Hi everyone : ) A bit quick for an update from me, I know, but what can I say - I'm REALLY excited to get this story properly up and running : )

Now, last time I asked you guys to vote on some stuff. A massive thank you to those of you that did by the way : )

As such, the game I'll be playing my Nuzlocke on is... Fire Red!

Honestly, I didn't mind either way since there are version exclusives in both games that I like and personally wouldn't mind using : ) That isn't really up to me though ; )

But in addition to that, my starter has also been decided : )

The Pokemon that I will be using for the Kanto arc Nuzlocke is... Bulbasaur!

Again, I'm quite happy with this choice since it'll give good diversity when you consider how many of the guaranteed gift Pokemon are water types : )

I want to say a huge thanks to those of you that reviewed the last chapter, as well as those of you that favourited/followed this story. I really appreciate the support : )

Please remember that Pokemon is not mine, but my OC is, and I hope you enjoy this chapter : )

Pokemon! I Choose You! - Part 2

Nolan had to work extremely hard to control the nerves that were building in the pit of his stomach as he continued reaching out his hand in the direction of the pokeballs. It felt like a flock of Butterfree were dancing in his belly, but that wasn't exactly surprising. The boy had been eagerly awaiting this moment for almost his entire life. It was understandable that it was somewhat nerve-wracking now that it was finally upon him.

He briefly paused for a second, just taking an extra moment of deliberation.

Nolan wanted to be absolutely sure that he was making the correct choice. This was very important after all. The Pokemon he picked today was going to be his partner. He needed to pick the right one.

Icy blue eyes briefly strayed away from the standard starter pokeballs, and over to the ones with the lightning bolt symbol and the brown circle emblem. Nolan wasn't sure what types of Pokemon might be inside them. With such a large group of new trainers starting their journey that day, it was obvious that Professor Oak hadn't been able to get a secondary Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle to offer up as starters, and thus had ended up having to put forward two other options.

Nolan was admittedly very curious to see the other two candidates Professor Oak had put forward, but the boy quickly shook that curiosity away.

The blonde had literally spent months agonising over this decision. He had dedicated hours to weighing the pros and cons of each of the traditional Kanto starters. It had taken weeks for him to reach a decision he felt comfortable with.

He wouldn't back down from that now.

And so it was with renewed confidence that Nolan stepped forwards and grasped the pokeball of his choice. The boy held it up with trembling fingers, a look of intense awe painted all over his face, as he held a pokeball for the very first time ever.

He could scarcely believe it.

Nolan had dreamed of this moment for years, ever since the tender age of three, when he was old enough to grasp the concept of Pokemon training. That moment was finally here.

He had a Pokemon of his very own.

Nolan Locke was now an official Pokemon Trainer.

And it felt... amazing.

Unable to conceal a grin of utter joy and excitement, Nolan realised that it was now time for the most important part of this momentous day. Actually meeting his new partner for the very first time ever. Tossing the pokeball into the air, Nolan watched with wide, shimmering eyes as the capsule snapped open, and a beam of crimson light coalesced into the form of a small creature on the ground before him.

The creature was a Bulbasaur. Nolan's new partner.

His very first Pokemon ever.

Nolan's face split into such a wide grin that it actually hurt, but in that moment, the boy honestly couldn't care less.

The small green Pokemon at his feet let out a soft yawn and blinked its large red eyes a couple of times, before they sleepily settled on Nolan. All traces of tiredness were gone in an instant.

"Bulb?" Bulbasaur tilted its head to the side in wonder.

Beaming in delight, and having to work very hard to fight off the urge to squeal in excitement, Nolan crouched down in order to allow his new partner to better take him in.

The boy quickly remembered all the passages that he had read in his textbooks for his studies, and the advice they gave about how best a trainer could introduce themselves to a new Pokemon. It was a very important part of being a good trainer.

Cautiously extending his hand out in front of him, Nolan waited patiently for a response. He would let Bulbasaur come to him in its own time. He wanted the grass type Pokemon to feel comfortable with him after all.

Bulbasaur blinked a few times, but then slowly but surely, took a few tentative steps forward. It gave Nolan's fingers a curious sniff.

