Guest: Wendy's not joining the harem. Ever.
Chapter 03: Dragon Siblings, Reunite!
Bob's Villa, Fiore - X784
"I think I see it!" Wendy Marvell cheered as she finally spied the Blue Pegasus building that was supposed to be the meeting place for the allied Guilds. "I wonder what the others are going to be like."
"Considering that each of the Guilds are sending at least one S-Class Mage, they'll most likely be quite interesting characters." Bell April shrugged as he and Carla followed after Wendy sedately, compared to her energetic pace. "Master at least assured us that Fairy Tail Master Makarov sent a Dragon Slayer. Whether it's Natsu or Gajeel, it'll be nice to reconnect with them."
Wendy nodded in agreement, before running ahead. "I think I can smell him already!"
"Don't go tripping now." Bell called after her. 'Now, then. How do I get to start off our reunion? Should I let Wendy lead? She's more approachable than me, after all. Or maybe I should do it. Whether it's Natsu or Gajeel, those two are always up for a fight, and I was usually the only one that ever beat them back then...'
"Would you stop being so indecisive?" Carla suddenly sniffed, accurately guessing Bell's thoughts. "When you meet them again, just jog their memories of the time you lived together. If that was how it went for you and Wendy, why would it be any different for the others?"
"...aw, you can be quite helpful when you aren't being so bossy." Bell teased as he scratched the top of Carla's head. "Thanks, Carla."
"Release me at once!" Carla hmphed as she flew out of his reach. "Ah, Wendy's reached the building."
"Then, let's join her."
When Bell and Carla finally entered into the villa, it was to the sight of Wendy blushing while she gingerly brushed her scuffed knees. "You tripped, huh."
"I-It was the carpet's fault!" Wendy stammered. "It was scattered about and made me lose my footing. I'm almost sure it was moving a bit, even."
"Oops." A buxom woman with loose pink hair quietly whispered. Of course, to the dragon slayers enhanced hearing, it wasn't quiet enough.
"Bell-dono." A musclebound bald man greeted Bell fondly. "It is reassuring to see you here."
"Likewise, Jura." Bell greeted back as they shook hands. "So you're the S-Class that old hag sent?"
"Oración Seis is a great enough threat that Master decided that sending her strongest mage was appropriate." Jura replied before sighing. "Although, I'm a bit sure that she might have just wanted to show me off."
"Of course, she did." Bell sighed in agreement. "Oh, well. Let's get along for this mission."
"Naturally." Jura Neekis turned to regard the others. "With this, all four guilds have gathered."
"Hold on a minute." A young man with silver hair interrupted Jura while staring at Bell and Wendy. "You. What's your relationship with our ace?"
Bell raised an eyebrow. "And you are?"
"Lyon Vastia." The man introduced himself, before thumbing back at the woman in pink. "And she's Sherry Blendy. As members of Lamia Scale, we'd like to know how Jura-san is so close to someone who's essentially a stranger."
"Do not be rude, Lyon." Jura clapped Bell's shoulder. "Despite his guild not being focused on combat as much ours's is, he's still someone who was a candidate to become a Wizard Saint just like I was."
"What?!" Lyon wasn't the only one to step back in surprise. "He's as strong as you?!"
"Ah! I knew I recognized you from somewhere!" The blonde woman suddenly exclaimed, gaining everybody's attention. "You're Leviathan Bell! The strongest water mage in the continent! There were arguments and rumors in whether you were in a guild or not, and even if you were actually a Wizard Saint!"
The blonde suddenly stopped when she saw everyone staring at her. "A-Ah, well... I guess I now know that that Wizard Saint rumor was partly true."
"Yeah... yeah..." Bell gave the blonde an appreciative lookover before regarding the others as he readjusted his cloak. "I think introductions are in order if we're going to be working together on this joint mission. I'm Bell April. As that cute blonde said, I'm also known as Leviathan. As for the main magic I use, I'm the Sea Dragon Slayer."
