allow access. On the matter pertaining to the payments to the Weasley family and Miss Granger however." The goblin state, giving the boy a sharp glare. Harry quickly nodded, reaching for the two silver keys.

"For now can the bank hold documented proof of the withdraws for Mr. Potter to decide what he wishes to do latter?" Lucius requested. Griphook only gave them a firm nod, slipping the stack of papers back into the folder. Harry watched as he placed them in one of the drawers, pressing his palm against the wood to seal it.

"Now Lord Malfoy, was there a reason you barged your way into this meeting with Heir Potter?" Griphook questioned, giving the Lord his full attention. Lucius glanced at Harry for a moment before taking a deep breath.

"I wish to request a blood test for Mr. Potter. There are a few things that have recently came to light that I would like to have tested. You may deduct your price from my vault to cover it." He explained. Harry flinched, hating the doubt that was clearly in Mr. Malfoy's voice. Griphook only nodded, not questioning what the details were. Harry jumped when several items appeared on the desk in front of him. Griphook grabbed the silver knife, holding on his hand towards the boy.

"He just needs a few drops of your blood Harry." Lucius explained upon seeing the confused look on the boy's face. His temper slipped for a moment as he thought about just how much his son didn't understand or know about the wizarding world because of Albus Dumbledore's meddling. Even if Harry wasn't the Malfoy heir, he knew that he was heir to the Potter family because of the blood adoption. He should have been raised to know their customs and traditions. Harry glanced between Lucius and Griphook before he finally held out his hand, letting the goblin drag the knife along his palm, drawing blood. He titled his hand to allow the blood to fall into the light blue potion. Lucius pulled his wand, softly muttering a soft episkey. Harry offered him a thankful smile before looking back at the potion. As his blood mixed it turned the potion a green before it faded back to a dark blue.

"When the potion is that color it means its finished mixing with your blood. When that happens Griphook will pour it over the enchanted parchment so than we'll be able to see your heritage among other things." Lucius explained. He watched as the black words began to appear on the parchment, hoping to get some answers to his many questions. Griphook's eyes widened slightly as he read over the parchment before he hand it to the Lord. Harry carefully stood from his chair, leaning over enough to read it over Lucius' shoulder.

"Huh...guess that letter wasn't complete crap." Lucius whispered.

"Izzy no lie to Lord Malfoy." The house elf's voice suddenly snapped, startling both Lucius and Harry. The house elf stood next to Harry's chair with her arms crossed. The teenage Gryffindor couldn't help but chuckle, reaching up to rub the back of his neck sheepishly, having forgotten she had accompanied him.

"Izzy loyal to Lady Potter. Izzy no lie." She repeated, her blue eyes fiercely locked onto his.

"Griphook can I keep a copy of this? And if that is all Harry and I will leave you to return back to other important bank matters." Lucius stated. When he received a nod he placed his hand on his son's shoulder, gently pushing him from the room. Harry couldn't help but shuffle his feet, feeling his worries start to get the better of him again.

"Lord Malfoy and Master Harry need breakfast." Izzy firmly stated. Lucius released a small chuckle before he nodded in confirmation. He knew that Narcissa and Draco wouldn't meet him for at least another hour, so he had time to actually talk to Harry. The duo silently walked back to the Leaky Cauldron, figuring that would be the best place for some privacy to talk.

"I know this is a lot to take in." Lucius stated as they sat at a table in the back corner of the pub. He raised his wand, not missing the flinch that went through his son as he weaved a privacy ward. The last time they had seen each other he had pulled his wand and had every intention of harming the boy.

"You don't have to pretend to be happy about this. Both of us can just pretend neither of us received those letters. You don't like me. Draco can't stand me..." Harry whispered, looking down at his hands.

"I'm not just going to forget. Do you know how long Narcissa, and I have been looking for you? You were taken during the night after someone managed to get through the wards surrounding Malfoy Manor." Lucius firmly stated, briefly glaring at his son. Harry flinched at the angered look on his face, taking a shaking breath as he attempted to figure out what he wanted to say.

"And honestly, your first interaction with Draco from what I heard was completely deplorable. Before you start I understand what Draco said could have come off as arrogant, but you handled the situation as a pureblood heir horribly." Lucius stated. Harry jerked his head up, staring at the man. He figured Draco would have told him about that first meeting outside of Hogwarts while they waited to be sorted but he'd never thought how he'd responded was wrong. Ron hadn't said anything about it but as he thought about it Ron probably wasn't the best person to talk to about how to respond to that situation.

"And honestly with you and Draco being twins he would have felt that pull and when you turned down his offer at friendship it would have hurt. I understand now that you were clearly not raised in the traditions and manners the way you should have been which will be rectified." The Malfoy lord continued, simply ignoring the furious look that was beginning to appear on Harry's face. He was already making plans for him, not even giving him much of a chance to speak. His magic began to cause the silverware on the table to rattle as his temper slipped, once again gaining Lucius attention.

"Harry control yourself this instant." He stated, reaching across the table to place his hand on top of his

son's. Harry only jerked away, standing up from the table, sending his chair toppling to the ground.

"Do not touch me!" Harry snapped, glaring at the man. Lucius blinked, taken aback by his son's sudden change in behavior. Until that moment the boy had seemed to be controlling the temper he was famous for in stressful situations.

