Our Secret is Out
Olivia was waiting for Hank to arrive at the wedding. She understood how crazy things got for him and thankfully, they wouldn't have to be apart much longer. He was retiring by the end of June and moving to New York. They had gotten married when they went away for Noah's Spring Break in March and not everyone knew except for Erin, Olive, Daniel and of course Noah, who were all with them when it happened. When they returned, she told Lucy and Amanda and Hank told Trudy. They were waiting until Hank retired before they went on their official honeymoon. Olivia was looking forward to taking some time off without Noah. Hank had been planning to retire before they decided to make it official. She made the decision not to tell her squad.
Hank arrived in New York and dropped his stuff off at Olivia's and changed before heading to the venue. He walked into the venue and saw his beautiful wife talking with Amanda and Kat. She glanced in his direction and smiled at him. He walked over to her and kissed her.
"You made it."
"I did. You look beautiful, by the way."
"Thank you. You look pretty handsome yourself."
"Thanks."
They sat down and then Fin and Phoebe came in.
"We wanted to thank you all for coming but we decided not to get married right now. Everything is fine. However, we have the place, so we might as well make the best of it. While we still have Carisi here, Liv, you and Voight wouldn't want to get married, would you?"
"Why would we do that?"
"Why not?"
"You know I don't like all the attention on me and this was supposed to be your day."
Hank could see Olivia was starting to become embarrassed. Amanda knew the reason.
"Fin, let it go."
"Amanda, it's ok. The reason I don't want to do this now is because we got married a couple months ago when we went away for Noah's Spring Break.
"No way, Captain! Congratulations!"
"Thank you, Kat."
"You too, Sarge."
"Thanks."
"Congratulations, Liv and Voight!"
"Thanks, Carisi."
"Congratulations, Captain Benson and Sergeant Voight!"
"Thanks, Phoebe."
"What the hell, Liv? You mean to tell me you got married without having me there? That ain't right."
"Well, our family was there."
"I thought we were your family."
"You are but it was a spur of the moment decision. We decided we didn't want a big fuss made about it. If you want to be pissed at me, then be pissed at me. I really don't care."
"I'm happy for you, Liv but I just kind of figured I'd be there when it happened."
"I get it but please just let it go."
Olivia got up and went to the washroom and then they started serving drinks. By the time Olivia came out of the washroom, Chief Garland was there.
"I'm sorry I missed the festivities."
"Really, you didn't miss anything. They decided not to get married right now. Fin wanted me and Hank to get married instead but we already are."
"When did this happen?"
"When we went away for Noah's Spring Break. We were planning to wait until Hank retired in another month but we decided to. I will be gone for a week once he retires because we're going on our honeymoon, since we didn't have much of one."
"That's great. Congratulations!"
"Thanks, Chief. How did your meeting go?"
"It went. I think they're trying to make me look bad."
"I'm sure my ex partner's antics in the Interrogation Room don't help."
"Well, no."
"I can't apologize enough for that. That's on me. I should have known better. He has not changed at all in 10 years."
"It is what it is. I think they're trying to get me out but I won't go down without a fight."
"Good for you."
"Excuse me."
"Sure."
Chief Garland walked away and Olivia headed over by the railing. Hank had gone over to the bar and Elliot had come in. He smiled when he saw Olivia, so he walked over to her.
"Hey."
"I didn't know you'd be here."
"Of course I'd be here. Why wouldn't I be? I was looking at apartments in the city. It's time."
Olivia really wasn't paying attention because she was looking for Hank.
"Liv?"
"Yeah, I heard you."
Hank came back over with a glass of wine for her.
"Here, Babe."
"Thanks, Honey."
"You must be Hank."
"And you must be Elliot. Sorry to hear about your wife."
"Thanks. It hasn't been easy."
"I get that. I lost my first wife to cancer 11 years ago and my relationship with my son was so messed up after that. I lost him 5 years ago."
"Sorry."
"Thanks."
"Wait, first wife? Did you two get married?"
"We did. We got married shortly before what happened with Kathy. I had just gotten back from my son's Spring Break, which was when we got married. Amanda was the only one that knew. Fin and Phoebe decided not to get married but Fin wanted Hank and me to get married. I told him we already were and he's a little upset because none of them were included but it is what it is."
"You don't wear your ring though."
"I don't wear the engagement ring to work because I don't want to lose it or have something happen to it and I haven't been wearing my wedding band because we weren't ready to tell people. Hank probably doesn't even have his."