"Dragon Slayer?!" Most of the group, excluding Jura, exclaimed in surprise. A familiar face with pink hair was more expressive in his shock, giving Bell and Wendy piercing looks.
"I'm Wendy Marvell. I don't think I have a cool nickname yet, but I'm the Sky Dragon Slayer."
"I'm Carla. Other than Aera magic, I can use Transformation to transform into a more suitable form for combat."
"I wonder how we know so little of a guild with two Dragon Slayers..." Erza Scarlet muttered before shaking her head. "No matter. I'm Erza Scarlet, the S-Class mage representing Fairy Tail. Along with being called Titania, I use Requip magic involving blades."
"I'm Natsu Dragneel, the Fire Dragon Slayer!" Natsu approached Bell and Wendy. "Do you guys know what happened on the July 7th?! Do you know where Igneel and the other dragons went?!"
"Wendy and I will talk to you after the introductions." Bell assured Natsu. "We don't know where our dragons are, but we probably still know more than you and we'll fill you in."
"...fine." Natsu crossed his arms and stalked off, digging his nose into the scaly scarf around his neck. "You're up, Lucy."
"A-Ah, right. I'm Lucy Heartfilia." The blonde introduced herself nervously. "I'm a Celestial Spirit Mage."
"I'm Gray Fullbuster. I use Ice-Make."
"I'm Happy!" A blue cat similar to Carla flew over to Carla's side with a fish in his hands and hearts in his eyes. "I use Aera like you, Carla. Do you want some of my fish?"
"No. Stay away from me, male cat."
"To those who many not know of me, I am Jura Neekis. They call me Iron Rock, most likely due to the strength of my Earth magic."
"Once again, I'm Lyon Vastia. Similar to Gray, I use Ice-Make magic. In case you're wondering, I'm the stronger one."
"Like hell you are!"
"I'm Sherry Blendy. For the sake of Love, I use Doll Attack magic."
"I guess it is our turn now. I am Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki, men. I am a magnificent practitioner of Parfum Magic, men."
"So that's why you smell weird."
"Th-That's rude, Bell-nii! The others are just fine with him."
"I'm not."
"I hate him for more than just his smell."
"Natsu-san... Erza-san..."
"Don't go looking down on our senpai, okay? I am Hibiki Lates of the Hundred Nights, a prodigious user of Archive magic."
"Eve Tearm of the Holy Night. With my Snow Magic, I will take you to the ends of white paradise."
"Ren Akatsuki of the Silent Night. My Air Magic will surely be reliable to all of you ladies."
"Now that introductions are over-"
"I know, I know." Bell cut off Natsu, wrapping an arm around his shoulder as he dragged him off to the side. "Wendy, come here."
"You..." Natsu frowned, as if already gearing himself up for disappointment. "You do know Igneel, right?"
"Yeah, I know him." Bell nodded. "And Grandeeney, Metalicana, Weisslogia, Skiadrum, and of course, my dragon who is called Merctulia."
"You know Gajeel's dragon, too?!" Natsu's fear disappeared. There was nothing but hope in his expression, making Bell regret that he would have to destroy it. "Where is they?!"
"I was getting to that." Bell held a hand to the pinkette's shoulder to brace him. "I don't know."
"Then why did you say you knew where they were?!"
"I never said that! I said I knew who our dragons are!" Bell snapped. "There's a difference!"
Natsu still looked confused, but at least he was visibly calming down.
"I don't know where our dragons are now, but we need to jog the memories you lost before July 7th. It'll be a lot to take in-"
"Memories I lost?" Natsu interrupted. "About Igneel? I wouldn't have forgotten anything about Igneel! Tell me what you mean!"
"Calm down, Natsu." Lucy patted Natsu reassuringly, which seemed to do the trick. "You should let Bell-san finish talking."
"Yeah, this is the hugest lead you've gotten in all the time I've known you." Gray added.
"What I'm trying to tell you is that on the date July 7th X777, all six of us Dragon Slayers arrived here in Earthland at various locations, with the spell that transported us having messed with our memories." Bell stated. "I know it sounds strange, but none of what I'm telling you is a lie."
