Legacies and Lightning: Chapter 19
Raikage tower: With A, Uzui, Bee, Yugito, Mabui, Darui and Samui
"Kami above" A said sitting at his desk rubbing his hands on his face "those clan heirs from Konoha aren't worth a flying fuck".
"I'll say" Uzui said as she rubbed her temples "how the hell are we suppose to arrange a marriage if all they sent us are those dumbasses".
"Hey bro, no need to fret; we still got time for my little niece to find a man" Bee said; Bee was A's younger adoptive brother and the jinchuriki of the eight tails. He was a tall dark skinned man with white blonde hair like his brother, a goatee, multiple swords on his back and he always wore sunglasses along with a standard Kumo jonin outfit.
"I agree Lord Raikage" Yugito Nii said "we still have other suitors from other villages"; Yugito was a stunning blonde woman with cat like eyes and wearing a purple outfit unlike most people in Kumo who wear white.
"But the suitors from the other villages aren't much better" Samui said in a cool tone "Lord Gaara and Kankuro from Suna canceled last minute; and the boy from Kiri also has not even approached us yet".
"Isn't this a dilemma" Darui said "all these boys and none even come close to being useful".
"I'm sure Lady Yuui will find someone; maybe not a clan heir but someone" Mabui said and A slammed his fist.
"The whole point of this is to increase Kumo's image and make it seem like we changed" A shouted "how the hell are we suppose to move out of the dark and into the light if we don't have any political or blood ties to another nation". "Besides, Yuui is going to be the next Raikage; she needs a husband with good genes to make a strong child to become the next Raikage" A said "and I'll be damned if I let some weak ass, soy boy be the father of my grandchild; why do you think I forbid that Koyoi boy from dating her.
"Umm… maybe because he's Bi and he prefers boys more than girls" Uzui said and A looked at her wide eyed.
"Wait he's Bi?" A said surprised "I just thought he was a cross dresser; I mean have you seen his dad?"; everyone sweat dropped at this. "Fuck me, isn't there one person who can marry my daughter and not be a total jackass" A said as he stood up and karate chopped his desk in half.
Meanwhile; at the Kumo academy: With Naruto, Yuui, Yakumo, Koyoi and Mayui
Naruto looked at the large building carved into a mountain in front of him and spoke "woah, this is your academy?" Naruto asked and Yuui nodded "man you guys are lucky; our academy is made out of wood".
"Yep, this is it; the birthplace of the Kumo ninja" Yuui said putting her hands on her waist "every child must go here to become a ninja; every class must take a test and most end up in the reserves, while the top quarter become actual ninja". "So roughly around seven teams of three; although there are special ones like Koyoi here" Yuui said.
"I never went to the academy, Tonoi sensei recruited me personally; but I'm a quick learner" Koyoi said and Yakumo looked at him with a smile.
"Wow, what a coincidence; I never went to the academy either" Yakumo said before looking at Naruto "Naruto is the only one who went; I was made an apprentice for Kurenai sensei".
"Alright people; you guys ready to go in?" Mayui asked and everyone nodded "alright lets go"; Naruto, Yuui and the others all began to walk up the stairs of the academy and entered through the doors.
Inside the Kumo academy
Naruto, Yuui and the others walked up the stone stairs to the room where the first exam was going to take place; so far they've been walking up stairs for nearly 15 minutes and Naruto looked to Yuui.
"So Yuui, where in the academy are we going?" Naruto asked and Yuui looked at him and shrugged.
"I'm not sure; I've never been to this part of the academy before" Yuui said making Naruto and Yakumo confused; Yuui pulled out her entrance slip from her pocket and read it "apparently we're going into 'D wing'".
"D wing?" Yakumo asked and Yuui, Koyoi and Mayui nodded "why have you never been there?"
"Because the third Raikage cordoned it off nearly twenty years ago" Mayui said and both Naruto and Yakumo looked at her "not sure why, just a lot of rumors".
Koyoi leaned in and whispered to Naruto "I hears it's because the last time they used that floor for the chunin exams a lot of Kumo genin got killed" Koyoi said "I heard that they were eaten by giant animals".
"G-giant animals?" Yakumo said slightly scared now; Mayui scoffed at this.
