A/N: This is the second part to the last chapter titled "Hostage Situation at SVU". This will probably be the last chapter I write for the year. Any Holiday related chapters may be done after the Holidays. I hope to resume my other stories after the beginning of the year. I don't own any of the characters.
Hank's Recovery
The next morning, Hank woke up and was finally feeling better. He had had a rough night. He also figured that Olivia wasn't very comfortable but there she was right by his side. He squeezed her hand and then she woke up.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"How are you feeling?"
"Better than I was before."
"Good."
Olivia leaned over and kissed Hank.
"I was so scared I was going to lose you."
"Is Stabler in jail?"
"The suspect from the case killed him in the Tombs. Fin is the one that got the call. I'm glad he can't hurt us anymore. I had this bad feeling that he was going to have someone do something to you while you were here."
"How did his kids take the news?"
"The two that were here were upset but not completely surprised about what happened. Apparently your daughter went all Voight in the Interrogation Room, which did not surprise her former co-workers at all."
"What did she do?"
"She got in his face and knocked the chair he was in on the floor. She also banged his head into the table before she kicked him between the legs."
Hank couldn't help but smirk when Olivia told him what Erin did.
"That's my girl!"
"A part of me wanted to put his head through the Interrogation Room window but I behaved myself."
"I can't see you doin' that. You're always so by the book."
"I would have after what he did to you. At least IAB knew the truth because I have a feeling that Elliot would have twisted things around to put the blame on you for what happened. He had the nerve to tell me you were a hot head. He should talk. He just assumed that if you died after being shot that I was going to run right into his arms for comfort. That never would have happened. I'd have to be desperate to be in a romantic relationship with him. Of course he said that about Ed."
"At least I know there is someone I can trust to look out for you when I'm not here. I'm guessing that I'm going to be here for the long haul."
"Yeah, the doctor did say you should probably take it easy for a couple weeks. Antonio said they will take care of things at that end and Al is sticking around longer than everyone else. Meredith is coming in this morning and I guess they are going to start looking for a place. You can deal with the Realtor online or on the phone if you need to."
"Right. There's really no reason for me to go back to Chicago right now. I will have to sign whatever paperwork I need to sign. I do still have some of Justin's things that I never got rid of, like his Legos and his Matchbox cars. I wanted Olive to see if there was anything she might want for Daniel."
"There's no reason why you can't bring all that with you and then keep it here, so he has stuff when he comes to visit."
"That's true. I love you, Olivia Margaret Benson Voight."
"I love you too, Henry Richard Voight!"
They started kissing and then Erin came in.
"Get a room, you two!"
"Ha, ha, ha! You're funny!"
"I'm not trying to be."
"How's our boy?"
"He's fine. He already wants to come see you after school."
"I figured he would."
"When are you being sprung?"
"I'm guessing not until Monday."
"Was your boss ok with you taking time off?"
"He was. I told him everything that happened yesterday."
"I heard about that. I'm proud of you."
"I wouldn't do that for just anyone, you know."
"Yeah, I know. I appreciate it."
"I just don't like anyone messing with my family. If it had been Liv, Noah, Olive or Daniel, I would have done the same thing."
"Did you think Stabler would have gotten so pissed when you told him we were married?"
"I knew he wouldn't be happy about it."
"Then he nearly blew the case for us."
"Yeah, he did. He said posing as a married couple was one of his favorite things when we worked together and he had hoped to make it reality sometime soon. He was pretty much the only one that didn't know. Sergeant Bell knew about it and also knew not to tell him. When he blurted out that he supposedly loved me in front of his kids, I later told all of them at one time that I was in a serious relationship and very happy. It really pisses me off that he claims I owe him for bailing me out of jail. Like I told Ed yesterday, Noah and Daniel behave better than Elliot has lately. I'm just glad he was not in my unit because I wouldn't put up with any of his crap. The NYPD must have been desperate to bring him back in the first place. I would have quit the NYPD if he had ever become my Commanding Officer. I'm not his babysitter but it always seemed that way. Even now. I would much rather deal with CPD Intelligence. Maybe I'm biased about Intelligence because I'm with you. I realize we didn't start out on the right foot but you have always respected me even when I didn't deserve it."
"It wasn't that you didn't deserve it. A lot of that was me not being able to make up my damn mind about how I really felt. A part of me thought I wasn't good enough for you and another part of me couldn't completely let go of Camille."
