A/N: There will be a time jump in this chapter but it's still related to the last 3 that I posted. I don't own any of the characters except my own.

Making It Official

A couple months later…

Noah was out of school for the summer and they were planning to head to Chicago for Hank's retirement party. Erin was coming with them and Olive and Daniel were flying in for it as well. Olivia's squad was also coming but they were on a later flight. The flights from both New York and Phoenix were arriving at the same time. This was the first time Olive and Daniel were meeting Olivia and the kids. Everyone met in Baggage Claim.

"Auntie!"

"Hey, Buddy!"

Daniel ran up to Erin and gave her a hug. Olive caught up to him and hugged Erin.

"Hey."

"Hey. Olive and Daniel, this is Olivia Benson, Noah and Megan. Liv, Noah and Megan, this is Hank's daughter-in-law Olive and his grandson Daniel."

"It is so nice to finally meet you."

"You too."

"She looks so much like Hank."

"She does."

"Daniel, Megan is your aunt, just like me."

"Hi Megan."

"Hi Daniel."

"Hi Noah."

"Hi."

Once they got their luggage, they went to get their rentals. They drove to the District and went in.

"Hey, Trudy."

"Hey. It's good to see all of you. Hello, Miss Megan."

"Hi."

Hank had come upstairs after returning from Headquarters.

"Daddy!"

"Hey, you."

Hank picked Megan up and then he kissed Olivia before kissing Noah and Daniel and hugging Erin and Olive just as Sam walked in.

"Sergeant."

"Deputy."

"Captain."

"Ma'am."

"So, how is this case coming?"

"The rest of the squad is working on it. I am not getting involved with any of the cases. Halstead has everything under control."

"Ok. You did all your paperwork, I assume?"

"I did. That's where I just came back from."

"What are your tentative plans?"

"I'm planning to focus on being a full-time dad. I have 4½ years that I need to make up for with my daughter."

"I need to speak to both you and Captain Benson in your office."

"Ok."

Hank handed Megan to Erin and then he, Olivia and Sam headed upstairs, while Erin, Olive and the kids stayed with Trudy. They got to his office and he shut the door. He let Sam sit at his desk, while he and Olivia sat on the sofa.

"I wanted to apologize for my behavior these last few months. I think I cared about you more than I was willing to admit and I was jealous when you ultimately chose Olivia. I should have been more understanding of your situation and I was not. I've never really been great in relationships."

"I've been there and done that. Believe me. Most of it for me though is trust issues. I had one ex that didn't want marriage and a family and my last one was there during the hardest part of my life while I was pregnant and not with my baby's father. He knew that I was never fully committed to him because I still had too much of a connection to Hank. Sometimes I even wonder how that even happened because he was with IAB. Hank was not too happy with me about that and basically told me to stay out of his life. I just had no idea how I was going to tell him about the baby. I've always been emotional but I was an emotional train wreck when I was pregnant. I'm surprised Ed put up with me as long as he did."

"I can see why Hank was hesitant about things with me. I asked him out, by the way. Is your last ex still in the picture?"

"No. He committed suicide a little over a year ago. We ended things when Megan was 3 months old and we really hadn't seen much of each other for 3 years."

Olivia told Sam what had happened with Ed.

"Oh, wow! I am so sorry."

"Thanks. It hit Noah harder than I expected though."

"How old is he?"

"He's 8½. He was just about 4 when Megan was born."

"It must have been hard for you to have to raise two kids on your own with the job you have."

"It is. I'm grateful for our nanny. Hank doesn't want that to change just because he's planning to be a full-time dad to both of them. Do you have kids?"

"No. I was married for a couple years. He wanted a family but I didn't, so we ended things. I wanted to focus more on my career."

"The thing I wanted most was to be a mother. I never had the best relationship with my own mother, so I wanted to be a better mother to my kids than she was to me. I doubt if my mother was alive that she'd be a part of my kids' lives. Nothing I ever did was good enough for her. She never thought I'd ever make anyone happy. Hank, the kids, his family and my squad are my family now. It just seems like everyone ends up leaving me. My former partner leaving turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me. I wouldn't be where I am now if he hadn't. That was 10 years ago. He and Hank have similar personalities but Elliot always made everything about him and I always got caught up in his family BS whether I wanted to or not. My relationship with him was so complicated anyway."

"You don't hear from him?"

Olivia told Sam what had happened with Elliot.

"Ok. I get it. How are you after what you had happen to you with William Lewis?"

