A/N: Just something else that popped into my head. I know Noah can't really do what he did because of his age but for this, we'll say it happened. I don't own any of the characters.
Running Away
Noah had been having a hard time since Olivia and Hank's break up. He loved Hank and he knew Hank loved him too. He didn't blame Hank for the break up. He blamed his mother. Being in a long distance was bad enough but ever since Elliot had been back in Olivia's life, she was spending quite a bit of time with him. Hank didn't like it, so he told Olivia that she needed to figure things out and she gave him her engagement ring back. Noah hated the entire situation. Whenever Elliot was over and Olivia was in the room, he was nice to Noah but when she wasn't, he wasn't as nice. Noah had tried talking to Olivia about it but she assured him that Elliot was a nice person.
One Saturday morning, Olivia had gotten called into work, so instead of bothering Lucy, she asked Elliot to come stay with Noah. He told her he'd be happy to. When Olivia told Noah, he was less than thrilled. She told him that Elliot wanted to be a bigger part of his life. Noah knew better. Olivia went to finish getting ready and Noah was finishing his breakfast. He knew Olivia kept a credit card in the kitchen drawer when they ordered take out and that gave him an idea. He took the card and put it in his pocket before going into his room to get dressed. He had planned to spend the entire time Olivia was gone in his room reading the book he was doing a book report on, since he had already finished the rest of his homework, just to he didn't have to spend much time with Elliot.
"Noah, Elliot is here."
Just hearing her say that made him cringe. Noah came out of his room.
"Bye, Mom."
"Bye. Have fun, you two."
"We will."
"Thanks for doing this."
"For you, anything. You know that."
Olivia kissed Noah and then she headed to wherever she was headed.
"So, what did you want to do?"
"I have homework to do."
"There's no need to give me that attitude of yours. I love your mom very much."
"She was a lot happier until you ruined everything."
"I don't want you to ruin this for me. I think Boarding School will be the best place for you or maybe Military School. You need to be toughened up a bit and that way I can have Liv all to myself. Now, go to your room and stay there."
"You're not my dad."
"No shit, Sherlock but you need a stable man in your life and that loser she was with before obviously wasn't."
Noah went into his room and slammed the door. He decided to see if he could get a plane ticket to Chicago. He wanted to see Hank and it couldn't really be that hard. He managed to get one and printed everything out on his printer. He then stuffed some clothes into his backpack. He went out of his room to the bathroom. He noticed Elliot was sleeping on Olivia's bed. He rolled his eyes, went into the bathroom and got more stuff to take with him. He went back into his bedroom and took what cash he had. He came out of his bedroom again and looked to make sure Elliot was still asleep. He was, so he put Olivia's credit card back in the drawer, snuck out and took a taxi to the airport. He left his tablet. He had his phone but shut it off before he left, since he didn't want anyone to know where he was. Just yet. Being a cop's son and hanging around with Hank's squad and Erin, he knew all the tricks. He had taken his passport just in case as well. When he arrived at the airport, he paid the driver and had gotten checked in without any issues. He went through security and went to the gate. Hopefully by the time Olivia got home, he would be in the air on his way to Chicago and then she'd get mad at Elliot.
The flight to Chicago was boarding. Noah got on the plane and waited for it to take off. He couldn't wait to see Hank. The plane took off and Noah had read his book to pass the time. SVU's case had ended quicker than they expected, so Olivia went home. She opened Noah's door and didn't see him in his room. She hadn't seen Elliot until she went into her bedroom and saw him asleep on her bed.
"El, where's Noah?"
"Huh? What?"
"Where's Noah?"
"In his room."
"He's not there."
"Of course he is. He was there a little while ago."
"How long ago?"
"Right after you left."
"That was how long ago? Where is he?"
"I don't know but I'll help you look."
Olivia had an app on her phone that would tell her his location but when she didn't see him, she knew his phone had been shut off. She called Fin and Rollins to tell them he was missing and also told them to meet her at the Precinct.
"You want me to come with you?"
"No, I don't. You're the one that wanted to spend time with my son and I come home to find him missing and you asleep in my bed no less. Go home!"
"I'm sorry."
"You should be sorry."
Elliot left and headed home, while Olivia headed to the Precinct. She had someone looking on traffic cams and started calling around to his friends to see if any of them had seen him. She knew he hadn't been taken because nothing in the apartment looked like anyone had broken in. Where was he?
The plane had arrived in Chicago, Noah got off the plane and took another taxi to Hank's. He had no idea if Hank was even going to be home. When the taxi arrived at Hank's he paid the driver and went to ring the doorbell. Hank answered.
"Hey, kiddo."
Noah wrapped his arms around Hank.
"Where's your mom?"
"In New York. I ran away from home and I needed to see you.
Hank let Noah in and he told him everything that had happened. Meanwhile, Fin and Amanda had arrived back at the Precinct.
"What's goin' on, Liv?"
