On the night of Sunday, September 28th, 1997, Luna changed the time and date on her coin to "Sunday, September 28th, 1997 at 10 P.M. Hogwarts time.
Luna met up with Neville and Ginny in the Room of Requirement on September 28th, 1997 at 10 P.M. Hogwarts time and they once again used the black office chairs for seats.
"So," said Luna quietly, "I've decided that before we even think about what to learn or practice, we need to focus first on who we will allow to be part of our group. Have you two been thinking about who we can allow to be part of the reformed D.A. ?"
"I think a good start would be to include all the D.A. members from last time who haven't yet graduated, excluding Marietta Edgecombe and Cho Chang, " suggested Neville.
"The traitor and her crybaby crying machine friend aren't rejoining us, " said Luna in a crisp and decisive voice, "But, who else from last time is still at Hogwarts?"
"Zacharias Smith, Ernie MacMillan, Hannah Abbott and Susan Bones from Hufflepuff, Padma Patil, Michael Corner, Anthony Goldstein, and Terry Boot from Ravenclaw, and Seamus Finnigan, Parvati Patil, and Lavender Brown from Gryffindor," answered Neville.
"I don't want Zacharias rejoining us," piped up Ginny, "He was an asshole to everyone last time we did the D.A. and he was an asshole to numerous Gryffindors, including Harry, Hermione, and myself last year. I also don't trust him. My gut feeling is that he is a coward who would flee rather than fight."
"I see where you're coming from, Ginny," said Luna in understanding, "I will not invite Zacharias to join the reformed D.A. Do we agree to approve all the others?"
"Yes," chorused Neville and Ginny.
"I think," said Luna thoughtfully, "That we are going to be facing a final and major battle against Voldemort within the next year and my heart and brain both tell me that this battle will take place at Hogwarts on May 2nd, 1998. When said battle comes, I think we can count on former D.A. members who are no longer at Hogwarts because of either graduation or the muggleborn ban to come back and fight for us. "
"I agree, " said Ginny confidently, "Fred, George, Lee, Dean, Justin, Colin, Dennis, Angelina, Alicia, Katie, and of course Harry and Hermione will help us in the end. I could even see Oliver Wood coming in and helping us."
"I think that's the way go at the start, " said Luna calmly, "Start with the people from the last time we did the D.A. who are still at Hogwarts. We can keep our eyes and ears open for potential new members."
"I'd like to nominate Jimmy Peakes, Richie Coote, and Demelza Robins as potential new D.A. members," suggested Ginny.
"I don't see why they can't join," said Luna matter of factly, "They seem to be decent people and having been their teammate for a whole year last year means you've gotten to know them a bit. I'll definitely accept them."
"At some point," said Neville, "We're going to have to discuss how to recruit new members, "But I'd like to suggest Sally Anne Perks of Hufflepuff. She's very shy, but she's always been towards the top of my year in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Not on Harry's level, but possibly second best of the year. She's a loner who doesn't feel the need to be part of friend groups, but I think she could be a valuable person to have in the fold if we could convince her to join."
"She was probably only not invited last time because Hermione, who did the initial recruiting for the D.A. didn't know much about her because of her being so quiet, reserved, and to herself, " reasoned Luna, "if she's that good at Defense Against the Dark Arts, we need to try our best to convince her to join the cause."
"Is that all for now?" asked Luna.
"I think so," replied Neville and Ginny together.
There was a minute and a nanosecond of quiet and then Luna said, "Let's meet up again tomorrow night to discuss the early things we'll teach the D.A. once it is reformed. I won't change my coin for this meeting. We'll just reconvine tomorrow night. Same time and same place."
Neville and Ginny nodded.