Nolan swallowed hard, nervously awaiting the Pokemon's judgement.

He prayed that Bulbasaur would find him to be of approval. The young boy wasn't sure his heart would ever be able to recover if he was rejected at this point. He hadn't even spoken a word to the Pokemon yet, but already he had come to love the grass type fiercely.

But then Bulbasaur smiled, and Nolan instantly knew that all his fears were unfounded.

The grass type looked very happy as it began to nuzzle Nolan's fingers, the Pokemon's way of greeting. Nolan had to force away his unshed tears of joy. The young boy immediately responded to the Pokemon's efforts, affectionately patting its adorable little head. Bulbasaur let out a soft, almost purring sound of contentment. If possible, Nolan's smile grew even bigger.

This had so been worth the wait.

"Hi there, little one" Nolan breathed in an awed whisper as he continued petting Bulbasaur's head, "My name is Nolan, and I'm going to be your trainer from now on".

"Bulb?" Bulbasaur looked up at him curiously.

"I promise that I'll take the very best care of you" Nolan swore to the grass type, who sensed the boy's sincerity, "And I promise to help you get as strong as you can, if you want to come on an adventure with me?"

The Pokemon didn't even pause to think about it.

"Bulb! Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur cheered excitedly, quickly nodded its approval.

The grass type then eagerly jumped up into Nolan's awaiting arms. Laughing happily, the blonde boy hugged his new partner tightly, whilst something warm and fuzzy settled in his heart. That's when he knew. He wasn't sure how... he just knew.

He and Bulbasaur were going to be the very best of friends.

Forever.

The new friends looked up as someone stepped closer to them. Nolan had actually forgotten that there were other people present, so caught up in the excitement of finally meeting his partner for the first time. He still couldn't wipe the smile off his face, not that he was trying very hard.

"Ah, splendid" Professor Oak said happily, clapping his hands together, "Just splendid! Yes, it looks like you and Bulbasaur will get along just fine Nolan. A very good match up indeed".

Nolan and Bulbasaur glanced at each other and shared a warm smile.

They both thought so too.

"But for now, let us continue" the Professor turned back to the other three, Gary watching Nolan with narrowed eyes, still obviously bitter that the blonde had got to pick his Pokemon first, "Alright Elaine, it's your turn now".

At the Professor's prompting, the young girl stepped up to the altar-like device as Nolan stepped away to allow her better access. After a moment of consideration, Elaine selected one of the pokeballs.

Moments later, a Squirtle was released before her.

"Nooo..." Nolan heard Gary hissed under his breath, disappointment heavy in the other boy's tone, "That's the one I wanted!"

The brunette was keeping his voice down despite his inner turmoil, lest he incur his grandfather's wrath.

Nolan couldn't help but snigger to himself at Gary's misfortune.

This day just kept getting better and better.

Bulbasaur heard his quiet laughter, and looked up at him curiously from his arms. Noticing this, Nolan shifted his grip on the Pokemon slightly in order to pet the grass type's head again.

"Sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh" he whispered to his partner quietly so that no one else could hear, "Me and Gary just don't like each other very much".

Bulbasaur looked shocked at this, and immediately narrowed its eyes at the young Oak, training a glare on him. The grass type was obviously taking its new trainer's side, deciding that it didn't like Gary Oak either.

Smiling at this show of loyalty, Nolan hugged Bulbasaur affectionately as they turned back to watch the scene unfolding before them.

Elaine was trying to coax the Squirtle out of its shell. Literally, seeing as the water type had retracted its limbs into the soft brown shell it wore. It seemed that the water type was rather timid. It would obviously take them some time to warm up to each other.

Nolan couldn't help but smile slightly.

He was glad that Bulbasaur had been open to accepting him, relieved that already they were becoming fast friends. The boy's attention was recaptured when the Professor announced that it was now Gary's turn.

Icy blue eyes watched as his rival stepped up to the podium.

Nolan saw Gary glare bitterly at Elaine, eyeing the Squirtle in her arms with longing. The brown haired boy didn't dare protest in front of his grandfather though. He clearly didn't want to risk not getting a Pokemon at all that day.

