"Welp," Dee said, slumped on the sofa with an ice pack pressed to one eye. "Not one of our better days."
"Mm," Ryo replied, a bit indistinctly thanks to the cold compress resting against his split and swollen lips. He had a second ice pack balanced on his knee, hoping that might reduce the bruising. "Least y'r nose stopped bleedin'."
"Yeah, guess we should be countin' our blessings. Or somethin'." Dee peered across at his lover. "This would'a been a good day to stay home. Pity we can't see into the future."
"Mm," Ryo agreed again.
"Never did like dogs."
"Wasn't the dog's fault."
"Like Hell it wasn't! If I hadn't tripped over the damn thing, I wouldn't have slammed face first into the bookcase, and you wouldn't have tried to keep it from topplin' over. Who puts an entire set of encyclopaedias on the top shelf? That was just askin' for trouble, those things weigh a ton."
"I know. I'm gonna have bruises everywhere." Practically every volume had managed to hit Ryo on its way to the floor.
Dee snickered suddenly, and Ryo eyed his partner owlishly over the compress. "What?"
"Think we can charge the bookcase with assault?"