"I have it with me, so I'll put it on later."
"Ok."
"You're with Chicago, right?"
"Yeah but only for another month. How do you like Organized Crime?"
"It's a lot different than SVU."
"I'm sure it is. That's probably similar to what I deal with. We had a sex trafficking case that we were dealing with and one of my team members was kidnapped. By the time we found her she was in pretty bad shape."
"How's she doing?"
"Better. She does have a long road to recovery though but Ruzek is there for her and he's taking his job as guardian to Makayla very seriously."
"Good. It's not easy."
"It's not but I'm not going to miss it."
"You're retiring?"
"Yeah. I knew it was time and I had planned to do it at the end of June and now that we're married, it makes it harder but we both knew it was time."
"Noah is looking forward to having you here with him."
"Once we get back from our honeymoon."
"Exactly."
"Where are you going?"
"We're doing a Mexican cruise, so we'll be gone for 10 days. We got married in Hawaii."
"Oh, wow! Nice. Just the 3 of you?"
"Actually, no. His daughter-in-law and grandson were there and so was Erin, the one that used to work with Hank, who's now with the FBI. He considers her one of the family and I do too. She and I have a better relationship than she does with her mother. I guess now that everything is all out in the open, I can change my last name and take care of all my paperwork through the NYPD."
"Is he adopting your kid?"
"Oh, yeah. Trevor Langan took care of that."
"Wait, since when does Langan handle stuff like that?"
"He helped me with the adoption, so he gave up being a Defense Attorney."
"That's great. Since I've been back, I've heard something else?"
"What?"
"Tucker committed suicide over a year ago."
"I knew about that. He and I were close for a while."
"You and Tucker?"
"Yeah. Most of his problem with SVU for all those years was you and later Amaro, who was my partner after you left."
"Did you two ever…?"
"That's none of your business."
"I'll take that as a yes."
"What difference does it make?"
"He was the enemy, Liv."
"People change. He did but you obviously haven't. My personal life was never your business then and it sure as hell isn't your business now."
Olivia was becoming emotional thinking about Ed, so she buried her face in Hank's chest and he rubbed her back. They all went to sit down at one of the tables.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. He meant a lot to you, didn't he?"
"Yes."
"You two want to have dinner with me sometime? We can catch up and I can get to know Hank better."
"It probably won't be until after he moves here and we're back from our honeymoon. We're moving into a bigger place as well. He's only here through the weekend anyway."
"Ok. Whenever works for you. Did you buy a place?"
"We did and our offer was accepted but we haven't closed on it yet. He's usually here every other weekend but he's trying to get his house ready to be put on the market. His daughter-in-law came in to see if there was anything of Justin's she may have wanted for Daniel."
"I'm lookin' at apartments in the city. You getting a condo?"
"Townhouse. It's expensive but whatever he gets for his house will then go towards the new one. Noah is excited because his bedroom will be a lot bigger than he's used to. We have room for the rest of the family when they come visit."
"Do you get along with his grandson?"
"I do. Daniel is an amazing little boy. He just turned 6 and he calls me Grandma. He and Noah get along really well too."
"How did you two meet?"
"We worked on a case together and we did not start out on the right foot."
"What happened?"
"Let's just say I compared him to you when he barged into an interrogation and started to become physical with the suspect. I had to threaten to arrest him if he pulled that again. Maybe I should have done that with you."
"Trust me, I get it. I was wrong for doing what I did.
Fin, Phoebe and Kat came over to where they were.
"Liv, are you seein' Rollins and Carisi over there?"
"What?"
Fin pointed to where Rollins and Carisi were and they were kissing.
"It's about damn time! Nicole was a piece of work."
"You can say that again. I wonder if he's ever gonna tell her about that?"
"I've been waiting for this to happen for a while. Let's face it, he's felt something for her since she was pregnant with Jesse and he's been the one that has supported her when she needed help with the girls. He spent time with the girls when she was with her dad."
"Ain't that the truth? Just don't tell Chief Garland."
"Don't tell Chief Garland what?"
"Didn't know you were there, Chief."
"I see ADA Carisi and Detective Rollins over there."
"That doesn't really surprise me."
"It doesn't?"
"No. They've had a thing for each other for a while, which is why I wasn't too surprised when he took the job with the DA's office. Who initiated it?"
"I think she did."
"She yelled at him in the squadroom because she thinks he abandoned her by taking the job with the DA's office. He told her he thought she was happy for him and then she called him an idiot for believing her."