Stepping up to the table, Gary paused to consider his options.

Nolan looked on with interest as his rival finally dismissed the pokeballs baring the flame and lightning bolt symbols, eventually settling on the one with the brown circle emblem emblazoned on it. Gary's face pinched into a grin as his fingers wrapped around the sphere.

The blonde boy had to admit that he was genuinely curious as to what Pokemon was inside the pokeball.

It was clear that Professor Oak had selected something that would be suitable for a beginner trainer, but that it wasn't a traditional Kanto starter Pokemon. He watched with sharp eyes as Gary tossed the ball into the air.

Then they widened in sheer disbelief.

An Eevee.

Gary Oak, Nolan's least favourite person and frankly the biggest jerk on the entire planet, would be starting his Pokemon journey with a rare Eevee.

Nolan could barely believe the injustice of it.

Gary Oak most certainly did NOT deserve such a Pokemon in his opinion. If you were to ask the blonde, he'd fiercely say that the other boy didn't deserve any Pokemon at all!

Still, he was hardly in a position to complain.

Nolan wouldn't trade his new Bulbasaur for all the Pokemon in the world. He already loved the little grass type far too much to even contemplate such a thing.

Gary's face twisted into his usual smug smirk, clearly satisfied by this turn of events. His disappointment over not getting a Squirtle had already been forgotten. Eevee also seemed to approve of its new trainer, judging by the smirk mirrored on its fluffy little face.

Finally, it was Chase's turn.

The boy selected the last of the traditional Kanto starters, the Charmander, but when he tried to introduce himself, the orange fire type barely even opened one eye. It huffed out of plume of smoke from its mouth, before it rolled over and went back to sleep.

Disheartened by the Pokemon's lack of interest in him, Chase just solemnly gathered up the sleeping Charmander in his arms, carefully keeping the Pokemon's tail flame at bay. He would try to get a better response later on.

The remaining pokeball was the one emblazoned with the lightning bolt symbol.

Nolan quickly realised what this meant. The Pokemon inside it was going to be Ash's pokemon partner. It would be the one coming with them when they set off on their journey, if the other boy ever decided to show his face that was.

The blonde watched as Professor Oak sealed the pokeball back away inside the altar-like device. The Professor then smiled at all four of the new trainers.

"Now that each of you has selected your Pokemon, I must ask that you return them to their Pokeballs for a short time" the Professor calmly requested, "As I said earlier, there are still some matters of paperwork to attend to, and they require your full attention".

Nolan was a little disappointed, but respected the Professor far too much to protest.

Gary grumbled in annoyance, but returned his Eevee to his pokeball, looking at Professor Oak impatiently. Chase and Elaine followed suit, Charmander and Squirtle vanishing in a haze of red light. Nolan looked down at Bulbasaur, who whined unhappily.

"Don't worry Bulbasaur" he assured the little grass type with a small smile, "I'll let you back out again soon, okay?"

"Saur" Bulbasaur begrudgingly agreed.

Nolan smiled again before returning Bulbasaur, clipping the pokeball to his belt once it was occupied again before turning his attention back to the Professor.

"Thank you" Professor Oak nodded gratefully, "Now, the first matter of business we must attend to is filling out the paperwork of Pokemon Adoption. What that basically means is that this is the paperwork that will transfer ownership of your new Pokemon from myself to each of you for your respective partner".

And with those words, the dreaded task of paperwork engulfed the four new trainers once again.

Thankfully, it was lot quicker and easier to fill out the necessary forms and paperwork this time. Soon enough, four adoption certificates had been signed and completed. A smile worked its way on to Nolan's face again. Bulbasaur was now officially Nolan's Pokemon in the eyes of the law. They were together for the long haul.

The boy honestly couldn't have been happier about it.

"Good" the Professor nodded happily once they were all finished, "Now that those Pokemon are legally yours, they are your responsibility. Take very good care of them".

"Yes sir" the four new trainers all promised.

Professor Oak smiled approvingly.

"Now, there's just a few last minute things to be done, and then you can all be on your way" the Professor assured them, "I'm sure that each of you is very eager to get started".

