A/N: This was a request from HMG2000. This chapter relates to the SVU Season 11 episode "Ace" from 2010. For this one, the Intelligence Unit already exists but the only detectives are Hank, Al and Antonio. Erin is with the unit but she's not a detective yet. She is also Hank's daughter. Camille passed away 5 years earlier than she actually did. The incident with Matt Casey never happened, so Hank never went to prison. There will be a second part to this.

Falling Hard for Each Other – Part 1

The Intelligence Unit had had a case involving young Bulgarian mothers being raped and murdered, while their babies were sold. The case was tied to a case that Manhattan SVU had been working on. Hank and his team had flown to New York to assist SVU with the case. He, Al, Antonio and Erin arrived in NYC and went to SVU. When they arrived, they went in.

"Captain Cragen?"

"Yes. You must be Sergeant Voight."

"That's me. This Detective Alvin Olinsky, Detective Antonio Dawson and Officer Erin Lindsay."

"This is Sergeant John Munch, Detective Elliot Stabler, Detective Olivia Benson and Detective Odafin Tutuola or Fin."

Both squads shook hands and Olivia gave Hank a shy smile. Then they got to work. Each member of Intelligence was paired up with someone from SVU. Hank and Olivia were working together. When they needed two people to pose as the Butlers, who were looking to "buy" a baby, Olivia suggested that she and Hank do it.

"Liv, what the hell are you doin'? We always do this together."

"Hank and I work well together. What difference does it make as long as this son of a bitch gets caught?"

Hank and Olivia got ready to go undercover, while everyone else got ready to do whatever they were doing as well. Elliot was more worried about Olivia. Before they headed to the Butler's home, Elliot cornered Hank.

"She gets hurt, I will come after you."

"I get she's your partner but she's obviously not your wife. She's a smart woman and a big girl, so I'm sure she can take care of herself. Let me worry about her right now."

"Don't screw this up."

Hank glared at Elliot and Elliot glared right back at him. He and Olivia did what they had to do. There were pictures of the two of them scattered throughout the place. They were both really getting into the roles they were playing. Hank had his arm around her waist a lot or she had her arm through his. They were told about how much money this would cost. They would then be told where they were meeting. The baby had been born and they were told it was a boy. He asked the baby's name for the certificate, so they told him. He said he would be in touch.

When they got the call about where they were getting their baby, they headed there. Hank handed him the money and then Olivia got the baby. The baby is then reunited with his mother. Sophia and the baby are later killed in an explosion. Petrov and Dr. Elroy are then arrested and both will be represented by Buchanan. Everyone can go home for the night.

"Sergeant, would you like to grab dinner with me?"

"Sure. Why not?"

"Great. I know the perfect place. I'll drive."

"Ok."

Hank gave Erin they keys to their rental and then he left with Olivia, while the rest of his squad went to find something to eat and SVU went wherever they were going. Elliot ended up following Olivia and sat outside the restaurant. Hank and Olivia got their table, sat down and looked at the menu. Then they had their order taken.

"Is there something goin' on with you and your partner?"

"No, not at all. He tends to be overprotective and he likes to think he knows what's best for me especially when it comes to my relationships. I am completely capable of making my own decisions."

"He basically threatened me if anything happened to you. I told him I thought you could take care of yourself."

"I can. I've actually gotten him out of a lot of bad situations. He and I have a complicated relationship sometimes. You're actually not the first person who has asked if there was something more going on between us. I respect that he has a wife and kids."

"He seems pretty arrogant."

"That is a pretty good assumption. Tell me about you."

"I've been widowed for 5 years and I have a 16-year old son, Justin, who's a pain in the ass. I also have a 25-year old daughter. She's 8½ years older than Justin. That's Erin."

"Officer Lindsay is your daughter?"

"Yeah. I had a drunken one night stand with her mother before I even met Camille, my late wife. She kept it from me and I didn't find out she was mine until a couple years ago. Erin came to live with us 10 years ago because her mother was more interested in drugs than she was in her kids. Erin obviously followed in my footsteps and she said she wanted to work in Intelligence. I told her when she's ready, she needs to take the Detective's exam though."

"How long have you lived in Chicago?"

"My entire life. Olinsky and I have known each other since we were kids, so he's more like a brother to me and I'm Uncle Hank to his daughter Lexi. Lexi and Justin are pretty close. What about you?"

"I've lived here all my life. My mom died not quite 10 years ago and I never knew my father."

Olivia ended up telling Hank about what happened with her mother.

"So, is that why you do what you do?"