"Sometimes he still likes to play games with my head."

"I get it. Amanda Rollins works with you, correct?"

"Yes. How do you know Amanda?"

"I was with the Atlanta PD until I transferred here. How is she?"

"She's doing better but it still bothers her sometimes. My squad will be here for Hank's retirement party."

"Why don't you come? We're having it at Molly's and bringing pizza in."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"You can catch up with Amanda and meet her girls."

"She has daughters?"

"Yep."

"Wow! Sure. Thanks. What time?"

"6."

"Ok. I will be there."

"Ok."

Trudy came up with everyone else just as Sam was leaving.

"That wasn't as bad I was figuring it would be."

"Yeah, really. She's been better as far as our work relationship goes but she rarely mentions what happened that night."

"That's a good thing."

"Yeah, it is."

"I can't believe she knows Amanda."

"I know."

"Fin is bringing his fiancée. I hope that's ok."

"That's fine. We're not really keeping track of how many people are coming. It's basically my squad, Trudy, the group from 51, your squad, the family and now Sam. Some of the group from Med may stop by too like Will Halstead, Maggie and her husband Ben, Sharon Goodwin and Dr. Charles."

"I invited Meredith but she's still mad at you."

"I know. I've tried talking to her. If I could have switched places with Al, I would have."

"Most of what happened is my fault."

"Erin, this was my problem."

"I was just as involved as you were."

"I feel like what happened to Al was all my fault."

"It's not. It's mine."

"The way I see it is Al would have done anything for either of you. That's who he was. Things weren't the best between him and Meredith after Lexi's death and maybe he felt Hank had more to look forward to in his life."

"After what had happened between me and Hank, Al had called me and I did tell him about Megan. This was before she was born."

"When I went to New York to be with Liv when she gave birth, he was the only one that knew where I was. Maybe Al did do what he did because he had hoped you would have eventually gotten to know your daughter."

"Yeah, maybe. I have no idea what I'm gonna do about asking someone to stand up at the wedding. I had hoped that would have either been Al or Justin if and when that time came. Now I have neither one around."

"I've been thinking about this. I don't want to make a big fuss about the wedding. We're all here, so why couldn't we just do this and get it over with? My squad will be here, the family is here and your squad is here. Let's just go get the license now."

"Are you 100% sure this is why you want?"

"Yes."

"Once we do this, you can't change your mind."

"I know that and I won't. I'm ready for this."

"After all this, you're sure you don't want a big wedding?"

"All I want is for us to be together. We can have a reception of some kind once you're settled in New York."

"Say yes, Daddy."

"How could you say no to that?"

"I can't. I wasn't really sure I wanted a big fuss either. All I want is for us to be a family."

"Good. Then let's go get a license, so we can get this over with. How soon would we be able to do this?"

"Tomorrow at the earliest. That depends on if I can get someone to do it. If not, we might have to wait until Monday. Why don't we go take care of that and then we can meet everyone to go shopping."

"Sounds like a plan."

Everyone left and then Hank and Olivia went to get their marriage license, while everyone else went to the hotel. They got the license and Hank made a call to one of the Judges he knew. Olivia also called her squad, so they knew ahead of time what was going on. Hank's stuff had already been picked up, so they went to the hotel where he was staying and then looked to see if they could arrange a honeymoon on short notice. They were able to book a suite on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu and decided to take the family. Once he booked it, they went to join everyone else.

"Hey."

"Hey. Can you two get a week off?"

"Wait, are you making your honeymoon a family thing?"

"Yeah. I was able to get everything arranged."

"Daniel and I were planning to go to New York with you, so I was already off for a week. We're in."

"I can call and get time off I'm sure. Where are we going?"

"Waikiki Beach in Honolulu."

"I am definitely in."

Erin called and requested the next week off and Olive canceled her and Daniel's plane reservations from Chicago to New York now to Thanksgiving instead.

"Ok. Daniel and I are now coming to New York for Thanksgiving."

"Great."

They all left and went shopping for stuff their trip and for the wedding. A few hours later when they were done, they headed back to the hotel to get ready for the party. Olivia's squad, including Phoebe, Chief Garland and his family, arrived in Chicago and headed to the hotel. Once everyone was checked in, they all met in the lobby.

"Hey, Liv."

"Hey."

"You're gettin' married!"

"I am."

"It's about damn time!"

Olivia rolled her eyes.

"Phoebe, Lamai, Abby, thank you so much for coming."