Nolan privately thought that was the understatement of the century.

"So what do we need to do now, Grandpa?" Gary demanded to know impatiently.

The Professor smiled, but didn't verbally reply. Instead the man walked over to his desk and pulled several items out of a drawer. Nolan didn't see what the objects were, just that they were red in colour. The Professor slotted the four devices into his computer. A few moments of silence passed by.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

The Professor's smile widened as he extracted the four objects from the computer before turning back to the kids, all of whom were watching him curiously.

"Here we are" the Professor said, stepping forwards, "All set and ready to go. There's one for each of you".

He handed one of the objects each to Gary, Chase and Elaine. The Professor then headed over to where Nolan stood.

"And last but not least, this one if for you Nolan" Professor Oak said kindly, placing the final red object in the blonde boy's hand. Nolan's eyes widened in surprise.

He instantly knew what the device in his hand was.

It was a Pokedex, one of the most important and useful tools at any Pokemon Trainer's disposal. Nolan couldn't help but smile gratefully at the Professor. This was sure to be a very big help whilst he was out on his journey.

"Thank you so much Professor Oak" he beamed up at the man.

The others also all expressed their gratitude.

"No thanks is necessary, it's nothing at all" the man modestly waved their thanks aside, "Now all each of you has to do is activate your Pokedex. They already contain your personal details. That was why I inputted them into the computer".

Nolan nodded his understanding.

He then focused his attention back on the device, turning his new Pokedex over in his hands. Finding the power button, Nolan pressed it, and the device whirred into life. He flipped the Pokedex open, and the screen flashed on.

"Greetings" a cool female voice said in a robotic monotone, "I am Dexi, a Pokedex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokemon Trainer Nolan Locke from Pallet Town. If lost or stolen I cannot be replaced".

Nolan beamed as he flipped the device shut again.

"They are an extremely useful tool for any trainer to have" Professor Oak remarked wisely, "So be sure to take the time to properly experiment with them to learn all of their functions. I assure you, they are plentiful".

Nolan resolved to do just that.

He might have studied hard to obtain his Trainer License, and he knew a whole lot about all sorts of different Pokemon, but anything that could further his knowledge was worth investing his time in. That was Nolan's opinion anyway.

"Finally, I have one last gift of all of you" the Professor told the four children. He walked over to his desk again, this time picking up a small gray bag. He turned back to the new trainers with a wide smile.

"For each of you, I have five empty Pokeballs" he stated, first walking over to Nolan and handing him five empty pokeballs from the bag. Nolan clipped them all on to his belt. The Professor then repeated the action with Elaine, Chase and finally Gary, "These will assist you in catching other Pokemon. There are many different types of Pokeballs, each with different functions. These ones however are perfect for catching the weaker Pokemon typically found in the vicinity of Pallet Town if you wish to try them out. Also, please remember that by law, a trainer may only carry six Pokemon with them at any given time. If you catch any beyond that number, they will be transported here to my laboratory, where I shall care for them for you until you wish to switch out your team".

"Thank you so much Professor Oak" Nolan said earnestly, so, so grateful for everything the man had done for him.

The others all echoed him sincerely.

Professor Oak just smiled down at them all.

"The pleasure is mine" he told the four of them genuinely, "Ah, to see youngsters such as yourselves embarking on a new chapter of your lives is always a wonderful thing to behold. On your journey you will each learn many new things, maybe even new things about yourselves. So go forwards with courage, and never stop striving to make your dreams a reality. I wish all of you the very best of luck".

And with that, Nolan and the other new trainers were finally dismissed.

Chase and Elaine were the first to leave, excitedly chatting amongst themselves about what they each wanted to do first. Nolan knew from class that they were very close friends, so it was reasonable to assume they would be travelling together. He shrugged those thoughts away after a moment. He barely knew them, so it didn't matter very much to him. Instead he opted to linger back for a few moments.

"I just wanted to say thank you again Professor" he turned back to the Professor, bowing his head in respect, "I really appreciate everything you've done for me today".

The Professor smiled down at the boy warmly.

"And again, you are very welcome Nolan" Professor Oak assured him, "Now go on! Get going - I know you've been very eager to get your journey properly started".