"I have no idea where my son is. I left Elliot with him and by the time I got back, Noah was nowhere to be seen and Elliot was asleep on my bed."
Fin raised his eyebrows at that.
"Nothing has happened between us."
"You sure?"
"Yes, Fin! I'm not that stupid. I told him I don't think he's ready for a relationship just yet and I know I'm not. I'm not completely over Hank and I'm not sure I ever will be."
"Did you think to call Voight?"
"I did not."
Olivia pulled out her phone and called Hank. Noah had fallen asleep, so when Hank saw it was her, he went into his bedroom and shut the door.
"He's here."
"What?"
"He doesn't like how things have turned out. He told me Elliot threatened to send him off to Boarding School or Military School to toughen him up, so he can have you all to himself."
"He's been trying to tell me that when I'm not in the room, Elliot has not been nice to him and I wouldn't listen. I told him that Elliot wanted to be his friend."
"He also told me that Elliot told he needed a stable man in his life and the last loser you were with definitely wasn't. Noah took your credit card from the drawer and bought a plane ticket. He did put the card back."
"He turned his phone off."
"He told me not to call you but I was just thinking about doing it anyway."
"I'll call off the search here and I think he needs some time to cool off. I'll get a flight out later this afternoon."
"Ok."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. I still love him."
"I know you do."
"And I still love you. I probably always will."
"Elliot obviously wants a more serious relationship but I told him he isn't ready and honestly, I'm not either. I'm not over you and I'm not so sure I ever will be. I'm still in love with you too."
"I'll see you later."
"Don't tell Noah yet."
"I won't. Let me know when your flight is due in and we'll come get you."
"Ok, I will."
Olivia hung up the phone and went out into the squadroom.
"He's in Chicago with Hank. Elliot is the reason he ran away."
"What the hell happened?"
"Apparently Elliot told him he should ship Noah off to Boarding School or Military School to toughen him up and so he can have me all to himself. He also told Noah that he needs a stable man in his life and that last loser I was with definitely was not."
"Like he is."
"Exactly. He sure as hell isn't stable now."
Olivia told everyone there that Noah had been found and then she went back into her office to make her reservations for her flight to Chicago. Fin and Amanda stuck around for a little while. Then Elliot came in. Fin and Amanda both glared at him. He went to Olivia's office.
"I wanna help."
"You've done enough."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"My son ran away no thanks to you."
"I didn't do anything to him?"
"Oh, no? He ran away to Chicago to be with Hank."
"When is that loser gonna leave you and Noah alone?"
"He had nothing to do with it. I called him to tell him about Noah and he told me he was there. He told me Noah said you told him that you wanted to ship him off to Boarding School or Military School to toughen him up and so you could have me all to yourself."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Cut the crap! You've been trying to get me into bed since you've been back in my life even when you knew I was in a relationship and happy."
"You weren't happy because you weren't with me."
"Just stop it right now! You don't know a damn thing about me anymore. I am not the same person I was 10 years ago. My son is my top priority."
"As he should be. I looked into that ex of yours and I'm not sure what you see in him."
"I know all about his past. He and I have no secrets from each other. He knows more about me than you do."
"I doubt that."
"Trust me, he does and I have a deeper connection to him than you."
"That's bullshit and you know it! There is nothing stopping us from being together. Your son can't stop us. We're adults and he's a kid. It's always been you, Liv. I should have divorced Kathy years ago."
"It never would have worked out between us. You never would have had my heart the way Hank does."
"The way he DID. You're not with that loser anymore."
"You'll never change. You need to mourn your wife in your own way and for the first time in your life, you need to get your head on straight. Listen carefully because I am only going to say this once: don't you ever refer to Hank as a loser again because he is more man than you will ever be! Stay the hell away from me and my son and stay out of my life! Don't come to my apartment looking for sympathy anymore and don't ever contact me again! For anything and that includes cases. Do I make myself clear, Detective Stabler?"
"We'll see about that."
Elliot gave her a smirk. Olivia was so pissed at him right now that she just punched him in the face. Fin and Amanda had hear the entire conversation and didn't blame her for punching him. After Olivia left and headed home and Elliot and his bruised ego went home, Fin and Amanda were still at the Precinct.
"Damn! I've been wanting to do that for a long time."
"I was not impressed by him when he showed up here when we were interrogating that guy."
"He's always been full of himself."
"I saw what Voight was capable of in the Interrogation Room but Stabler is worse."
"Yeah, he is. Voight at least respects Liv and genuinely cares for her and Noah. He would never sabotage one of her relationships. He respected her decision when she told him she was with Tucker even though he had told her how he felt about her. Liv has worked hard to be where she is now and a lot of that was because Stabler left and she became the person she is now. Ever since he came back into the picture, she's questioning herself again."
"Like she used to do when she first started seein' Tucker."
"Exactly and that includes her relationship with Voight. He's playin' with her head and her emotions. He's using her to help him get over Kathy's death. I get that everyone is different but Kathy's barely in her grave and he's tryin' to be in a romantic relationship with Liv. That's just messed up even for him."
