A/N: This one takes place now and Tucker is still around and heading HNT. Hank is also with HNT and is now a Lieutenant. I don't own any of the characters except my own.

Safe in Your Arms

When Elliot had come back to the NYPD, Olivia had a feeling that things were not going to go well for her. She knew that he would try to weasel his way back into her life but she never expected his job to put her in danger. She was being held hostage by someone Organized Crime had been investigating. She had just hoped that they would leave her son alone. She had been set up. SVU had gotten a call. Fin had been running late, so both Amanda and Kat had offered to go with her. The 3 of them had gone over and walked into the trap. The 3 of them had their guns, vests and phones taken away from them. At least Fin knew where they were headed. It had been several hours since he had heard from them, so he headed over there. He had knocked on the door but when someone answered it, they claimed Olivia, Amanda and Kat weren't there. He knew he was going to have to contact Hank but he decided to call Ed, since he was Hank's boss.

"What's goin' on, Tutuola?"

"I think Liv, Rollins and Kat are in trouble. They got a call earlier and when I hadn't heard from them, I went over there. The person that answered the door, said they weren't here. No one is answering their phones. It'll be Voight she needs but I thought I should call you."

"Where are you?"

Fin gave Ed the address.

"We'll be there as quickly as we can."

"Thanks."

Fin hung up. Ed had gone to talk to the unit.

"We have a situation involving 3 of our own. We aren't sure who we are dealing with at the moment, so we need to be careful."

"3 of our own? Who's in there?"

"Captain Benson and Detectives Rollins and Tamin.

Ed could see that Hank was about ready to blow.

"Hank, I know you wanna be the one to rescue Liv but you need to stay out of that house. Do I make myself clear? You will be the one she needs once she is out of there."

"Yeah, I get it."

"Gear up, everyone."

Everyone put their stuff on and headed to the address Fin had given them. By the time they got there, Fin was on the phone. Elliot arrived shortly after they did and Fin hung up.

"Stabler, what the hell are you doin' here? The only reason Liv, Rollins and Kat are in there in the first place is because of you and your unit."

"I need to be the one to get her out of there. She would want me to rescue her."

"Did she tell you that?"

"No but it was implied. I'm her partner."

"EX partner. Who abandoned her 10 years ago? Who ceased all communication with her in that time? Who never contacted her when she went through hell for 4 days? Who wasn't there for her when she was held hostage and was a witness when the suspect raped the teenage girl? Who wasn't there for her when she was blaming herself when her then Sergeant was shot? Who wasn't there for her when her adopted son was kidnapped by his biological grandmother? You made that choice."

"You haven't changed at all in 10 years, you know that, Tucker?"

"You're still a dumb ass and obviously haven't changed at all."

"It's not like you were there for her either."

"Maybe she neglected to tell you that she and I were in a relationship for about a year. I've been there for her a whole hell of a lot more than you have in these last 10 years."

"We'll obviously she wised up and dumped your ass. I'm the reason she isn't married. No man could ever live up to me anyway. Let's face it, I'm the best thing in her life right now and I need to rescue her to prove to her that we belong together."

"Says who?"

You must be Olivia's alleged fiancé. She'll never marry you. Why would she choose you over me? I'm obviously much better looking and besides, she's been in love with me since the moment we first worked together. We just couldn't do anything about it because I was married. Once I get her out of there, she'll dump your ass too and run off with me. It'll be her, me, her kid and my kids. Forever. As it should be."

Hank shoved Elliot into the trailer.

"Hank, he's not worth it. Stabler, I'm in charge here. Not you."

"Says who? The suspect is someone Organized Crime has been investigating."

"I head HNT but still know people in IAB. You step foot into that house and blow this case, you will be arrested and don't think I won't do it. I want Liv and Detectives Rollins and Tamin to get out of there safely."

Fin and Hank both glared at Elliot and then Carisi showed up.

"Have you heard anything?"

"The suspect must have taken their phones because no one is answering."

"What do we know?"

"Not a whole lot other than the suspect is allegedly someone Organized Crime is investigating."

"Is that why Stabler is here?"

"He thinks he needs to be the one to rescue Liv because he wants to prove to her that they belong together."

