"Naruto, thank you for joining us. Would you please take a seat?" asked Homura. Naruto nodded and took a seat where the Hatake clan was reserved, though he nor Kakashi actually attended council meetings. They were just a bunch of old people complaining about things that they themselves wouldn't fix. Danzo decided to speak up.
"It has come to our attention that after defeating Suna's jinchuriki, you proceeded to release him even after your captain ordered you not to" he said. Naruto frowned. "I'm sure as all of you know, Suna was tricked into the invasion by Orochimaru, so I believed that me releasing Gaara was only fair to them" he replied.
"You went against protocol Hatake. We were also informed that you've had talks with the Kazekage's daughter. Would you like to enlighten us on that?" Koharu asked. Naruto snorted. "As far as I'm concerned, I was just doing my mission. We are shinobi, we are to use every tool at our disposal to gain the advantage. And as for scolding me for being in talks with Temari, if I hadn't done so, the village would've been destroyed."
"Your attitude towards authority is not pleasant. Hiruzen was a fool to give you so much freedom. He should've given you to me instead of the Sannin" Danzo said. "I suggest you watch your tone Danzo" Naruto warned.
"You have no authority here. We are the council and you will obey us!"
Naruto slowly started to release his killer intent and many people started to sweat. "Naruto calm down" came the voice of Jiraiya. Everyone turned to the window where the Sannin appeared in. The feeling of dread slowly faded away. "Jiraiya Sama, have to came to a decision?" asked Homura.
"In fact I have. I will not be taking up the position" he said. Danzo smirked at this. He was one step closer to his goal. "But I have found a suitable candidate. We just have to go retrieve her" he said. "We? Who are you referring to when you say we?" asked Naruto. Jiraiya smirked at him which caused Naruto to sigh.
"Meet me at the north gate in about an hour" he said as he vanished in a poof of smoke. Naruto then turned back to the council in a calm manner. "Elders, watch yourselves." "Is that a threat boy?" Danzo asked. Naruto shrugged. "Take it how you want it. I tried to be civil and that obviously didn't work" he said as he started to disperse in fathers.
Once he was gone, the room was filled with silence. "Was it wise to anger the only person that was keeping this village standing?" Tsume said. "He needs to learn his place. He is no longer protected by Hiruzen or Kakashi. He can't just disobey orders" Homura stated.
"Hiashi, you know the boy better than all of us in here. What is your opinion on him?" asked Shikaku. The man didn't answer the question immediately. He seemed to be deep in thought. "Even I don't truly know who he is. My daughter and my other nephew know him more. So if you want more information on him, I suggest you ask them because Kakashi is out of question" he said.
They accepted that answer and ended the meeting shortly after. The elders were the only people left in the room. "The jinchuriki is no longer under Hiruzen's thumb. Besides the times where Orochimaru and Jiraiya trained him, there has been no other instances where he used that chakra. The village was just invaded and we need to show the other villages that we still have strength" said Danzo.
"Then what do you suggest we do? We can't just force him to use the chakra. That will do more harm to us, than good. Besides, he and Jiraiya are going to retrieve Tsunade. You know she won't just lay down like Hiruzen did" Koharu said. "Leave him to me. The moment he gets out of line again, he will be dealt with. You two just need to focus on maintaining your positions in the council" he said.
Naruto and Jiraiya were walking through the land of fire with no clear destination in mind. Tsunade was never one to settle down in one spot. The woman was a mystery to the young Hatake. He's heard of her and the legend surrounding her name curtesy of her teammates but he never actually met her.
But contrary to popular belief, she was the only Sannin he didn't dislike. It was quite the opposite actually. He sympathized with her and the reason she left the village. She gave everything to the village for 20 plus years. Lost her entire family to war and just couldn't take it anymore.
The Senju clan as a whole was a different story but she was okay in his book. He turned to his former sensei with an annoyed expression. "Why did you need to bring me on your hunt for Tsunade?"
"Well, seeing as you have major heat on you, I thought it would be smart to keep you away from the village for a while" he said. "And what makes you think i can't handle myself?" Naruto asked. Jiraiya stopped walking and sighed. "For all the brains and God given talent you have, you sure are stupid" he said. Naruto stopped too and looked back with narrowed eyes. "And what do you mean by that?"
"Kid, can't you read a room? Don't you see how much shit you're in because of the stunt you pulled? What happened to the cold hearted killer that was in anbu? What happened to Ghost? He wouldn't have let the jinchuriki go."
"What gives you the right to say that about me!? You don't know me, you never did. You only trained me because of the third hokage. If it wasn't for this damn fox, you could care less if I died."
