A/N: This is related to the OneChicago crossover that aired on 10-16-19. I don't own any of the characters.
Infection
While the mysterious bacteria had Chicago's first responders working overtime to prevent total chaos, SVU was at a bit of a lull. They had no open cases at the moment. Olivia was in her office and Fin and Amanda were at their desks. Fin had the TV on and they were watching the coverage on what was going on in Chicago.
"Hey, Liv."
"Yeah."
Olivia came out of her office.
"Have you seen this?"
Olivia looked at the TV and they even turned up the volume.
"Wow! No wonder I haven't heard from Hank. We're going."
Olivia made reservations for the 3 of them and contacted Chief Garland to explain the situation to him before they all went home to pack. Olivia contacted Lucy to get Noah after school and then she contacted the school to get word to Noah that Lucy would be picking him up and that she was going to Chicago. Olivia went to pick up for Fin and Amanda before they headed to the airport to wait for their flight.
Several hours later, they arrived in Chicago. They got their luggage and went to get the rental car. Fin drove to the 21st District. When they got closer to downtown Chicago, they could hardly believe what they were seeing. There was hardly any traffic. They arrived at the District and went in. Trudy had been briefing the Patrol Officers on what they were supposed to do. Olivia, Fin and Amanda made their way to the stairs.
"We're here to help."
"I'm sure Hank will appreciate that."
Trudy took them up.
"Hank, help has arrived."
"Good. We can use all the help we can get. Thank you for coming out here."
"Anything for you. You know that."
Hank kissed Olivia and then he filled them in the best he could before he, Olivia and Jay headed to the parade route. Fin, Amanda and everyone else went wherever they were told to go. When Hank, Olivia and Jay arrived at the parade route, along with 51, they could not believe what they were seeing. The streets were completely empty. They were all standing there staring at the emptiness.
"Hank, this is creepy."
"You're tellin' me."
"Well, it's a good thing that no one showed up here."
"Yep."
They left and headed back to the Fire Station or the District. They found out where Seldon was. Hank sent Jay ahead and 51 headed there as well. Jay arrived and informed Hank that Seldon had hostages. The rest of Intelligence and SVU arrived on the scene and Hank told Hailey to go on the roof of the adjacent building to try to get a shot. Jay kept his phone in his pocket but kept the line open, so Hank knew exactly what was going on. He went in to the room and had to give Seldon his weapon. Everyone else, including Will was outside the Conference Room. Seldon wanted Jay to cut himself to prove he trusted him. Jay did it but Hailey had taken a shot and Hank finished Seldon off by putting two bullets in his chest.
"Halstead, you ok?"
"Yeah."
Will came in and bandaged Jay's arm and then everyone headed back to the District or wherever else they were going. Once the day was over, mostly everyone went to Molly's, including Fin and Amanda. Hank and Olivia decided to join everyone for a little while.
"What a day this has been!"
"That's the truth. Glad you're ok, Upton."
"Me too. I was scared but when everyone else broke out of isolation, I stayed put."
"Is the girl ok?"
"Yeah. She's gonna be fine."
"Good. At least they got her treatment quick enough."
"I'm glad they did too. I told her or her grandma to let me know when she is being release, so I can go see her."
"Good. How long are you three staying?"
"We're at a bit of a lull right now, so maybe I'll stay through the weekend. Can I talk you into coming to New York for a few days?"
"Maybe."
"Just maybe? Noah misses you."
"Yeah, I miss him too."
"Just him?"
"Smart ass!"
"Love you too!"
"You know I miss you. It's getting harder for us to be apart."
"I know it is. That's why I think I need to stay here a few days, so we can have time together without Noah. We also have to start talking about wedding plans."
"I know we do. At least we agreed on a date."
"Because we has to book the venue."
"When is it?"
"Valentine's Day."
"When are you retiring, Sarge?"
"End of the year. That way I can have time to get moved and settled in by the wedding."
"We also have the closing coming up too."
"Middle of November, right?"
"Yes."
"What are you getting?"
"We bought a condo. I'm tired of dealing with a landlord. This condo is so amazing. There are a lot of amenities, including an exercise room with an indoor pool and there's indoor parking. Noah is really excited about having a pool. He already wants to have a pool party. They do have a party room as well. We saw quite a few kids living there and one of the friends he has made in dance class lives there, so he's happy about that. I found that out when I was waiting for Noah and we started talking. She said she can take him to class if we're ever in a bind. I told her that Hank and I were getting married on Valentine's Day and that we would be gone for a couple weeks. I said we had someone staying with him, since Erin is but sometimes her schedule and Lucy's schedule conflict, so I told her that if there's a problem, I will have Lucy call her."
"That's great. How is his dance class going?"
"Great. He really loves it. Let me show you this."
Olivia pulled up the info on the condo they were buying on her phone and showed everyone.
"Oh, wow! That is gorgeous!"
"Thanks. We really love it. I'm actually looking forward to having more space and it's a little closer to the Precinct for me. Noah will still be able to go to the same school."
"Where's the honeymoon?"
"We're going on a cruise."
"Wow! That sounds like it'll be fun."
"We hope it will be. You look like you're about to fall asleep."
"I am."
"We can head home and then I'll make us some sandwiches or something for dinner."
"Ok."
"Fin and Amanda, check in with me in the morning."
"Got it, Liv!"
"Goodnight, everyone."
"Goodnight."
Hank and Olivia got up and then Hank took her hand before they walked out. Olivia drove home and then once they arrived, she went to make them some sandwiches. They ate and then Hank went to take a shower. When he was done and got ready for bed, Olivia went to take a shower as well, while Hank put the TV on. He didn't want to watch the news, since most of it was about the case he had spent the entire day working on. He shut the TV off and relaxed in bed. He shut his eyes and was sound asleep before Olivia came out of the shower. Once she was ready for bed, she joined Hank in the bedroom. She noticed he was asleep. She got into bed, kissed Hank's forehead, snuggled next to Hank and fell asleep herself.
The next morning, they got up and had breakfast. They got dressed and called Noah. Fin and Amanda left the following day in case things picked up for them and Olivia ended up staying through Sunday, so Hank ended up taking the rest of the week off to spend with her. Neither of them really realized how worn out their jobs were making them. Hank took Olivia to the airport and as usual, saying goodbye was getting harder for them but Hank only had a couple more months left until he was retired and could be with Olivia and Noah all the time. He decided to take a few days off to spend the weekend in New York with Olivia and Noah.