"Get ready Koyoi" Mayui said "I'm sure there's a perfectly logical reason; maybe it's because we haven't had foreign shinobi for the chunin exams in forty years".
"I hope so" Koyoi said.
As Naruto and the others reached the top of the stairs they saw a large entrance with 2 Kumo chunin, one male and one female, standing in front of the doorway; as they approached the Kumo chunin spoke up.
"Lady Yuui; welcome to the chunin exams" the chunin said as he looked her before looking at the others "seems like you and you're team have finally made it to one".
"Oh shut up, just because you two got to become chunin before me doesn't mean I've been slacking" Yuui said and Naruto looked at her.
"You know these guys?" Naruto asked and the female chunin spoke up.
"We were in the same academy class together" she said before looking at Yuui "well good luck you guys"; she then reached behind herself and took out five pieces of paper and handed them out to everyone. "And before you pass, I need you to sign this" she said.
"What're these?" Koyoi asked and the male chunin spoke.
"Oh these are for you to sign the paper and give a blood thumb print; these just give Kumo a safety net in case someone dies" he said making everyone jolt "yeah, there are usually a couple casualties; roughly ten percent". "If you don't sign them then you don't pass" he said.
Yuui, Yakumo, Mayui and Koyoi all began to feel nervous and for a moment had second doubts until they heard Naruto's voice.
"Awesome possum" Naruto said with a chirp as he took a pen from the chunin and signed his name without hesitation before biting his thumb and putting his thumb print on. "Hey what's this right here…'organ donor'?" Naruto asked.
"Oh that means if you die we harvest your organs for sick people" the male chunin said "it's optional but highly recommended and very looked upon; you'll also get a medal even though you're a foreigner"; Naruto tapped his chin while sticking out his tongue for a few seconds before shrugging.
"Ehh… why not" Naruto said making the others sweat drop as he signed his name a second time "i wonder if it comes with a ribbon?"; Yuui and the others all saw this and felt a little more at ease and all signed their names.
When everyone was done they handed the forms and the chunin nodded "ok you five, good luck, try not to die" the female chunin said and they all nodded.
Naruto, Yuui and the others all walked through the doorway and walked down a long dark hallway; the ominous hallway made the group stand on edge with every step they took. After a few minutes the group saw a pair of large steel doors up ahead and Yuui spoke up.
"Ok people" Yuui said taking in a deep breath "it's show time"; upon reaching the doors Yuui put her hands on them and pushed them both open. Their unease then turned into confusion as they looked into the room; the room was made of concrete, had several desks similar to the academy classrooms and only had a couple teams inside.
There were several Kumo teams as the majority but there were several others as well; there was a Kiri team made up of 3 boys all sitting and talking together, and one of the boys stood out to Naruto in particular.
He had blue hair, glasses, wore a blue turtleneck and black and white pattern camouflage pants; but what stood out the most was the giant sword on his back.
Naruto narrowed his eyes at this 'this guy doesn't look like much but he gives me a strange feeling' he thought 'better keep my eye on him'.
"Naruto, look" Yakumo whispered as she motioned to the far corner of the room; Naruto turned and felt his stomach sink. In the corner of the room huddled together there were the 3 Ame genin that were with Aoi Rokusho on Naruto and Yakumo's mission a few months ago.
"Aw shit it's those guys" Naruto said and Yuui looked at him and Yakumo.
"Do you know those guys?" Yuui asked and Yakumo nodded.
"Y-yeah, uhh…" Yakumo said stuttering "Naruto, kind of… killed their sensei and took his sword".
As this happened Oboro, Mubi and Kagari all sat there looking at Naruto "well look here boys; we ran into the guy who killed sensei" Oboro said with a growl "keep you're eye on him and if you get a chance, kill him".
Naruto looked at the 3 Ame genin and grunted "fuck them" he said before looking around again.
There was a team from Oto consisting of a boy wrapped in bandages, a girl with long black hair and a boy wearing a shirt with the word death written on the front.
Yuui looking at that team leaned in between Mayui and Koyoi and spoke "keep an eye on those guys; they seem dangerous" she said and they both nodded.
Dosu was looking at the Naruto, Yuui and their teammates and whispered to his group "there's the Raikage's daughter and her team" he whispered "they're our secondary objective; remember to not kill them".
