When the strange ship over their heads exploded, Jake hadn't known what to expect. He'd known that Teknomen like Slade and Shara were kind of insanely durable, but the sight of Shara flying away from the exploding ship as something that looked like a long-tailed bird – made of the same kind of pink energy that seemed to be tied to Shara, just as much as the emerald green energy was tied to Slade – burst free from the exploding ship, flapping its "wings" as though to steady itself, was something else.

"Great, as if those two needed more ways to destroy stuff," Marco snarked, as Slade and Shara dropped out of the air, landing heavily in the middle of their group.

"Are you two all right?" he asked, as the siblings began glowing brightly in their respective colors, transforming back out of those armored forms of theirs.

"I think we could both use some food," Shara said, sounding more tired than Jake had ever heard either of the siblings sound before.

"Well, I think that T-Rex Slade killed should hold you," Marco said, smirking slightly as he jerked his thumb back at the decapitated dinosaur that Cassie and Rachel had been steadily slicing up and cooking, with some help from Ax and Tobias to cut the meat for them.

One of them had managed to get a fire going, but since he'd been more concerned with how Slade and Shara had been doing, he hadn't seen for himself just who'd started the fire or how it'd ultimately been made. Making his own way over to where the rest of the Animorphs had all gathered together, Jake glanced over at the siblings, and found himself more than a little surprised at how outright voracious Slade and Shara seemed to be.

"Wow, you two are really packing it away," Marco said, sounding almost more sarcastic than surprised.

"You both eat so much normally, I guess I should have expected something like this," Cassie said, holding up her own scrap of tyrannosaurus meat, watching the siblings as they both continued eating.

(Yes,) Shara said, still eating just as fast as Slade. (Teknomen are already hyper-metabolic, just as a baseline, but the transformation burns more and more calories the longer we stay transformed.)

"It probably gets worse if you use those weapons of yours, doesn't it?" Cassie asked, though it almost sounded more like she was making some kind of a statement, really.