"What is Potter doing here?" Draco's voice suddenly cut through the silence, causing Lucius to groan. He glanced over his shoulder watching as Draco and Narcissa walked over to their table. Harry faltered for a moment as the sight of the woman that he now knew was his mother. He could see some of the Black family in her appearance, briefly reminding him of Padfoot.

"Lucius why are you speaking with him? I thought we agreed that letter was a joke?" Narcissa hissed, keeping her voice low as she glanced around the pub. Harry couldn't help but flinch, taking another step back. Lucius didn't miss the brief look of hurt that flashed across the boy's face before he fled from the dining area back to the confines of his rented room. The Malfoy lord released a breath of air before turning to face his family.

"Narcissa...it wasn't a joke. I took him to Gringotts this morning. They did a blood test, and we have proof." He explained. Her face quickly switched from anger to disbelief, her gaze landing on Draco. The eldest Malfoy twin looked between his parents confused, figuring Potter had something to do with their secretive tones.

"Izzy disappointed in Lord Malfoy." The house elf that had accommodated them at Gringotts stated, popping into view. Her blue eyes pierced into him as she stood there with her arms crossed, glaring at the older male. Draco blinked several times at the attitude of the house elf, so used to their family house elves bowing and staying silent. Very few ever actually spoke out against anything his father ordered. Lucius didn't bother to hide the scowl that crossed his features as he looked down at her.

"Tell Harry that I will be back in a few hours to give him time to control that temper of his and to have his things ready." Lucius stated before he stood from his seat. He placed his hand in the middle of his wife's back and on Draco's shoulder, gently steering them out of the Leaky Cauldron. Harry peaked over the banister, watching his family leave, feeling his heart beating against his chest. He sucked in a deep breath before he sank to the floor, leaning his head back against the banister. Izzy popped back into view, looking down at her young master in concern. She understood that the last day had been nothing but ups and downs.

"Master Harry need eat breakfast." She stated, gesturing down to their table were his food still sat.

"I can't Izzy. My stomach is in so many knots right now it's not going to stay down." He managed to whisper. He pulled his knees closer to his chest, resting his cheek against them as he thought about the series of truths he'd learned at the bank. Not only was Mr. Malfoy actually his father but Ron and Hermione had been paid off by Dumbledore to be his friends. They had been faking for nearly four years, which explained why it had been so easy to turn their backs on him during their second year with everything that happened with the Chamber of Secrets.

"I'm going to...lie back down. Just let me know when he gets back." Harry whispered, pushing himself to his feet. He ignored the sad look on Izzy's face as he slipped back into the room.

Draco wandered around the alley, occasionally glancing back at his parents before wandering into any shop that caught his attention. Lucius couldn't help but frown as they walked, occasionally glancing at Narcissa. His wife had been silent, her expression blank, giving him no hints on just what it was she was feeling about the truth they'd discovered.

"I would think this morning would have been something you would have told me about before going to Gringotts. Since I doubt it was a spur of the moment thing and you didn't plan to meet with him." She finally stated, leveling her husband with a glare for a moment when she was sure no one was looking. Lucius released a deep breath, reaching up to brush his blonde hair out of his face.

"My dear, you didn't want to hear anything else about that letter in my office. But I wanted to know the truth. I was going to tell you as soon as you arrived with Draco but while we were talking Harry got angry. I was trying to calm him down when you both appeared." He explained, glancing over as Draco stopped in front of the quidditch shop. Narcissa frowned for a moment before she shook her head.

"His temper is something that we're going to have to work on. We can't have him acting like anything less than the pureblood heir he is." She breathed, running through a list of lessons he would have to attend before Hogwarts started back.

"With the tournament going on at Hogwarts this year it wouldn't hurt to also have him attend a few dancing lessons for the Champions Ball." He suggested.

"Yes and Draco could use a refreshers course." She agreed.

"Refresher course on what?" Draco questioned, walking back over to stand at his parents' side.

"Dancing lessons. It's been a while since you had any so we figured a refresher would be a promising idea." Narcissa stated. She glanced up at Lucius, hoping he wouldn't say anything about Harry until they were in the privacy of their home.

"He's going to find out Narcissa." Lucius stated, not oblivious to the look he was receiving.

"But not out here among all these other people." She stated, glancing at Draco. Diagon alley was starting to get crowded with students and their parents getting an early start on supplies shopping.

"Draco lets get the things we need than get home. There are some...recent developments that we need to speak with you about." Narcissa stated. Draco frowned confused before nodding, venturing over to the bookstore.

Harry was curled up on the bed, flipping through his defense book from the previous school year. He glanced up when there was a knock on the door, glancing at Izzy. The house elf had been digging through and sorting his trunk even though he'd told her she didn't need to. She walked over to the door, opening it just enough to see who was on the other side.

"Lord Malfoy sir. Comes in." she stated, opening the door wider. He frowned sitting up on the bed to look at his father. He closed his book, sitting it in his lap. He pulled his wand from his cane, levitating the trunk over to him, shrinking it before slipping it into his robe pocket.

"Come on. We're headed back to the Manor." Lucius stated, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"I'm fine staying right here." He stated, frowning at the thought of having to live with the one Slytherin that always seemed to know how to push all of his buttons.

"H0arry you have to understand you and Draco are brothers, you're twins. He's going to learn the truth and right now you don't have anyone else in your corner." Lucius stated. Harry flinched back at his words like he'd been slapped.

"Now come on. Narcissa and Draco are waiting for you at home." He sighed, holding out his arm to apparate them.