"What about the ones from Konoha; the blonde kid and the pale girl?" Kin asked as she leaned on the desk.
"Who cares; they're nobodies" Zaku said and Dosu nodded.
"Kill them if you need to, but remember our objectives" Dosu said and both Kin and Zaku nodded.
Yuui scanned around some more and found the last foreign team there and she spoke "hey Naruto" Yuui said in a whisper "Suna team on the left side of the room".
Naruto slowly turned and saw a Suna team consisting of a red haired boy with a gourd on his back, a blond girl with a fan on her back and a boy in a black cat suit with what appears to be a mummy on his back. Naruto ignored the girl and the cat suit boy and looked at the red haired boy.
The boy looked at the ground and didn't appear to be engaged with anything around him; however he was muttering something unintelligible to himself and Naruto got a really bad feeling.
"Who the hell is that guy?" Naruto asked to Yuui.
"That's Gaara of Suna; he's one of the people who I was supposed to go on a date with" Yuui said making Naruto and Yakumo go wide eyed "he's the son of the Kazekage and supposed to be the most powerful ninja in his village, but…"
"What is it?" Yakumo asked.
"When he first got here-" Yuui began.
Flashback (1 week ago); Raikage Office
"Huh, they're here and they canceled?" Yuui asked A as they sat in the Raikage office with only Bee and Yugito present "why'd they cancel?"
"We're not sure about that baby girl" A said to his daughter "but, it'll probably be better if you stay away from him".
"Huh, why?" Yuui asked and Yugito walked up and spoke.
"When he entered the gates I was there to greet him along with several others; and I have to say… he made Matatabi go crazy" Yugito said "Bee checked in after me and he felt the same".
"The Eight tails was goin' nuts in my head" Bee said to Yuui "he was talking about how that boy is the jinchuriki of Shukaku; the one tailed Tanuki". Yuui went wide eyed "he told me that boy wasn't right in the head" Bee said before adjusting his glasses "and those eyes he had, they were cold and unflinching".
"They also brought word from the Kazekage that the arrangement would be beneficial to them; so they canceled it" A said before he place his elbows on his desk "but if he's as unstable as Bee and Yugito here say he is, it's best to forget him as a candidate; I don't want you around him longer than you have to be".
Yuui hearing this felt a tinge of danger run through her system before nodding "I'll keep my distance daddy; thanks for the heads up" she said.
Flashback ends
"He's got the one tail?" Naruto asked and Yuui nodded "well isn't this dandy; barely even a tenth of the teams are here and we found half a circus worth of freaks". As soon as he said that Gaara looked up from the floor and looked at Naruto and his group; his cold dead eyes pierced through them as he stated.
"Yes mother; I sense them too" Gaara whispered to himself as he looked at Naruto and Yuui "I sense their power, I do and I will kill them"; Gaara got a dark and creepy smile on his face that made Temari and Kankuro uneasy.
'Oh Kami, I remember that smile' Temari thought in fear as she scooted away a little.
'Great, Gaara might go psycho again' Kankuro thought 'he better not mess up the plan because of his bloodlust; or else we'll be screwed… and at Orochimaru's mercy'.
Naruto and Yuui both gulped at the sight of Gaara's smile and Yuui leaned in and whispered to Naruto "I think it was for the best that I didn't go on a date with that creep" Yuui said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, he doesn't exactly look… all there" Naruto said before turning to Yakumo "probably would be best to stay away from him".
"Ok" Yakumo said.
"Hey Yuui" came a voice and Yuui and Mayui got scowls on their faces as they looked over and saw a three man Kumo team walking over; the team was made up of two girls and one boy and when they were close one girl got a smug look on her face "I wondered when you'd show up".
The girl who spoke was a beautiful blonde haired, green eyed girl wearing a white shirt with fishnets underneath, black pants, white sandals, and had a sword and a tanto on her hip.
The other girl was dark skinned liked Mayui and had curly blueish black hair and yellow eyes; she wore nearly the same thing as the blonde girl except she wore a tank top that showed off her curvaceous figure and had what looked like brass knuckles hanging from her belt.
