The next day rolled around and Sonia was very much looking forward to it! She woke up and began to get ready for it. She skipped out of her room and into the dining room where Sonic was eating cereal with bags under his eyes.
"Good morning Sonic!" Sonia greeted. "...What happened to you?" She replied.
"...You didn't go on a date with Shadow yesterday ... did you…?" Sonic asked in an exasperated tone.
"I did, remember how funny you were acting when he took me home?" Sonia said with a slight giggle.
Sonic's eyes widened and groaned.
"It really wasn't just a bad nightmare after all!" Sonic said, face planting into his cereal bowl.
"I think Shadow is pretty cool, Sonia!" Manic said with a grin. Sonia shot a smile towards him.
"Right?!" She said in a dreamy tone. "He's so cool~"
Sonic physically gagged for a bit upon hearing this. Why did Sonia and Manic have to be so fond and trusting of Shadow?! Suddenly, his smartwatch beeped with his alarm.
"Alright you two, it's time for our shift at Uncle Chuck's!" Sonic exclaimed.
"Right!" Sonia and Manic said in unison.
The triplet hedgehogs made their way to Uncle Chuck's Chili Dog Diner. It was a quaint restaurant with a 50s style setting. Although he served as King Acorn's royal scientist, he also had a passion for making chili dogs. After Sonia donated a large portion of her money towards this passion of his, business had been booming. The aforementioned elderly hedgehog was polishing glass cups when he heard the door open and saw his nephews and niece.
"Sonic, Sonia, Manic!" Uncle Chuck greeted the trio with a smile.
"Hey Uncle Chuck!" Manic waved.
The three hogs then went on with their duties for today. Sonic was polishing the windows, Sonia was mopping the floor, and Manic was… cleaning the ceiling? Uncle Chuck shook his head at his green quilled nephew with a smile. He glanced over to Sonic and Sonia though, who were a bit… unfocused.
Sonic was nearly falling asleep as he was in the middle of cleaning. He still had those bags under his eyes and droopy eyelids. When a little kid would pass by the window, Sonic just gave him a big frown and had wide dilated eyes, which spooked the little kid and ran off.
Over with Sonia, it looked as if she was on cloud nine. She was looking off into the distance with a dreamy look in her eyes. She gripped the mop tightly but she somehow still managed to clean. Sonia's surroundings quickly changed. She was in a red ballgown with a matching red flower in her hair. When she saw that Shadow had appeared with a red and white fancy suit, Sonia's pupils turned to hearts and she took his hand and they had begun to waltz. Nothing could stop her and her hot crush.
"Oh Sonia, are you feeling ok?" Shadow asked.
"Of course I am, my love~" Sonia said, staring at him with love in her eyes.
"Then why are you dancing with a mop-?" Shadow inquired.
"What-?" Sonia asked. Her fantasy disappeared and she was back in the diner. She looked up to see Uncle Chuck staring at her with a look of bewilderment.
"...Oh Uncle Chuck! I was uh… practicing my choreography!" Sonia exclaimed with a grin.
"...Ok then?" Uncle Chuck replied, going to the back to finish setting up.
Sonia sighed in relief and actually decided to mop some more… although of course that didn't mean she still wouldn't get distracted.
Eventually, the diner was good to open for the day. The triplets set by the diner counter as Uncle Chuck stood behind the counter to talk to them.
"Thank you so much for helping me today, you three." Uncle Chuck thanked with a smile.
"No problem Uncle Chuck!" Manic replied with a smile. He was sitting in between Sonic and Sonia.
"Yeah…" Sonic nonchalantly replied, struggling to keep his eyes open.
Sonia didn't respond, much to the chagrin of Sonic, and to the confusion of their uncle. She was looking off into the distance as she had her hands up to her chin and sighed dreamily.
"Uh… is she ok?" Uncle Chuck asked in a concerned tone.
As The Blue Blur was about to say something, Manic blocked him.
"Oh yeah, she's totally fine!" He said with a grin. "She's probably just thinking about her boyfriend~" He explained, slightly teasing towards the end.
"BOYFRIEND?!" Uncle Chuck exclaimed. "My niece has a boyfriend?!"