"It is. I know we just met but was I the only one that felt something between us when we were posing as the Butlers?"

"You weren't the only one. My wife and I got married 6 months after we got together. Justin and I don't have the best relationship since his mother died."

"How'd she die?"

"She had ovarian cancer."

"I am so sorry."

"Thanks."

"Have you thought about dating again?"

"Honestly, not really. At least not until I met you. I realize that you live here and I'm in Chicago, so it may not be easy."

"My romantic relationships are never easy. It's been a while since I've really taken any time off, so maybe I'll have to and come to Chicago."

"That'll be good. You'll be able to meet my son."

They continued talking and then their food arrived. Elliot finally left and headed home. They left the restaurant and then Olivia took Hank to his hotel. He invited her in and then once he got checked in, they went up to his room and talked some more. It was after midnight by the time Olivia left Hank's hotel and headed home. Hank hadn't had this much of a connection to a woman since Camille. When Olivia arrived at her apartment, she got ready for bed and thought about what a good time she had had. She hadn't enjoyed being in a man's company this much in a long time and that included Elliot. A part of her wanted to get to know him even better. She went to get ready for bed and by the time she had come back, she finally checked her phone. Elliot had texted her multiple times throughout the night but she knew he was just trying to meddle in her personal life as usual. She ignored his texts and went to bed.

The next morning, she got up and got ready for work. She had gone into the kitchen and someone had started to pound on her door. She went to see who it was. It was Elliot.

"What?"

"I was worried about you since you never returned any of my texts. Why did you go out for dinner with that Voight guy?"

"Because I wanted to. You need to learn to back off when I spend time with other men. The last I checked, you had a wife."

"Someone needs to look out for you. Did you sleep with him?"

"Whether I did or not is none of your concern."

"Do you want to sleep with me?"

"Why would you ask me that?"

"It's a logical question."

"Again, you have a wife. I would never cross that line with you now or ever. Even if you left Kathy or she died, I wouldn't."

"You can't mean that."

"Yeah, I can. You have no claim to me whatsoever. We are partners and nothing more. I can have dinner with whoever I choose to have dinner with."

"You'll never have the connection with any man that you have with me. You know that, right?"

"Never is a long time. I think I need a day off. Please leave."

Elliot left and headed to the Precinct. She them called Cragen to tell him she needed a day off. He said it was fine. He said he told the group from Chicago that they wouldn't need them until the trial and that Marlowe had Petrov and Dr. Elroy's arraignments that morning. At the arraignment, both were being held on remand. Dr. Elroy had asked ADA Marlowe for help and then he met in the Judge's chambers with Marlowe, Langan and the Judge. He told her everything he knew and what had really happened.

After Olivia hung up with Cragen and called Hank. She told him she took the day off and wanted to know if he wanted to spend some time together. He said that was fine. They were on their way to breakfast but she was welcome to join them. She gave him her address and then he came to get her. When he arrived, Al got out of the vehicle and let Olivia sit in from with Hank. Hank drove to wherever they were going and that gave Erin, Al and Antonio some time to get to know Olivia and she could get to know them as well. They were seated and had their order taken once they looked at the menu.

"Does your partner always make everything about him?"

"Pretty much. He also thinks he's the only man that's allowed in my life. I respect that he's married and has a family. He told me that I'll never have a connection with any man that I have with him. Some days I'm not sure how I've worked with him as long as I have. There is always some kind of drama going on in his life and I have to hear about it whether I want to or not. We had a case where a fertility clinic had frozen embryos stolen from it and I said I had thought about doing that because I really want a family of my own. I just never found the one to make that happen with. He made some kind comment that he wouldn't because he already has 5 kids. I told him not everyone is as fertile as his wife is."

"You're what, late 30's?"

"I'm 42 and I do still want a baby. Thank you for thinking I'm younger though. Sometimes I wish I was."

"I should have had 3 kids. Like I said before, Erin was the result of a drunken one night stand. I was young and stupid when that happened. I love Erin, don't get me wrong but her mother is a pain in the ass."

Erin nodded in agreement.

"Justin was actually a twin but his sister was stillborn."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Thanks. We wanted more kids but it never happened. A part of me still wants more kids."

Their food arrived and then once they finished eating, Olivia paid for breakfast and then they left. Hank dropped Erin, Al and Antonio off at the hotel and then Olivia showed Hank around the city. The more time they spent together, the harder they were falling for each other. They decided to walk around Central Park. They found a quiet spot and sat down.

"Hank?"

"Yeah?"

"I know we've known each other for a day but I'm already starting to fall for you. I loved pretending to be married to you working on that case we had."

