Nontraditional Proposal

Tonight was the night. Olivia was about to do something she had never considered doing before. She was planning to propose to Hank at Citi Field. To say she was nervous was an understatement. She wasn't sure why she chose to do it in front of thousands of people plus everyone watching it on television. She knew there was a chance people Hank knew would be watching the game as well, since the Mets were playing the Cubs. She even found a ring she liked. Yes, she even bought Hank Voight an engagement ring. What was she thinking? No one knew she was doing this. Not even Noah.

Hank arrived in New York and Olivia had taken the afternoon off to pick him up. Fin was in charge. She arrived just as he was coming outside. He put his bag in the back of the SUV and got in. Once he got in, he kissed Olivia.

"Hey, Babe."

"Hey."

"You ok?"

"Yeah. I just have a lot on my mind."

"Maybe I can help with that. Is Noah home?"

"Nope. He's at camp until 3 but he's staying with his friend for a couple days."

Olivia drove home and then as soon as they got upstairs, they headed towards the bedroom and made love. Olivia always felt better when she and Hank made love but for some reason, she was still anxious about what was going to happen later on. Everything was making her anxious lately. Her former partner was back in her life and basically admitted his feelings for her. Even when she told him she wasn't interested in him romantically, he still kept at it. The two of them at gotten into it at what would have been Fin and Phoebe's wedding. He kept trying to tell her that if Hank really loved her, he would have asked her to marry him by now, so things weren't as serious as she was making them out to be. If she was his, they'd be married by now. She basically told him that she wasn't his and her personal life was none of his business.

"I can feel you thinking, Olivia. Relax."

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah."

"Do you love me?"

"What kind of question is that? You know I do. I've loved you from the moment you threatened to arrest me. Stop letting that asshole former partner of yours get into your head. He's the one that doesn't deserve to have you in his life because of how he handled things the last 10 years. He's the one that walked away and honestly, you're better off without him."

"He'll never be the man you are."

"You and Noah mean the world to me. You know that. Don't ever doubt my feelings for you."

They kissed and made love again before falling asleep for a little while. Once they got up, they got ready for the game. They headed to Citi Field and Olivia's stomach was in knots. They told her they would text her when they would do it. Once they texted her, they said it would be between the 5th and 6th innings. Olivia had gone into the restroom to clear her head. She hated being the center of attention, so why the hell was she doing this? She went back to her seat and took a drink of her beer. The closer it got to the 5th inning, the more nervous she became. When the moment came, she figured she just needed to get it over with. All eyes were on her on the screen. She had pulled the ring out of her pocket.

"Hank."

"Yeah."

"Will you marry me?"

"Did you just ask me to marry you?"

"I did and probably just made a complete ass of myself in the process."

"Yes."

"Yes? You're sure?"

"Yeah."

Olivia sighed in relief, put the ring on Hank's finger and they kissed. All the fans started cheering.

"Apparently we had the same idea but I wasn't going to do it in front of all these people."

Hank pulled the engagement ring he had bought for Olivia out and put it on her finger.

"You don't have to wear that if you don't want to."

"I'm happy to wear it. "

They kissed again and the game resumed. They had both gotten texts from friends and co-workers congratulating them. Trudy texted him and said they had all seen the big moment at Molly's.

"Trudy said they all saw the big moment at Molly's."

"I am so sorry."

"Don't be sorry."

They kissed again and then once the game was over, they headed home. Once they got home, they made love before they fell asleep in each other's arms. Olivia had decided to work part of the day again, so Hank would be on his own. Once they got up, Noah called and told them he was so happy for them. Olivia got ready for work, while Hank fixed breakfast. After Olivia was ready to go and had breakfast, she left for the Precinct. She was the first one there but Elliot was in her office.

"What are you doing here, Stabler?"

"That was pretty tacky last night."

"You know what, I don't give a shit what you think. Like I told you before, my personal life is none of your business."

"A real man proposes to his woman not the other way around. He must be a sissy."

"He's more man than you are."

"I highly doubt that. You clearly deserve better."

"There is no one better."

"Of course there is. Me."

"Get out of my office! I don't ever want to see you here again. You show up at my Precinct again, you will be arrested."

"This wedding is not going to happen?"

"Oh yes it will. You're just jealous that I have someone in my life that makes me happy."

"I love you. He doesn't."

"Hank has been there for me and at times when I didn't think I deserved it. You have never loved anyone but yourself."

"That's not true."

"You're so full of yourself. You always have been. I wouldn't have blamed Kathy if she had divorced you."