"If you think that's the case, then why was I the one who looked after you when your brother was on his killing spree in anbu? When he was too busy going through his inner turmoil to take care of you. How about when your own clan disowned you? Or, what about Orochimaru? I never left you alone with him because I knew that he would try to perform tests on you. Your ego has gone through the roof Naruto. That chip on your shoulder that you walk around with is only weighing you down.
Not everyone in this world is against you. I admit that I payed extra attention to you because of the beast but I also looked after you because you are the son of my friend. I saw what happened to him when he thought the whole world was against him. I saw what happened when your brother didn't have any more support while he was suffering. I regret not being able to help them when they needed it.
But I'll be damned if I screw up a third time. So you can bitch and moan about how you had to fight against the odds or how everyone has it out for you but nobody is going to care in the end. That's the shinobi life for you boy."
Naruto remained silent for a few moments before turning around so that his back could face Jiraiya. "We need to find your teammate so we can get back to the village" he said. As they continued to walk, they failed to notice something protruding out from a tree not far away. "Do you think Kisame will be able to handle these two?" The white half asked. "He will only have to face the jinchuriki, the Sannin will be easy to distract" the black half said.
Back in Konoha, all of the rookies gathered up to eat at Chouji's family's barbecue restaurant. Team 9 was also there. They were talking about the invasion and everything that happened there. "I heard that the Ichibi was released outside of the village" Ino said. "Yeah, I saw it from where I was in the village. It was gigantic" Tenten said. "Lord third was trapped in the barrier along with Orochimaru, all of our jounin sensei's were helping in the arena so I don't know who it could've been but whoever it was, they were obviously strong" said Shikamaru. "It was Naruto" Sasuke said begrudgingly.
"You mean that Hyuga guy who got banished from his clan?" Kiba asked. Neji gave the dog boy a look that surprised everyone there aside from Hinata. "W-what?" he asked. But before Neji could reply, Hinata did. "You'll have to excuse him Kiba, he and Naruto are really close" she said.
"You know Kakashi sensei's brother?" Sakura asked Neji. "I do. What of it?" he asked. "I met him before the invasion and before that, Kakashi sensei never mentioned him. I was wondering why he was never seen in the public?" she asked. "Well for one he's an Anbu member, so his identity was naturally supposed to be a secret until he resigned. But his story is something that I'm not at liberty to tell.
She nodded in disappointment. "I heard that he's the strongest anbu in the village currently" Shino said. "He is" Sasuke said. They all looked at him in surprise. "But isn't your brother an anbu as well?" Chouji asked. "Yeah, he is. He's even on the same team as Naruto but even I know that Naruto is in a different league" he said.
"Yosh! Naruto's flames of youth seem to burn brightly. I aspire to reach such youthfulness" Lee said. Neji stood up and began to leave. "Hey Neji, where are you going?" Tenten asked. "I need to go clear my head. I bid you all farewell" he said. Hinata sighed and followed him after saying goodbye to everyone.
"What's the matter Neji?" she asked after catching up to him. "It's nothing" he said, trying to brush off the question. "Please don't lie to me" she said. He sighed, "go ask your father. I'm sure he'll tell you" he said.
A while later Hiashi could be seen in his study going over some documents with Hanabi. "Father, is it really necessary for me to study all of these laws right now?" she asked. He nodded firmly. "It's come to me and the elders attention that you are a more suitable heir than Hinata. So you'll need to study all you can to prepare yourself to be the future of the clan" he said. The 7 year old bit her lip with uncertainty.
She felt like this was wrong. But she couldn't disobey her father. A knock was heard at the door and Hiashi knew who it was. "Come in" he said. In walked Hinata with an unreadable expression on her face. She saw Hanabi and gave her sister a small smile and a hug in which the younger girl returned. "Hanabi if you'll excuse us, there's something I'd like to discuss with father" she said. She looked at her father for approval and he nodded as she left.
"How may I help you Hinata?" "Father, what did you do to Neji?" she asked. He raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" he asked. "He was acting different earlier and was even showing more aggression than usual. He told me to ask you." "You mean me telling him the truth." "Truth about what?" she asked.
"About your aunt. You see, long ago before Naruto was born, your aunt was apart of the side branch along with Hizashi. While Hizashi was obedient and was a noble man, Mikasa disobeyed the laws of the clan and was quite defiant." Hinata looked confused. She had an aunt? "Father the way you are wording this brings me to believe that this Mikasa woman was Naruto's mother" she said.
He nodded slowly. "Indeed she was. My little sister was never one to follow Hyuga tradition. Which was how Naruto got here" he said. "Mother always told me that Naruto was a distant relative, which was why he was called our cousin but for him to be directly related to us and you banishing him from the clan is horrible!" she said. "I did what I had to do. When he was born, he was required to receive the caged bird seal like the rest of the side branch members but his mother didn't want that.