Despite his apparent bullheadedness, Natsu made a valiant attempt to wrap his head around the situation. He stood there with his brows creased and unconsciously began to press his nose into his scarf. Then the belligerence returned, a fire in his eyes indicative of his element and his stubbornness.
"I wanna know!" The cry came out like a challenge, but it was desperate, too. "I can't forget anything about Igneel! Tell me what you're talking about!"
"Four hundred and seven years ago, six Dragon Slayers met together in Alakitasia for the last time. It was supposed to be like a coming-of-age rite, where we separated from our dragons to go travel around the world. We knew each other, fought each other and were basically all siblings without any blood relations. And while our dragons were our mentors and parents in most of our cases, Anna-sensei was our teacher for most of the other stuff."
"Other stuff?" Natsu asked.
"How to read and write, how to live in the wilds, how to mend the clothes she gave us." Bell gestured at the white scarf. "She's even the one who made that."
"What?!" Natsu clutched the cloth defensively. "Igneel's the one who made this!"
"No, Igneel's the one who provided the scales and materials for it. Anna-sensei was the one who sewed it all into a scarf." Bell corrected. "Merctulia and Grandeeney were the only dragons who bothered to learn how to transform into human forms. And even then, they were horrible at craftmanship."
"You know, this makes more sense, now." Happy crossed his arms. "I always kinda wondered how a dragon as big as Natsu described would've been able to make a scarf."
"You were always pretty good at roughing it out..." Gray hummed thoughtfully. "But you could never tell us where or who you learned your skills from..."
Natsu frowned. "Who's Anna-sensei?"
Bell and Wendy recoiled in shock. "Y-You don't know?!"
"Should I?"
"But your friend here looks so much like Anna-sensei." Wendy pointed at Lucy's face. "They even share the same surname, too."
"What? Lucy's Lucy! She doesn't look like..." Natsu trailed off when he gazed at Lucy's face, before the indignance was slowly replaced with horror. "Wait… why did I..."
Natsu's eyes grew manic as he fell to his knees and grabbed at his scarf. "How could I forget about them until now?!"
"Natsu?" Lucy gently patted his back. "You're talking... about the time before Igneel disappeared, right?"
Natsu shakily nodded. "Why didn't I remember any more? We spent so much time together before then! I even remember everything Igneel and Anna-sensei taught me! So why…"
"Hey, calm down, Natsu!" Erza stepped up, taking the boy's shoulders. "You're panicking. Calm down a little, it's perfectly normal to forget things from your childhood."
"It's not normal to forget your siblings!"
"It'll come back at it's own pace, Natsu-nii." Wendy gently patted his arm. "When I first met Bell-nii after crossing the Gate, it still took me around a year to remember everything. When we did it for Rogue and Sting, it only took him a bit lesser, so I'm sure you'll remember the rest soon."
"Rogue? Oh god, Rogue! Sting! Gajeel! You and Bell!" Natsu grabbed at his hair. "How could I forget you all?!"
Natsu punched the ground, cracking it apart. "Damnit!"
"Easy, Natsu-nii." Wendy gently took his hand into her own. "I know it's difficult, but-"
"Wendy?" Natsu looked at the bluenette like he was seeing her for the first time. "You're not tiny anymore!"
"What do you think you're saying to a girl?!" Lucy chastised as she smacked Natsu in the back of his head.
Thankfully, Wendy was more amused than offended while Bell went on to explain everything else.
"So... Let me get this straight." Gray crossed his arms as he and his guildmates stood close by, with the other guilds bad at pretending that they hadn't been listening in. "Natsu and you guys got sent into this time period form four hundred years ago."
"Yup." Bell nodded. "From Alakitasia to Fiore. I knew that the Gate was supposed to send us to random spots around the world, but not across time, too."
"And Gajeel and Natsu were supposed to have known each other from before?" Lucy's brows furrowed. "And your teacher was supposedly my ancestor?"