The last one was a light skinned, brown haired, brown eyed boy who wore a grey hoodie with red stitching, white pants, black sandals and had on a backpack with no visible weapons on him.
Yuui looked at her and spoke "hello Hiyui" Yuui said with a smile "I see you still have that gold plated stick still shoved up your ass".
"Well my family can afford all the gold we want" Hiyui said back to Yuui "unlike your pathetic excuse for royalty, my family are actual aristocrats". This made Yuui growl in anger and Naruto got concerned; before he could say anything Mayui walked up to the other girl.
"Terui" Mayui said to the now named Terui.
"Mayui" Terui said back crossing her arms.
"Tight ass" Mayui said.
"Slut" Terui said and both Naruto and Yakumo sweat dropped from the simple exchange.
Koyoi walked up to the brown haired boy and spoke "hey Roi, hows your sister doing" Koyoi said in a friendly tone and the now named Roi spoke up.
"Oh she's doing great, she had her kid a few weeks ago; I'm an uncle now" Roi said in an equally friendly tone and both Yuui and Hiyui looked at their respective male partners.
"Hey! Don't be nice to each other Koyoi" Yuui shouted "they're our enemies".
"Roi, you're on our team!" Hiyui shouted "keep your distance"; both Koyoi and Roi groaned and spoke.
"Ok fine" Koyoi said before crossing his arm, looking at Roi and speaking in a monotone "jerk face".
Roi shrugged and spoke in an equal tone "girly boy" Roi said and Koyoi shrugged in return.
"Uhh… what the hell is going on?" Naruto asked speaking up and Hiyui looked at Naruto.
"Hmph… hanging out with Konoha ninja Yuui; how low of you" Hiyui said and Naruto narrowed his eyes "one would think that the daughter of the Raikage would know better".
"I hang out with who ever I want to hang out with bitch" Yuui said in return "how about you and your team un-ass my A.O".
"Fine, the presence of low class and scum is making my skin crawl" Hiyui said before spinning around "lets go guys"; Hiyui, Terui and Roi all walked away with only Koyoi and Roi giving each other nods of friendship.
"Ok, now I'm really confused; who were those people?" Yakumo asked and Mayui spoke up.
"They are Hiyui, Terui and Roi; our juniors from the academy and our 'rivals' for lack of better words" Mayui said "we have a lot of differences, Yuui and Hiyui have been going at it since childhood hood".
"Seriously?" Naruto asked and Yuui nodded.
"Oh yeah, she's just the diamond sprinkles on top of the turd cake of my life" Yuui said making Naruto and Yakumo sweat drop again "she's from a samurai clan and she only became a ninja for political reasons". "She thinks she's so perfect because she broke all my academy records, has a richer family than me, is pretty and a normal height for a girl that doesn't scare away all the boys" Yuui said before growling and stomping "It's not my damn fault I never stopped growing".
"And Terui is just a total bitch" Mayui said "she stole my boyfriend from me a few years ago; and in return I banged her younger brother". Naruto and Yakumo went wide eyed at this and she continued "and it probably doesn't help ever since then I've met up with him for booty calls every once in a while" she said rubbing the back of her head while blushing.
"Ok…" Yakumo asked before looking at Koyoi "but why are you and Roi so nice to each other?"
Koyoi looked at her and pointed his thumb at Yuui and Mayui "because unlike these two bitches I actually try and make friends with people" Koyoi said making both Yuui and Mayui get tic marks "unlike women, men know how to make friends and not act catty".
"Yeah, he got you there" Naruto said as he wrapped his arm around Koyoi's shoulder "look at us; we've know each other for two weeks and we're already buds, girls need to learn how to get along".
"It's not just that Naruto" Yuui said as her tone changed "ever since daddy became Raikage after grandpa died, things have been tense in Kumo". Naruto and Yakumo both raised and eyebrow as she spoke "daddy has been trying to mend ties with other villages; in particular with Konoha and Suna, due the last war".
"Ok, what's wrong with that?" Yakumo asked and Yuui continued.
"Some in Kumo want to continue our isolationism and think we should be more hostile to other nations; Hiyui, her family and dozens of others in Kumo agree as well" Yuui said surprising them "and so far it's mostly in our favor; but there are those who still want to cling onto the past". "In particular our expansionist policies and our kidnapping of people with kekkei genkai" Yuui said and Naruto narrowed his eyes.