"Then it wasn't just me. I'm fallin' for you too. I haven't felt this way about anyone since my wife. I loved pretending to be married to you too."

"I haven't felt this way about anyone. Ever."

"Would it be ok if I kissed you?"

"I thought you'd never ask."

They leaned into each other and kissed. Once they started kissing, they couldn't stop. They walked around again hand in hand and would occasionally give each other kisses. They went to one of Olivia's favorite ice cream parlors and ended up sharing something.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Do you think we could make something work between us? I'd kind of like to see where this goes."

"It might be hard because of the distance but I'd be willing to try. Having someone in another city might be better for me, since I'd have to work harder at it. I'm usually not good at relationships but like you, I'd also like to see where this goes."

"I'm sure your partner won't be thrilled."

"Contrary to what he likes to think, he has no claim to me. The more time I spend with you, the more I would love to spend some time in Chicago. I think I need a break from him. He had the nerve to ask me if I slept with you last night. I told him that what I do is none of his concern. He asked me if I wanted to sleep with him and I reminded him again that he was married. I would never cross that line with him even if he left his wife or she was dead."

Olivia noticed that Hank had chocolate on his chin, so she took her finger and wiped it off. They finished their ice cream and then they left. They headed in the direction of Olivia's apartment hand in hand. When they arrived, they went up. When they got up to Olivia's apartment, she unlocked the door and they went inside. They both took their jackets off.

"It's not much."

"It's nice."

"Thank you."

Olivia didn't really know why she chose to go to her apartment. She knew she wanted Hank but she wasn't sure if he felt the same way. Hank knew he wanted her but he didn't know how she felt about it. They were both nervous but they started kissing.

"Hank?"

"Yeah?"

"I want to be with you. I want you to make love to me."

"You sure?"

"I am. The more I'm with you, the more I want you."

They started kissing again and then he lifted her up as she wrapped her legs around his hips. They headed toward the bedroom and then he kicked the door shut. He set her down on the bed and they undressed each other before they made love. Afterwards they were both wrapped the covers and each other's arms. They were both out of breath.

"That was incredible!"

"You're pretty amazing yourself."

They looked into each other's eyes and kissed again. They pretty much stayed in bed for the rest of the day except when they decided to fix something for dinner. Hank ended up spending the night with her. They couldn't get enough of each other.

The next morning, they got up and once Olivia was ready, they went to Hank's hotel and spent more time in bed. Hank and Olivia had decided to keep what had happened between them to themselves for a while. Olivia left and then Hank got ready to go. Before he and his squad were headed the airport, Cragen told them when they would need to be back for the trial.

At the airport, Hank was sitting off by himself texting Olivia and then Erin came over to him.

"I was looking for you last night and you never replied to my texts. Is everything ok?"

"Yeah, fine."

"Is there something going on between you and Detective Benson?"

"This stays between us. You got that?"

"You have my word."

"To answer your question, yes, there is somethin' goin' on between Olivia and me."

"Did you two…?"

"Yep."

"I like her. That partner of hers though seemed like he was a real asshole and has a rather large ego."

"He said if she gets hurt, he will come after me and then he told me not to screw the case up."

"He messes with you, he messes with me. I know how much you loved Camille but you deserve some happiness. It's been a while."

"I don't know how I end up falling for women so quickly. Olivia and I couldn't get enough of each other last night and this morning."

"I did not need to know that. I do hope things work out for the two of you though. Are you planning to tell Justin?"

"I may have to since she's talking about wanting to come to Chicago but we also discussed getting away too."

"Justin can always stay with me and I'll make sure he gets to school."

"I appreciate that. If Olivia comes to Chicago, he may have to stay with you."

"That's fine."

Then Al and Antonio joined them.

"Meredith said Justin did fine on his own. She made sure that he had no wild parties, which he didn't. She made sure he did his homework and ate something besides junk food."

"He knows better than to have any wild parties. He can't have anyone over unless someone is home. I just don't want him getting mixed up with the wrong crowd. He didn't deal with Camille's death too well."

"To a certain extent, neither did you."

"True. He gets along with Meredith better than me most days. He even gets along with Erin better than me."

"That's him though."

"Enjoy Lexi while she's still young."

"Yeah, I know. Meredith said Justin picked Lexi up at school."

"The kids are pretty close though and they pretty much always have been. I just want to be able to have a better relationship with my son."

"That's understandable."

A little while later, the flight boarded and then it took off for Chicago.