"If you and Voight weren't together would you ever get involved with Stabler?"
"Oh, hell no! Why would I do that?"
"Liv, weren't you in love with the guy when you worked together?"
"I loved him as my partner and best friend but I never would have crossed that line. Too much drama. Still is. Some relationships were only meant to be professional and platonic. This one is one of them and so is my relationship with Barba. If I wasn't with Hank, I might actually consider Trevor Langan or hell, even Peter Stone. I learned my lesson after both Brian and Ed that I'm done with dating NYPD cops. I'm happy if things work out for Rollins and Carisi though."
"I think it's safe to say that you have a thing for hotheads though."
"Yeah, I know I do. I was partners with two of them and I've been in a relationship with three of them. Being in a long distance relationship with Hank has been the best thing for me but I'm glad he's retiring and moving here."
"I really am sorry for how I acted earlier. I'm just kind of disappointed that you didn't include us."
"I know I should have and I apologize for that but we just wanted to make it official."
"I can't blame you for that. You two have been together for a while now."
"We got together 6 months after Ed and I broke up. A part of me had hoped it would have been sooner but that was on me. He actually proposed a few times before I said yes because he couldn't decide on how long he was going to continue working. When he finally decided about a year ago that he wanted to retire and move here, I finally said yes."
"So basically it was either your way or not at all? Some things never change."
"You'd be right about that. I suggested she transfer to Chicago but she said no to that."
"I didn't want to start over in another department. That's all."
"I know. It gave me a lot to think about and I'm glad to be calling it quits."
"Whose idea was it to get married?"
"Hers."
"My best suggestion yet."
Olivia smirked at Hank and then kissed him. Then Amanda and Sonny came over to them and Fin started making kissing sounds. Phoebe smacked him.
"Damn, woman!"
"You saw that?"
"Who didn't?"
"Shut up, Fin!"
"I've wanted to do that for a while."
"And Carisi, did you tell Amanda something?"
"I did but I'm planning to end things with Nicole because I realized that I've wanted to be with Amanda all along. I love those girls so much. I kind of expected to be married and have kids by now. I kind of realized after that case involving Nicole's sister that she wasn't the one for me. Her kind of drama, I don't need in my life but Amanda's drama I understand."
"He gets me, which is something I've never had before. For once, I want a good guy."
"I'm fine with it but you will need to talk to the DA though. Just don't let a relationship interfere with your jobs."
"Yeah, we know."
"As the Deputy Chief of this unit, I'm ok with it too and I agree with Captain Benson about talking to the DA."
"Got it."
"Liv, would you have ever started something with Stabler?"
"No. I always respected that he was married and right now, he needs time to deal with losing his wife. I'll be here for him as a friend but nothing more. He's now the one that needs to respect that I'm married and very happy. Even if I wasn't with Hank, I wouldn't want to be with Elliot romantically. I care about him and always have but Hank and our family are my main priority and that won't ever change. I just don't need that kind of drama in my life."
"Is their still gonna be food?"
"Oh yeah. That should be comin' out soon. There will be dancin' too."
Oh, good."
The food came out and then everyone ate. After they were done eating, the dancing started. Hank had headed to the washroom and asked if they would play his and Olivia's song. The song started playing and Elliot had been there.
"Liv, you wanna dance?"
"This is mine and Hank's song, so I know he's responsible for requesting it."
Olivia got up and headed over to Hank, so they could dance. They had their arms wrapped around each other and were stealing kisses as they danced to their song. Amanda and Sonny and Fin and Phoebe joined them.
"Thank you for being here."
"There is no other place that I would rather be. You know that. I cannot wait to get you home, out of that dress and into bed."
"I love the way you think and I love you so much."
"I love you too. I have a feeling someone is jealous."
"Oh, no doubt. He wanted to dance with me but I told him this was our song. He knew I was with someone. It's not like I kept us a secret from him. I want to go home and have you make love to me."
"As soon as the song ends, let's go."
"Ok."
The song ended and then Hank and Olivia said goodbye to the squad. Elliot had gone off somewhere anyway, so he had no idea they were leaving. They left and headed home. By the time they got home, they locked up and headed straight for the bedroom. They both put their rings on, undressed each other, got on the bed and made love before falling asleep in each other's arms. Not too long after Hank and Olivia left, Amanda and Sonny left. Sonny told her that he thought they should wait until he officially broke up with Nicole before they were together and she agreed. They spent most of the night talking. A little while later, everyone else pretty much left and headed home.