"You're welcome. Thank you for inviting us."

"So, where's the honeymoon gonna be, Liv?"

"Waikiki Beach."

Phoebe smacked Fin.

"Damn, woman!"

They all left and headed to Molly's. When they arrived, they got out of their vehicles.

"Amanda, Hank's boss knows you."

"Who's that?"

"Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller."

"Oh, no way!"

"Hank invited her to the party when she said she knew you."

"Isn't that the one he was seeing when you told him about Megan?"

"Yeah. It wasn't goin' anywhere anyway. My heart has always been with Olivia."

"Same."

Hank kissed Olivia and then he took her hand before they headed inside.

"There he is."

"Congratulations, Hank!"

"Thanks."

Hank went to talk to his squad, while Olivia went to sit down with the kids. Her squad sat down as well. A little bit later, Sam came in.

"Deputy."

"Sam please."

Olivia was introducing Chief Garland to everyone when she saw Sam and introduced her to Chief Garland as well. She motioned for Amanda to come over.

"Amanda."

"Hey, Sam."

"It is so good to see you."

"Yeah. You too."

"Olivia tells me you're a mom now."

"I am. They're names are Jesse and Billie."

"I'm really happy for you. You deserve it after what Chief Patton did to you. How do you like New York?"

"I like it."

"Good."

"How do you like it here?"

"It's been great. It's rough being a cop anywhere as you know.

"Yeah, I know."

You married?"

"No."

Amanda and Sam sat down and got caught up. Erin was catching up with the squad. A little while later, Adam and Kevin went to get the pizzas. Once they got back, everyone toasted Hank's retirement and then they all ate. Olivia noticed Sonny watching Amanda a lot. She got up and went over to where he was.

"Hey, Carisi."

"Hey, Liv."

"Thanks for being here. I know Hank really appreciates it."

"No problem."

"You should tell Amanda how you really feel about her."

"What?"

"It's quite obvious."

"She's made it perfectly clear that she never falls for good guys."

"You're there for her more than her daughters' fathers are and they are both crazy about you."

"Then we can't work together."

"You know what? I'm fine with it."

"I do care about her and the girls though but I'd have no chance."

"You know what I went through before I ended up finding my true happiness with Hank. I won't deny that I cared about Ed but he wasn't the father of my child and I didn't love him the way I loved Hank. I do miss him and I also got to know a side of him that not too many people even knew existed. Most of what happened between me and Hank was my fault because I never told him about his daughter and I deeply regret that. Put your feelings out there and let her know how you feel."

"Just so she can reject me?"

"Ok. I'm just trying to help."

"Yeah, I know. Thanks for tryin', Liv."

Olivia went back over to the family.

"He is so stubborn."

"It looks that way. I'm glad I'm not like that."

"Smart ass!"

Hank smirked at Olivia and then he kissed her.

"In less than 24 hours we will be married and in Hawaii with our family."

"I can't wait."

"I cannot believe the way Upton is hanging all over Jay and kissing him. Thanks for the warning."

"Unlike you and Halstead, I had no idea until recently. It's his unit now. You can do better than him anyway."

Kelly came over to them.

"Good luck in your retirement."

"Thanks, Severide."

"Any plans?"

"Yeah. We're making it official tomorrow and then spending the next week in Hawaii with our family."

"No kidding! Congratulations!"

"Thanks."

"Does everyone know?"

"Both squads and now you. That's it."

"I won't say anything. How are you, Erin?"

"I'm doing great. I recently found out that Hank is my dad."

"Wow!"

"I was surprised about that, yet I wasn't."

"How's your job?"

"It's great. I get to travel quite a bit."

"Great."

"How are things going with you and Stella?"

"Great, actually. She's been studying to take the Lieutenant's exam."

"Are you ok with that?"

"Yeah but I'm not helping her. I want her to earn it on her own."

"Where would they put her?"

"Probably still on Truck."

"Wow! That's great."

Everyone else from 51 and Med came over to see Erin and wish Hank well on his retirement. The only other people they told about them getting married was Boden and Mouch. They had cake and then the party broke up. Both Olivia, Olive, Lamai and Amanda needed to get their kids to bed, so Hank said goodbye to everyone and then he left with his family and Olivia's squad. Everyone but Billie was pretty wound up by the time they got back to the hotel. They took them to the pool to wear them down before bed. Olivia needed to talk to Amanda anyway.

"Amanda, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, Liv."