And after we tried to tell her that it was to protect the dojutsu from falling into the eyes of another village, she still didn't budge. So the only way we could come to an agreement is if he was to be banished from the clan."
"And what happened to her?" she asked. "Before I tell you this, you must swear that you won't discuss this with anyone. Do I make myself clear?" She nodded a bit hesitantly. "I need to hear you say it!" he said a bit harshly. "I swear" she said shakily. "Very well. Shortly after giving birth, Naruto was dropped off at Kakashi's house and Mikasa went missing. After days of searching, she was found on the border of The Land of Lightning."
Hinata gasped. "Father you mean-" "Yes in an attempt you gain the byakugan, Kumo kidnapped her and once they found out that they couldn't use her eyes, they through her away like she was some trash" he said with tears threatening to fall. Hinata was trembling. Kumo was responsible for everything that went wrong with her clan. They tried to kidnap her when she was a child, which resulted in her uncle's demise. And then come to find out that they tried the same thing with her aunt and she ended up dying to!
Her fists clenched and she finally understood why Neji was in a foul mood. How did Naruto feel? She would ask him about it but she swore that she wouldn't discuss it with anyone. After a moment of processing the information, she bowed to her father and left the room but not before noticing the documents on the table that he was discussing with Hanabi.
After some time, Naruto and Jiraiya made it to a small town in the land of fire and wanted to get something to eat. Upon walking into the bar, Jiraiya immediately spotted a familiar mop of blonde hair. "Tsunade!" he screamed. She looked up from her drunken state and saw her perverted teammate. "Jiraiya? What the hell are you doing here?" she asked slurring her words. "Oh you know, just traveling with my new apprentice." "I'm not your apprentice" came the voice of Naruto.
She looked at the person in front of her and said the first thing that came to her mind. "Sakumo?" Jiraiya grimaced at that. "Lady Tsunade, that's not Sakumo. He's much younger and look at his eyes. He's clearly a Hyuga" said the voice of a brunette next to her. At this, Naruto cringed. "Actually I'm neither Sakumo or a Hyuga" he said. Tsunade laughed. "Kid you can't fool me, I'm from Konoha and I've probably seen more Hyuga than you have."
Naruto started to get slightly irritated. "Actually Hime, he's not lying. He's technically not a Hyuga but he is the son of Sakumo" Jiraiya said. At this she stopped laughing and took a look at the man again before looking back at Jiraiya. "So I continue to run into people from my past huh" she muttered. "What do you mean by that?" he said. "Nothing you old perv, if food is all you came for, I think me and Shizune should get going."
"Actually I'd like to talk to you about something" he said. "And what would that be?" she asked suspiciously. "I'm sure that you've heard about sensei." She nodded. "Yeah, the old monkey finally kicked the bucket" she said. Jiraiya frowned. "He's still your sensei as well. Aren't you upset? Orochimaru was the one to killed him" he said. "I haven't been in that village in about 20 years. Why should I care about what goes on within those walls?"
Jiraiya was about to respond when Naruto put a hand on his shoulder. "What would your grandfather and you uncle think of what you've become?" he asked. Tsunade narrowed her eyes at Naruto. "Listen here. I don't care if you'rere Sakumo's son or not, you don't know me so I suggest you shut up and stay out of this."
He chuckled. "Well contrary to what you think, I do know you. I may not have met you in person prior to this but I know your story. The princess of Konoha, granddaughter of Hashirama Senju. Great niece of Tobirama Senju. Student of Hiruzen Sarutobi and one of the three legendary Sanin. There's a longer list of things I know but that's not the point" he said. "So what are you a fan or something?" she asked moking him.
"No but you are the only Sanin I don't dislike and that is slowly starting to fade" he said. "Hey, I'm quite hurt by that" Jiraiya said. Naruto rolled his eyes. And it's funny that you mentioned running into people from your past because I could've sworn I sensed snakes when we first got here."
At this everyone got tense. "Did you run into Orochimaru?" asked Jiraiya. "And what if I did?" "What did he say to you?" he asked. "Nothing that concerns you" she said. "You do know he killed your sensei right?" Naruto asked sarcastically. "Why should I care!?" "Because you're in line to be the next hokage woman!" he said. She looked at him in surprise and then at Jiraiya. "No way in hell I'm taking that job" she said defiantly.
Jiraiya sighed. "Naruto, just go outside and find another restauran and take Shizune too. I need to talk to Tsunade about a few things" he said. Naruto just got up and left as Shizune followed him with the plug in her arms. As soon as they left, Jiraiya put up a noise suppression seal and eyed the big breasted woman in front of him with a serious expression. "We need to talk."