"Yeah, get lost Loser!" Gary put in snidely, causing the blonde boy to scowl darkly at him, "I want to say goodbye to my Grandpa alone".

Nolan narrowed his eyes at him.

"Fine, I'm going" he huffed, before he smirked as an idea came to mind, "But what if I wait outside for you? Now that we're trainers, we could have a battle. And I can put you in your place once and for all".

Gary just sneered at him.

"I don't think so" the brunette shook his head.

"What?!" Nolan cried out in surprise. He had been sure that Gary would take him up on his challenge, "Why not?!"

Gary's smug smirk widened on his face, and Nolan had to fight really hard against to urge to smack it right off.

"Because I've literally waited years to become a Pokemon Trainer" Gary said to him, tone condescending, as if talking to an idiot, "I don't want my first ever Pokemon Battle to be against a nobody like you".

Nolan's face turned scarlet as he seethed with outrage.

"Oh, is that so?" he drawled sarcastically, "Or is it that you're just too much of a coward to put your money where your mouth is?!"

It was Gary's turn to flush with anger this time.

"THAT'S NOT IT AT ALL!" the brown haired boy yelled at his rival furiously.

"Okay you two, settle down" Professor Oak calmly interjected, "I know you've both overexcited, but cool it. This is meant to be a happy day for you both after all".

Nolan and Gary both took a deep breath.

"Yeah, you're right Grandpa" Gary smiled up at the man who had practically raised him, "I won't let No-One... so sorry, Nolan, ruin it just because he wants to battle someone way out of his league".

Nolan scoffed at him, struggling to believe that anybody could actually be so arrogant.

"You know what, you're actually right, for once" the blonde couldn't help but bitterly retort, "I don't know what I was thinking. Why would I want my first battle to be against a complete jerk like you? You turn into such a baby when you lose!"

Gary ground his teeth together furiously.

"I DO NOT!" Gary yelled at him.

"Err... yeah, yeah you do" Nolan drawled back at him.

"Oh boy" Professor Oak tiredly placed a hand to his forehead.

Smirking in satisfaction at getting the last word, Nolan turned back to the Professor before Gary had the chance to retort. The blonde boy's smile became genuine as he addressed the older man.

"Thanks again for everything Professor Oak" Nolan said, now completely ignoring his rival who was glaring daggers at him, "Bye!"

Professor Oak returned his smile.

"Goodbye Nolan" the man replied kindly, "Good luck"

Nolan smiled at him one final time, then turned on the spot and exited the room. Moments later, he'd left the laboratory completely, and was back outside in the fresh air.

The boy took a deep breath and allowed a huge grin to light up his entire face, as he felt a renewed sense of purpose overtake his entire being.

This was it.

The time was finally here.

Nolan Locke was setting out on his Pokemon Journey. But first, a quick visit home was in order. He'd made a promise to introduce his Dad to his partner Pokemon after all. But after that... he was leaving Pallet Town behind in favour of the open road.

Nothing was going to hold him back.

The boy began setting off down the long winding driveway that led from the entrance of the Professor's laboratory back into Pallet Town. In the far distance, he spotted Chase and Elaine, and further ahead of them, down by the gates...

Nolan blinked in utter confusion.

Down at the gates, there was a large crowd of people gathering. Even from such a distance, Nolan could tell that they were yelling, though he couldn't hear anything they were saying. He wondered if there was some sort of problem.

The blonde boy jumped in surprise as he heard the sound of a door opening behind him. Turning, Nolan saw Professor Oak and Gary both emerging from the laboratory. The blonde boy couldn't help but grimace slightly.

He had hoped that he had seen the back of Gary for today.

The other boy quickly caught up to Nolan, who scowled as the brunette smugly turned to him.

"Jealous, No-One?" the boy sneered mockingly.

"Of what?" Nolan asked, utterly perplexed as to what he was going on about now.

"Why, of my adoring public of course!" Gary crowed, gesturing grandly at the gathering crowd off in the distance. Nolan raised a disbelieving eyebrow at him.

"Those people... are here for you?" he asked slowly, tone highly sceptical.