"How do you feel about Carisi?"

"You mean, do I have real feelings for him?"

"That is exactly what I mean."

"Actually, yeah, I do. He loves my girls and he gets me. I've never had anyone get me the way he does. I just have a habit of falling for the wrong type of guy and that gets me into trouble. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I slept with Declan and I should have dumped Al before I got pregnant with Billie. I just want someone who will love me and my girls. I've wanted to tell him how I really feel for a while now but I'm just afraid of messing things up."

"I know how that goes. This is what I have wanted all along but I was afraid to tell Hank about his daughter because I knew I had hurt him when I told him I was with Ed. As much as none of us ever got along with Ed over the years, he was not the same man he was when he arrested both of us."

"Yeah, I get that. His death was hard on me too. Even Fin took that pretty hard."

"His death was harder on me than when my ex-partner just up and left without a word 10 years ago."

"The one you compared Voight to when you first met?"

"Yeah and I'm sorry I did. While Hank and I didn't start out on the right foot when we met, he's not full of himself like my former partner was."

"Worse than Amaro?"

"Oh, yeah. Nick was basically the younger version of Elliot but like I told Nick at the party I had after I adopted Noah, I grew more in the 4 years I was with him than I did in the 12 years I was with Elliot. I meant that. I wouldn't be where I am now if he had stuck around. After what happened with Lewis, I found out who my friends were. Did I hear from Elliot when that happened? No. When I told Hank and Erin what happened, they had both heard about it. Elliot must have been living under a rock or something. You know what, I don't care anymore. He's dead to me. If someone from his family contacted me and said he was gone, I think I'd be ok with that. I don't hear from Nick all that often any more but we talked about a year ago and he said he had heard about Ed."

"He knew about you two?"

"He did. He actually knew before the rest of you did. He had told me that his phone would always be on. I called him after what had happened with Hank. I also called him after I found out I was pregnant. For a while there, I was hearing from him all the time and he kept trying to get me to tell Hank about her. He was trying to be as supportive of me as he could but he wasn't happy with me for being with Ed especially when he knew how I felt about Hank and the fact that Hank was the father of my baby. I totally take the blame for what happened these last 5 years but after these last couple months, I don't think my life could be better with anyone but Hank. This is as perfect as it gets. At least for me anyway. I loved Brian but he never wanted marriage and kids and I never saw Ed as someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I'm glad he was a part of my life and was so supportive of me during my pregnancy. I do miss him a lot and probably always will."

"This is the happiest you have been since Megan was born."

"Yeah, I know. I cannot apologize to Hank enough for all of this and if I have to spend the rest of my life making it up to him, I will. I didn't expect him to handle it as well as he did but she took to him right away and he took to her right away."

"He was seeing Sam before you told him?"

"Yeah. He said it had been for only a little while and she was pissed with him for how he handled things. She ended up apologizing to us both. Did you work with her or you just knew her?"

"I knew her. She understands what I went through with Patton and why I needed to leave Atlanta. She said he clearly got what he deserved. She also knew that my family was another reason I had to leave. I'm tolerating my mother a little more now that she's in New York and she does help out with the girls too. It's been good for them having their grandma around. I'm glad Kim finally admitted she needed help and voluntarily went back to prison. I wanna believe she's gonna do it this time but she's burned me so many times that it is so hard to know what to believe with her any more.

"The first step is admitting she had a problem, which she did. She wants to do right by her son. We all want to do right by our children."

"I know I do."

"I tried but I was afraid of him rejecting her because he was so mad at me. It would have been hard for us to try to raise her in two different cities anyway, so I am glad he decided to change his life for us. Trevor is handling the adoption, since Hank wanted to adopt Noah and then once that's final, I will officially change our last name to Voight."

Hank swam up behind Olivia and kissed her neck.

"You ready to go upstairs? I convinced Erin to keep the kids for the night."

"You did, did you?"

"Yep."

"Then I guess I am. Goodnight, Amanda."

"Night, Liv."

Olivia went to say goodnight to the kids and then she and Hank went upstairs to their room. They took a shower and then they made love before falling asleep in each other's arms. Everyone else had gone up to their respective rooms and got ready for bed as well.

The next morning, woke up. They had set a time to meet for breakfast. Amanda got up with the girls and then she had decided she wanted to talk to Sonny. Before she had the girls ready, there was a knock on the door. She went to answer it.

"Sonny."

"Hey. Can we talk?"