A couple weeks later…

The group from Chicago was supposed to be headed back to New York for the trial but Buchanan had found out what had happened with Dr. Elroy and the Judge, so he moved for everything to be dropped. Petrov figured he had gotten away with it until Marlowe had dropped a bomb on him: Sophia and the baby were not dead. He was then taken into custody again after Sophia told her side of the story and he made threats to her. Ever since she had met Hank, she was distancing herself from Elliot and was now partnered with Fin, while Elliot was partnered with Munch. However, she and Elliot were together in Marlowe's office.

6 weeks later…

With this case finally behind them, Olivia was planning to take some time off to go to Chicago to be with Hank. She was glad to be getting a break from work and Elliot for a week. Hank ended up telling Justin about Olivia and he seemed to be ok with it. He was looking forward to eventually meeting her. Olivia knew that Hank had told his kids about them and she was fine with it. She had a long talk with Cragen and he knew everything. Hank also knew that she had told Cragen. While Fin didn't know what had actually happened, he had a feeling that it had something to do with Hank. It was quite obvious to both him and Munch that their long-time colleague and the Sergeant from Chicago had immediately hit it off. It hadn't taken Al and Antonio long to figure out that there was something going on between Hank and the beautiful SVU Detective even though they didn't let Hank know that they knew and they knew Erin would never betray her father's trust.

When Olivia's plane arrived in Chicago, she got off the plane and went to Baggage Claim to get her luggage. She went outside and Hank was waiting for her. He got out of his SUV and helped her with her bags.

"I have missed you so much."

"I've missed you too."

"Did you really mean it when you told me you loved me?"

"Yeah, I did."

"In that case, I love you too."

Hank opened the door of the SUV and kissed her before she got in. He shut it and then went to get in on the other side. On the way home, Olivia told him what had happened with the case. Hank decided to stop at the District, so he could show her around but he also wanted to introduce her to Trudy. He parked in his usual spot and they got out. He took her hand as they went inside.

"Hey, Hank. I thought you left."

"I did. I wanted to introduce you to Olivia Benson. Olivia, this is Trudy Platt, one of my closest friends."

"It is nice to meet you, Olivia."

"You too, Trudy."

"So, are you two a thing?"

"We are. She's with the NYPD Special Victims Unit and we hit it off when we were there to help with that case."

"How is Justin going to feel about this?"

"He knows and he seems to be ok with it. Erin knows too. This is her first trip to visit me, so she gets to meet Justin."

"He's upstairs visiting Erin."

"Thanks."

"Sure."

Hank and Olivia headed upstairs. Hank put his code in and then they headed up the rest of the way.

"Hey, Boss."

"Hey."

"Olivia, it's nice to see you again."

"It's nice to see all of you again too."

"Hi Olivia, I'm Justin. I've heard a lot about you from Pop."

"I've heard a lot about you too."

"I'm stayin' with Erin while Olivia is here."

"Thank you. Just stay out of trouble."

"I know. I will. You have my word."

"The 4 of us can meet for dinner tonight."

"Sounds like a plan."

"So, you two are a thing?"

"Yeah, we are."

"I'm happy for you."

"Thanks."

"How long are you here?"

"A week from Sunday."

"The 4 of us should have dinner one night."

"That sounds like a plan. I would love to meet your wife and daughter."

"Why don't I take Lex to the Cubs game with me?"

"You could do that and we can have dinner with Al and Meredith that night."

"She would love to go to the game."

"I take it your friend couldn't go."

"Yeah. He had plans that night. I'll stop over at the Olinskys and ask her myself. Thanks again for the tickets, Pop."

"No problem."

"She's not home today. She and some of her friends went up to Great America and then she's spending the night at her one friend's house."

"Ok. I'll stop over tomorrow or sometime this weekend."

"Ok."

Hank showed Olivia around and then they headed over to the house. Olivia had something she needed to tell Hank and she wasn't quite sure how to do it. When they arrived at the house, they went inside and Hank showed her around.

"Hank, can we talk for a few minutes?"

"Sure."

They sat down in the living room.

"What's on your mind?"

"I'm not sure how to say this, so here it goes. I'm a month late but I haven't had anything confirmed yet. I am sick most mornings."

"We'll stop and pick up a test and see what happens."

"We probably can't do that until morning though."

"Oh yeah, I know. I want you to make an appointment when you get home though."

"I will. I was nervous about telling you. I have wanted a baby for so long."

"What happens of you are pregnant? What does that mean for us?"

"I'm starting to think I need a change in my life, so maybe that would mean leaving New York."

"Is Stabler still being a jerk?"