Then Fin, Amanda, Sonny, Kat and Chief Garland came in.

"You lost, Detective?"

"Detective Stabler was just leaving. If he shows up here again, he will be arrested."

Elliot smirked at Olivia and then Fin grabbed him by the shirt to escort him out.

"Congratulations, Captain!"

"Yeah, Liv. Congratulations!"

"Congrats, Liv!"

"From me too."

"Thanks. I was so nervous. Apparently, Hank was planning to propose to me this weekend. I'm only here part of the day again. I want to spend as much time as I can with my fiancé."

"Don't let Detective Stabler ruin your happiness."

"I'm trying not to but he thinks he's the only one that can make me happy."

"We've all seen you with Sergeant Voight. He does make you happy."

"Stabler made some rude comment about me being in a relationship with Tucker and said he would have questioned my sanity. His sanity has always been questionable."

"I will call Sergeant Bell and ask her to keep him on a short leash and if we end up with any more cases that require their assistance, we do not want him here if he can't treat you in a professional manner."

"Thanks, Chief."

Fin came back.

"I slammed that asshole into the car before I told him to get lost."

"Thanks, Fin."

"Anything for you, baby girl."

"I told Captain Benson that I will call Sergeant Bell and ask her to keep Detective Stabler on a short leash. I don't want him thinking he can disrespect Captain Benson because he's obsessed with her. After what he pulled in the Interrogation Room, he is already in trouble with me."

"I'm happy for you and Voight, Liv. I'm proud of you for doing what you did."

"Thanks. Stabler said a real man would have proposed to me."

"Voight is more man than he will ever be."

"That's basically what I said."

"There is nothing that says a woman can't do the proposing."

"Exactly. At least Hank said yes."

"Why wouldn't he? He's crazy about you."

"I'm crazy about him too."

Chief Garland left and then Olivia then got a text from Erin. She replied back.

"Erin said she contacted Olive after she saw it. I'm not surprised. You have no idea how nervous I was about doing this."

"It made the news too."

"Oh, goody!"

Olivia texted Hank and told him she heard from Erin, who said she called Olive. Hank responded that he had already heard from Erin and most of the people in Chicago since she left. She told him she had already gotten into it with Stabler. Carisi kissed Amanda and headed to his office and ran into Trevor on the way out.

"Hey, Langan."

"Hey. Is Olivia in?"

"Yeah."

Trevor went towards Olivia's office and knocked on the doorframe.

"Come on in."

"Thanks. I saw your proposal last night. Congratulations!"

"Thanks. I was so nervous about doing it."

"Who says a marriage proposal has to be traditional?"

"My ex-partner."

"He can kiss my ass. I never liked him. I always thought you could have done better than him. Hank seems like a great guy."

"He is. He is such an amazing man. I've lost all respect for Elliot Stabler a long time ago. I am glad you're here though. Hank wants to adopt Noah."

"Ok. I will start that."

"Great. Thank you so much."

"No problem."

Trevor left and then Olivia did what she needed to do before she left for the day. Once she left, she went home.

"Hey."

"Hey, Babe."

"How is my sexy fiancé?"

"I'm great. How's mine?"

"I'm great too now that I'm here with you. Trevor stopped by to congratulate me and I told him you wanted to adopt Noah."

"Good."

They went into the bedroom and made love before they went out for lunch. Noah decided he wanted to spend time with Hank, so he came home and they had Erin over for dinner. Olive contacted them via video chat, so everyone got to talk to Daniel as well. Once Erin left, they put Noah to bed.

The next couple of days, they spent together. By the time Sunday arrived, Olivia, Noah and Erin took Hank to the airport.

"We'll get out to see you eventually. Again, if you don't want to wear that, I won't be insulted."

"I'm wearing it. I want people to know I'm happily engaged."

"Me too."

Hank kissed Noah and hugged Erin.

"Behave yourselves."

"We will."

"You too, Babe."

"As long as my former partner stays away from me. I can't be held responsible for what I might do."

"You're starting to sound like me."

"That's kind of scary."

"I think it's sexy that you proposed to me."

"I was just so nervous though."

"There's no way I would have said no. We would have gotten engaged this weekend anyway."

"I love you."

"I love you too. I love you both too."

"Love you."

"Me too."

Hank kissed Olivia and then he grabbed his stuff. He went inside, got checked in went through security and headed to the gate. Everyone else got back into the car and headed home. A couple hours later, the plane took off for Chicago.