"That's the difference between you and Elliot. You mourned your wife before you got into another relationship. Kathy was barely in her grave and Elliot was already admitting his feelings for me. All he was doing was acting like he was the grieving widower for sympathy and hopefully comfort from me. My life was so much less complicated when he wasn't in it and a part of me thinks that he would just put my life and Noah's life into danger."
"Just so he could rescue you and tell you that you owe him for that."
"Exactly."
"I'm glad Jay and I don't have a relationship like that."
"How often do you two talk?"
"At least once a month. He was the one that called me to tell me what happened yesterday. Maybe 6 months after I left Chicago, I called him and we talked about an hour. I told him I wanted him to move on from me but I still wanted him in my life even if it was just as friends. He agreed. We talked after his dad died. I also talked to Kelly after he lost his dad. Jay contacted me when he and Hailey started to get closer and I told him I was fine with that. Whenever I'm in Chicago, I make a point of getting together with everyone at Molly's."
"Up until that first time the two of you had talked, he blamed me for everything that happened between the two of you. He and I haven't always seen eye to eye. Antonio will be fine running the unit."
"I think I am going to head home to grab a shower and some breakfast."
"Ok. Try to get some sleep while you're home too."
"Yes, Dear."
Olivia kissed Hank and then she left to head home.
"You ok with not going back to Chicago?"
"Honestly, yeah, I am. We knew the distance was going to be hard once we got married. I should have retired sooner but I'm glad there are people here that look out for her and Noah when I'm not here."
"She's got me"
"Yeah, I know. I know Fin and Rollins look out for her and so does Ed."
"She was afraid that Stabler was going to have someone kill you in the hospital, so he could have her all to himself. She did say that if something happened to you, it would take her a while to get over it."
"It took me a while after Camille."
"Exactly. She doesn't get how Stabler's wife is barely in her grave and he's already admitting his feelings for her. He treated her like she was his property but he's the one that had no contact with her for a decade."
"Olivia and Ed have the same type of relationship that you and Halstead have."
"You're fine with that, right?"
"Yeah, I do."
Then the group from Chicago came in. The only ones that weren't there were Kim, who needed to be back home for Makayla and Al, since he had to go pick up Meredith.
"You doin' ok, Boss?"
"It still hurts but yeah, I'm doin' ok. Dawson, you ready to take over?"
"Yeah. We'll be fine."
"Where's Al?"
"He has to go pick up Meredith from the airport. We're sticking around a couple more days but he decided to stick around a little longer, so Meredith is joining him out here. Platt sends her love."
"I can't believe you're not gonna be our Boss anymore."
"I guess I need to recover, so this is the best place to do that, since my wife, son and daughter are all here. I probably should have moved here sooner than I did."
"We will take care of whatever needs to be taken care of in Chicago."
"If I have to, I'll go out there and help get your stuff ready to be sent out here."
"We haven't seen your place here yet."
"I'm sure something can be arranged."
"Are Olivia and Noah moved in?"
"Not quite. That was supposed to happen this weekend."
"If she needs help moving, we can do that."
Then Ed, Fin, Amanda and Carisi came in.
"Hey. How you doin'?"
"Still sore but better."
"Good. Where's Liv?"
"She went home to take a shower and have some breakfast. I told her to try to get some more sleep while she was at home."
"She still planning to move this weekend?"
"She hasn't said anything that she isn't. How ready is she for this?"
"I think there is just a few more things for her to pack."
"That is basically what I have at my house too. I need to clean out the refrigerator and pack some stuff in the kitchen yet. There is also some stuff in my bedroom and bathroom yet too. Other than that, I'm mostly packed. I was hoping Olive would get there to see if Daniel wanted Justin's Matchbox cars and Legos but if I move those here, he'll have something to play with when he comes to visit us."
"Justin had a ton of both and Star Wars action figures if I remember right."
"He did. I don't know what happened to his Star Wars stuff though."
"Will and I did too. I don't even know what happened to our old toys."
"I used to have Barbies but I bet Bunny ended up selling them, so she could have money for drugs and alcohol."
"No doubt. Justin had a CPD squad car that I had custom made for him. It had the number of the car I always drove when I was on Patrol."
"Is that the same one you have in your office?"
"Yeah. I got one for him and one for me."
"I take it you want yours, right?"
"Yeah. I want all the personal stuff from my office."
"Ok."
A little while later, Olivia came back.
"There is a bright side to all this."
"What?"
"Elliot will never know where we're moving to. He showed up at my apartment once and he was drugged. That made me uncomfortable because of Noah just being nearby. His behavior lately is not normal for him."
"I was always suspicious of him and this time was no different."
"Why do you think I contacted you?"
"I know why you did."