"Yeah, like she would ever leave Voight for him."

"She wouldn't 'cause she's smarter than that."

Then Phoebe showed up.

"Need any help?"

"Hey, Baby! Keep an eye on Stabler to make sure he doesn't go into the house. He thinks he needs to be the one to rescue Liv."

Phoebe rolled her eyes.

Then Ed got a call, so he answered it. The suspect had contacted him with Olivia's phone. He said he would only talk to Elliot because they had to finish this once and for all. Ed told him he would send him in on one condition: Benson, Rollins and Tamin had to be released. The suspect hung up before he answered Ed.

"Damn it!"

"What?"

"He said he would only talk to Stabler."

"So, I guess I'll be the hero after all. Just as it should be."

"I'm doing this against my better judgement. You are the last person I want to send in there."

"I know what I'm doing."

"Do you? You're the reason she's being held hostage in the first place. If you would leave her alone, this never would have happened."

"I will never leave Liv alone. As I said before, now that I'm back in her life, that's the reason why she isn't married yet. She wants me."

"Then I want to hear that from her."

"Oh, you will once I rescue her."

"If anything happens to her, so help me, I will hurt you."

"Keep your phone on, so I can contact you."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah."

"I mean it, Stabler!"

Elliot headed towards the house with a smirk on his face.

"I just want Liv, Rollins and Tamin out of there safely. I don't give a shit about Stabler. If I was still with IAB, he would not have been allowed to step foot in this city as a cop ever again. He was the reason I was so hard on SVU for all those years, along with Amaro. I've worked things out with everyone else including Amaro but I have my doubts about Stabler and me ever working things out. You know I still care about Liv and I would rather see you with her than him. You're right. It is her decision."

"He better not screw this up."

Elliot knocked on the door and was let in. He saw the woman he loved more than life itself with a gun to her head. All Olivia could do was shake her head and roll her eyes. She hated that he was the one inside the house. She wished it was Hank. She would give anything to be in Hank's arms at that moment.

"Let them go."

"Not until we finish this once and for all. If you don't give into my demands, she's dead. Release the other two."

"We're not leaving her."

"Then I have no other choice but to kill you."

Olivia told both Amanda and Kat to go and tell Hank and Noah she loved him. Amanda didn't want to leave Liv there alone. She didn't trust the guy nor did she trust Elliot. She and Kat were escorted out and then as soon as they were outside they slammed the door behind them. They ran down the stairs and Amanda ran right into Sonny's arms.

"You ok?"

"I'll be better once Liv is out of there safely. I don't trust either of them. Voight, she said to tell you and Noah she loves you."

"Thanks."

"I've tried contacting Stabler and he won't answer his phone. That son of a bitch is trying to do this by himself."

"He really has a high opinion of himself, doesn't he?"

"He pretty much always has."

Chief Garland arrived with Sergeant Bell and Ed filled them in as to what was going on.

"The suspect would only deal with Detective Stabler?"

"Unfortunately, yes. He released Detectives Rollins and Tamin but Captain Benson is still inside. Detective Stabler is the reason Captain Benson is in this situation in the first place."

"He hasn't been in the right frame of mind since he lost his wife."

"I get it, Sergeant but he has become obsessed with Captain Benson and she has told him repeatedly that she is not interested in him in that way. He's doing this to make himself look better in her eyes."

"Yeah, I know."

"He is ignoring my phone calls as well. I get he doesn't like me but he's disobeying orders. I told him to keep his phone on, so I could contact him."

Sergeant Bell rolled her eyes.

"He doesn't seem to think he needs to listen to anyone and that includes me. I will see that he is reprimanded."

They heard gunshots and then ESU rammed the door. Hank, Ed, Fin, Amanda, Carisi, Kat, Phoebe, Chief Garland and Sergeant Bell all ran in. Elliot had shot the suspect and the others as well. Olivia was in pain after hurting her leg. Elliot was about to pick her up when Hank came into the room.

"Keep your hands off of her!"

"Hank!"

"Babe, are you ok?"

"I am now that you're here."

Hank ran over to Olivia and then he wrapped his arms around her. She then she kissed him.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too."