Naruto looked at Hiyui and her team in wariness as they talked amongst themselves 'seriously, didn't these guys learn anything from our last war?' Naruto thought before looking at Yuui and speaking. "Come on guys; lets relax while the other teams come in" Naruto said and everyone agreed; they all walked over to a desk and sat down, waiting as more teams were on their way.
1 hour later
Naruto was spinning a shuriken on his finger as he, Yuui, Yakumo, Koyoi and Mayui waited; over the past hour more teams arrived including the ones from Konoha. Naruto's old classmates were all huddled around a desk talking amongst themselves while he and Yakumo waited with Yuui and her team.
"Aww man; when are we going to get started?" Yuui whined as she played with her hair, twirling it around her finger "I want to show my stuff and kick some ass".
"Patience Yuui" Koyoi said as he used a file on his nails "the exams may start soon; so just hold your horses".
Naruto hearing this looked around as the room which barely had any people in it was now crowded with dozens of teams; from his count he sees 15 Kumo teams including Yuui's, 12 from Iwa and Suna including the one with Gaara, 5 Taki and Kusa teams, 4 Ame teams including Oboro's crew, 1 Oto team, 11 Konoha teams, 3 Kiri teams and 1 Kawa team.
"Man there are a lot of people here; I can't believe it" Naruto said looking around.
"I know it's quite a sight isn't it" Haku said appearing from behind Naruto; Naruto spun around and jumped back with a little yelp.
"HAKU!?" Naruto half shouted "what the hell, why are you here, you're a rogue ninja?"
Haku chuckled and pointed at his forehead protector "I am a Kiri ninja now" Haku said with a smile "Master Zabuza and I went back after the civil war ended a few months ago and we were granted clemency".
"Who the hell is this?" Yuui asked surprised as she nor did anyone else see or hear Haku sneak up on them.
"I'm Haku, I'm a friend of Naruto" Haku said with a smile "oh and by the way; I'm a boy".
"Oh so you're the boy Naruto was talking about" Koyoi said looking at Haku "nice to meet you; I'm Koyoi and I'm a boy too". "By the way, love your hair; what kind of product do you use?" Koyoi asked and Haku looked at him and chuckled.
"Well I mostly use regular soap, but I also use coconut oil to soften my hair and-" Haku began before Naruto cut in.
"No one gives a shit about that" Naruto said butting in "who's team are you on; there's no way someone like you could be on a team".
"Quite correct Naruto; I'm here by myself" Haku said with a smile "master Zabuza recommended me so I came; besides, he busy with his new job so he had no time for a team".
"Zabuza has a new job?" Yakumo asked "what is it?"
Meanwhile in a Kiri training ground: With Zabuza
"I'm going to train you hard you little shits" Zabuza said in his deep and gruff voice "you're going to learn how to kill you enemy without mercy; you're going to rip his guts out and strangle him with it". "I will turn you into soulless, merciless killing machines" Zabuza said with a dark aura around him "now… are you ready".
In front of him was a class of 50 children no older than 6 sitting on the ground looking at him with blank expressions; one of the kids raised his hand and spoke.
"When do we get our lunch breaks" the child asked and Zabuza grew a tic mark.
"Shinobi don't get lunch breaks kid" Zabuza said to him in nearly a growl "all you'll have to eat is your enemies souls when you rip them out". The young boy looked at Zabuza confused until he spoke again.
"So like… around ten thirty?" The child asked and Zabuza began to growl.
"Zabuza, what the hell?" came a female voice; everyone turned and saw a beautiful woman with long auburn hair with a bang covering one eye, hearing a blue battle dress and fishnets underneath waking over.
"Lady Mei" a girl cheered and all the children began to cheer as well; Mei looked over at the children with a smile and spoke.
"Hello children, sorry to interrupt but I must talk to Zabuza sensei real quick" Mei said and the children nodded before she looked at Zabuza with a scowl "listen to me you dick dragging around a body". "These children are our newest generation of Kiri ninja; we are not reliving what Yagura did" Mei said making Zabuza nervous "so no live combat, no full contact sparring, no leaving kids in the woods and no 'blood mist' rituals". Mei got in close and poked him in his chest "teach them how to be ninja, not killing machines; or I swear to Kami above I will turn your sorry ass into a puddle of lava".