"Even Trevor told me to watch myself. Trevor was never a fan of his either."
"I always thought Stabler was a rat bastard and I called him that to his face once too. He kept trying to get out of me about Liv's personal life and I told him he had to ask you that. I would have loved to have been the one to tell him about you and Tucker."
"He told me I must have been desperate if I dated Ed. Ed and I didn't start getting along until around the time I was adopting Noah but he was there when Noah was kidnapped, just as Hank was. All of you had heard about the William Lewis thing."
"Erin followed that one from the beginning. Even before she met you, she looked up to you. She had always said that you were the type of cop she wanted to be."
"I did. Once I met you, I thought you would have been a perfect match for this guy and I was right. Although it took you both long enough to figure it out. Most of Intelligence saw it right away."
"Us too. I know I did."
"I did too. I saw how upset she was when Yates was sayin' all that stuff about what Voight was supposedly doin' to Nadia."
"I thought there was something going on with them when she was asking Will questions about knowing both victims and Voight was defending her."
"I admit that we did sleep together after both cases we worked on but at that point, neither of us wanted anything serious. We almost slept together again after the case when we were looking for Yates and Erin killed him but everything with Ed was still pretty new and I didn't want to hurt him. I didn't want to hurt Hank either. Hank knew when I had been held hostage by Joe Utley and he had already known that I was with Ed before I came to Chicago that time. Like every relationship, I had my doubts about me and Ed."
"I'd be lyin' if I said I didn't. I'd have to be a complete idiot not to know that you also had feelings for Hank during the time we were together. You talked about him a lot and we did go to Chicago to attend his son's funeral."
"I do appreciate you coming with me."
"We appreciated all of you being there. That was the first time Ed and I met and all I told him was that I had hoped he was good to her because I cared about her more than I realized. Did I ever think we'd end up where we are now? No. I've done a lot I'm not too proud of and I never thought I was good enough for Olivia."
"We've all done a lot that we aren't proud of. I know yours was what happened with Bingham. I wanted to kill Pulpo for what he did to Diego and you told me not to go that route."
"With me, it was what happened with Lonnie and also wanting to go after the bastard responsible for the fire that killed my dad. Both times I didn't listen to you."
"I also regret what happened with Matt. I know Al wanted to go after the guy responsible for the fire that killed Lexi and he took the blame for what happened with Bingham to protect me. I'm just glad I got him out of there before something happened to him. Trudy wanted to go after the guy that killed her dad."
"I wanted to take the blame for what happened to Bingham because you have always been there for me when I needed you the most, so it was my turn to be there for you. Like I told you that night, I'd be dead right now if it hadn't been for you."
"I should have just listen to you that night in the first place."
"That SOB deserved to die for what he did to Justin no matter who did it."
"Dawson's right."
"I don't have any regrets. I want to be the father to Noah that I should have been to Justin."
"I'm retiring myself."
"You?"
"Yes, me."
"I could see you, Hank and Al driving Patty, Meredith and me nuts."
Hank gave Olivia a dirty look and then she smirked at him.
"I love you. You know that."
"I know."
"I have a list of stuff Patty wants me to do when I retire."
"So does Hank."
"I have an excuse."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah."
"I wouldn't be in this hospital bed if it wasn't for your psycho ex-partner. I had to protect you from him."
"I know and I appreciate it more than you will ever know. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if you hadn't been wearing your vest."
Olivia had tears running down her cheeks.
"I love you so much."
"I love you too."
Olivia kissed Hank.
"I am just so glad that Elliot had never become the Boss of SVU."
"That never would have happened. His issues were worse than Amaro's. As far as I'm concerned, the NYPD never would have promoted him either."
"I don't think Cragen would have ever left him in charge."
"Cragen knew what he was doin' when he asked you to take the Sergeant's exam once Munch retired. Stabler never would have been put in that position. You've come a long way and should be proud of everything you have accomplished."
"Coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment."
"I'd still feel that way even if we had never gotten close. Stabler was clearly holding you back."
"Tucker is right about that, Liv."
"I think Elliot was holding me back too. I think he still saw me as his partner and not as a Superior."
"It wouldn't surprise me if that was true."
"He still liked to call me his partner and I said that was a decade ago. He told me not that long ago that he was glad he was back with the NYPD because I had no idea how much he missed me. He said he still wished we worked together but a part of him was glad we didn't because that opened so many more possibilities for our relationship. He just assumed I was just going to forgive him for the last 10 years and eventually jump into bed with him. He's not a role model I would want for my son. He also assumed that I was still single after all this time. I got over his departure a long time ago and I moved on with my life."
