Maru and his friends attacked Bronz on his home turf. Aster and Gin took care of Bronz's lackies, but the talk about Bronz was more than just that. He could back it up with the use of his bone magic. With great piercing power, healing abilities, and capable of replicating the very bones of his body from any bone; Bronz is like a living weapon. However, Maru was able to hold his own against him. Although Maru has fought hard, Bronz simply refuses to give up because he believes the island belongs to him now and refuses to surrender it. Having enough of Maru and finally getting serious, Bronz uses a strange support magic called Reaper Bones.

"That does look rather freaky, but I'm not scared." Maru claimed.

"You will be soon enough." Bronz claimed.

"Be careful, Maru! I don't like how this looks!" Yukina called.

"What's the deal? What are all those scary bones on his body?" Sandy questioned.

"I don't know. He's never pulled something like that out before." Axel said. "Then again, no one has lasted this long against Bronz as far as I know."

"Mary, your little friend there is pretty tough." Frank said. "I still think he has what it takes to beat Bronz, but I don't know if he'll end up losing his life in the process. Bronz isn't fooling around anymore." Mary wasn't liking where this was going herself. All she can do is hope and prey that Maru gets out of this in one piece.

"Get ready. Here I come!" Bronz claimed. He held his arm and stretched out the bones of his body, but Maru jumped out of the way.

"It's just the same old tricks!" Maru said, but Bronz closed the distance between the two of them. He swung his arm and smashed it against Maru. Maru got some nasty cuts from that thanks to the bones that are protruding from Bronz's body. Bronz didn't stop there. He grabbed a hold of Maru and tossed him up in the air, gained even more height by bashing his bones against Maru.

"Maru!" Gin called.

"Those bones made his entire body a weapon before, but now they might be more of a challenge!" Aster said. Maru attempted to fight back by firing blasts of light at him, but Bronz used his bones to deflect every shot thrown at him. "I see... Those bones are good for defense too. They can weaken or block attacks while at the same time dealing some damage to his opponent. Mary needs to figure out a way to get around them." This wasn't looking good for Maru. Bronz kept the attacks going with him using the bones sticking out of his legs to shoot himself up and bashed his arm against Maru again. The attack was so strong that it smashed him right into the building, last room on the side on the top floor. After that happened, Bronz stretched out his arms and used them as grapples to pull himself in.

"Maru!" Gin called. He wanted to go in after them, but Aster grabbed a hold of him and stopped him from going. "Aster, what are you doing?" Aster kept Gin from going anywhere because he wanted to leave this to Maru.

"I sure hope Maru is okay up there." Yukina said. Then, she noticed Mary just standing there with her looking awestruck. "Mary? What's wrong now?"

'That room... It had to be that room...' Mary thought. Something about that room got to her. As for Maru, he was pulling himself together and found himself with Bronz in that room.

"I've played around with you long enough." Bronz was ready to finish Maru off, but he held off on that when he saw where they were. "Well... Fate surely has a funny way of working."

"What are you talking about?" Maru questioned.

"I'm talking about the room we're in." Bronz said. Maru looked around to see it. It had a mere bed, dresser, desk and whatever would go with that stuff. That was about it. There didn't appear to be really anything special about this little room. "This is Mary's room."

"Mary's?!" Maru said.

"That's right. This was where she stayed while she was here." Bronz said. Maru couldn't believe it. Out of all the rooms in the building, they end up in the one where he kept Mary. "This is where I kept her when she was just a little brat. When I was told she had a special kind of magic, I wanted that magic for myself. Seeing as how her life was already paid for, I couldn't kill her, but I heard her type of magic is similar to celestial magic. That means the olympians she holds will obey only her. The only choice I really had was to take the little brat with me. However, since she was still just a brat at the time, I had to make sure she could use magic. I remember it all well..."

Flashback

Bronz thought back to how Mary came to be part of his gang. When his new place was built, he kept a firm hold on Mary. He brought her to that little room and gave the simple necessities, but that was about it. That was really all he would allow Mary to have.

"This is going to be your room from now on. You'll be given all that you need, especially to help you learn your magic." Bronz said with Mary trembling and the tears wouldn't stop falling. Even when he reached out to her, Mary got really scared when all he really did was caress her face and clear away the tears. "Hey, now. There's no need to cry. A pretty little girl like you shouldn't cry. In time, you'll find it's not so bad here. Just do what you are told and nothing will happen to you...or those people back in your old home." Mary surely didn't feel better. Having that man's hand against her face with how he was looking at her just made her even more scared. "Make yourself comfortable. You're going to be here for a very long time."

After that, it didn't get much better for Mary. She hardly ever got to go outside of Bronz's place and barely got to see her brothers. He kept her in that room until she adjusted to the new position in her life. She was constantly scared while trying to make any money she could. As for her magic, Bronz helped in a way.

"Here." Bronz said with him dropping a book at Mary. The same book she attempted to take once before. "This book should help you learn your magic. You better start learning so you'll start being of use to me." Mary did what she could to survive there and had to adapt to Bronz's way. So much happened to Mary, but it was all out of fear and misery. Now, Bronz and Maru find themselves fighting in that very room.

End of Flashback

...