Outside, Naruto was just walking with his hands behind his back as he took in his surroundings. Shizune was next to him but kept her head down with a small bush on her cheeks. "You okay?" he asked. She jumped in surprise at the question but answered. "Yes, it's just that I don't usually go out to eat with strangers." Naruto gave a small chuckle at that. "Neither do I but we try something new everyday. Besides, we're both technically disciples of Sanin."
"What do you mean technically? Are you not a student of Jiraiya-Sama?" she asked quizzically. "Actually I'm a student of both the pervert and the snake" he said. Her mouth gaped in shock. "B-but how? To receive training from both of them meant you had to be important!" she said. "Well I guess you could say that" he said scratching his chin. "Well now, you mentioning that you sensed snakes doesn't seem so surprising" she said. He nodded. "I could never forget that vile chakra" he said.
She noticed that he was leading her towards the entrance of the village, so she voiced her concern. "Hey Naruto, where are we going?" "Just follow me. Don't make any sudden movements. Just act normal and play along" he whispered. She was confused and a bit worried but did as he said nonetheless. Then as soon as they stepped foot out of the town, Naruto pushed Shizune as he unsheathed his sword to block a sword strike from someone.
"Kami, not now of all times" he thought. That's because in front of him stood Kisame Hoshigaki, who was smirking. "It seems you knew I was following you considering you led me out of the town" he said. "Why are you here?" Naruto asked, ignoring the man's previous comment. He noticed that he had on a black cloak with red clouds. Kisame chuckled and began to apply more force to his sword which Naruto thought was weird looking. He felt his chakra being drained and noticed the sword getting larger.
He activated his byakugan and saw the sword absorbing his chakra and then he looked at Kisame and saw what seemed to be an endless amount of it. He then saw Shizune preparing to throw needles at the man. "Shizune stay out of this" was all he said. He then dispersed into feathers as he reappeared a few meters away from Kisame. In terms of skills, Kisame had him beat in kenjutsu but that was the only thing he had over on him.
He knew Jiraiya and Tsunade were no doubt on their way. Their chakra was too potent to not notice. Which was why he decided to not waste his on the fight. He'd just coast it to see what the shark man's motives were. Kisame went through seals and spewed out a massive water dragon which Naruto mirrored immediately. The two attacks collided and caused a small tremor. Naruto was upon the man in seconds and was trying to slash the man with lightning quick sword strikes.
Kisame was doing a great job at dodging and blocking the attacks as he was the more experienced swordsman but he was no where near as fast as the silver haired teen so he was getting cut here and there. He blocked one last strike from the teen before kicking him away. Naruto flipped and landed on his feet but had to subconsciously put up a mud wall as water bullets nearly pierced him. He then jumped out of the way as the man came crashing down on him with the sword which was now purple with giant spikes.
He had to admit, even though they weren't in a full out battle, Kisame was still making him think. Which was why he nearly slapped himself when he realized something. He allowed Kisame too flood the battlefield in water. "You're in my element now Hatake. Take your best shot" he said chuckling. Naruto started to chuckle as well which confused the shark man until he felt the surge of chakra. "Crap" he said. But it was too late as he got electrocuted. The lighting was coursing through the water but it was only affecting Kisame.
The giant sword quickly absorbed all of the lightning chakra but Naruto didn't care. As not even a second later, Jiraiya and Tsunade appeared. "Ah the Sanin, it's a pleasure to meet you" he said panting. "Naruto, why are you fighting Kisame Hoshigaki?" asked Jiraiya. Naruto looked at him with an irritated expression. "He attacked me! Why don't you ask him" he exclaimed.
The shark man grinned and stood up. "As fun as fighting all three of you would be, I think my job here is done" he said. "Oh no you don't" said Jiraiya, as he tried to run after the man but he disappeared in a water sunshin. Turning back to Naruto who didn't even look gassed, he saw Tsunade checking on Shizune who looked to be alright as well.
"So spymaster, you mind telling me why an S ranked criminal would randomly attack me after knowing he was trailing us for the last few days?" Naruto asked. Jiraiya for his part kept a serious expression. "Do you know of the akatski?"
In Suna, Temari and Kankuro were sitting in the kitchen at the Kazekage mansion. Things in the village was tense because even though they were manipulated into attacking Konoha, the leaf was known for retaliating against their enemies. But they had internal issues as well. They needed a new Kazekage and nobody was chosen to be their father's successor. Gaara was a potential candidate, as he was the strongest ninja in the village but some people didn't view him in a positive light. Although that was starting to change.