"Liv, you do know what he is capable of, don't you? I mean, he's been to prison for threatening a firefighter. He killed the guy that killed his son and let someone else take the blame for it. He is only going to hurt you. I know all about Denny Woods too."

"I know absolutely everything. Hank and I don't have any secrets from each other. We know that you talked to Matt Casey about what happened between him and Hank. He called us. Keep your nose out of our business."

"He's going to get you hurt or worse."

"Who nearly got me hurt or worse in this situation? It wasn't Hank."

"I know I'm the reason you haven't married him yet. You want me."

"I love him. I'm not even happy that you're back with the NYPD. Things were going great until you showed up. You're trying to ruin my happiness. Do me a favor."

"Anything."

"Stay the hell out of my life."

"I'm the better man. I always have been."

"Really? I don't hear from you for 10 years but yet you still think you're a better man. You haven't changed at all. Not everything is about you."

"I need you to help me get through losing Kathy."

"You need to do that on your own. You have to deal with being a father to YOUR kids. They're not my kids. I love Hank and I only want to be with Hank for the rest of my life. Until you can accept that, then there is no place for you in my life."

"My kids would love to have you as their stepmom."

"We are NEVER going to happen. These people, who are here for me, are my family."

"Tucker isn't."

"He's been more supportive of me after what I have gone through these last 5 or so years than you were. Were you living under a rock in Italy when I was abducted by William Lewis? You had to have been. Hank and his former squad in Chicago had heard about it. If you cared about me as much as you claim you do, I would have heard from you long before now. If you can't accept that Ed is a big part of my life, again, there is no place for you in it."

"What can Hank give you that I can't?"

"His top priorities are me and our son. Your top priority is yourself. It always has been."

"I can't get through Kathy's death without you by my side."

"We will never be anything more than friends and even that is pushing it. I can't be friends with someone who treats me and others the way you do."

Seeing Hank with his arm around Olivia was pissing Elliot off. As Hank and Olivia turned to leave, Elliot punched Hank in the jaw. Hank wasn't too phased by it but he ended up shoving him into the wall and punched him in the stomach.

"You don't want to see me when I really get pissed off."

"I could kick your ass. I used to be a Marine."

"Elliot stop being such an arrogant ass!"

Olivia rolled her eyes and shook her head. This time Hank punched him in the nose. Elliot tried throwing a punch at Hank but Hank grabbed his hand. He squeezed it and twisted his arm.

"You touch me again and I'll break it. You bother Olivia again, I'll break it. Do I make myself clear?"

"We'll see about that."

"Here we go. El, grow up. I have told you numerous times that I want to be with Hank. Not you. You can't seem to take no for an answer."

"Because he is wrong for you, Liv. Why can't you see that?"

"You are so quick to judge Hank for things he's done but you're not much better. When his best friend died, protecting him, he had a hard time dealing with it. He didn't ask Al to do what he did. Al did it all on his own. Yes, it bothers him that his best friend died the way he did but Hank always looks out for the people he cares about. He finally made peace with Al's widow for what happened. He never once even considered turning his back on the rest of his unit or his family nor is he a quitter. He left the city he loves to be here with me. Ed offered him a job in HNT and I didn't expect them to get along as well as they do but they work well together. He could have taken over Organized Crime, since that it close to what he did in Chicago but he chose not to.

Hank left with Olivia and everyone else followed.

"Olivia, I'm sorry I did that."

"He deserved it. You ok?"

"I will be. I know, I'm on administrative leave."

"The Tucker with IAB wouldn't have tolerated that but because I have always hated Elliot Stabler, I'm glad someone finally did what I have wanted to do for years. He deserved it."

"I even think so. He gets on my nerves. Olivia, I don't know how you worked with him."

"Lately, neither do I. He never used to be this bad."

"I think I am going to request he has a psychiatric evaluation done."

"As his Commanding Officer, you have that right."

"I had no idea that Lieutenant Voight was offered Organized Crime."

"He was but he chose not to because he wanted something different. Ed was looking for someone for HNT, so he did that. He's the one that got Hank to take the Lieutenant's exam before he left Chicago. Ed said when he retires, then Hank can take over."

"I've been thinking about taking the Lieutenant's exam the next time it's offered. Detective Stabler has expressed interest in taking the Sergeant's exam."