"That's true."
"Babe, my stuff is in your office."
"It's at home."
"I brought it and gave it to Lindsay."
"And I took it over there when I went to get Noah."
"Ok, good. Are you still planning to move this weekend?"
"That's still the plan."
"We're staying a couple more days, so we can help with whatever you need help with. We haven't seen the new place yet anyway."
"I appreciate your offer to help. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"Erin, if you want, you can take everyone over there and show them around."
"I can do that."
"We should go anyway."
"Yep."
"I have court this morning anyway."
"The arraignment?"
"Yep. I'm hoping this one will be quick."
Everyone including Erin and the group from Chicago left and headed wherever they were going. A little while later, Dickie and Kathleen came in.
"Hi Olivia."
"Hey."
"Hank, we are so sorry for what our dad did to you."
"It's not your fault."
"How did the rest of your family take it?"
"Better than we expected and that included Grandma. Sometimes we're not sure what she remembers anymore."
"We will be there as much as we can for all of you. I know your dad has been having issues with Eli lately."
"He blamed Dad for a lot. I think a part of Dad's problem is that he wanted you to be a mother figure for Eli with Mom gone and we kept telling him that Eli wasn't your problem."
"Like I said, I will be there for all of you and so will Hank and that's because I care about all of you so much. If you would like to spend the Holidays with us, we will be more than happy to have all of you over and that includes your grandma."
"We'll talk to everyone and see what they say."
"Fair enough."
"How are you feeling?"
"My arm is still sore but I'm better."
"Good."
Then Al and Meredith came in and Olive and Daniel were with them.
"Look who else I picked up at the airport."
"Papa!"
"Hey, you!"
"Hey, Hank. How are you feeling?"
"Sore but better."
Olive hugged Hank and then she made sure Daniel gently hugged him. Then Meredith hugged him. Then they all hugged Olivia.
"Erin said you were coming out here as soon as you could."
"He actually had off from school today, so I made the arrangements after I talked to Erin yesterday and we came out. I texted her and she had said Alvin was picking Meredith up anyway, so he'd be there."
"Noah will be happy to see you both. Hank has been here since yesterday and hasn't seen Noah yet. I guess he already asked Erin if he could come see his dad after school. Olive, Daniel, Al and Meredith, this is Kathleen and Dickie Stabler, two of my late, former partner's kids. Dickie and Kathleen, this is Hank's daughter-in-law Olive and her son Daniel. This is Alvin and Meredith Olinsky and his wife Meredith. Al is Hank's best friend."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too."
"Has the rest of the squad been here yet?"
"Yeah, they were here. Erin took them to see our new place."
"Ok."
"Trudy drove me to the airport and she said one of these weekends when Mouch is off, they will have to come out here to see you but may wait until you're settled in."
"Ok, good."
"Can we get the name and number of your Realtor here? I found a few places I'd like to look at."
"Sure."
Olivia gave Meredith the name and number of the Realtor they used. Meredith then made a call to the Realtor. They agreed to meet in the early afternoon. Once Meredith was done, she hung up the phone."
"We are meeting with her by 1 o'clock."
"That works for me."
"One of the places is near where Hank and Olivia are moving."
"That would be so amazing."
"Yeah, it would."
The doctor came in and everyone but Olivia stepped out of the room, so he could examine him.
"Everything is looking good. Are you ready to try some food?"
"Yeah. When do you think I'll be released?"
"I'm guessing by Monday."
"Ok, good."
The doctor left and then IAB came in to talk to Hank. Once they talk to him and left, everyone else came back in.
"He said I could be released by Monday."
"That's good."
"I'm off next week anyway, so I can spend some time unpacking stuff."
"Daniel and I are here through Sunday, so I'll do whatever I can to help as well."
"Alvin and I will too."
"How long are you two staying?"
"Probably Wednesday. I think everyone else is leaving Sunday."
"Olive, are you and Daniel planning to come for Christmas?"
"Definitely."
Olivia had her fingers laced with Hank's but once his food was brought in, he ate.
"How is it?"
"Not too bad. I'm just hungry because I haven't eaten anything since breakfast yesterday. I wasn't expecting to end up here."
"I know you weren't. A part of me blames myself for what happened to you because Elliot was so obsessed with me. He got what he deserved though. Sorry, you two."
"Don't be sorry. You're right. He did get what he deserved. We even tried telling him that he needed to give you some space. He said 10 years was way too long."
"If you weren't with me, would you have been with him?"