"Do you think Gaara is going to become Kazekage?" asked Temari. Kankuro looked at his older sister and thought over the question. "I mean there's a good chance he will but the village still hates him for what he did" he said. "You know it's not his fault. People tried to kill him constantly and that beast messed with his mind" she said. "Relax, relax I'm on your side" he said putting his hands up. "We know what happened to him but the village as a whole doesn't."
"Why does it matter? Ninja kill each other everyday. The Kazekage put numerous people to death publicly and people didn't bat an eye. But all of a sudden when someone who doesn't care what they think does it, it's a problem" she said. He shrugged. "At least he's becoming a lot nicer. It's a relief to know that we don't have to walk around on eggshells when he's here" he said.
She nodded and they perked up when they heard the sound of a familiar voice. "Kankuro, Temari" said the short redhead. "Gaara, how did it go?" Temari asked. "It went well. The council said I still have some things to work on but I'm next in line" he said. Temari smiled in delight and hugged her baby brother which caused him to tense up because he still wasn't use to the contact. And she noticed but was relieved when he slowly hugged her back. Kankuro smiled at the moment but just had to make a snide remark.
"How come you never show me this kind of affection when I accomplish something?" Kankuro asked "Because you never accomplished anything" she said. "I accomplished surviving a bat shit crazy sister" he mumbled but quickly froze when he realized he said it out loud. "Temari, I would like to speak to you once you're finished with him" Gaara said. She nodded sweetly as she turned to the now pale puppet user.
His screams were heard throughout the village for the next hour. Once she was done, she made it up to Gaara's door and knocked. Once she was let in, she took in the room and it was unsurprisingly plain. Just a bed and a nightstand with a few books. She sat on his bed and turned to him. "What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" she asked. "It's about the man with the white eyes" he said. She looked at him confused before something clicking in her head.
"You mean Naruto? What about him?" she asked. "I know that you snuck off to meet him during the chunin exams." She opened her mouth to deny the claims but was silenced when he kept speaking. "I don't know him but you do and he told me that the reason he was strong was because he made a promise to you" he said. Temari sighed. It was bound to come out eventually. "Yes, we met before the invasion and we got to know each other a bit. He's a really good guy, an asshole but what he did was something I could never repay him for."
"Are you two dating?" he asked bluntly. She blushed as her eyes widened comically. "No we aren't dating! Where did you did that idea from?" He grabbed an orange book off of the nightstand and showed it to her and her eyes narrowed. "Where did you get this?" she asked. Gaara not sensing any danger towards him just spoke. "Kankuro told me that in order to become a distinguished man, I must read these books. They don't interest me a bit but people seem to like them" he said.
She made a mental note to pay Kankuro another visit. "It isn't anything like that. He's just a good friend of mine. But I have to ask you something." He looked at her and waited for her to continue. "You said that he was like you. What did you mean by that?" she asked. "I meant he housed a biju just like me" he said. Her blood ran cold for a bit. She knew that he had an abnormal amount of chakra but to find out that it was because it was a tailed beast living inside of him! Wait, he's from Konoha which means he holds that beast! her mind was racing and Gaara put his hand on her shoulder to regain her focus.
"He's not as unstable as I was. Even I can tell that. But I would like to speak to him formally once I become Kazekage" he said. She was surprised but it was also another chance for her to see him again as well so she wasn't going to complain.
Kisame made it back to the hideout with his cloak torn and singed. Upon arrival, the members took a look at Kisame and had several reactions. "What the hell happened to you?" asked Hidan. "He ran into Naruto Hatake and as you can see, it didn't end up well for him" Zetsu said. "Ha, you got your ass handed to you by a teenager" Deidara said laughing. "How about I show you just how dangerous I am" Kisame said. "Relax all of you. What information do you have on the jinchuriki?" asked Pein.
"He is strong but we weren't going all out. He can use lightning, water and earth chakra along with having great swordsman skill. He nearly matched me step for step." "We will focus on him once we gathered all of the other tailed beasts. Until then, continue your missions and stay away from the jinchuriki" he warned.
The day after Naruto woke up to someone knocking on his hotel room door. Upon opening the door, Shizune came in and was panicking. "She's gone! She took the deal!" she said. "Calm down, calm down. What happened?" he asked. After regaining her composure, she spoke. "The day we met, we ran into Orochimaru and his subordinate and he made a deal with Tsunade-Sama." "What was the deal?"
"He said that he'd being back her loved ones if she healed his arms." Naruto snorted. "You can't bring someone back to life unless..." his eyes then narrowed. "We need to go" he said. He opened the window and caught a kunai that was thrown at him. "Let me guess, she drugged you" Naruto said. "You say it as if you expected it" The Sannin said panting. "I've been around you long enough to know that you always let your guard down around that woman."