"I'll tell you the same thing that I told Olivia when she told me that Nick Amaro wanted to take it when she took the Lieutenant's exam: no matter how well he does on the exam, the NYPD won't promote him. Hank and I had a long talk before I brought him into HNT and I knew everything. The IAB version of me probably never would have hired him but I will say this, he's damn good at his job. If I was still with IAB, I would not have allowed Stabler to come back here to the NYPD. I had heard he was a liaison outside the United States but I was not happy about it."

"I have to agree with Captain Tucker. When he barged in when they had a person of interest in his wife's attempted murder and tried going after him in the Interrogation Room, there is no way the NYPD would promote him. Attacking a higher ranking officer just because he's jealous of who Captain Benson chooses to be with is not acceptable behavior either. Lieutenant Voight was defending himself. Lieutenant Voight could file charges against Detective Stabler, so that doesn't look good for him either."

"I see both points and yes, his behavior today is unacceptable. Of course it is most of the time."

"Why didn't you ever say anything if you knew?"

"I've seen the woman you have become since he left and I knew you could do better than him but it was classified information. He was holding you back. This was before we even started getting along. Even Cragen knew Stabler never would have gone any further than Detective."

"I guess I can see that. Honey, I want you to get looked at."

"I'm fine."

"You sound like me."

"I don't think you're fine."

"My leg does hurt."

Everyone left and headed wherever they were going. Olivia and Hank both ended up going to the hospital and he ended up only having a bruised jaw, while she ended up having a fractured knee. IAB had shown up at the hospital, so Hank talked to them about what had happened with Elliot because Elliot apparently went there himself and said Hank punched him first. They talked to Olivia at the hospital as well. Ed, the rest of SVU, Phoebe and Sergeant Bell had to talk to them as well since they had seen the incident. Once Hank and Olivia were done talking to IAB, they went home. When they got home, Hank took Olivia upstairs and got her settled in bed.

"I can't believe he lied to IAB."

"He won't stop, will he?"

"Apparently not. I'm sure Ed set them straight. Elliot's IAB file I'm sure is pretty huge."

"I just don't want you upset with me."

"I'm not. I trust you completely and he clearly deserved it. Sure there was a time when I was being held by Lewis that I had hoped Elliot would have shown up but he never did. I got myself out of that mess. I don't need him anymore. You've made me a stronger person."

"I take it that comment you made about me not being a quitter was a dig at him."

"It sure was."

"Is he the reason we haven't gotten married yet?"

"Absolutely not. You know I love you and that won't ever change. He has nothing to do with any decisions that I make. If he wants to be in my life he has to accept that I'm with you and he has to accept that Ed is a big part of my life. Ed has been more supportive than I ever expected him to be. So far, Elliot has not shown that he can accept either, so he won't be in my life. I don't need him. Maybe I did once but he's jealous that I have someone. He's supposedly an adult and needs to get through losing his wife on his own. It'll take time. It has for you and I know you still miss her. You probably always will."

"I will but you have helped fill that void just like Noah has helped fill the void Justin's death left in my heart."

"I feel safer with you than I ever did with Elliot. He needs to stop making everything all about him. When I saw him come in, I wished it had been you."

"He seems to have a high opinion of himself."

"He always has. I love you more than life itself."

"I love you too. He's probably going to try to stop us from getting married."

"As far as I'm concerned, we're married in all but name and we will be taking care of that in the next few days anyway. I told IAB that I want him to stay away from us and I got Carisi to file a Restraining Order."

"Even with your leg, you still want to do this?"

"Nothing or no one is going to stop me from marrying the man I love."

They kissed and then Olivia fell asleep for a while. Hank went to pick up Noah from his friend's house and then they fixed something for dinner. Erin was coming over and Olive and Daniel were coming in for the rest of the week. Erin had picked them up before she came over. They had told them about the day they had but nothing was going to stop them from getting married.

Hank had taken the rest of the week off as well as the following week for their honeymoon. Olivia still wanted to go somewhere even with her injured leg. By the end of the week, in front of their family and friends, Hank and Olivia became husband and wife. They also had a reception following. The next day, they left for their week long honeymoon.