"Sure. I was just thinkin' the same thing."

Sonny came in and sat down.

"I saw you talkin' to Liv last night."

"Yeah. She was tryin' to point out the obvious."

"Which is?"

"I have feelings for you, Sonny. I know I said I don't get involved with good guys but you're good with the girls and you get me. You've been more supportive than both Declan and Al have. It still kind of sucks that we don't work together anymore but maybe we can start seeing how things develop."

"I have feelings for you too and I have for a while. Probably since you were pregnant with Jesse. I talked to Liv at Voight's party last night too and then Chief Garland and I were talkin' at the pool. He's noticed it too."

"That's kind of scary. Liv said she's ok with it."

"Chief Garland did too but suggested that if something were to happen between us, we bring it up to the DA as well."

"That makes sense. You've been more supportive of me with them then their respective fathers have. I want to find someone who will love all of us."

"I do. Whether we're together or not, I will always love you. You know that."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. So, do we want to give this a shot?"

"I think so."

Sonny leaned in and gently kissed Amanda.

"I have wanted that to happen for a while now."

"You have, huh?"

"Yeah, I have."

Amanda had tears running down her cheeks.

"Why are you crying?"

"I don't know."

Sonny kissed her again and then they got ready to meet everyone for breakfast. Fin and Phoebe's room was just down the hall from Amanda's and Fin saw them coming down the hall together. Sonny was carrying Billie.

"Manda, did he stay with you last night?"

"No but we are trying to have a relationship."

"Better hope Liv and Chief Garland don't find out."

Amanda rolled her eyes and so did Phoebe.

"It's her life. I think it's great and it's been a little obvious to me as an outsider to your squad that they've had feelings for each other for a while. Can't you be happy for her?"

"Yeah but it's Carisi."

"So? It's better that it's him than someone who would end up completely hurting her and the girls. He's a great guy and great looking too. I'm happy for you, Amanda."

"Thanks. Good luck with him, Phoebe."

"Yeah, thanks. Olivia said the same thing to me. Now I know why. He can be such a child sometimes."

"You should try workin' with him."

"Been there, done that."

Fin rolled his eyes and Jesse started giggling. They all got into the elevator and headed down to the lobby. When they got to the lobby, they saw Kat, Erin, Olive, Noah, Megan, Daniel and the Garlands.

"Where's Liv?"

"They said they'd be right down."

"So, Rollins, are you and Carisi a thing now?"

"We're gonna try it and see where it goes."

"Good for you. Carisi and I may not always see eye to eye on stuff but that was a little obvious."

"Thanks, Kat. Erin, were you ok seein' Jay with Upton?"

"I mean, I might have been a little jealous and I'm sure she intentionally did that in front of me but it's not like he and I are together anymore. It is what it is."

The elevator opened and Hank and Olivia got off of it. They were holding hands.

"Mommy! Daddy!"

"Hey, you! Were you good for your big sister?"

"Yes."

"Good. We ready?"

"Yep."

"Thanks for that talk last night, Liv."

"Did it work?"

"Yeah, it did. We're gonna try and see where it goes."

"Good for you."

"Remember what I said, ADA Carisi."

"I know, Chief and thanks."

"No problem."

They all left and went to have breakfast. After breakfast, they went back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. Once everyone was ready, they headed to City Hall and met the Judge that was marrying them. In front of their family, Trudy and Mouch and both squads, Hank and Olivia finally made it official.

"Congratulations, you two!"

"Thanks."

"It's about damn time, Liv!"

"Thanks a lot, Fin."

"No problem."

"Again, Phoebe, good luck with him."

All Phoebe could do was shake her head and roll her eyes. They all went to grab something to eat together before the Voights had to head to the airport for their trip to Hawaii. The group from New York was leaving later that afternoon to head back to New York.

They enjoyed the next week as a family and Noah had even started calling Hank 'Dad'. By the time the week was over, everyone said their goodbyes at the airport. Hank, Olivia, Erin, Noah and Megan headed to the gate for the flight to New York, while Olive and Daniel headed to the gate for the flight to Phoenix. Once they were back in New York, Hank was going to have to spend time unpacking his stuff but with the help of Olivia's squad, Phoebe, the Garlands and Lucy, things were pretty much unpacked. Olivia had also gotten a phone call from Trevor that he had the papers finalizing the adoption for Hank to make Noah his son. She was then able to officially change her and the kids' last name, making things even more official. Olivia was happy that they were now a family.