"Yup! And he's really super cool, his name is Shadow!" Manic explained with a grin.
"SHUT UP MANIC!" Sonic's voice shouted from behind.
Uncle Chuck's mouth was agape as Sonia was then drawing on a piece of paper. She had hearts floating around her as she drew lovingly.
"So… is that Shadow?" Uncle Chuck asked, peering his head at the drawing and pointing towards it. Sonia did not say anything as the hearts continued to float around her. "I wasn't aware he had such… profound abs?"
"He's sooooooo hot~" The magenta hedgehog sighed dreamily. She still held the pencil in her hands.
"And I didn't know he had big muscles… on his eyeballs..?" He asked in a confused tone once more.
Finally, Sonia drew his face, and still, hearts floated around her.
"He has such a chiseled jaw!" Uncle Chuck exclaimed.
"THAT'S NOT HOW HE LOOKS LIKE!" Sonic shouted. "HE LOOKS LIKE THIS!" He said, pulling out a crude drawing of Shadow.
"NO HE DOESN'T!" Sonia shrieked.
Uncle Chuck squinted his eyes looking at Sonic's drawing.
"Which one is the real Shadow?!" He asked.
"This one!" Manic replied, taking out his phone and showing his uncle.
"Awww… so you went on your first date?" Uncle Chuck asked, turning his attention to his niece. All he got was a silent nod.
"...WHY DO YOU HAVE A PICTURE OF THEM?!" Sonic exclaimed, shaking Manic.
"Sonia told me all about it yesterday, she really was happy!" The neon green hedgehog replied.
Sonic's response was falling off of the chair and onto the chair, earning a look from Uncle Chuck.
The light blue hedgehog went to check on him.
"Sonic! Why are you acting this way?!" He exclaimed. "And why do you have bags under your eyes?"
The Blue Blur was tossing and turning in his sleep. He had a look of discomfort on his face as he thought of all the possible horrors that Sonia could be doing with Shadow.
"...What if she's telling him embarrassing stories about me?!" Sonic asked himself in the night.
"What if she tells him about my crippling Chao plushie addiction?!" He exclaimed. "OR THAT ONE PICTURE OF ME AT THE CHRISTMAS PARTY?!" He let out a shriek as he clutched onto his blanket.
"...Sonic…what in the world are you going on about?" Sally asked in an annoyed tone. It was the middle of the night as crickets were chirping.
"Sonia might ruin my reputation as a cool guy if she tells Shadow anything!" Sonic said with a frown. "And SHE might get influenced by Shadow's edginess!" He exclaimed.
"And how could that possibly happen…" Sally's eyes rolled back as she turned to her side.
"What if the next time Sonia goes on a date with him, she's dressing in all black! With fishnet stockings and a choker!" Sonic exclaimed. "What if when that happens, Shadow forces her to brood WITH him! WHAT IF THEY EAT COFFEE BEANS WEIRD TOGETHER?!"
And Sonic did have that delusion, as he pictured Sonia wearing exactly that with a scowl on her face and red highlights which clashed with her quills.
"Oh hi Sonic!" Punk Sonia greeted. "Do you like what I did with myself?" She said with a smile.
"AAAAAAAA!" He shrieked.
"Shadow and I are going to the coffee shop now!" She said, linking arms with the aforementioned red and black hedgehog as they skipped over there.
"OH THE HORROR! THE HORROR!" Sonic exclaimed as he snapped back to reality.
"That's NOT going to happen." Sally replied, using a pillow to cover her ears to block his screams.
"YES IT WILL!" He replied. "Don't couples start to act like each other?! Sonia's gonna start acting just like him!" He said with a frown.
Sally looked at him with a deadpan expression. "...We're married, you idiot!"
"BUT THAT'S DIFFERENT!" He said, shaking her. He then thought long and hard about something, which caused him to recoil in disgust.
"...CAN YOU IMAGINE SHADOW AS MY BROTHER IN LAW?!" He shrieked. "THAT'S MY WORST NIGHTMARE!"
Sally did not answer as she clutched onto her side of the blanket as her left eye twitched.
"...Goodnight Sonic!" She said, turning on her side again and began to doze off.
"BUT WHAT IF-"
THUD!