"Honestly, no. If I wasn't with you, I might actually consider Langan. My relationship with him has changed drastically over the years and he was the lawyer when I adopted Noah.
"Langan is a good guy."
"Also, contrary to what anyone else thinks, including Elliot himself, I never felt that way about Elliot. I expected that reaction from him when he found out about me and Ed. I also think he may have been judgmental about Noah being into dancing."
"You want Noah to do activities he loves. He decided he didn't like baseball anymore and he wanted to try dancing. He stuck with it. It's all about him being happy."
"You were more receptive to that than I expected you to be. He just wants us both to be proud of him."
"I'm proud of him."
"I'm sure Dad would have had something to say about Noah being into dancing. Like Hank said, it's Noah's choice. A part of us thinks he had something to do with Mom's death to get her out of the way."
"Do your sisters and brother feel that way too?"
"We all do. Like I said before, Eli blames him for a lot."
"Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me. Hank mourned his first wife before we got involved. Your mom is barely in her grave and your dad is already admitting his feelings for me."
"We're glad you told us that you were with someone but that probably wouldn't have stopped him from doing what he did."
"He was just way too obsessed with me. He's not the same person he was 10 years ago. That Elliot would have respected me though. This Elliot didn't respect me at all."
"It's always been about him."
"Oh yeah, I know that."
"I think we're going to go."
"Keep in touch."
"We will. We hope you feel better soon, Hank."
"Thanks."
Kathleen and Dickie hugged Olivia and then they left and everyone talked for a while. Al and Meredith decided to get something to eat and took Olive and Daniel with them. They convinced Olivia to go with them as well, since Hank said he'd be fine by himself. Not too long after they left, Hank fell asleep for a little while. Erin had gone out to lunch with the group from Chicago. She arrived back at the hospital before Olivia did.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"They loved your place."
"Good."
"Where is everyone?"
"Lunch. They convinced Olivia to go with them. The doc said I could probably go home by Monday."
"That's good."
"Where are Olive and Daniel staying?"
"I think she got a hotel room, so Daniel could swim. I offered to let them stay with me."
"She said they were planning to come in for Christmas. I wonder if she's getting a hotel room then too."
"Hard to say."
A little while later, Olivia, Olive and Daniel came back. Olivia kissed Hank.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too."
"Olive, are you planning to get a hotel room when you're here for Christmas?"
"Daniel wants to swim. He loves that our complex has an indoor pool. It doesn't get as cold there as it does here or in Chicago but we do get some cooler weather especially now. He has to swim every day."
"At least you're keeping him active."
"With swimming and soccer, he keeps me busy. He told me he wants to go to a baseball game this coming season, so for his birthday, I'm trying to get tickets for the Diamondbacks vs. Cubs, which is actually before his birthday. Would you want to go with him? It's the weekend after Mother's Day. They're in Chicago the following weekend."
"Try for the Saturday game and we'll come out."
"All of us?"
"I'd go and I'm sure Noah would too."
"Me too."
"Ok. One thing he did say he wants to do next summer is spend some time here."
"We will be more than happy to have him here."
"I can keep both boys occupied."
"Noah is going to dance camp this summer don't forget."
"That's right. He is. How long is it?"
"I think it's 6 weeks but it's only during the day."
"Hank, is there something you wanted me to go through at your house?"
"I still have Justin's Matchbox cars and Legos and I wanted to see if Daniel would be interested in them. Olivia said Daniel could play with them when he's here."
"Keep them. He's gotten into Matchbox cars lately and he's been into Legos for a while."
"That would be something we could do with Daniel. There is a Legoland Resort in New York."
"I've taken him to Legoland in our area and he loved it."
"We will have to look into that."
"That sounds like a plan to me."
"So, if he comes to stay with us, you'll take time off?"
"Of course. Where did you leave everyone from Chicago?"
"We grabbed a bite to eat and then they all went back to the hotel. They all loved your new place."
"I'm looking forward to starting our life out in our new home."
"I am too. I have no regrets and I'm glad I can recuperate here with you."
"I'm glad you are too. Noah is glad he finally has a dad and I'm glad I finally have a husband."
"I wasn't sure I wanted to get married again after I lost Camille but I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have left Chicago for just anyone either."
"He's right about that. Too bad we can't get the entire family out here."
"I don't know if I could deal with winter again. I love having the nice weather all the time. I would love to have all of you closer."
"If I ever lived in Arizona, it would be during the winter months. I don't think I could deal with the summers as hot as they are."
"That is about the only thing I don't like about living there. I wouldn't mind living in LA but they get a lot of wildfires out there and Florida has hurricanes."