Zabuza nodded vigorously, while he was powerful he was no match for Mei as she was the Mizukage for a reason "yes mam" Zabuza said and Mei nodded.
"Good" Mei said before turning to the children with a smile "children, if Zabuza sensei does anything unsafe please tell me or an adult you trust; because if he does…".
"You'll kill him" all the children responded and Mei nodded.
"Exactly" Mei said before looking at Zabuza and whispering "don't fuck up"; Mei turned on her heels and began to walk away and Zabuza gulped.
"Ok kids… how about we learn to make rabbit snares?" Zabuza said with a nervous chuckled; the kids cheered and Zabuza let out a sigh of relief 'damn woman, she takes all the fun out of being a sensei; so what if a kid dies here and there'. Zabuza let out a groan as he took out a spool of ninja wire 'this is going to be tougher than I thought' he thought as be began to show the kids how to make a snare.
Back to Naruto and the others
"Oh god, he's an instructor now?" Naruto said not believing what he was hearing "they let someone with the mental state of a serial killer train kids?"
"He's not that bad once you get to know him" Haku said trying to defend Zabuza.
"He killed our client for trying to save his country from being controlled by a mafia boss" Yakumo said and Haku looked at her.
"People are complicated" Haku said making everyone sweat drop.
"What the hell?" came another voice and Naruto and the group turned around and saw Sasuke, Sakura and Sai walking up with Sakura pointing at the group "what the hell is that sissy boy doing here?"
Both Haku and Koyoi got tic marks and glared at Sakura "Who're you calling a sissy boy?" Haku and Koyoi shouted at the same time before looking at each other.
"Oh… she was talking about you" Koyoi said to Haku with a light blush of embarrassment; Haku turned and looked at Sakura and spoke.
"I'm here representing Kiri; and if I may ask, what are you doing here?" Haku responded "if I remember correctly me and Zabuza both defeated your team quite easily". Sasuke growled at this and spoke.
"You caught us off guard, and that will not happen again" Sasuke said before looking at Naruto "first you associate yourself with this ogress of a woman; now you're hanging out with the treacherous transvestite, how disgraceful".
"What did you call me you prick!?" Yuui shouted hopping to her feet "how about I rip your pretty boy face off and shove it up your ass!?"; at this point the entire room was looking at the two groups having an arguement.
"Don't talk to Sasuke like that you bitch!" Sakura shouted at Yuui and Naruto spoke up.
"Shut the fuck up Sakura, go back and shut your mouth with Sasuke's dick again; it's the only good use for it" Naruto said to her and Sakura glared at him.
"What the fuck did you just say to me, orphan boy?" Sakura screeched.
Naruto clenched his fist and red lightning began to crackle from his gloved right hand, Yuui clench her fists as well and white lightning began to crackle from her gloved left hand; Sasuke activated his 2 tomoe sharingan and Sakura got ready to launch a genjutsu.
Yakumo was getting ready to break up the fight by grabbing Naruto while Mayui and Koyoi were going to grab Yuui; Sai was about to do the same by knocking out Sasuke and kicking Sakura away.
But before anything could happen a large puff of smoke exploded from the front of the room gaining everyone's attention; as the smoke cleared it revealed a large contingent of Kumo chunin and a lone female Kumo jonin.
"You better not be fighting in my exam room" Suzui said putting her hands on her tonfa's "because if you are I'm gonna have to disqualify you three"; she then pointed at Sasuke and his team and continued. "I saw you three as the instigators of the fight; so back your asses up or I'll drop you" Suzui said; Sasuke huffed and deactivated his sharingan and looked at Naruto.
"This isn't over" Sasuke said as she turned and walked away with his team.
Naruto and Yuui's lightning died down and they both had looks of annoyance on their faces "prick" they both said at the same time.
"Alright people, time to start the first exam of the chunin exams; my name is Suzui, I'm a jonin and proctor of this exam" Suzui said "not then before I begin, could you all kindly-". She suddenly made a hand sign and all the desks puffed into smoke making anyone sitting at them fall to the ground including Mayui and Koyoi; upon further inspection there were 70 squares about 3 feet by 3 feet in diameter "step into the squares with your teams".