The Blue Blur ended up on the floor as he heard the snores of his wife as she dozed off. However, he could not sleep, as he sat up from the floor and kept himself awake by humming.
The next morning, Sally woke up with a yawn.
"...What's that noise? Is there a bug in here?" She asked, her red hair was messy.
The bug in question turned his head towards her. "Good morning Sal." He replied with a smile.
"...Have you been up all night?" She asked with a concerned look on her face.
"...Whaat? No, of course not," Sonic replied again with a smile, but the bags under his eyes were bulging.
"...I… see…." Sally said with a sweatdropped. "Well, I'm going to get ready for the day, get some rest ok?" She said as she slammed the door.
"You didn't sleep at all last night?!" Uncle Chuck exclaimed.
"...How could I if my rival went on a date with MY sister?!" He replied.
"...Shadow is your rival?" Uncle Chuck gawked.
"YES! He's my rival! My opposite! MY FAKER!" He explained with a frown.
"...Isn't Scourge your opposite-" Uncle Chuck interjected.
"WELL SHADOW IS TOO!" Sonic shrieked.
"SONIC! STOP TALKING BAD ABOUT HIM!" Sonia said from the other side of where he was sitting.
"ONLY IF YOU STOP MAKING GOO-GOO EYES AT HIM!" Sonic replied.
"Well how can I if Shadow is so irresistibly charming?!" Sonia asked. "It's not my fault he was such a gentleman during our date! He swept me off of my feet!"
"Really?" Uncle Chuck asked with a raised eyebrow. "He sounds ni-"
"NO HE IS NOT!" Sonic interjected.
"CAN YOU SHUT UP?!" Sonia exclaimed. Sonic banged his forehead onto the table and let out a cry.
"I don't have time for this! I'm gonna go out shopping!" She said with a huff. "Goodbye Uncle Chuck, Bye Manic!" Sonia said with a smile. "And bye Sonic." She said with a grumble towards the end.
She walked out the door and went to the local shopping district. There were local food stands and other goods. Then she stumbled into the more commercial area of the district. She then saw a shop display with big white words that read "HOT TOPIC" and saw a human mannequin wearing a Shadow shirt. Her eyes had stars in them as she dashed into the store and came out with a lot of bags.
"Hm… I wonder what else I could buy here…" Sonia pondered to herself. Before she saw even more stores.
By now, Sonic had calmed down, he was reading a book on a rocking chair with a relaxed smile. Sonia was just experiencing puppy love, surely she would get over this in no time!
"Oh Sonic, I'm home~" Sonia replied in a sing-song tone.
"Hey Sonia! Listen, I'm sorry about- WHAT THE?!" He exclaimed.
Sonia had come back with many more shopping bags in her hands. Sonic couldn't not believe his eyes as he rubbed them and his mouth was agape.
"Um…." He began. "What'cha got there?"
"A smoothie!" She answered, as she did indeed have a smoothie in her hand.
"I meant what's in those bags?!" He asked.
"I went out shopping today!" She said with a smile. She then set the bags down one by one.
"I bought this Shadow the Hedgehog graphic t-shirt and hat!" Sonia said, showing it off.
"Then I bought this plushie, some action figures, a mini backpack, a water bottle, posters, a cardboard cutout, a life sized Shadow the Hedgehog doll…" Sonia listed them off while showing them in the process.
"LIFE SIZED?!" Sonic shrieked.
"A Shadow the Hedgehog bed set complete with fitted sheet, blanket, and pillow covers, Shadow the Hedgehog coffee cup…" She continued. "A Shadow the Hedgehog waffle maker and finally… Shadow the Hedgehog ice cubes!" She finished, showing off the ice cubes which were starting to melt.
"ICE CUBES?!" Sonic exclaimed. "What are you gonna do?! Slurp him up or something?!"
"Hmm…probably!" Sonia answered innocently.
"WHAT?!" He shrieked. He darted his eyes towards his sister as she set down the bags again as she put everything away.
"Wait… what's in the Spencer's bag?!" He asked with wide eyes.
"Oh don't worry about it~" She replied back with a dismissive hand…. until she kicked the bag away. Sonic shuddered after that. "Now, if you'll be needing me, I'll be redecorating!"