"We get hurricanes here too."
Everyone kept talking and then a little while later, Erin went to pick Noah up from school. She brought him to the hospital.
"Hey, Dad."
"Hey."
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling better today. Thanks."
"You're welcome. Hi Olive and Daniel."
"Hey, Noah."
Noah gave both Olive and Daniel a hug.
"Where are Uncle Al and Aunt Meredith?"
"They went to meet with the Realtor, so they can find a place to live."
"Oh, cool!"
"Olive wants to get tickets for the Diamondbacks and Cubs out there the weekend after Mother's Day as a birthday present for Daniel. Do you want to go?"
"Oh, yeah!"
"I'll see if I can get 6 tickets then."
"How was school?"
"Good. I can't wait to be off for Christmas."
"Pretty soon."
"Yep. Are you and Daniel coming for Christmas?"
"We'll be here. We are both off until the 3rd. As soon as he gets out of school on the 17th, we are heading to the airport. I'm working a half day that day, so I'll go home to get our stuff before I go pick him up. My sister is going to take us, so I don't have my car at the airport that entire time."
"Speaking of cars, mine is at the airport. I was planning to stay here longer than the rest of them. Maybe Al can take it home for me. They don't have a way home anyway. Meredith said Trudy took her to the airport and he rode with me."
"Did you rent a car here?"
"Al did and Dawson and Halstead both did too. I figured I didn't need one, since I usually drive yours when I'm here."
"You do."
Then Al and Meredith came in again.
"How'd it go?"
"It went great. We made an offer on a place not too far from you."
"That will be great to have you that close."
"We looked at a few places but liked this one the best."
"Hopefully it'll all work out."
"So do we."
"Al, if I give you the keys to my SUV, can you get it home?"
"That works. I had to go to your house anyway to get my car."
"That's right. You did."
"Mom, are we still moving this weekend?"
"Yep. The group from Chicago is here until Sunday, so they said they will help. Uncle Al and Aunt Meredith are here until Wednesday. Olive and Daniel are here until Sunday too. Lucy said she would help out and so did Aunt Amanda and Uncles Fin, Sonny and Ed. We will have lots of help."
"That's good. I can't wait to be able to sleep in my new room."
"Dad will probably be here until Monday."
"Are Jesse and Billie going to be there too?"
"I'm guessing they'll probably be with their grandma."
"I don't see them much anymore."
"I know. We'll have to arrange to have Aunt Amanda bring them over once we get settled in. Ok?"
"Ok."
Then Fin and Amanda came in.
"Hey."
"Hey. How are things going?"
"We've had a quiet day for once."
"That's good. Amanda, someone wants to see Jesse and Billie."
"I can probably bring Jesse tomorrow but Billie is staying with my mom."
"Yay!"
"How'd arraignment go?"
"Fine. He actually pled guilty to all charges. I think a part of Carisi wishes he could have prosecuted Stabler for what he did."
"Buchanan probably would have tried to use an insanity plea."
"Do you think Stabler would have gone for it?"
"No but it does run in his family. He knew exactly what he was doing."
"The thing is, he never used to be this bad other than everything was always about him."
"That's because he was married. Even when they were separated and Kathy had filed for a divorce, he never indicated that he had these obsessive feelings for me. Kathy is killed in an explosion and now all of a sudden he can't live without me? Something wasn't right with that entire situation."
"There was definitely somethin' off with him."
"Yeah, there was. If what happened to him didn't happen to him, there is no way I could have forgiven him for what he did to Hank. I also figured he'd react the way he did when he found out I was with Ed at one point. Neither of them is the man they once were but this time, Ed is the one that I trust more. I just don't get it."
"Me neither."
"I wasn't that impressed with the guy and what he did in the Interrogation Room pissed Chief Garland off."
"It pissed me off too. He also pissed me off yesterday when he jumped in to pretend to be married to me after I suggested that Hank and I do it. He said he loved when we used to do that and he wanted it to become reality soon."
"You and Voight wouldn't have had to pretend anything."
"No, we wouldn't have. Maybe after what Elliot pulled in the Interrogation Room, I should have threatened to arrest him like I did that first time Hank and I worked together. Hank and I learned to respect each other after that case. A part of me thinks Elliot still saw me as his partner and not as one of his superiors."
"That's a good point."
Then Trevor came in.
"Hey, Langan."
"Hey. Hank, are you ok?"
"Yeah. My arm is still a bit sore."
"So, Stabler did this?"