"He is. He was pissed when I asked Cragen if I could switch partners. Fin understands why I needed a new partner because he's not a fan of Elliot's. Munch understands too and so does Cragen. I'm at the point where I don't even want to be around Elliot anymore. Elliot doesn't get that he needs to stop interfering with my personal life. He told me that if I wanted him to, he'd leave his wife. I basically told him that I didn't care what he did because I am not interested. I had lunch with his wife Kathy and told her what he has said. She said she figured something had been going on between us for a while, so she wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to leave her for me. I told her that I have always respected her and would never cross that line even if he did leave her or she died. I want to share my life with only one man and that's you whether I'm pregnant or not. I get it's only been a couple months but know I love you."

"I love you too. It happened this quickly with Camille too. We were married in 6 months. If you move here, what do you plan to do about working?"

"I take it there's no SVU here, right?"

"Not really. They've been talking about eventually starting one but a lot of the sexual assaults get investigated through us."

"I get that if I am pregnant, I'll be on desk duty. I've done some computer crime stuff. This isn't the first time I've had issues with Elliot. At that time, I went to computer crimes but this time, I wanted to stay with SVU, so I asked for a new partner."

"I normally don't like in house dating but I'd be willing to make an exception if you were to be in my unit. We will have to disclose though."

"I understand."

"If you're serious about moving here whether you're pregnant or not, then I can look to see where there are any openings. Maybe if you are pregnant, you can stay in Intelligence and answer calls for us and then we'll worry about it later."

"I'm serious about it."

"Ok."

They went upstairs and then they made love. They both fell asleep for a while. Hank texted Erin and Justin and told them where to meet them for dinner. During dinner, Justin and Olivia got to know each other and they really seemed to hit it off. Hank was glad for that because he knew how close Justin was to Camille and that he missed his mother a lot. Hank told Justin and Erin that they were going to the beach tomorrow, so if they wanted to join them, they could. They both agreed. Once everyone left, Justin and Erin went to Erin's and Hank and Olivia stopped at a pharmacy to get a pregnancy test. When they got home, they made love again before the fell asleep in each other's arms.

The next morning, Olivia got up and went into the bathroom. She did the pregnancy test and set the timer on her phone. Once she finished with that, she got sick but this time it was worse than it had been. Hank woke up and heard her in the bathroom. He went in there with her and rubbed her back.

"I took the test. This is the worst the morning sickness has been. I'm sure I know what the results are going to be."

"We'll know soon."

Olivia cleaned up and then the timer on her phone went off. She picked up the test and looked at it.

"It's positive. Hank, I am so sorry."

"Why are you sorry? We both did this and we weren't too careful."

"I guess I didn't pay close enough attention that I was mid-cycle at that time."

"I'm as much to blame for this as you are. Come here."

Olivia moved closer to Hank and then he wrapped his arms around her. He then put his hand on her belly. He left and went to start breakfast. After breakfast, Olivia was feeling better. They got ready to head to the beach and left to pick Erin and Justin up. The 4 of them spent the entire day together. On the way to drop Erin and Justin off, they made a stop at the Olinskys, so Olivia could meet Meredith and Justin could ask Lexi to go to the baseball game with him.

On Sunday, Hank showed Olivia the sights in Chicago. She had seen a lot of the city when they went to the beach but he took her to a lot of the major places. Justin and Erin came over for dinner. Hank couldn't believe how well Justin seemed to take to Olivia.

They ended up doing something different each day. Hank took her to Headquarters to find out what might be available for Olivia or if she could be in Intelligence for the time being but he also told them he and Olivia were a couple. They informed her that they were eventually planning to start a Special Victims Unit and they would definitely take her into consideration to run it. The day Justin and Lexi were going to the game, Hank and Olivia had gone over to Al and Meredith's for dinner. Olivia and Meredith seemed to hit it off too.

By the time Sunday got there, Olivia was not ready to go home and Hank wasn't ready to let her go. Erin and Justin went to the airport with them.

"It has been an amazing week."

"It sure has."

"Olivia it was great getting to know you this last week. I really hope things work out with you and Pop."

"Me too. I think I'm leaning towards moving here. I'm ready for a change."

"You're one of us now."

"I'm glad to hear that. Thank you."

"No problem."

Justin hugged Olivia and then Erin did too. Hank wrapped his arms around her and kissed her, while Justin got her bag. Hank took her bag and walked her inside, while Erin and Justin got back into the SUV.

"Let me know when you know for sure."

"I will. I love you."

"I love you too."

Hank kissed her again and then she went to check in. Hank got into the SUV and headed home, while Olivia headed to security before she headed to the gate.

To be continued…