Sonia went away into her room, much to the shock of Sonic again. Although, as Sonia was in room, loud heavy metal began to play in her room. Sonic walked up to her door and put an ear on her door.
"...ARE YOU LISTENING TO HIS THEME SONG?!" He exclaimed.
Night soon reached Knothole. Amy's house was just on the outskirts of town. Crickets were chirping and she was peacefully in bed. Though she wasn't alone, ever since Scourge kind of got kicked out of his home dimension, he had nowhere else to go since everyone hated his guts and refused to take to him. Amy, however, was nice enough to let him stay, in exchange for him to behave. They have been inseparable ever since!
"Ah… time to get some rest!" She said to herself with a smile. Although she did feel something was watching over her… or someone.
"...I need you to help me." Shadow's voice stated.
"AH!" Amy yelped out as she jumped out of bed.
"...Shadow! What on earth are you doing?!" Amy asked with a frown.
"...need… to a concert…" He replied with a mumble.
"What?" She asked.
"...I need to go to a concert…" He replied, but with gritted teeth again.
"What?!" She repeated.
"I NEED to go to a CONCERT!" Shadow said out loud, staring at the pinkette with annoyed eyes.
"Oh…" Amy responded. "...Why for?"
"...I need to go to Sonia's concert…" Shadow said quietly. Amy blinked in confusion, trying to process what the black and red hedgehog said to her.
"...Oh right, you're dating her!" She said with a smile.
"How did you know?!" He asked.
"Sonia told me." Amy replied with a shrug. "She also keeps on telling me that Sonic keeps on screaming about it."
"...Typical." Shadow said with a frown as he heard that last part.
"As for your request, I'm not sure if I could… Scourge and I had plans to go to Twinkle Park together!" Amy explained with a smile.
"But I have to go there!" Shadow exclaimed. "Sonia has such an amazing voice and I need to hear more!"
"Awww…" Amy replied.
"Wait… where is Scourge anyways?" Shadow asked, not seeing the green hedgehog anywhere.
"On the floor sleeping," Amy answered. She motioned to the green hedgehog, who was snoozing on said floor. He was sleeping on his side and he snored.
"He sleeps like a rotisserie chicken," Amy said, as she playfully rolled her eyes.
"I see…" Shadow replied.
"So, why not just go to the concert by yourself?" Amy asked.
"Do you know how embarrassing it would be if I went by myself?!" He exclaimed, shaking her. "Her stupid brother is there and knowing Sonic, he's probably going to start saying weird stuff about me." He explained with a frown.
"Here's the plan!" Shadow began. The scene then shifted into a red grid with silhouettes of Shadow, Scourge and Amy.
"I go with you and Scourge into the concert and we listen to her music. You two can do whatever romantic stuff you two do, while I just sit next to you guys." Shadow explained.
"But-"
"PLEASE!" He exclaimed. "Just think of it like this; you're my little sister and I'm escorting you and your devil boyfriend to the concert! I will be your quiet older brother who doesn't want to be there!"
"Wait… so you don't want to be there?" Amy asked in confusion.
"No! I do want to be there!" Shadow replied. "Just not alone!"
Amy nodded in response and thought long and hard about this.
"I guess Scourge and I can just make the plans to Twinkle Park some other time…" Amy began. "Plus, it would be the first concert Scourge and I ever go to!" She said with a smile.
"GREAT!" Shadow responded. "When's it gonna be?!"
"Tomorrow." Amy replied. "I keep track of every event my friends would have!" She replied, pointing to her calendar.
"I see… sounds like a lot of work…" He said with a squint.
"I'll tell Scourge about this tomorrow…" Amy said, which was followed by a yawn. "Goodnight, Shadow." She said, before finally going to bed.
Shadow chaos controlled out of her house and back into his room.
Wait, did Amy say that the concert was TOMORROW?!
Shadow started to panic a little as he laid down on his bed. Why was Sonia making him feel this way?! He only enjoyed her company, and her voice was absolutely spectacular! He didn't have a crush on Sonia! He would have made sure of it tomorrow! The Ultimate Lifeform then drifted off to sleep again.