"Yep. He had become obsessed with me since Kathy's death. He got pissed when I told him I was married. He was holding us hostage in my office after he shot Hank. He didn't care if Hank lived or died. He told me I owed him for bailing me out of jail when I was charged with Clyde VanDyne's murder, which I never asked him to do."
"I told you to be careful."
"Yes, you did."
"I never trusted him anyway."
"Thankfully he won't be bothering us anymore."
"That is always a good thing. Are you still moving this weekend?"
"We are."
"If you need any help, let me know."
"I will. Hank's squad is still here, since they were here for that case and they will be here until Sunday. Olive and Daniel are here until Sunday and Al and Meredith are here until Wednesday."
"Is Hank going back to Chicago?"
"No. He's going to recuperate here and his squad will take care of having his stuff sent out here. He only had a couple weeks left to work anyway. He doesn't have a problem with not working his remaining two weeks."
"That makes sense."
"It's hard being in two different cities and if this had happened in Chicago, I probably would have stayed with him until he was able to travel. He was also shot in the chest but I am just so grateful that he was wearing his vest. Elliot said he should have shot him in the head."
"If he had killed your husband, would you have run off with him?"
"Hell no! I waited this long to find the man I truly love. There is no way in hell I would get into another relationship without properly mourning my husband but I probably wouldn't get involved with anyone at all at this point."
"I completely understand your feelings toward not wanting to be in another relationship or waiting a while before getting into another one. It's been 5½ years since Justin died. I totally get how Hank felt after he lost Camille. I've had guys ask me out but some of them seem lose interest when I tell them I have a kid. The dad of one of the little girls in Daniel's class and I have gone out a few times recently but he understands what I went through. The kids get along really well, so that helps too."
"So, does this seem like it'll go somewhere?"
"It's too soon to tell yet. I finally decided it was time. I'd eventually like to have more kids, so I guess I do need to start somewhere."
"I just want you to know that I support your decision. I want both you and Daniel to be happy."
"Thanks, Hank. That means a lot. Olivia, you wouldn't get into another relationship at all if something happened to Hank?"
"I don't know. Maybe several years down the line I would but it never would have been Elliot. I might consider Trevor."
"I can go along with that. I wouldn't want you to end up with someone, who is controlling or would treat you like crap."
"Which is why Elliot wouldn't have been an option."
"I care about you and Noah and I will always be here for both of you as a friend or just as a lawyer."
"Thank you, Trevor. I appreciate that."
"You're welcome."
"Mom, I didn't like really that Elliot guy. I know he was a friend of yours."
"Your opinion means a lot to me, Sweetie. He's the one that hurt Daddy and then someone killed him in holding, so he won't be in our lives anymore."
"Smart kid, Liv."
"Yes, he is."
"I don't think Carisi was too impressed by him either."
"Carisi is a good judge of character. He always has been."
"Carisi and I may not have known him like you and Fin but it seemed like he thought he could do whatever he wanted."
"That pretty much sums it up."
"Liv is right about that."
"I did see a lot of similarities between him and Nick and it did take me a while to get used to both you and Nick joining the squad after Elliot left. I always got mixed up with Elliot's family drama whether I wanted to or not. I know Nick and Maria had their issues too and then we had that case involving his dad but it wasn't half as bad as the Stabler drama, which I had to put up with for 12 years."
"I agree."
"Kathy was always jealous because Elliot and I spent so much time together and she referred to me as his work wife. It never would have gone any further than that. You were the one that rescued me at Sealview, so do I owe you for that?"
"Oh, hell no! I'm not like that. I told him once that I watched your back and not your backside like he did. I still do now. I've become very protective of both you and Rollins over the years."
"I appreciate that."
"I do too."
"Babe, why don't you spend some time with Noah tonight? I'm fine by myself."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. You've been here pretty much all day. Take Erin, Olive and the boys out to dinner."
"Ok. Olive, did you check into the hotel yet?"
"No, we have not. We probably should do that."
"Meredith and I will take her to the hotel and then someone else can come get her."
"That works. I will leave Daniel here."
"I'll move his seat into my car."
Olive hugged Hank and then she left with Al and Meredith. Erin went with to move Daniel's seat. Once Al left, Erin came back up.
"I told Olive to call me when she was ready."
"That works."
Fin and Amanda got a call, so they left and then not too long after they left, Trevor left. Olivia and Erin decided on a place for dinner. Once Olive called, Erin left with the boys to get her and then Olivia had a little more time alone with Hank. Once Erin texted her to tell her they were leaving the hotel, Olivia kissed Hank and then met the others at the restaurant. After dinner, Olivia and Noah went home, while Erin took Olive and Daniel back to the hotel, so Daniel could go swimming before he went to bed. Olivia and Noah called Hank and talked to him before Noah went to bed.
