Authors note:
SOOO SORRY FOR THE LATE UPDATE! IT WAS EXAM WEEK, and it still is! Also my
writing may be a bit bad, so please excuse the next two chapters. It's like 2am right now LOLLl!
Soda Pov:
I kept my eyes on Pony as I swung at the two socs. When I saw one of the three dragging him
to the fountain, I had about enough of this. Out of nowhere, I suddenly felt energy shoot up my
spine and I decked the soc right in the head. He fell down and never came back again. The
second one seemed to wake up from his drunken gaze, but I quickly pummel him where the sun
don't shine. I didn't have time to recover, because Ponyboy needed me. I panicked when I saw
him go under and dashed at the soc that held down his legs.
We went down together, and rolled around the grass. I received a few jabs to the gut and I
kicked right back. Ponyboy was still held under the water, and the fear of losing him kicked in.
Then Darry came out of nowhere, madder than I've ever seen him. The two socs holding down
Pony were down in a second. I pushed off the soc on top of me and left him to run back to his
mustang. Darry had already pulled Ponyboy out of the water and was shaking him.
"PONYBOY!" I exclaimed as I ran over to get a good look at him.
"Dammit!" Darry shouted when Ponyboy went limp in his arms. He lifted Pony bridal style and
signaled me to get going. The walk home was mostly silent except for the times where Darry
asked if I was okay. Compared to being drowned nearly to death, a few minor bruises/scratches
here and there were NOTHING. I noticed Pony shivering in his unconscious state and slipped
off my flannel. Darry helped by wrapping Pony in it.
Our house could be seen around the block and the lights were on inside. I slammed the doors
open and immediately noticed the gang staring curiously at us. Before any of them could speak,
I shoved off the lazy bum on our couch and Darry quickly set down our hurt baby brother.
Everybody immediately noticed Pony's clothes soaking wet and this raised eyebrows.
"The kid looks like he's been through hell!" -Dally
"That's cuz he's been almost drowned, and before y'all ask questions, HELP FIRST!" With that,
everybody scrambled around to collect supplies around the house. Darry immediately stripped
Pony of his wet clothes, although Pony incoherently mumbled something and tried to push his
hand away.
"Hush, it's okay. Your shirt will make you sick if you don't let us take it off." This was the most
gentle tone I've ever heard Darry use, he really did love our brother. Ponyboy mumbled
something else, but nonetheless stopped resisting.
"Holy smokes! The kid has abs!" Two-Bit exclaimed. Steve smacked him upside the head and
told him to shut it.
"So…." Dallas drawled.
"So what?" I asked back, acting as dumb as I could.
"Are you just gonna skip on the fact that the KID ALMOST DROWNED? Don't give me the dumb
crap Curtis, I need answers." The room went silent and everyone had their eyes on me. Even
timid ol' Johnny made eye contact.
"Alright, alright. So basically, we were at the fountain when this mustang drove up to us. Out
came 'bout five socs and started gaining up on us. Three were on Pony and two on me. None of
us had blades on us, and the drunks knew it too. Before I could tell what was really happening,
Pony was being drowned! Thankfully, Dar arrived just in time, but as ya'll can see, Pony's not in
such good shape." The anger in the room was so thick that it could probably be cut with a knife.
It was like a chain reaction as everybody blew up at once.
"The f* bas* find joy in jumping kids."- Dally
"When I get my hands on them–" Steve
"I'M CALLING A RUMBLE!" Two-Bit
"Son of a gun, will Pony be okay?"- Johnny
"Yea, he's gonna heal just fine. He may be named after a Pony, but he has the spirit of a horse!"
I wasn't sure about this, but Pony seemed okay after being tucked under thousands of blankets
and being taken to his bedroom. Geeze, I sure hope I am right, no I better be right. He'll be safe,
with me Darry and the gang protecting him…. Right?
