Disclaimer: I do not own Sofia The First.
"Rise and shine!"
The voice was a pleasant alarm clock. However, Cedric still cringed when rays of sunlight landed upon his closed eyelids.
Reluctantly peeking them open he was greeted by the sight of Sofia opening the last curtain, before smiling brightly at him.
"Time to get up!" she urged again.
He groaned, "Why does Vivian get to sleep in?" Attempting to snuggle back next to the black haired woman beside him. Only to have his covers pulled off.
"Because Vivian doesn't need to practice before a big demonstration today," she said, holding his blankets out of reach. "Now get dressed, breakfast is ready."
Pouting, Cedric sat up. Casting an envious glance at his other wife, still sleeping contentedly, before grabbing his clothes.
He let out a great yawn as he stretched. Reaching the bottom of the stairs. A delicious smell wafting from the dining room, and perking him up a bit.
The table was set with a selection of breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, buttered toast, fresh fruit, and waffles. A spell had been cast on the necessary food to keep it warm, not only for their own benefit, but also Vivian's whenever she got up.
Sitting down he poured himself a glass of juice and took a drink. Then set about piling his plate with food.
"We can go over your work in the garden when you're ready," Sofia said, grabbing a waffle for herself. "How are you feeling about everything?"
"Fairly confident if I do say so myself," after swallowing a bite of sausage. "Though a last minute revision is always wise."
Preparations began right after breakfast. First, analyzing the potions he'd be displaying at his booth. Cedric having worked to concoct, or improve upon, a variety of different tinctures in the year leading up to this day. All of which he was quiet pleased with.
However, his pride and joy, and the thing he was most excited to show off was his newest spell. Having made great break throughs in the study of magical transformation, aided by his observations of Sofia's amulet.
She gave him the jewel to hold onto. A show of both trust, and to assure that the spell was working without it's interference.
"Alright," he breathed, after stowing it away safe in his carpet bag. "Let's give this a go then." Taking aim as he waved his wand, casting a spell to turn her into a cat.
"Well, that part went well," he smiled as the purple feline rubbed up against his legs. "Er..." his hands wringing a bit nervously. "Can you change back?"
There was a short pause as the cat stood still, concentrating on the words he'd told her. A puff of colored smoke suddenly obscuring it and growing taller until a human Sofia stood in it's place one more.
He gaped wordlessly for just a moment, then let out a cheer at the success.
Noticing his exited reaction, she jokingly remarked, "I think your spell works, Cedric."
"Of course it did!" he stated proudly, puffing out his chest. His usual bravado returning, as she giggled. "Although, we should probably test it out on a few others."
"Probably," she agreed.
He tested a number of different transformation spells and potions on her; and with everyone she was able to return with ease to her human shape. They then switched, Sofia transforming him and Cedric returning to form with his spell.
"I think that's good enough. Unless you want to test on Vivian too," she joked.
"Test what on me?"
"Vivian!" Sofia cried. Hurrying forward to wrap her in a hug.
"Did you get breakfast?"
"Uh huh," taking her hands in her own, and looking at Cedric. "You ready for your big demonstration today?"
"I believe so," giving his wand a confident twirl.
"Cedric made a spell that will let someone change back into their original shape just by thinking of it, no matter what transformation spell is put on them!" Sofia explained, squeezing her hands tighter in her excitement.
"Well, I'm not sure it will work on every spell," he admitted. "But Sofia and I have confirmed a good majority."
"Sounds useful," Vivian remarked with a grin.
Both women's added confidence set him at ease a bit more. "Indeed," his eyes drifting to the clock. "But we'd better get going if I want to show it off at the conference."
"You get ready," Sofia told her, "I'll help Cedric pack up."
Together they made quick work of the task. All the potions organized neatly in the bag. Until Cedric paused for a moment to take something else out.
"Can't forget this can we?" holding up her amulet with a grin.
"Thanks," allowing him to put it back on her. Before rising up on tiptoes to give him a kiss. "For luck today," she winked, and he smiled.
The Conjurors Conference, which was being held at the Ever Golden Glades this year, was the biggest one Sofia and Cedric had seen yet. The popularity of the event having grown massively over the years; despite the first one's nearly world altering mishaps.
Vivian's gaze roamed the venue taking everything in. Many booths had already been set up. The wizard's running them setting up eye catching signs in hopes of luring people over to examine their magical wonders.
"Wow!" she sighed.
"Told you it was amazing!" Sofia nudged.
"Come on! No time to dilly dally!" Cedric announced, cutting through them suddenly "The conference will be starting any moment, and I need to get set up!"
The two women exchanged amused glances and followed.
They found the spot he had been designated and were able to get his booth up and running with minutes to spare.
"Do you need anything else?" asked Sofia.