"Just help me on here so Shizune can fix me up" he said. "I doubt you'll be 100% Jiraiya-Sama" she said. "Anything is better than this" he said chuckling.
Tsunade was frozen in fear as blood was splashed across her face. Orochimaru was laughing with glee. "Even after all these years, you still have that foolish fear. I mean you're a medic for goodness sake, how could you have homophobia?"
"Lord Orochimaru it appears that we have company" Kabuto said. Orochimaru frowned as he saw the group that appeared. "The frog, the assistant and my former student. I'm not pleased to see any of you" he said. "It seems like you still can't use your arms Orochimaru" Jiraiya said. "You don't look too good yourself" the man replied with a smirk. "Kabuto, take care of Naruto" he ordered. Kabuto smirked. "I'll have you know that I'm on the same level as your older brother" he told Naruto.
Naruto with all his effort tried not to break but he couldn't help it. He broke out in laughter and they thought he lost his mind. After a few seconds, he stopped and wiped his eyes. "That right there was funny. I can sense that you have the same amount of chakra if not more than him but trust me you are nowhere near Kakashi's level" he said. Kabuto felt insulted at that and did not want to be disrespected in front of Lord Orochimaru.
But before he could reply, he blinked and coughed up blood. Looking down, he saw a deep slash going across his chest. He turned to the side saw Naruto with his arm stretched out with his sword in hand. The glasses wearing man dropped to the ground. "Crap" Orochimaru hissed and Jiraiya laughed. "Did sensei take your brain when he took your arms. You knew that he stood no chance against him."
"Can it you pervert. I need to get the hell out of here" he said. "I don't think so" was all he heard as he felt a forceful kick to the side of his head sending him sailing. "You and Shizune take care of the drunk. I'll handle the snake" Naruto said. Jiraiya was in no condition to argue and Naruto could take Orochimaru with no arms easily.
He walked over to Tsunade and took a knee alongside Shizune. "Hime, you're okay. It's just blood" he said. He heard Naruto battering the snake behind him but didn't turn around to see. "Tsunade-Sama, you have to focus. We can't run anyway anymore. The village needs you. I don't want to do this anymore" Shizune said. Still shaken in fear, she noticed Orochimaru getting sent flying into a tree. He slowly got back up and spewed hundreds of snakes from his mouth and sent them at Naruto. Her eyes widened as that sword was aiming straight for the back of Jiraiya. She pushed him out of the way as the sword stabbed her through the stomach. "Lady Tsunade!" screamed Shizune. Orochimaru hissed. "You fool, you never liked the hermit and now you risk your life for him?" She coughed up blood. "He's still my teammate, our teammate and I'll protect him whenever I can" she said.
"It matters none. You're going to die now and he'll join you and your loved one's eventually. She started to laugh which confused the snake Sannin. "You're wrong. I'm not going to die here, I have so much more to live for and so much more to protect. I will become the 5th Hokage of Konoha and I will rid it of evil and disgraceful things just like you" she said. 2 black lines appeared over her face and tailed down her body as she ripped the sword out of her stomach and the wound healed immediately.
She reared her fist back and punched Orochimaru in the face sending him sailing through multiple trees. "I know that had to hurt" Naruto said coming up from behind them. "You're okay?" asked Shizune. "Yes I am. Those snakes weren't anything serious" he said. "I was talking about Lady Tsunade" she replied blushing. Naruto sweat dropped. Jiraiya patted him on the back while laughing. "That beating you put on him and his lackey puts no doubt in my mind that he'll be back anytime soon" he said.
"Yeah whatever. Let's just head back to the village. I need more money since you don't know how to use your own" he said grumbling. "Hey Naruto, can I ask you something?" Tsunade said. "Yeah sure, go ahead."
"I can sense your chakra slowly being drained. What's wrong?" The group froze as Jiraiya looked at the teen in question. "What's she talking about?" he asked. Naruto tried to think of a lie that would sound believable. "The fox is probably siphoning off my chakra to mess with my control. It took me a while to get him to stop but it seems he's back at it" he said. "Is the seal weakening?" Jiraiya said fearing the worst. "No, it's perfectly in tact. I just had to give him a bit of control in order to regain control of my chakra" he said.
"Are you crazy!? That thing was supposed to be powerless while being sealed inside of you" the white haired man said. "If I remember correctly, you and the damn snake loosened my seal in the first place" he replied. "Guys, relax. If that's the case, then try not to lose control. I'm not sure anyone would be able to stop the kyubi from destroying the village this time" Tsunade said. "Agreed" Shizune said.
They nodded as they started to make their way back to Konoha.