"Yeah." It was Natsu that answered this time. "Even though we'd never met before Hargeon, I did wonder why I got attached to you so quickly. You smell different, but you really, really, really, really look like a young version of Anna-sensei."
"Speaking of which, you say that you that this 'Anna' was supposed to have followed after you?" Erza spoke up this time.
"Seven years ago, Wendy, Sting and Rogue would've been just five years old." Bell answered. "Even before we went through, I don't think that Anna-sensei would have left such young kids alone in the world. If I'm remembering what she said correctly, I don't think the three of them were meant to be separated from her."
"As fascinating as your tale is, I believe that we must continue on with what we gathered here for." Ichiya smoothly interjected as he returned from the toilet and posed on a small lit platform. As soon as the others gathered around him, he began to explain the mission. "The Worth Woodsea spreads out from here to the north. Ancient people sealed an extremely powerful magic spell inside the woodsea. It's name is... Nirvana!"
'Nirvana...?' Bell frowned. 'Have I heard of that before?'
"Bell." Carla hummed from his shoulder. "Do you think Master would have an idea about this? Most of our guildmates are descended from the owners of this land, Master included."
"Possibly, but it's not like Master wouldn't have told us if he believed it would be relevant." Bell shrugged. "Ichiya did just say that the magic is sealed."
"Nirvana was supposedly destructive enough that the ancients believed it was required to seal it." Ren supplied. "That's basically all we know."
"We don't actually know what kind of magic it is." Eve added.
"Destruction magic, maybe?" Erza guessed. "A magic of that type seems like it would take less trouble to seal rather than destroy."
"The reason that Oración Seis has gathered in the woodsea must be to get their hands on Nirvana." Hibiki explained.
"And in order for us to stop them..." Ichiya finished as he and the Trimens spoke and posed together. """"...we will attack Oración Seis!""""
Lucy deadpanned. "And there they go posing again..."
"On our side, we have 15, which includes 4 S-Class Mages." Ren stated. "Oración Seis composes of 6."
"But we can't underestimate them." Eve spoke gravely. "Our enemies are totally composed of one of the three strongest Dark Guilds."
Snapping his fingers, Hibiki used his Archive to display all of the data he had collected so far. "The wizard who uses poison while possessing a snake familiar... Cobra."
Cobra was a man with spiky maroon hair, a grin with prominent fangs and slanted eyes. His outfit consisted of an elaborate whitish coat with purple inner lining and cuffs with metal armbands, a dark shirt, and a pair of crimson leather pants.
Natsu instantly pointed out. "What an obvious bad guy! Look at those slanted eyes!"
Bell instantly refuted him. "Other than Wendy, we all have slanted eyes!"
"Thought to use speed magic like his name implies... Racer."
Racer was a tall, long-faced man with blond and black hair; the blonde, central part of his hair being styled in a long, spiky mohawk and the black portion being very close-shaven. He was dressed in a red and white racing outfit.
"He's a mage that once wiped out an entire military unit due to the large profit he got from it... Hoteye of the Heavenly Eyes."
Hoteye was a large and imposing man with... a weirdly geometrical appearance.
"Hmm?" Erza tilted her head in curiosity. "He reminds me of someone..."
"The woman said to peer into your very heart... Angel."
Angel seemed to be a beautiful woman of small stature, with pale skin, brown eyes and short silvery hair. As her codename suggested, her attire was evocative of the conventional image of an angel, albeit the deep, revealing v-cut evoked other types of imagery.
"Bell-nii, don't fight this woman." Wendy warned with utmost seriousness.
"You make it sound like she's the first attractive woman I've ever fought." Bell huffed as he crossed his arms.
"She certainly won't be the first you flirted with in the middle of a battle." Carla chastised.
"We don't have much information about this guy, but he's frequently referred to as Midnight. And yes, we've never gotten an instant of him not being asleep."