"Not to mention disrespectful to her memory. Voight lost his wife and it took him a while before he realized he was in love with Liv."
"Yeah. He and Liv were practically married and then all of a sudden Stabler comes back into her life and messes that up. She was havin' a hard enough time gettin' over Tucker's death but Voight has been her rock through everything she has been through these last few years. He was the one that kept her sane when Cassidy had her investigated for abusin' Noah and when Sheila kidnapped him. We were the ones that were there for her after what happened with Lewis. Not Stabler. He obviously didn't care that Noah ran away from home, while he was stayin' with him. Do I blame Noah? No."
"Maybe this is what Liv needed to help her realize that Voight is the one she wants to be with."
"Yeah, maybe. He did tell her she needed to figure things out but after what she said earlier, we know where her heart is and it ain't with Stabler. That's for damn sure. I just think we need to make sure Stabler does stay away from her and Noah."
"I agree."
"We have a day or two to figure stuff out."
"Yep."
Fin and Amanda left and headed home. Olivia had arrived at her apartment, she iced her hand. How could she have been so stupid to not listen to Noah when he told her that Elliot was nice to him when she was in the room but was rude to him when she wasn't? She blamed Elliot for everything. He was the one that kept showing up at her apartment and acted like he wanted to get to know her son. Honestly, she didn't blame Hank for what had happened between them. At first she thought she and Elliot were just making up for lost time but then he'd show up looking for sympathy and tell her she was his only friend. He had also tried kissing her on several occasions, which she was not comfortable with. Once Olivia got her stuff, she headed to the airport and grabbed bite to eat before she went to the gate. As mad as she wanted to be at Noah, she was just so glad he was safe and he was with someone she knew she could trust. Elliot had let her down. Again. This time, she was done with him for good. She texted Hank to let him know when her flight would be in and he told her they would pick her up.
The flight took off and a couple hours later, it landed in Chicago. She went to get her bag and found Hank and Noah waiting for her in Baggage Claim.
"You are grounded for a month, young man!"
"Ok but I'm sorry."
"You should be sorry. Do you have any idea how scared I was when I came home and you weren't there?"
"He didn't care."
"I am so sorry about all that. I should have listened to you. Come here."
Noah ran into Olivia's arms and they both had tears running down their cheeks. Olivia looked at Hank and then she wrapped her arms around him.
"Can you forgive me?"
"I always did have a hard time saying no to you."
"I am so sorry for everything. I love you so much."
"I know you are and I love you too."
"These last few months have made me so crazy being apart from you."
"Me too."
Olivia kissed Hank and then they headed to his SUV, so he could drive home. They stopped for dinner and then they went home. Noah went to get ready for bed and read his book for a while, while Hank and Olivia stayed down in the living room.
"If you want me to, I'll sleep in the other bedroom."
"Did you sleep with Elliot?"
"No. He wants to but the only man I want to be with is you. He's tried kissing me on a couple occasions but I was not comfortable with that. Once I told him to back off, he quit. When I came home from my case, which is why he was with Noah in the first place, I found him sleeping on my bed. I don't even want to think about what else he did on my bed as he thought about me. I told him off and told him to stay out of my life before I punched him. He told me he looked into you and he doesn't get what I see in you."
"Noah said he called me a loser."
"Why do you think I punched him? He is so disrespectful it's not even funny anymore."
"I have to admit that even though we weren't together, I was thinking about moving to New York to be closer to Erin and obviously you and Noah. That way if you needed someone to stay with him, I'd be close by. Even though I'm not officially his dad, it feels like I am."
"You're the closest he has had to having a dad. At least you genuinely love him and would never ship him off to Boarding School or Military School to "toughen" him up just so you can have me all to yourself."
"All I do is send him to his room to watch a movie. Although I think he knows when we need time alone."
"He does. Thinking about it, he came here on purpose. He wanted me to realize where my heart belonged and that's with you. It's always been you. I think I just needed a swift kick in the ass from someone and that happened to be my son."
"You do have a sexy ass though."
"Do I?"
"Uh huh."
"Yours isn't so bad either. Can I have my ring back?"
"I'll think about it."
"Smart ass!"
They both laughed before they started kissing and then they got up. Hank made sure the house was locked up, took Olivia's hand and they headed up the stairs to his bedroom. Hank shut the door and then he took her engagement ring out of the bedside table. He put it back on her finger where it belonged and they started kissing again. They undressed each other, got on the bed and made love. Noah wasn't completely asleep but he heard them in Hank's bedroom, since Olivia was not very quiet. He couldn't help but grin at himself for helping the two people he loved the most in this world get back together. He knew what he did was wrong but he had seen firsthand that Olivia hadn't been as happy since she and Hank had broken up. Hank had always been a dad to him and he knew he would never try to send him somewhere just so he could have Olivia to himself. He knew the three of them would be a family from now on.