Once they got back, everyone was surprised at the sight. Tsunade Senju was back in the village! They made it to the council chambers and Naruto wanted to leave but he had to stay considering he was the clan head. "Princess Tsunade welcome back to the village" Homura said. She nodded. "It's good to be back. I'm sure that you were all informed that I was chosen to become the next Hokage" she said. They all nodded, well most of them.
"We will have a meeting once I'm sworn in but until then all of you continue your duties in helping rebuild the village" she said. After everyone made their way out, sage along with the group went to the Hokage's office. Upon arrival she saw several stacks of paperwork and she turned to Jiraiya. "What the hell is that!?" she asked. He chuckled nervously. And started to make his way to the window to escape. "Why don't you use shadow clones?" Naruto groaned.
The two Sannin turned to him with different expressions. Jiraiya with relief and thankfulness. Tsunade with a big smile because the kid was a genius. She'd never have to work again! She pulled a bottle of Sake out from nowhere. "This calls for some drinks. It's time to celebrate!" she said. Jiraiya soon joined her as Naruto turned to the brunette. "Make sure they don't go overboard" he said as he vanished.
He reappeared in the private memorial grounds and was surprised when he saw that he wasn't alone. "Neji?" he questioned. The younger teen turned toward him. "You've returned" he said. "Uh yeah, what are you doing here? You normally don't visit my parents." "Lord Hiashi told me a bit more of your story" he said. "And you didn't kill him?" he responded. "What?" Neji asked. "What did he tell you?" Naruto asked.
Neji then relayed the story to Naruto and in the end even though he couldn't tell, Naruto was fuming. No he was outright incensed! How dare that bastard lie about his parents!? He's making himself look like a hero, like people should feel bad for him! That was the last straw. He'd pay Hiashi a visit real soon. He turned back to Neji and steeled his emotions.
"Yeah, Kumo killed my parents and your father. I also heard that Kiri has someone who stole the byakugan from the clan" he said. Neji narrowed his eyes but said nothing. "I'll see you later Neji" he said.
Days passed and Sasuke, Lee, Neji and Shikamaru along with their respective sensei's were all called into the Hokage office. There sat the beautiful Sannin and behind her stood Team Ro. "Genin, you were all summoned here today for your performance in the chunin exams and the invasion. Each one of you displayed great strength, courage and most importantly, the will of fire.
Sasuke Uchiha, please step forward. Said boy did and had a smirk on his face which Kakashi couldn't help but sigh at. "For your performance in your match against Neji Hyuga, displaying great skill in fire manipulation and for your efforts in defending the village from the invasion, I hereby promote you to the rank of chunin" she said handing the light green vest to him. He gave a sight bow and put his vest on and everyone in the room swore he gained a new level of arrogance.
"Shikamaru Nara" she said as the lazy teen stepped up looking sluggish. "For displaying your impressive iq and battle strategies even outsmarting some chunin, I hereby promote you to the rank of chunin" she said. Asuma had a grin on his face while looking at one of his students. Even though he was lazy as hell, he had one of the sharpest minds in the village. Up next were guys boys. "Lee for going toe to toe with a Jinchuriki and displaying your ability to open the 8 inner gates, I promote you to chunin" she said as Lee took his vest and began crying and shouting something about youth.
Neji rolled his eyes. Already being used to his antics. "Neji Hyuga, for displaying your in depth knowledge on the Hyuga Clan's techniques and defeating Sasuke Uchiha, I hereby promote you to the rank of chunin."
The boy bowed and grabbed his vest. Naruto had a small smile behind that mask. "You're all dismissed aside from Ghost and Kakashi" she said. "Anbu, report back to HQ for your next mission." "Hey won't I need to get ready too?" Naruto asked. Tsunade sighed. She didn't want to do this. "Naruto there's been some unfortunate news that I have recently come to know and your name was mentioned."
"Uh okay. What's up?" "Remove your mask" she ordered and his eyes widened in shock. "You don't mean-" "Yes Naruto, I'm sorry but you're being relieved of your anbu duties" she said. "What? Why?"
"The elders informed me of your actions during the invasion. You disobeyed your captain and jeopardized the safety of the village by releasing the unstable jinchuriki." "You're seriously not doing this right? You're going to listen to those decrepit old fossils?"
"Tenzo also informed me and many anbu in the division weren't to fond of your attitude" she said. "Tenzo huh?" he said. "Naruto whatever you're thinking, I suggest you don't do it. Not even you are above the law and I can't protect you" Kakashi said. "What makes you think I need your help? I'm not a kid anymore. I thought you of all people would know that. So what if I'm an asshole to the anbu? I have a reason to be. Just like you did when you were there.
I was there before Tenzo! I was there before Itachi and Yugao! We were Team Ro but yet you chose that experiment over me!" "Naruto it's not like that" Kakashi said. "Oh really? So please tell me what's so special about him aside from a bloodline he wasn't born with?"
