This chapter is similar to the previous one and covers Cho not being accepted back.

Luna Lovegood was sitting on a sofa in the Ravenclaw Common Room reading the latest edition of the Quibbler when she felt a gentle tap on her left shoulder.

Luna looked up and saw that it was Cho Chang.

Luna did not like Cho due to the combination of her being a crybaby crying machine and that fact that she had defended Marietta Edgecombe after Marietta had betrayed the D.A. Luna could not see eye to eye with anyone who dubbed Marietta as a "Lovely person who made a mistake," as Marietta had clearly been a traitor and Cho had clearly underappreciated the stakes.

Cho hadn't seemed to understand that if they hadn't been lucky enough to get away, Marietta 's betrayal could have to all of them getting them being expelled and having their wands snapped, both of which could create any number of hardships.

Nevertheless, Luna hated being rude, so she said, "Hi, Cho, may I help you?"

"Yes," said Cho hopefully, "I've heard it through the grapevine in the Ravenclaw Common Room that the D.A. has been reformed and that you are one of its leaders."

Luna felt her heart sink to her feet. She knew she could not give Cho any information about the newly reformed D.A. and that if she had to be rude to get rid of Cho, she'd have to do it.

Cho continued, "I would like to be a part of the reformed D.A."

"That is not an option, " said Luna bluntly, "The leaders of the newly reformed D.A. are all in complete agreement that we cannot invite you to be a part of it because we cannot trust you."

Cho scowled at Luna.

"And what have I ever done to deserve to not be trusted?" asked Cho bitterly.

"Defending the filthy stinking turncoat who betrayed us last time," said Luna firmly, "Anybody who defends Marietta Edgecombe is not trustworthy."

"She's a lovely person really," insisted Cho, "She just made a mistake. Things were really hard for her-"

"Therein lies my point," declared Luna in a no nonsense voice, "If you are going to defend a traitor, then we cannot trust that you will not become one yourself. If you are going to defend Marietta because things were hard for her, how can we trust you to stay loyal to us if things get hard for you? The answer is that we can't."

Cho glared at Luna and Luna held her ground.

"Trust is very important in an organization like the D.A.," said Luna clearly, "And we can't trust someone who has defended a traitor not to become a traitor. We can't take any chances here. You are also partially responsible for Marietta 's betrayal."

"How?" demanded Cho in an angry voice.

"By dragging Marietta into the D.A. when you knew she didn't want to go," explained Luna sharply, "A person who doesn't want to be a part of a group is always the most likely person to betray that group. By bringing Marietta into the D.A. when you knew she didn't want to be a part of it, you introduced someone into the group who wasn't invested in it. Of course, Marietta would be the one to betray us."

"But I am NOT Marietta," said Cho desperately.

"The way you have defended her since her betrayal leaves us no option but to not trust you," said Luna firmly, "We need people who are 1000% committed to the cause and someone who defends a traitor is not 1000% committed to the cause."

"If Cedric had lived, he would have joined the D.A. both last time and this time and he'd vouch for me now," said Cho softly.

"Only one for two," piped up Luna, "He would have joined the D.A. both times. But he would NOT have vouched for you. Had Cedric lived, he would have broken up with you over your defense of Marietta and her betrayal and he would not have even kept you as a friend. Cedric had this thing called integrity. He would not have stood for betrayal or defense of betrayal."

"You're not going to change your mind, are you, Lovegood?" realized Cho.

"I'm afraid I can't," declared Luna, "I don't like being rude or snobbish, but I have to put my foot down on this,"

Cho turned to go away.

Luna did not take any pride or pleasure in saying no to Cho, but she knew had to do what was in the best interest of the newly reformed D.A.

And that meant saying no to Cho.

That dealt with, Luna resumed her reading of the Quibbler.