"I should be fine," he said, rearranging his potions ever so slightly. "Why don't the two of you look around for a bit."
"Alright, come on Vivian!" taking her by the hand.
As Sofia had thought this years Conjuror's Conference was truly something special; and she flittered from place to place eager to see and show Vivian all the amazing sights.
Vivian for her part was enjoying herself too. The first place Sofia brought her was a display on magical music, which she of course enjoyed. But she was also intrigued by one on dragons, and struck up a conversation with a witch running a booth on magical plants. Even buying seeds for some flowers like the ones she'd once had in her childhood garden.
Excitedly pointing out each amazing sight that crossed their view, they were abruptly interrupted by a low growl. Sofia blushing shyly as she covered her stomach.
Vivian chuckled, "Maybe we should get something for lunch."
They bought pastries at one of the vendors. Being sure to grab extra for Cedric too. Tables had been set up at a designated dining area for those who wanted to use them. But the two women opted for a more private location, beneath a shady tree, just a little ways outside the camp.
Vivian finished the last bite of her muffin, and sighed. Watching the magical feats still visible at this distance.
"Are you having a good time?"
"Mmm hmm," leaning back to rest her head in Sofia's lap. "Thanks for bringing me along this year."
"I'm glad," sounding a bit relieved. "I know magic isn't as much your thing as it is mine and Cedric's..."
Vivian reached up to touch her cheek, giving her a soft assuring smile. "It's okay, even if I don't fully understand it. If it's important to the both of you, then it's important to me," her expression softening further. "Because I love you both."
Sofia returned the gesture, "We love you too," she answered. Feeling confident enough in Cedric's feeling to answer for him as well.
She leaned down slightly, Vivian rising up to meet her lips as they let world fall away for a moment.
Things had been going well for Cedric so far. His booth having received quite a number of interested visitors; and by the sight of two familiar figures, they were about to get better.
"Hey Cedric," Vivian announced, "We brought you something," handing him the remaining pastries
"Thank you," taking a bite of sweet roll.
"We'll take over for a bit, so you can eat." Sofia added.
He nodded, mouth still full. Giving them a thumbs up to express his gratitude.
The three of them ended up manning the booth together until late afternoon, at which point all the sorcerer's who had new spells to share were called forward to do so.
"You'll do great!" Sofia assured him.
"Remember the Sorcerer's Secret," added Vivian.
He gave them both appreciative looks, then headed for the stage to wait his place in line with the others.
"And now Cedric the Sensational!"
As the curtains flew black his usual his nervousness came in. But a look at the crowd and finding two encouraging smiles helped set him right again.
Taking a breath, he started forward...
Success!
Cedric received an award for his spell, personally delivered to him by Merlin himself. The elation of which nearly caused him to faint, had Sofia and Vivian not been there to catch him.
At home he conjured them up a large feast of their favorite foods. Which came in handy as there was a surprise visit from Goodwin and Winifred. The elderly couple having heard of their son's success from Marshak. Vivian set a tune, enchanted instruments following along; and between the music, magic, and food the small celebration lasted well into the night.
The first to finally succumb to sleep after Cedric's parents left was Sofia. Her head resting in Vivian's lap, as the other woman gently stroked her curls. Humming softly.
"Tired isn't she?" Cedric remarked with a smile, "Guess you can't blame her. What with all the trouble we cause."
Vivian stifled a laugh to keep from waking her, "Well one of us does."
He chuckled, waving his wand to cast a feather light charm on Sofia before gathering her in his arms, "I'll bring her to bed."
Setting her upon the mattress he watched fondly as she snuggled into the pillows.
"Sleep well, dearest," he whispered tucking her in.
He returned to Vivian who had retrieved some small packages from her bag. Joining her on the sofa, and conjuring up a a small pot of tea.
"Here you are," pouring her a cup.
"Thanks," savoring the brew.
He took a sip of his own, his eyes traveling to the items she'd set on the table.
"What's that?"
"Some seeds I bought at the conference," she explained. "I thought we could plant them out in the garden together tomorrow."
He nodded, yawning. That would be something they could all enjoy together.
"Are you tired too?" she asked.
"A bit," he admitted. "But I can spare a few moments with you."
She smiled, as he kissed her. The rest of their evening spent in light chatter as the fireplace crackled before them. Before finally joining Sofia for bed.
A/N: So this was a bit different. As most of you know, Cedfia is my OTP in Sofia the First. That being said, while I do consider just they two together to be superior, I am open to polyships; and given that I like the fun headcanon of Vivian developing a crush on Cedric after the events of 'Substitute Cedric', I thought to myself, "Ah, what the heck! Let's do a Cedric/Sofia/Vivian story for this episode's anniversary for a change!" Mix things up a bit.
So there you have it. Not sure I'll do another polyship like this again. But it's nice to try out something new every once in a while.