"He doesn't get in trouble and isn't being accused of treason" he replied. Naruto just looked at his brother and then turned back to Tsunade and removed his mask. He placed it on her desk and spoke. "I'm not even going to ask you which elder told you this. Also don't bother giving me a jounin vest, I'm not wearing it" he said as he vanished. Kakashi sighed. "Oh he's just a little upset. Don't worry, he'll be fine once he lets off some steam. You need to worry about your team" she said. Kakashi could only nod but he couldn't shake off the bad feeling in his gut.
Neji made it back to the Hyuga compound and was immediately enveloped in a hug courtesy of Hinata and Hanabi. They congratulated him on his promotion. He tried to act indifferent but he was still fuming on the inside. The only thing that was on his mind was Kumo. That damned villiage seemed to hold the very fate of his family in their hands.
"Congratulations Neji. I know you'll do the clan proud" said a voice that none of the kids were expecting. "Father?" Hanabi and Hinata said in unison. "Yes, even as strict as I am I can see the talent that he possesses."
His daughters smiled as Neji bowed in thanks.
That night Team Ro was getting ready to exit HQ to go on their mission. "Just because Ghost is gone, doesn't mean we are weak. We lost Kakashi Senpai and we remained the most accomplished team in Konoha, i still expect nothing short of perfection" Tenzo said. Just as he turned around, he was on the receiving end of a brutal punch that sent him flying back into the living area. "What the hell?" said Cat.
They saw a blur of silver fly by them and they both thought one thing. Naruto was upon Tenzo in seconds and was repeatedly punching the man in the face. The man was still in a daze at being hit with such a forceful punch while not expecting it. Several anbu tried to remove Naruto off of Tenzo but that was to no avail. He summoned a shadow clone and the clone drew was about to draw his sword but was struck with a swift sword strike and Naruto came face to face with the red eyes of his friend. That was all he saw as he passed out.
The following morning, he woke up in a cell shackled with his chakra sealed off. He didn't bother to struggle because he knew he couldn't do anything. He wasn't really thinking when he pulled that stunt last night but he could care less. His only ambition was taken away from him by the same people he called family. He just sat back and awaited his punishment but heard the sound of his cell door opening up.
If he could use his chakra, the man in front of him would be dead right now and he knew it seeing as he was flanked by two of his guards. "Even I didn't expect you to do what you did last night" said Danzo. "Oh yeah, well it happened. You got your wish" Naruto replied. The man chuckled. "You don't realize what you've done huh boy? You attacked an Anbu captain in headquarters no less and then you tried to kill him."
Naruto didn't reply. He just looked at Danzo with a blank expression. "I told Hiruzen to hand you over to me when you were an infant. I would've trained you properly to control your emotions and you would've served well under me." "You mean served well for you. You're just as bad as I am you cripple."
"And who exactly knows about that aside from us? Hiruzen is dead and you are on the chopping block so as I see it, it doesn't matter" he said. "Why are you here?" Naruto asked. "Straight to the point huh. Well if you must know, I requested that I take you under my care to mold you into the weapon you were born to be."
"I told you to watch it" Naruto warned. Danzo chuckled. "What are you going to do about it?" he asked. Naruto had enough. He began struggling against the chains and that gave Fū the perfect opportunity to strike. He went through a singular hand seal and invaded Naruto's mind. He stopped moving as Fū replayed certain memories. Seconds later he jumped out panting a bit. "What did you discover?" Danzo ordered.
He found out a lot of interesting information and to say that he was shocked and terrified was an understatement. He needed to act now before it was too late. He unraveled the bandages on his face and Naruto came face to face with another sharingan but this one was different. "You killed Shisui didn't you?" Naruto asked bitterly. "So you're still as smart as ever but you choose to make dumb decisions? Between us four I killed him but to the village and the outside world, you did" he said smirking.
Naruto spit in Danzo's face as the man didn't even budge. The mangekyo just began spinning and that was it.
The Konoha 12 as they dubbed themselves met up a few hours later and they all had the same thought. "Did you guys hear that Kakashi sensei's brother attacked his anbu captain? asked Kiba. "I heard that he was kicked out of anbu beforehand too, maybe that's why he did it" said Ino. "But he seemed perfectly fine just a few days ago when he came to see team 7" said Sakura. Hinata had to basically drag Neji out of the compound because he remained in his room or training unless his team called him.
"What do you think is going to happen to him?" asked Tenten. "Who knows, but what he did was nothing short of treason so I doubt he'll be let off the hook that easily" said Shikamaru. "But he saved the village from being destroyed" said Chouji. "This is such a drag" The pineapple haired boy said.
