A/N: I just recently went through this. This takes place now but Antonio is still around and Tucker and Al are both still alive. There will probably be another chapter to this one. I don't own any of the characters except my own.
The Perfect Place
Hank and Olivia were finally looking for a place that was theirs. They had gotten married over a year ago but were still living in Olivia's apartment. House hunting was not easy. They had to find something they all liked and had room for Olive and Daniel when they came to visit, so it needed at least 4 bedrooms. Olivia didn't want to be too far from the Precinct and Noah preferred it be near the same school he attended. They had already looked at several brownstones. One place Olivia thought the bedrooms were too small and one place Hank thought was way too big. So, far, they were unable to agree on something. Noah was getting bored and wanted to go home.
"Can we go home?"
"Not yet, Sweetie. We still have a few more to look at."
"This is so boring. Can't you just agree on something already?"
"This place has to be perfect."
"I like them all if that helps."
Olivia rolled her eyes and Hank shook his head.
"Hank, you're the one who is being unreasonable about this. All these places are going to be big."
"Two or three floors is sufficient. Not five or six. You're the one bitching about the bedrooms not being big enough."
"Why are we fighting about this? We're in this together."
"I know. I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too."
They went through the place they were currently at with the Realtor.
"Hank, I think this is it."
"I agree. This is a perfect size. What about the bedrooms?"
"I like the size. Noah, what do you think?"
"I like it."
"Are you just saying that because you want to go home?"
"No. This one really feels like home."
"I agree."
"Me too."
"We'd like to make an offer on this one."
"Ok."
The Realtor filled out the paperwork and they told him the amount they were offering. Once they were done, they went home, while the Realtor went back to his office to submit the paperwork with the bid. They had dinner and then Noah finished his homework. After he was done with his homework, he took his bath and got ready for bed. Hank and Olivia tucked him in and then they went into their bedroom to make love. Afterwards they were holding each other.
"I'm sorry I made this search so stressful."
"It's ok. I see where you're coming from. Two or three floors is perfect and the location is perfect too."
"The bedrooms looked like they were a good size as well."
"There's room for Olive and Daniel when they come stay with us and if the group from Chicago ever comes out, some of them can stay with us too if they want."
"That's possible."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
They kissed each other and then they fell asleep in each other's arms. The next morning, Olivia got up to get ready for work. After she was out of the shower, she made sure Noah was up. Hank got up and fixed breakfast and made Noah's lunch. After breakfast, Olivia and Noah brushed their teeth and then she took him to school after they both kissed Hank. After they left, Hank took a shower and cleaned up. He had gotten a text message from Ed asking if he wanted to meet for lunch. He replied back that he did and they set a time and place.
Hank left to meet Ed. When he arrived, Ed was waiting for him.
"Hey."
"Hey."
They went in, sat down and had their order taken.
"Have you found a place yet?"
"Yeah. We made an offer."
Hank found the listing on his phone and showed it to Ed.
"This looks nice."
"It looks nice in person too. It's not huge like the others we looked at have been. The bedrooms were big enough for Olivia, it's a little closer to the Precinct and Noah will be in the same school."
Olivia had come in and had planned to carry her food out but she saw Hank and Ed.
"Hey, guys."
"Hey, Babe."
"Hey, Liv."
Olivia sat down and kissed Hank. Their server came over and took Olivia's order once she decided what she wanted.
"Did you show Ed the place we made an offer on?"
"Yep."
"I like it."
"We did too. Poor Noah was getting so bored with looking at places."
"You can't blame him."
"Oh, I know."
Olivia's phone rang, so she answered it. After she was done talking, she hung up.
"That was the Realtor. Our offer was accepted."
"I'm glad."
"If Patty and I can do anything to help, let us know."
"We will. Thanks."
"I'll call Al and see if any of them can come out and help us move."
"I'm sure I can get help too. I'm sure I can get Lucy to come help pack stuff."
"I'm sure Erin will help too."
"We just need to get all the paperwork done for the mortgage and get the closing taken care of."
"When do you close?"
"Another month. We will pay another month and then I hope to be out of there by the end of next month."
"That sounds like a plan. I actually like owning something now. Living in the house is so much nicer than living in an apartment except that I have to fix everything when it breaks."
"That is Hank's thing too."
"Yep."
"I never figured you to be handy though."
"Me neither. Now that I'm retired, I have time for this stuff."
"That's me too. I never had time for all that when I was working. I don't miss working."
"I don't either. At least yet anyway. If I'm not doing something around the house, I'm driving the boys someplace or another."
"Yep. That sounds familiar. I'm usually taking Noah to his dance classes."
"At least he found something he likes to do."
"True. He's definitely not a bad dancer."
"When I found out that my former partner was back with the NYPD, I was telling him about Noah and he said Noah needs to be in something to toughen him up. I told him not to tell me how to raise my son. I can't force him to do something he doesn't want to do. He lost interest in baseball after Peter left and this is what he wants to do. He also didn't like the fact that I am friends with you and he thinks I should have waited around for him. I wouldn't want him if he was the only man on earth. I never had romantic feelings for him at any point. The less I have to do with him the better. Now I see why you were the way you were with him and the rest of us."
"I'm so glad I don't have to deal with him this time around. I don't give a crap what he thinks. I never have."
"I just hope I don't have to deal with him too much. Fin isn't too thrilled that he's back with the NYPD and Amanda and Kat were not that impressed by him. He's still full of himself and as smug as ever. I don't like that he retired for nearly a decade, came back, got promoted and is now running his own unit, while I had to work for my promotions as did Fin. Honestly, I would much rather work with Hank's old unit."
They continued talking and then their food arrived. After they were done eating, Olivia kissed Hank and headed back to work, while Hank and Ed both headed home. Hank went to pick Noah up at school and told him that their bid on the place they had looked at had been accepted. He seemed excited about it. They had dinner ready by the time Olivia got home. While Noah was watching TV after he finished his homework, Hank and Olivia worked on the mortgage stuff. Olivia had made sure Noah went to take his bath and then she and Hank put him to bed before going to bed themselves.
They had already started packing and within the next month, they had the closing for the new place. They couldn't wait to move.