"She stayed here like a good girl, did what she was told, and more. Of course, she feared I kill everyone if she disobeyed." Bronz claimed as he found that amusing with Maru finding even greater disdain for him. "I swear there were times she cried herself to sleep when she was a kid. Probably crying out for that phony father of hers." Maru couldn't stand this guy. He is the sole cause of all the pain Mary had to endure. "Ha! If the guy wasn't an idiot, he would still be..." He didn't finish that as he had a chair thrown right at him. His bones prevent it from hitting his face.

"I'm not going to let that keep happening. I think I now know how to free her." Maru claimed.

"Free her? How noble, but nobility gets you killed! Just ask her fake father! If he was selfish and only thought of himself, or at the very least denied he even had children, he would still be alive and Mary wouldn't have been here! It's all his fault for be so stupid!" Bronz shouted. Maru wasn't going to listen to this anymore. That's why he took the desk and threw it as hard as he could. Bronz did deflect it and broke it apart, but Maru kept trying to trash the place. "What are you doing?!"

"This isn't a room. It's a prison cell." Maru said. "You're not keeping her here anymore, so I've got to tear this place apart!" Maru was aiming for the room itself with him trying to trash all of it. He took everything in the room and smashed it against the wall, floor, or Bronz himself. Everyone outside could hear what was going on, but worried about Maru since they couldn't see anything.

"What's going on up there?!" Sandy said.

"I don't know, but it sounds like it's something ugly." Yukina said. As for Mary, she just continued to stand there and wasn't sure what to think. That was her room that Bronz kept her and the whole place is getting trashed. It's like all the years of the dark side of her past was beginning to break apart.

"You really think you can save her like this?!" Bronz said.

"Just watch me!" Maru called. He trashed as much of the room as he could, but then he set his eyes on the rest of the building. He took his fist and smashed it right on the floor with the room beginning to break apart. Bronz can't keep Mary here if there's no room for him to keep Mary trapped in. The fact that Maru was attacking the place itself got to Bronz. Maru kept attacking the place, and Bronz was getting angry.

"Stop it!" Bronz shouted. He stretched out his bones at him, but Maru grabbed a hold of them and tried to keep them from piercing him. "This might have been her room, but this is my place! You're not destroying everything I built!"

"What's the matter?! You've been wrecking homes and tearing them apart for everyone! You don't like it when someone does the same to you?!" Maru mocked with him throwing the bones aside. "You're not a thug! You're just a spoiled child!" Maru kept at it as he tried to destroy the entire room.

"Enough! You die!" Bronz shouted in anger as he made one more attempt to kill Maru, but Maru was able to act faster. He reared his fist back and was able to slide it between Bronz's bones. He was able to smash his fist right into Maru's face and had him smash right into the floor.

"This ends now!" Maru called. He held up his fist and gathered as much power as he could for one more finishing blow. With a shining brilliant fist, Maru brought it right down and slammed it against Bronz like a mighty hammer. There was so much weight and power behind it that Bronz fell right through all the floors until he hit the bottom floor. The damage also spread through the whole building. The whole thing was coming apart.

"Everyone, get back!" Tennet shouted. "The building is breaking apart!"

"What about Maru?! He's still inside!" Sandy called. They all kept clear of the building as it broke to pieces. Mary watched with dismay. She couldn't believe the whole thing was really coming down. As for Maru's well-being, she clutched the pendent and hoped that he does make it out of there. His death would make this all meaningless to her because someone getting killed is exactly what she was trying to prevent. Once it stopped falling apart, they all were astonished by this. After years of this place representing the island's misery and suffering, basically founded upon it, it finally came apart.

"Where's Maru?" Yukina questioned.

"What happened to Bronz?" Frank questioned.

"Look! In the rubble!" Axel called as he spotted Bronz half buried in there and was completely unconscious. He wasn't moving or anything. Bronz has been completely crushed and everything of his has crumbled apart. "He's done... He... He just got beaten..." All of the islanders were amazed. They couldn't believe that Bronz was actually defeated. After suffering at his hands for years, he never thought he would see the day.

"But where's Maru?! What happened to him?!" Sandy said as he was really worried. Just then, they all heard something moving in the rubble. They all looked to the top and saw Maru was able to climb himself out of it. He stood at the top of the crumbled remains of Bronz's territory.

"It's done." Maru said. The islanders truly felt liberated. Bronz and his men were actually defeated by a set of kindhearted guild wizards.

"I can't believe it. It's been so long that I thought this day would never come." Tennet said. "At long last, we are no longer under Bronz's hold anymore. Our lives are finally free. I don't know how to thank you people, and you did it all out of the goodness of your hearts."

"Well, not exactly." Gin said. "Don't get me wrong. We were glad to help, but we had our own reason for why we did this."

"We just simply wanted to help our friend." Aster claimed with all of them having their eyes on that very friend. The one who found this the hardest to believe was Mary. She spent her life under Bronz's power, but it's finally over. Sabu was killed because of him, and she spent most of her life in brutal ways, but it's finally all over. It's all because of people she took for granted yet considered her a friend. Once Maru climbed his way down, the first one he was met with was Mary.

"Hey." Maru said. "I had a feeling you couldn't stay away. Bronz isn't going to bother you anymore. I..." Mary couldn't hold it anymore. She wrapped her arms around Maru and held her as close as she could and couldn't stop crying. After all this time, she finally has her life back. She didn't know how to thank him for this. Maru and the others were just glad that Mary won't have to hide who she is anymore, and maybe now can start letting people into her heart without fear of ever losing them. She's finally free.
