The next morning, Lily woke up feeling alive, awake, and refreshed after getting an excellent night of sleep in her very comfortable new bed.
Looking around, Lily saw that she was in the Room of Requirement.
"Room of Requirement?" asked Lily, "I'm hungry, can you give me some food?"
Nothing happened.
"I suppose that is one of the limitations of this room, it can't make food," sighed Lily.
Next nanosecond, Lily heard the door open and close again and heard Sally's voice call out.
"The Room of Requirement cannot make food. That is indeed one of its limitations," said Sally matter of factly, "However, I remembered that you are still up here, and I have brought you some breakfast. While food cannot be conjured, it can be multiplied if you already have some. I performed Multiplying Spells on my own breakfast and have brought you the food that was creating via this multiplying."
Sally walked up to where Lily was standing with a kind smile and a warm look on her face, carrying her yellow and black checkerboard schoolbag in her right hand.
"You are sweet and kind, Sally Anne Perks," said Lily in a very grateful voice, "I really appreciate your thoughtfulness here. I assume the food you have brought is in that beautiful and unique school bag of yours?"
"It is," beamed Sally, "And thank you for the compliment about my school bag. I am very proud of being a Hufflepuff."
Sally opened her school bag and retrieved a clear Ziplock bag and a bottle of fruit punch.
The clear Ziplock bag contained two pancakes and two sausage patties.
"I didn't know what you would like, so I just doubled my own breakfast with the hope that it would work out," explained Sally, "It's too bad I didn't ask you last night what you like to eat."
"I'm totally happy with pancakes and sausage for breakfast," smiled Lily, "I'm not fond of eggs but other than that, I like all breakfast foods. Pancakes, waffles, French toast, bagels, biscuits, sausage, bacon, and ham are all fine by me, including in burrito form."
"I'm glad this is going to work out," said Sally happily, "What about the drink?"
"Fruit punch is fine," said Lily indifferently, "Orange juice or apple juice would have been fine as well."
"Lily," said Sally kindly, "I will make it my responsibility to make sure that you are fed three meals a day while you fulfill our role as Room Guardian. "
"I'd like to sit down while I eat," declared Lily.
Next nanosecond, a table, chair, plate, knife, and fork all appeared.
The table and chair were pretty generic black tables and chairs, and the knife and fork were generic silverware.
However, to Lily's delight, the plate was green with patterns of silver snakes on it.
"How fitting," grinned Lily, "A Slytherin plate!"
Sally handed Lily the bag with the food in it and Lily happily put the food on her plate and set the bottle of fruit punch down on her right and set herself up to eat.
Sally asked Lily, "Do you have any preferences for lunch and dinner?"
"I'm pretty non picky," said Lily truthfully, "Chicken, hamburgers, steak, turkey, ham, cold cuts, fries, hash browns, tater tots, mashed potatoes, bread, breadsticks, rolls, biscuits, corn, green beans, carrots, coleslaw, rice, mustard, ketchup, and hot sauce are all good choices. I hate cheese though. Not only because of the taste, but because the smell of cheese literally makes me gag. To drink, I like Coca Cola Classic, Sprite, and lemonade. Fruit punch could also be a lunch or dinner drink me, but I would prefer to only be given orange juice or apple juice in the morning. Fruit punch was a completely fine choice this morning, but going forward, I'd prefer apple juice or orange juice at breakfast."
"What about dessert?" inquired Sally.
"PUDDING IS THE GOAT DESSERT BY FAR!" exclaimed Lily.
"Luna loves pudding too," smiled Sally.
"But I won't say no to brownies, apple pie, pumpkin pie, ice cream, most kinds of cake, especially chocolate, lemon, and orange, and Jello," finished Lily, "My favorite snacks are pretzels and potato chips, and I'll happily eat most candies."
"Lily," Sally told her fiercely, "I will stop by every day after breakfast, lunch, and dinner to bring you food. I'll usually just drop it off and leave again but I don't care about being late for class this morning because my first class is History of Magic."
Lily cut up her pancakes and sausage patties with her knife and opened her fruit punch bottle.
After eating her first bite of sausage, Lily declared, "There's a better chance of walking from Los Angeles to Boston and back in ten minutes or less than there is of Professor Binns noticing if a student is tardy or absent."
"Exactly," smirked Sally, "He doesn't even know our names!"
Lily now took her first bite of pancake and followed that with her first swig of fruit punch.
"How are you liking your breakfast, Lily?" asked Sally warmly.
"It's delicious," said Lily glowingly, "Hot, fresh, and flavorful. The coolness of the fruit punch is a nice contrast too."
"I'm glad to hear that, Lily," smiled Sally, "Did you get a good night of sleep last night?"
"Yes," said Lily in a delighted voice, "It was the best night of sleep I've ever gotten. I feel completely reset and refreshed this morning."
"Outstanding," cooed Sally, "Having to live in the Room of Requirement for over half a year isn't ideal, but hopefully this experience will be as comfortable as it possibly can be for you."
"You are sweet and kind, Sally Anne Perks," said Lily for the second time since Sally had entered the room, "Sally, thank you. Thank you for looking after me and taking care of me. When all this is over, I will always remember the kindness and compassion Sally Anne Perks showed me."
"When we were starting breakfast this morning," explained Sally, "I remembered from last night that you are up here and will be confined to this room for a while. I also remembered that food cannot be conjured and that this room cannot produce food, despite its vast capabilities. I therefore took it upon myself to take responsibility for making sure you get fed."
Lily gave Sally a thumbs up.
Lily now stopped talking and finished her breakfast, which was outstanding.
When she had finished, Lily got up and gave Sally a hug.
"You are sweet and kind, Sally Anne Perks," declared Lily for a third time.