The next day, everyone who was helping with the move arrived at Olivia's apartment. They packed up what they could into the vehicles. The movers were only taking the furniture. Olivia went to the new place with Lucy and the kids, while Erin, Olive, Meredith, Hailey, Amanda and Phoebe stayed at the apartment and cleaned once everything had been taken out. Once the movers arrived with the furniture, Olivia showed them where to put everything and let Noah show them where he wanted things put in his new room. After she paid the movers, she left Lucy and the kids and headed over to the apartment. They were just about done by the time Olivia got there and the landlord was meeting her there. Once she turned over her keys to the landlord, they headed over to the new place. Noah was already working on his room and Kevin was setting up the TVs and internet for them. Everyone else picked a room and started putting stuff away.
"I don't expect everything to be unpacked today."
"We're all here, so we might as well get this done. It'll be less you have to worry about. If Hank is coming home on Monday, then he should come home to everything basically done."
"Thank you all so much for this."
"You're welcome. We've come to see you, Noah and your squad as family and families help each other out."
"At least let me buy everyone pizza for dinner."
"Deal."
They continued working and then once they decided what they wanted on their pizzas, Olivia ordered them. She and Olive went to pick them up and then they came back. Amanda had invited her mom, Billie and Mason over. Beth Anne arrived at the same time Olivia and Olive did.
"Hello, Olivia."
"Hey, Beth Anne. Thank you for coming."
"You're welcome. Thank you for inviting us."
"Amanda knew the kids were going to have to eat anyway. Noah mentioned to me yesterday that he doesn't get to see Jesse and Billie that much anymore. This is Olive, Hank's daughter-in-law. Olive, this is Beth Anne Rollins, Amanda's mother and Amanda's nephew Mason."
"It's nice to meet you, Olive."
"You too."
Everyone went in and Billie went right to Sonny.
"What about me?"
Billie went to give Fin a hug. Olivia introduced Beth Anne to everyone from Chicago
"Olivia, this is nice."
"Thank you."
"How's your husband?"
"He's doing better. I haven't seen him today at all but I talked to him. I may go see him later."
They put the kids at the table and put one of the cheese pizzas in front of all of them. Everyone else found a place to sit and ate their pizza as they enjoyed each other's company.
"Ruzek, how do you like being a dad?"
"I like it. Makayla is a good kid. Kim wishes she could have stayed but she needed to get home."
"If anyone understands what she's going through, I do. Being a single parent and being a cop, is not easy. Any plans for the two of you to make it official?"
"We're still tryin' to figure stuff out. I know I love her and all that but sometimes I'm not sure how she feels."
"I get that. Hank wasn't always open about his feelings but then again, I wasn't either. I'm glad we both finally figured it out."
"We're all glad to see Voight so happy. I'll miss both him and Al."
"I'll miss you too, kid. Just don't give Dawson a hard time."
"I'll try."
"You're all welcome to come visit us anytime."
"Us too."
Meredith's phone rang, so she answered it. It was the Realtor telling her that the Seller had accepted their offer. When she was done talking, she hung up.
"That was the Realtor. The Seller accepted our offer."
"That's great! When is closing?"
"The end of next month. We have a lot to do to get our house ready."
"We'll do what we can to help you too."
"Great."
Olivia finished eating and then she went to see Hank. Everyone else stayed at their place for a little while longer. Lucy stayed with Noah until Olivia got home. Olivia got home before Noah went to bed. It had been a long day for everyone.
The next morning, the group from Chicago got up and went out for breakfast before they went to see Hank at the hospital before they headed to the airport. Erin brought Olive and Daniel to see Hank before she took them to the airport. Olivia, Noah, Al and Meredith had met for breakfast and then they all went to see Hank.
By Monday, Hank was released from the hospital, so Olivia went to pick him up. During the next couple days, Al and Meredith had spent time with Hank before the left for Chicago. Hank had already been in touch with the Realtor in Chicago to put his house on the market. Olivia was still off from work, so she and Hank had some time together while Noah was at school.
By the end of the following week, Al was officially retired from the CPD. He and Meredith had already started going through their house when they returned from New York. Erin had taken the end of the week off to head to Chicago to see what needed to be done at Hank's but the squad had everything ready to go for when the movers came. While she was there, she spent time catching up with Kim and getting to know Makayla. It was also the last day of school for the kids before the Holidays.