Naruto and Yakumo along with everyone else went into the squares and stood close together, Yuui and her team were next to their square, while Haku was behind them all by himself.
"Ok then, now that everyone is inside their square it's time for me to announce the first exam" Suzui said as she made a hand sign and a puff of smoke behind her erupted. A map of a mountain appeared and Suzui continued "this is the map of a neighboring mountain to the academy, this is where the fist exam will take place". Suzui pointed at the map which had a massive tangle of red, blue, green, purple, yellow, orange, brown and pink lines "your first test will be navigating the maze within the mountain and finding a way out" she said making everyone go wide eyed.
"As you can see there are literally hundred of tunnels with varying directions; some of them go up, some go down, some have dead ends and some have drop offs" Suzui said as she pointed at the map "along with that you cannot go straight down or up, you might need to go up to go down; also along with that there will be dangers". "Me and my chunin set up traps within the tunnels which you can and will run into" Suzui said "along with that there will be not only hostile wild life inside the tunnels but also the other teams as well".
"What do you mean?" Hinata said raising her hand and speaking up "why do we need to fight if all we need to do is get out?"
"Good question little lady" Suzui said to Hinata with a smile "along with the maze there will also be doors of different colors to allow you to pass certain points to take a short cut"; Suzui pulled out eight different colored keys matching the colors of the tunnels. "Each of you will be given a key with a random color; you can either find a door with the same color or fight an enemy team to get a key of a different color" Suzui said with a smile "but beware, even though the keys will open a door, it might just be a dead end to waste your time and energy".
"What a drag" Shikamaru said gaining everyone's attention "so we might need to fight a team in order to get a key to advance ahead depending on the door; but there's also no guarantee that it'll open a door that'll help us".
"Exactly" Suzui said before looking to the entire room full of kids "oh and to make things a little harder, there will be a time limit as well; you have twelve hours to get out of there".
Everyone hearing this went wide eyed and Ino spoke up "twelve hours to navigate and entire mountain?" Ino said shocked.
"What'll happen if the time runs out?" Lee asked and Suzui spoke up.
"Then we'll come get anyone left inside the mountain; we're not monsters" Suzui said "any other questions?"
Yuui raised her hand and spoke "umm… if this is happening to the mountain next to us, why are we here?" Yuui asked "I mean why not start over there?"
"Simple, so you cannot know how to navigate the tunnels before the exams start" Suzui said.
"Ok" Yakumo said "so how do we get over there; I mean we have to go to the mountain somehow?"
"That's where the squares and your contracts come into play" Suzui said as she held up the contracts with their blood stamps "your blood will act as markers". Suzui with a smile and everyone went wide eyed "so… bye"; Suzui made a hand sign and suddenly every square went up into smoke and all 207 applicants vanished in a puff of smoke.
Inside the mountain: With Naruto and Yakumo
Naruto and Yakumo both hit the ground hard and both groaned "aw man that was dirty" Naruto whined as he stood up; he looked over to Yakumo and spoke "here let me help you".
Naruto held out his hand and Yakumo grabbed it and was helped up "thanks Naruto" Yakumo said before they both looked around. Both Naruto and Yakumo looked around and saw they were in a tunnel illuminated by lights above them; the tunnel was 10 feet across and about 15 feet high. In front of them was a key hanging from a string and Yakumo reached out and grabbed it "it's a green key" Yakumo said as she looked around and saw a pink marker on the wall "and we're in a pink tunnel".
"Ok so we either have to get a pink key or find a green door… cool" Naruto said with a smile.
"All right everyone" Suzui's voice said over an intercom "let the first exam of the chunin exams, begin"; there was a buzzer signaling the beginning.
"Alright Yakumo lets-" Naruto began until suddenly the lights shut off enshrouding both Naruto and Yakumo in total darkness.
"Oh by the way, you'll have no light to help you; I hope you all brought flashlights" Suzui said with a giggle before hanging up.
Both Naruto and Yakumo stood there in total darkness as the exams began; Yakumo reached out and grabbed Naruto's hand shaking like a leaf "well… shit" Naruto said.