"Of course! After all, it's not everyday that the grandson of the great Professor Oak sets off on his Pokemon Journey" Gary boasted, whilst behind him, Professor Oak let out another exhausted sigh, clearly getting fed up with his grandson's attitude himself by this point "The people of Pallet Town know exactly which new trainer is going to bring fame to our little town after all".

"Planning on ending up on 'Kanto's Most Wanted', are we?" Nolan quipped back, rolling his eyes for good measure.

Gary scoffed, but evidently decided he'd wasted enough time bickering with Nolan for one day. Without another word to the blonde boy, Gary barged passed him, making sure to hit him hard with his shoulder, as he bolted off down the driveway to meet his fans.

Nolan grunted and rubbed the sore spot on his arm.

With a sour look at the Professor, who chuckled at him in amusement, Nolan also set off in a quick stride without another word. The Professor decided it would be better to take the walk at a more leisurely pace. The man had heard more than enough bickering for one day.

Nolan's disgruntled expression only grew in intensity as he finally caught up to Gary at the gates. Elaine and Chase were long gone, but the brunette boy was still there, soaking in all the attention. The cheers of the crowd finally met Nolan's ears.

"Gary! Gary! He's our man! If he can't do it, no one can!"

Nolan's jaw dropped in disbelief.

Cheerleaders.

Gary Oak had actual cheerleaders here supporting him.

Not just cheerleaders either. Nolan recognised a lot of the citizens from around Pallet Town who had come to show their support for Gary. He shook his head in disgust. The boy wasn't jealous. Far from it in fact. Nolan didn't much like being the centre of attention. He just couldn't believe that all these people would come to cheer on Gary when the guy was shook an obnoxious jerk.

Shaking his head once more, Nolan was about to storm off, when he heard a very familiar voice calling out in desperation.

"STOP! WAIT FOR ME!" the voice screamed over the cheers of the ever-expanding crowd of Gary's supporters, "I'M HERE TO GET MY POKEMON! HOLD ON! I'M HERE!"

And if Nolan wasn't irritated enough before, he was downright furious now.

Eyes scanning the crowd angrily for the source of the familiar voice, Nolan growled under his breath when he finally saw his best friend arrive at long last. Shoving his way through the crowd, disrupting the cheerleaders' chant and dressed in his pyjamas no less, Ash Ketchum had finally decided to show up.

Only about two hours late.

Impressive even by Ash's standards.

Ash didn't even notice Nolan's presence, so wrapped up in his frantic attempts to reach the laboratory. The raven haired boy was so flustered over his tardiness that he couldn't stop himself from colliding with another body.

That body belonged to Gary Oak.

Ash flailed his arms as he fell backwards, landing on the ground at Gary's feet, who narrowed his eyes as he looked down at him.

"Watch where you're going!" he snarled, but then Gary's face twisted into his usual condescending sneer when he realised who it was, "Well, well - if it isn't the other loser. Better late than never I guess, huh Ashy-Boy?"

Ash's face quickly changed from flustered to annoyed.

The boy had still yet to actually notice his best friend, who was practically glaring daggers into the side of his head. The blonde boy would wait however. He wanted Ash to notice him first before he unleashed his wrath.

"Gary" Ash coldly acknowledged the other boy as he climbed to his feet.

"Mister Gary to you!" Gary sneered at him, "Show some respect!"

"Why don't you do something to earn it?" Nolan growled under his breath, but still, nobody actually noticed him standing there. His frustration was only building because of that.

Ash clenched his teeth angrily, and opened his mouth to retort, but Gary beat him to it.

"Well Ash, you snooze you lose" Gary said, smirking as he peered at Ash's pyjama, an obvious indicator as to why he was so late, "You're WAY behind right from the start! I've got a Pokemon and you don't!"

Nolan couldn't help but roll his eyes at that.

Gary hadn't even trained with that Eevee of his yet, but of course he would have to rub that in Ash's face. Not that Nolan could muster up much sympathy for his best friend at the moment. He was still far too angry at him for that.

"You... got your first Pokemon?" Ash stammered out in shock.

His smug smirk widening even further, Gary produced a pokeball from his pocket and began spinning it on his finger like a pro basketball player.

