Sorry for the wait! Never realized I forgot to put this chapter up here on this site! So here's Chaper 2!
Also want to say thank you to FanFictionTheory for the review too! I love some out of the box stuff myself, especially when it includes Makoto! Thank you again for the review and I hope you enjoy the chapter as well!
Chapter 2 - "Songs of Love"
Or "Makoto and Monika Have Some Fun"
It was the next day as after school Makoto had once again opened up the Chat with Monika, the AI in high spirits though she played it off as being amused by something Natsuki did earlier. She couldn't wait for when they would be united! She just had to make sure not to spoil the surprise now is all.
Their conversations went on as usual though, talking and chatting about the day and what all went on in it; Makoto with the experiences at Hope's Peak Academy and Monika in her own Literature Club days. Makoto talked about hanging out with his friend Aoi Asahina again, the Ultimate Swimmer if Monika remembered right. She was a bit nervous about how much he was spending with her lately, but reassured herself that they were just friends for now.
-At least Aoi was real Real…-
Monika was brought out of her thoughts quickly though when the Lucky Student of her dreams sent a new message that was a question that surprised her:
[Makoto: Say, the idea just popped into my head, but if you had an Ultimate Talent what do you think it would be?]
[Monika: Mmm, not sure. Maybe Ultimate Poet? Though maybe it could be the Ultimate Programmer. Bet I could give your Chihiro friend a run for their money!]
That got a chuckle out of Makoto, something that made Monika smile as usual when it happened. He was cute when he did it! She did enjoy sprinkling in a bit of 4th wall knowledge of what could've happened normally every now and then to see his reaction.
-It probably would have happened if he didn't show up-
She was distracted from that train of thought again thanks to Makoto, who typed a reply as Monika gave a silent thanks to him once more.
[Makoto: Hehe, I could see you having both of those talents to be honest!]
[Makoto: Though I think you and Chihiro would get along great to be honest]
Monika giggled at that. They probably would to be honest. -They have similar problems- Similar interests! Just similar interests, Monika thought as she made her reply.
[Monika: *Giggle* Yeah, we probably would to be honest]
[Monika: Maybe one day I can go out and meet them]
[Makoto: Hopefully! I wouldn't mind letting Chihiro take the helm of talking to you one day! They're usually pretty busy getting stronger or working on stuff lately though]
[Monika: Best of luck to them! Maybe I should look into getting stronger soon too]
[Makoto: I don't think you need to do that, though best of luck if you do! I'm sure you'd look great with muscles!]
Monika felt her face blush up at that. Makoto had a talent she found for being unintentionally smooth at times. It wasn't fair! Luckily he didn't seem to notice, or did and decided to change the subject as he typed a new reply after hearing something off camera.
[Makoto: Unfortunately I've got to go now, Mom's finished dinner and I still have some homework to do after!]
[Monika: All good! Enjoy your dinner! It's almost time to leave for me anyways]
[Monika: Was fun chatting with you once more though!]
[Makoto: Agreed! Hopefully we can talk more tomorrow!]
With that their daily chat came to an end once again as Makoto turned off the program on his end. It never really ended for Monika though, just simulated school, keeping things in the world in order, and going into rest in between then. Monika sighed as she closed her side of the program and closed her laptop, she may have control over this world but it didn't mean much by herself. Her friends, she cared for them and hell even more now thanks to Makoto, may help things but it was still lonely in a way and going off the script and editing her world with her new knowledge and system couldn't change much for her.
Monika smiled though, now she just had to wait until her mysterious helper was able to make it so she could join Makoto in his reality. She would need to get more info on that though, but she could ask later at her… home. Was a normal home yes but was still lonely on her own. Even with the plushies she made to keep her company. Thankfully her train of thought changed due to someone speaking up to her.
"Are you smiling Monika? Did your friend say something that made you happy?" Sayori asked her, snapping Monika back to reality. Monika turned to her and said "N-Not really. Just thinking about things with them". Looking behind her friend, Monika noticed Natsuki and Yuri talking about something, Natsuki making some slightly dramatic gestures as she explained something and Yuri nodded along.
Sayori nodded at Monika's reply and said "That's good to hear! Though thinking about it I don't know if you've said a whole lot about them". Monika blinked before realizing that, she never really did so. Honestly it never came up all that much. She was usually a bit distant with the girls, less so after she began chatting with Makoto, so just who she was messaging after club never came up much so they never knew a lot about him outside of Monika chatting with him everyday. Letting out a sheepish chuckle, Monika replied "Y-Yeah, guess it never came up much in conversation over here".
Sayori proceeded to pull up a chair and sit next to Monika, hands holding her head as she leaned on the desk looking at her club leader saying "So, what're they like?". Monika was thrown for a loop as she tried to reply, "W-Well, his name is Makoto. He goes to a different school, one he got invited to join. He's pretty normal but really supportive. A good talker as well. He's kind, generous, ...cute".
That last word was quiet as best Monika could, though she instantly saw Sayori gain an almost cat-like face for a moment. This was not a side of Sayori she knew about, and she knew about the universe! Though luckily for her, Sayori instead replied "He sounds fun! Wish I could meet him if he can make you happy".
Monika gave Sayori a warm smile as she replied "Yeah, I wish you could meet him too". Should she let Sayori or one of the other girls take over for a chat one day? Maybe, it does sound fun for them to meet Makoto too now that she thought about it. But at the same time she didn't want to risk him getting more interested in them too! She needed to think about this more before she made a decision.
Maybe they could join her in Makoto's reality too.
Looking at the time and realizing it was already time for them to go, the girls got ready to leave as Sayori asked Monika "Hey by the way, I was wondering if you knew what was going on over at the fountain. I swore I saw some green light by there earlier today and the other girls say they saw something similar too". That was new. Monika blinked and thought for a second before saying "That is a bit weird. I'll make sure to take a look into it! Could be just some weird light reflections". Sayori nodded and said "Yeah, maybe. Either way, thanks Monika! I'll see you later!" before leaving.
While the other girls went on ahead, Monika thought to herself as she walked out of the school. Green light by the fountain? Was it just a glitch or did something happen because of her deal yesterday? Something to look into later. For now, get home and rest for a bit before taking care of possible world altering stuff.
Will be nice to see her Makoto Plushies again!
