Everyone Pov:

The night went on with more calmed conversations about what the next step would be. They all

agreed on a rumble and Dallas left to find Tim. Johnny was about to leave, but Darry stopped

him, no way he was gonna let him get beaten to a pulp. Two-Bit ringed his mother and told her

he would be crashing at the curtis's. Steve just left and could be heard cursing up and down the

neighbourhood. This left Darry and Soda to exchange good night's as they headed to their own

rooms. Soda protectively slung an arm around Pony, afraid to let him go after what just

happened.

Around 2am, Soda head sniffling coming from across the hall. Curious, he quietly tiptoed out of

the bedroom, careful not to wake Pony. In the hall, he could hear Johnny's soft snoring and

Two-Bit's obnoxious snoring. He listened closely and followed the unusual noise. He ended up

in front of Darry's bedroom, and peeked inside his room. He was in for quite the surprise, as he

saw Darry softly sobbing into his hands, sitting at the edge of his bed. This was quite

heartbreaking to hear, and so Soda stepped inside. Darry hurriedly tried to cover up the

evidence of tears, but his voice cracked. Soda wrapped Darry in a hug and questioned him.

"Dar, are you..are you crying?" He knew it was a stupid question, but he wanted the answer

straight from Darry himself.

"I'll be okay Soda, go back to bed." If he thought Soda would just give up, boy was he wrong.

'No Darry, tell me what's going on." Darry sighed, and wiped the last of his tears.

"It's just that we were so close to losing our baby brother. J-just like our parents. I don't know

what I'd do if he died after being yelled at by me. There's so many things I wanted to talk to him

about other than hounding his ass." This was the most Darry was ever open with Soda, and

Soda was glad he was communicating his feelings with him.

"It's going be okay Darry, Pony will be fine. He loves you y'know? Just don't show it, but will

when you give him time. Haha, you were practically Superman in the fountain tonight, punching

those socs like there's no tomorrow!" Soda laughed through his own tears, and did a little

punching motion that made Darry chuckle.

"Go back to bed Sodapop, Pony will have nightmares if ya don't." With that, Soda left and went

back under the covers and slung an arm around Pony once more. This time, he took a good

look at him. Pony's left eye was swollen, and lips slightly blue. His sparkling green-grey eyes

slightly fluttered as he slept. Poor Pony also had a large gash on his left cheek that Darry

patched up. Soda sighed, and he too drifted off to sleep. His last thoughts were about Pony.
