Proud of You

Olivia had been having a weird day. She had had a dream about Ed telling her to be careful and she couldn't shake it off. She had somehow now become Elliot Stabler's babysitter. Elliot was on his way to Chicago of all places for a case. She had warned Hank of what Elliot was capable of and told him she would be there as soon as she could. She had a parent-teacher conference with Noah's teacher in the morning. She also knew what Hank was capable of in both the Interrogation Room and the bedroom. She had not been disappointed in the latter. She also knew that Elliot had very strong feelings for her. She had yet to tell him that she had someone in her life. It really wasn't his business. If it wasn't for him leaving, she never would have been in some of the relationships she had been in. She missed Ed and she was hopelessly in love with Hank. She couldn't wait to see him. Her flight landed at O'Hare and then she got an Uber as soon as she got her bag. Shortly before she got there, they had finally gotten someone in custody but Hank was becoming annoyed with Elliot, who seemed to take over the case.

"Who is this douchebag detective anyway?"

"Olivia's former partner. She compared us when we first met. She told me that he has told her he's in love with her."

"He's the one that quit his job because he couldn't deal with what had happened after he had shot some girl?"

"Yep. He's been annoying the hell out of Olivia and this is the first time I've met the guy and he's already annoying the hell out of me. There should probably be someone higher ranking in there, so I guess that has to be me."

Hank went into the Interrogation Room and stood by the door with his arms folded in front of his chest.

"I got this."

"Around here we need more than one person in the Interrogation Room and I am the highest ranking officer here."

"This is my suspect."

"This is my District and my City."

"Fine."

Hank stayed right where he was, while Elliot started interrogating the suspect. By the time Olivia got there and Trudy brought her up, Elliot was starting to roll up his sleeves.

"Oh, geez! The two of them are in there together? Who's losing it first?"

"Stabler. Voight has become so annoyed with him and honestly, I don't blame him. He's got a high opinion of himself."

"He always has. I'm not sure how I got stuck being his babysitter other than the fact that this was related to something we did from years ago. I'm only here because I wanted to spend some time with Hank anyway. You didn't say anything to him about me and Hank, did you?"

"We were instructed not to say anything. Voight has been better lately and we know that has a lot to do with you.

Elliot grabbed the suspect out of the chair and put him against the wall. Hank went over and grabbed Elliot by the shirt.

"Get your hands off of me!"

"You're done with this interrogation!"

Hank opened the door, dragged Elliot out and had Jay and Hailey take over.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Do you not get that we have cameras in our Interrogation Room?"

"Not my problem."

"It's gonna be your problem."

Hank took Elliot to his office and Olivia followed.

"I honestly don't know how any sane person could work with you. Ever since you stepped foot in my City and tried 'helping' with this case, you have been nothing but disrespectful to me and my unit. Not only that but you are disrespecting the NYPD and Captain Benson."

"I actually have better things to do with my time than to be here babysitting you, Detective."

"Yet you're here. I knew you'd show up."

"Did you?"

"You can't resist me. You never could."

"Get the hell over yourself. I have tried telling you multiple times that I am not interested in you as anything more than a friend. That's even pushing it. Sergeant Voight is right. You are disrespecting me. You always have."

"Why would I disrespect someone I care about so much?"

"You don't care about anyone but yourself. As far as I'm concerned, we're not even friends."

"When have I ever disrespected you?"

"All the times lately when you roll up your sleeves and feel the need to rough up the suspects. You have to stop doing that. You had no business being in the Interrogation Room in the first place when we were talking to the person of interest in Kathy's attempted murder but you lied to me when you told me you would behave. You haven't changed at all. I nearly got into trouble with Chief Garland and had to make excuses for you. No more. This is strike two. The next time it happens, you'll be suspended."

"You're not my boss."

"I realize that, Detective but I outrank her and you. I have worked with Sergeant Voight multiple times and he has never disrespected me once."

"It was much more fun to work with you when I ranked higher than you. You've turned into a real bitch."

"There you go disrespecting me again. You never would have been promoted anyway. I had another Detective, who was pretty much the younger version of you except he helped me grow and was there for me when I needed him. Anyway, when I was planning to take the Lieutenant's exam, he told me that he was interested in taking the Sergeant's exam because Fin didn't want to do it. I was told that even if Nick had gotten a perfect score on the exam, he would be overlooked for a promotion because of his history of anger issues. I'm pretty sure the same would apply to you."

