Accepting the Challenge

When Olivia had gone back to New York, Hank went with her and they had looked for a new place to live. They found something they liked and put a bid on it. Their bid had been accepted.

A couple months later, Hank had retired and moved to New York. They had already closed on the new place but Olivia still had a lot to go through at her apartment, so she was back and forth between the two places. Some nights she had just stayed at the apartment. Their new place was a little closer to the Precinct but Noah was still able to go to the same school. Noah loved the new place and Olivia always had someone she could depend on to stay with Noah when she had to go in. She was still blaming herself for Noah running away but she promised Noah that would never happen again. Now with Hank around, they were using Lucy a lot less but she had become the regular Nanny for Jesse and Billie as the Nanny they had wasn't really working out.

Hank loved being able to spend more time with Noah and he had also started going to a gym. Back in Chicago when Antonio owned the gym, he went there and Antonio taught him to box, which had really helped him to relieve some of his anger. Whenever he felt the need to punch someone or something, he would take his frustrations out on a punching bag, much like he had when he and Olivia had temporarily broken up. He was just glad it was temporary. He loved that woman so much and would do anything for her.

It was only another week until she and Hank were getting married but the only people that knew were her squad, including Carisi, Lucy, Erin, Olive and Daniel. They were just planning to go to the Courthouse to make it official before she and Hank went to Hawaii for a week. She didn't want a big deal made as she didn't want anyone, namely Elliot Stabler, to mess things up for them. While they were gone, Noah was going to stay with Amanda and then he would get to spend some time with Lucy. They had asked Erin but she was heading out of town. As it was, she had to rearrange her schedule to be there for the wedding.

They had gotten up and had breakfast. Olivia had been planning to go to the apartment for a while but then she had gotten a call. Hank said Noah wanted to go to the park, so Olivia said she would meet them there once she was done. She had hoped this wouldn't take too long. She kissed both of them and left. Hank and Noah both got ready and then maybe an hour later, they walked over to the park. Noah wanted to throw the baseball around, which was something he had lost interest in when Peter had disappeared from his life but Hank had told him he would do whatever he wanted. He also fully supported Noah's decision to want to dance and he was actually quite good. Noah decided that was what he wanted. They found a spot that wasn't in the way of too many people and threw the ball around. While they were playing, Noah noticed someone walking on the sidewalk towards them.

"Dad."

"Yeah, Bud."

"That's him."

"Who?"

"Elliot."

"Is it?"

"Yep.

Elliot knew he was supposed to stay away from Olivia and Noah but he just couldn't help himself. He was in the mood to cause trouble.

"Hey, Noah."

Noah didn't say anything but gave Elliot a phony smile.

"So, you must be Hank."

"I must be."

"You know, if it wasn't for you and this brat or hers, Liv and I would probably be together right now."

"I highly doubt that."

"I bet we would. There was a point when she was in love with me and I was in love with her. Actually, I still am in love with her. That never changed."

"It's her decision and she obviously doesn't love you anymore. She's a big girl and quite capable of making her own decisions."

"I don't like that she's apparently back with you. She deserves someone so much better than a hothead like you. You know, a real man like me. I also don't like that she claims she has more of a connection with you. The connection she and I have is undeniable."

"Had. She has made it perfectly clear that she doesn't want you. She's not the same person she was a decade ago. From what I've heard, you're a hothead too. I've learned to control my temper for her and for Noah. I also don't treat her like a piece of property nor do I have an obsession with someone I can't have."

"What can you give her that I can't?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Yeah, actually, I would."

"That's between me and her."

"Why would she want a wimp like you when she could have me and my gorgeous body? I'm sure I'd win a fight between us."

"You really have a high opinion of yourself, don't you?"

"It's true."

"My dad is not a wimp!"

"Why don't you just shut up, you whiny little brat! No wonder you're such a little wimp. Look who you're role model is. Wouldn't you rather have me as your daddy?"

"No! You are the last person I would want as my father."

"How about this? I kick your ass, which I will, you take this wimpy kid and get out of Liv's life for good, so she and I can freely be together. If you win…oh, wait, that's not gonna happen."

"Can't you be an adult about this?"

"What do you mean? I am an adult. What, are you chicken?"

"No."

"Then fight me."

"Not here."

Elliot looked and saw that there were people watching them. Some of them were taking videos with their phones.

"Right here, right now."