"That's right Loser!" Gary jeered in Ash's stunned face, "And it's right inside this pokeball!"

It was at that declaration that the crowd started going wild again.

Nolan couldn't refrain from rolling his eyes. He was honestly struggling to decide which one he wanted to do more. Shout at the crowd for being idiots, or wring Ash's neck for being late.

Gary smirked, turning his attention away from his rival and back to his adoring public.

"Thank you fans!" he called to the crowd grandly, his arms held up above his head like he was sort kind of celebrity, "Thank you all for this great honour! I promise you that I will become a Pokemon Master and make the town of Pallet known all around the world!"

The crowd applauded and cheered even louder.

Growling in anger at the way his rival was lapping up all the attention, Ash stepped forward to reclaim the taller boy's attention.

"Excuse me!" he bit out, feeling somewhat snubbed by the other boy, "I was just wondering if you could tell me what kind of Pokemon you got".

Gary's condescending sneer was back on his face quicker than Ash could blink.

"None of your business!" Gary snarled nastily, which only made Ash glare at him harder, "If you'd showed up on time, you would have seen that I got the best Pokemon from Professor Oak!"

Nolan's eyes flashed with anger at that remark.

As far as he was concerned, Bulbasaur was a much better partner than any Pokemon trained by Gary could ever hope to be. He actually pitied that Eevee, getting stuck with such a jerk.

Still... Nolan couldn't help but agree with the other part of Gary's statement, loathed as he was to admit it. If Ash had been on time, he would know exactly what type of Pokemon Gary had claimed as his own.

His bitterness over his friend's tardiness only grew stronger.

"It's good to have a grandfather in the Pokemon business, isn't it?" Gary continued his mocking, whilst Ash's face was visibly turning red in anger at the attitude he was on the receiving end of.

Ash opened his mouth to retort with a no-doubt stinging remark, but Gary rudely turned away from him before the boy got the chance to.

Nolan glared at his rival as he made his way over to a shiny red sports car that was parked a few feet away ahead of the crowd. With one graceful jump, Gary climbed into the back and waved to the crowd.

A crowd that went absolutely wild.

"Thank you for coming out to see history in the making!" Gary called to his adoring fans as the car's engine started up and the vehicle started moving away, "Now I, Gary Oak, am off to learn the ways of the Pokemon Trainer!"

Nolan's eyes were practically burning in his skull.

Ash clenched his fists together and ground his teeth in anger.

The crowd on the other hand all roared in delight and set of after the car, all yelling and cheering as Gary Oak got smaller on the horizon. As the gathered crowd moved away, it was then that Ash finally noticed the presence of his very best friend.

A best friend who was glaring at him with murder in his eyes.

Ash gulped and shuddered.

He was so dead.

And that's the end of chapter two : )

Yay! Nolan has his partner Pokemon : ) I can't wait to properly start developing Bulbasaur's character. Its gender and name will be revealed in the next chapter ; )

Anyway, I have another topic I'd love you guys to vote on : )

I mentioned in the previous chapter that you guys will get to vote on which wild encounter I will add to my team in the Nuzlocke, which in turn will be the Pokemon that Nolan will catch in this story. The groups of Pokemon are broken down into groups of three.

Well, the first grouping is up : )

Below are the first three Pokemon that you guys get to pick between. You can do this by leaving your choice in a review.

Pokemon Options -

Route 1: - Rattata - Female - Naughty Nature - Run Away Ability

Route 2: - Pidgey - Male - Jolly Nature - Keen Eye Ability

Route 22 - Spearow - Male - Timid Nature - Keen Eye Ability

Not gonna lie, I was REALLY hoping I'd find a Mankey on Route 22, but of course I had to find a Spearow instead... oh well, I guess we can't have everything in life ; )

But seriously, please pick one of these Pokemon in a review and the one with the most votes by the end of next week will be the Pokemon that Nolan catches in the story : ) Oh, and when making your choice, please feel free to leave a suggestion for a name : )

I really hope you all enjoyed this chapter and are having fun with the way the Nuzlocke is working.

Until the next time, keep on reading : )