Midnight seemed to be a young man with spiky black and white hair, being dressed in a black leather vest with white fur trimming, a pair of yellow pants with black designs on them and burgundy boots. He was also asleep on a floating carpet.
"Then, the control center for them all... Brain."
Possessing a tall and muscular body, Brain had neat silver hair that reached his shoulders, black eyes and dark skin. He also had unique markings on his face that took the shape of straight black lines.
"As their Guildmaster, would that make Brain one of the three strongest Dark Mages of the era?" Bell mused.
"All the more reason to be wary, Bell-dono." Jura's eyes narrowed. "Compliance is the enemy."
"Each of these people possesses enough power to destroy an entire guild." Hibiki finished up and dismissed the images. "That's why we'll be using our own numbers to our advantage."
"Um..." Lucy shook nervously as she raised a hand. "I think it might be best if you didn't count me..."
"Huh?" Natsu looked at her, totally confused. "Why not? You're hella strong, Lucy!"
"It's my spirits that are strong!" Lucy rebutted. "Not me!"
"Fighting isn't my main repertoire..." Wendy chuckled weakly.
"Wendy!" Carla snapped. "Just because you're weak compared to Bell doesn't mean that you're weak on the average scale!"
"Do not worry!" Ichiya posed again. "Our plan does not simply involve fighting. All we have to do is find their base of operations."
"Ah, yes... Thanks for reminding us, captain." Hibiki looked through his Archive again before displaying an image of the woodsea. "We've conjectured that they have a temporary base somewhere in the woodsea."
"If it's possible, I'd like us to get them all into their base." Ichiya continued as he struck a different pose.
"But how?" Gray asked.
"By whacking them, duh!" Natsu roared.
"So that means fighting, of course." Lucy deadpanned.
Erza however crossed her arms in thought. "What will we do when they're all there?"
Ichiya struck another pose. "We will use our guild's pride and joy, Christina, to wipe the base off the face of the planet!"
Lucy's eyes widened to an uncomfortable width. "W-We're killing them right off the bat?!"
"We have to." Jura stated in strong agreement. "Our enemies are that powerful!"
"Lucy, if you're uncomfortable with the idea of taking lives, you can join Wendy and Carla in support roles." Bell advised. "Our enemies for the day are top class Dark Mages. They aren't the kind of guys you can fight while holding back your punches."
"I-I understand." Lucy grimaced.
"Do not be so shaken, Lucy-dono. If we gain a chance to apprehend them without taking their lives, we shall still do so." Jura assured her before addressing the others. "That being said, make sure that no matter which member of Oración Seis is encountered, they're are never to be engaged by your lonesome!"
There were various sounds of agreement from them all.
However...
"Okay, let's do this!" Natsu smashed his fist into his palm, promptly igniting it in his excitement and using said blazing fist to smash a hole through the building's entrance. "I'll take all six of them on at onceeeeeeeeeee!"
"Natsu, what the fuck?! That's the exact opposite of Jura's orders!" Bell yelled after Natsu's disappearing form. "And here I was worried about if he was too different from the time I knew him!"
"I'm sorry about him." Erza apologized to the Sea Dragon Slayer before turning to her guildmates. "Jura's order still stands. After that moron!"
"Man, that idiot!" Gray chided. Even so, he still ran forward after Natsu along with Erza and Lucy.
"We can't let Fairy Tail have all the fun." Lyon commented before running after them. "Let's go, Sherry!"
"Right!" Sherry happily followed after Lyon.
"Lyon! Sherry!" Jura's calls went unheeded, with even the Trimens following after the group.
"Bell-nii?" Wendy turned to address Bell, who shrugged and waved her off. "Alright, then! Let's go, Carla! I want to see Natsu-nii's fighting style."
"Very well, then." Carla latched on to Wendy's back and flew off, easily keeping pace with the others.
"W-Wait for me!" Happy cried as he flew after Carla. "Don't leave me behind."
"My, my..." Jura sighed as he walked up to Bell's side. "They're so eager."
"Men..."
"It can't be helped." Bell shrugged. "Let's just consider the operation started and go after them."