"Noah, go over by the playground."

"No. I think he needs to see me kick your ass."

"Don't be so sure of yourself."

"I'm a former Marine. I'm a lot tougher than you."

"Good for you."

Elliot took off his jacket and then cracked his knuckles. Hank took his off and looked at Noah, who actually looked scared.

"Remember, when I win, I get Liv and you stay the hell out of her life."

Elliot shoved Hank first and then Hank shoved him back. Elliot ended up on the ground and then they both started throwing punches. Noah ended up calling Olivia.

"Hey, Sweetie. I'll be there soon."

"Uh, Mom, I thought you'd like to know that Dad and Elliot are fighting at the park. Elliot started it."

"What? Why doesn't that surprise me? I'm on my way."

Olivia hung up with Noah and put her lights and sirens on. Fin and Amanda were both with her. When they arrived at the park, the 3 of them got out of Olivia's SUV and ran over to where they were. Noah was now over by the playground. Amanda went to go check on him.

"Damn! You want me to break this up, Liv?"

"I got it. Detective Stabler, you better stop that right now!

"Stay out of this, Liv."

"Whether you're off duty or not, Detective, I outrank you. You will treat me with respect. Maybe I should have you written up for insubordination."

"You've turned into a real bitch, you know that?"

"What did you just say to me, Stabler?"

"You heard me, Bitch!

Elliot started coming towards her, so she grabbed her Tazer and pointed it at him. She tazed him and he fell to the ground.

"What the hell?"

"It serves you right. I told you to stay away from me and my son. That also includes Hank."

"Oh and by the way, the letter, Kathy wrote it. Except for the last part, which I wrote myself. I love you, Liv. I need you to help me be whole again."

"Go to hell! I wouldn't be with you if you were the only man on earth. Stay the hell out of my life! Fin, lock this piece of crap up and I will deal with the other one."

"Got it, Liv. Let's go, dumb ass!"

Fin cuffed Elliot and then he took him to one of the waiting patrol cars that had shown up. Olivia went over to Hank, who was sitting on the bench.

"I'm sorry. I know what I did was wrong. If you wanna arrest me, then arrest me."

"I'm not gonna arrest you. Tell me what happened."

Hank told her everything that had happened.

"I don't want you to be disappointed in me. You know I'm trying to be better for you and Noah. I didn't want to fight him in front of Noah. The entire thing was his idea."

"I know you are and I don't blame you for any of this. I just need you in one piece for the wedding. I'll call Carisi and have him get a Restraining Order."

Fin had come back and Amanda had come over with Noah and one of the people, who had taken a video.

"Noah, I am so sorry."

"It's ok, Dad. I'm glad you defended me."

Noah gave Hank a hug and told Olivia everything as well. Olivia and Hank then watched the video.

"All that work you've been doing at the gym has really paid off."

"The tazing was pretty amazing too."

"What made you decide to take a video?"

"There was something about the other guy I didn't trust. He just went up to them and started harassing them for no reason."

"I'm glad you did. I need to justify myself with this, so can you send this to me?

"Of course."

Olivia gave the person her cell number, so she could send it to her. Olivia thanked her and then Olivia decided to take Hank to the hospital to get him checked out. Once they got there, she contacted her Chief and Sergeant Bell to tell them what had happened. She had also shared the video with both of them. Sergeant Bell assured Olivia that she would take appropriate action with Detective Stabler. She had also contacted Carisi to get a Restraining Order. Hank had some bruising as did Elliot. Elliot still thought he was the better man for Olivia but he had to admit that Hank handled himself better than he expected.

The next almost week went by quickly. In front of their family and closest friends, Hank and Olivia finally became husband and wife. Afterwards they took everyone out for dinner. They had planned to have something with everyone from Chicago later on. After they spent time with Noah, they went home for their wedding night, while Noah went home with Amanda. The next morning, Hank and Olivia left for a week in Hawaii, where they spend most of that time making love or taking in the sights.

By the time they had gotten back to New York, between Lucy, Amanda, Carisi and Fin, they had finished packing all of Olivia's stuff and had moved it to the new place. Another thing she had to do was change her cell number. She had a feeling that Elliot would find out where they were living, so in order to do that, she needed to change the number.

Olivia had known Hank was the one for her when they met even though it had taken them both a while to realize it. Now they were spending the rest of their lives together. She could wait to see what the future held for them.
