Tommy watched proudly, tearing up, as his husband accepted his promotion. He clapped excitedly as he waited for his turn to stand up with Evan. "Captain Evan Kinard!" the chief called.
Tommy walked up to Evan and with the help of their daughter, pinned the badge on his uniform. "I'm so proud of you, Captain Kinard."
Evan beamed at him, resisting the urge to kiss Tommy. "Thank you," he murmured.
They briefly hugged before separating so the chief could move on to the next person accepting their promotion.
Evan was going to lead his own firehouse, something he hadn't quite expected when he joined the LAFD all those years ago. He was absolutely meant to do this, however.