"When were you planning to tell me that you were banging Tucker?"

"My personal life is none of your damn business."

"What were you thinkin', Liv? Were you that desperate?"

"Go to hell! You're the one who's desperate. You're wife hasn't been dead all that long and you're already looking for someone to replace her. You need to be a father to your kids or at least to Eli before you worry about your love life. Ed turned out to be more man than you will ever be. You were the reason he came down so hard on SVU. He changed. You obviously haven't."

"I know for a fact that you'll never get married."

"Oh and how do you know that?"

"Because no one will ever compare to me."

"You don't know a damn thing about me. Get the hell out of here and stay out of my life! Don't ever contact me again and don't come to the Precinct."

Elliot stormed out of Hank's office. Hank slammed the door and adjusted the blinds. He wrapped his arms around Olivia as she cried. He hated when she was upset.

"I hate that he is trying to weasel his way back into my life."

"Apparently he's also trying to weasel his way into your bed."

"Hank, I wouldn't want him if he was the only man on earth. I love you and I am so proud of you for how you handled the situation. I cannot wait to be your wife."

They started kissing and then they both sat down on the sofa.

"Now I am beginning to understand that dream I had."

"What dream?"

"I had a dream about Ed that I couldn't shake. He was telling me to be careful. I wonder if he was referring to Elliot."

"Maybe he was. He'll always be looking out for you just like Camille and Justin are looking out me the rest of the family. I know Al is looking out for us too. You do plan on marrying me, right?"

"Yes, I do. You, Noah, Erin, Olive and Daniel are my family."

They decided to go back by the Interrogation Room to see how things were coming with the suspect.

"I really am proud of you, you know."

"I know."

Olivia kissed Hank again just as he opened the door and everyone including Elliot were coming back to the Bullpen. Elliot was glaring at her.

"Sarge, Captain, you got a minute?"

"Yeah."

Hank, Olivia, Jay and Hailey went into Hank's office and they discussed the case. Hank put into a call to the State's Attorney as well. Elliot was hurt by the fact that he didn't know that Olivia was with someone, let alone practically under his nose. He felt betrayed because he had finally opened up to her about how he really felt about her. The least she could have done was tell him she was in a relationship but a part of him really didn't expect her to still be single. Once they were done talking, the four of them came out of Hank's office.

"Liv, I apologize for what happened earlier."

"That's Captain Benson to you, Detective."

"You can't be serious."

"I am serious."

The Assistant State's Attorney came in. It was Peter.

"Olivia."

"Peter."

"How are things going?"

"Not too bad. I was promoted to Captain and Carisi is now the ADA for SVU."

"Congratulations on your promotion and to Carisi. That's great to hear."

"Thank you."

"How's Noah?"

"He's good. He's into dancing now."

"That's great."

"How are you?"

"I've been ok. I still miss Pam so much though."

"That was rough how all that happened. I still feel so bad about it."

"I feel like I let my father down because she was murdered."

"Did you come back here right away?"

"No. I took some time off and asked Mark if I could have my job back. I apologize for how I just up and left like that."

"It's ok. It's good to see you. Maybe you can meet us at Molly's later."

"That would be great."

They told Peter what was going on and then they decided to charge the suspect. Everyone left for the day and headed to Molly's except for Elliot, who decided to head back to New York. Olivia spent some time getting caught up with Peter and showed him the videos of some of Noah's recitals. Olivia had decided to stay for the weekend, so Hank told Jay he was in charge and not to call him unless it was absolutely necessary. After a while, she and Hank left. They ordered Chinese carryout for dinner and went back to Hank's house. They ate dinner and then they called Noah, who was staying with Amanda and the girls. After they were done talking to Noah and Amanda, Olivia called Fin and Sergeant Bell and let them know what had happened with Elliot. Fin said he would talk to Chief Garland. While Olivia was on the phone, Hank started kissing her neck. After she hung up, they went up to Hank's bedroom and made love.

During the rest of Olivia's time in Chicago, they spend some time together. Before she went back to New York, she and Hank discussed their future. Hank told her that he had been thinking about retiring. He wanted to be a stay at home dad to Noah. She told him that she just wanted to be with him and didn't want to wait much longer before they finally made it official. Hank took her to the airport and told her to let him know when she got home. She told him she would. They kissed and then she went to get checked in before heading through security and then the gate. These goodbyes were always hard for them but pretty soon, they would be together all the time.