"Before that, Jura-san and Bell-san..." Ichiya posed for the fifth(?) time. "Pardon my curiosity, but as Wizard Saint-level Mages, is it that you're both powerful enough to rival even Titan Makarov?"
"Oh, not even close." Jura considered the idea ridiculous. "As far as I'm concerned, I'm the newest and weakest of them all."
"And I don't even know how I'd rank around someone like Jura." Bell playfully elbowed Jura's arm. "In the exam where we were supposed to fight each other, I had to ditch due to an emergency."
"Oh. That's quite a relief to hear." Ichiya brought out a vial from his jacket before popping it open. "If either of you were really as powerful as Makarov, I would have been in quite the trouble."
Sensing the danger, Bell instantly tried to back away, only to bump into a cute pink haired woman with ram horns. "What the-"
"I-I'm sorry!" The woman cried before sweeping her arms forward, summoning a huge mass of pink wool that slammed into both Bell and Jura and drained their tension.
"[Wool Bomb!]"
"[Spirit Draining Parfum.]"
Under the combination of these two surprise attacking spells, Bell and Jura were brought down to their knees.
"What... the... hell...?" Bell grimaced as his enhanced sense of smell worked against him for once.
"Ichiya-dono..." Jura's staff clattered to the ground, it's owner barely able to stay conscious. "What is the meaning... of this...?"
"Piri-piri~"
"[Pain Parfum.]"
The pain that slammed into Bell was as intense as it was sudden and unexpected. From the moment he inhaled that red fragrance, it was like his very blood had been set ablaze from within, bubbling and itching to burst free from his veins.
Judging by the screams escaping Jura's throat, Bell wasn't alone in that belief.
"As expected of Wizard Saint-level mages, that wasn't enough to take you down. Normal people would've passed out immediately from that combo." A sultry voice teased Bell's ears as Angel approached them from inside the villa just as Ichiya suddenly poofed to reveal a pair of small floating twin creatures. "Then again, it's still nice to see such strong men on their knees before me."
"What happened to Ichiya?" Bell growled, trying to stand despite the magical wool holding him down.
"Oh, I just had Gemini here copy that dirty little man." Angel smirked. "Although, I do wonder about Blue Pegasus's standards, ranking somebody like him as S-Class. No matter, as I now know your entire plan thanks to him!"
"Gemini?" Bell's eyes widened as he stared at the floating twins. "The Celestial Spirit Twins?! That means..."
Bell turned around to regard the woman holding him down, ignoring her attractive features as his eyes focused on the symbol of her belt. "Aries the Ram! Angel, you're a Celestial Spirit Mage?!"
"Right-o~" Angel teased, tilting her shoe under Bell's chin so that she could see his glare head-on. "Any last words?"
"Yeah..." Bell growled as he bared his teeth. "You... Are your panties as feathery as what I'm looking at? Or are they the black lacey type? I can't tell from this angle."
"...huh?"
Seeing the very moment when Angel's thought process came to a screeching halt, Bell inhaled and pointed his mouth downwards.
"[Sea Dragon's Tidal Shockwave!]"
The deluge that erupted from his mouth splashed down on everyone, human and spirit alike being washed away.
Taking advantage of the confusion, Bell grabbed Jura and ran off into the forest. "As expected of a Dark Mage of her rank, a Celestial Mage who can perform Dual Summon, with Golden Gate Keys at that..."
"My apologies for my weakness, Bell-dono..." Jura groaned, unable to do more than be carried over Bell's shoulder. "To think that the enemy would aim to strike right at the strongest of us first..."
"That only proves that Oración Seis is several cuts above the usual Dark Guilds we fight." Bell answered, following Wendy and Carla's scents as best as he could. "Just concentrate on recovering your strength, Jura. With just her lonesome and careful planning, Angel almost succeeded in taking out three S-Class Mages. The others will be in serious trouble if we don't hurry!"
"Of course...!"
KingVessel: And we're off into Canon! See you next time!
