A/N: This is related to the chapter 'Sisters in Blue'. There will probably another chapter to this arc. I don't own any of the characters except my own.

Surprising Olivia

Olivia and Hank had planned to get away for Valentine's Day but things had gotten crazy for both of them, so they had to put it on hold. A couple months had passed and it had been a while since they had seen each other in person. Olivia had been having a bad week and she needed to get away for a few days. Noah was still in school, so she arranged for him to stay with Amanda, Sonny and the girls, so she could have a few days alone with Hank. She had gone in for a few hours and was about to head to the airport. Fin was the only one in at the moment.

"Ok, Fin, I'm heading out."

"Say hi to Voight."

"I will."

Who's takin' Noah?"

"Amanda and Carisi. It was the best I could do on short notice."

"When are you back?"

"Wednesday is my return trip, so I'll be back here Thursday."

"Does Voight even know you're comin'?"

"Not exactly."

Olivia went back into her office to get her stuff and before she came out, Hank had come in.

"Oh, Liv, you might want to see this."

"Now what? I'm in a hurry."

Olivia came out of her office.

"Well, you apparently had the same idea I did. I was just about to head to the airport to see you."

"How long were you planning to stay?"

"Wednesday."

Who has Noah?"

"Rollins and Carisi. Well, I guess we need to rethink our plans because I'm not staying here."

Hank took Olivia's bag and then they left. They got into Olivia's SUV.

"I gave them my two months' notice."

"You did?"

"Yep. Two months ago and yesterday was my last day. I still haven't done anything about selling my house yet but I have some stuff with me and I can go back and forth if I need to."

"You never said anything."

"I wanted it to be a surprise."

"I love you. You know that, right?"

"I love you too. I'm thinkin' we need to make it official."

"I think so too."

"Atlantic City or Vegas?"

"You know, I have never been to Vegas."

"Neither have I."

Olivia drove to her apartment and then they went up. They found airfare to Vegas and they also applied for their marriage license. They found somewhere to stay and had looked at wedding chapels close by. They decided to stay there a few days. Hank had packed his suit with the stuff he brought with him, so Olivia found something she could wear when they got married and then they headed to the airport. They got checked in, went through security and grabbed a bite to eat before heading to the gate.

"We don't have rings."

"We can get somethin' there."

"That sounds like a plan. Do you think everyone will be pissed at us for doing this?"

"Maybe but I don't care."

"Honestly, I don't either. I hate when we can't make time for each other."

"I feel the same way."

"I just can't believe that by the end of today, I will be married to the man I love. I can't wait."

"I can't either."

They kissed and waited for the flight to board. Once the flight boarded, they waited for it to take off. Meanwhile Erin had been in town and was at work. She was heading to see if Olivia wanted to have lunch with her when her phone rang. She noticed it was Trudy, so she picked it up.

"Platt, is Hank ok?"

"He's fine. He retired yesterday."

"He did what!"

"I don't even think Olivia knew."

"I know they haven't seen each other in a couple months but things have been crazy for her here. Did he just decide this?"

"He gave a couple months' notice and told Upton she was in charge. He didn't want a party or anything."

"Wow! I was actually on my way to see Liv to see if she wanted to have lunch with me. I let you know what I find out."

"Ok, thanks."

Erin hung up and arrived at the Precinct. She parked and went up. Fin was still the only one there.

"Hey, Fin."

"Hey, Lindsay."

"Is Liv here?"

"Nah. She was supposed to be goin' to Chicago until Voight showed up and they left together."

"I just got a call from Platt. He retired yesterday. They knew about it a couple months ago but he didn't want a party or anything. She said she doesn't even think Liv knew about it."

"At least he finally realized he needed to be with Liv and Noah all the time."

Fin looked to see if he could find a location on them by pinging Olivia's phone. He then tried Hank's.

"Their phones are on but I'm not gettin' a location."

"Which could mean they're on a plane."

"Where do you think they went though?"

"I have no idea. Let me know if you hear anything."

"You too."

"I will."

Erin left and grabbed something for lunch before she headed back to work. Several hours had passed and the flight was arriving in Vegas. Hank and Olivia got off the plane and went to get their luggage. They got the on the shuttle to the hotel and once they arrived, they got checked in. They went up to their suite.

"This is amazing."

"Nothin' but the best for you. You know that."

"I love you so much."

"I love you too."

They started kissing and then they made love. Afterwards Hank had his arms wrapped around her and she had her head on his chest.

"I didn't think we'd be able to wait until we were married."

"Nope. We need to do some errands before we make this official. Are you sure this is what you want?"

"I've never been more sure of anything in my life."

They kissed and then they got out of bed. They got dressed and then they went to do whatever errands they needed to do before they got married. As they were walking through the hotel, they ran into someone Olivia knew well.

"Langan, what brings you here?"

"I could ask you the same thing. Actually, my oldest nephew is getting married and this is the weekend of this bachelor party. He chose to have it here. His dad passed away a couple years ago, so I'm kind of the surrogate dad for him and we've always been pretty close."

"Well, aren't you sweet? This is your sister's son?"

"Yep. My oldest sister. So, what brings you two here?"

"Do not tell anyone what I am about to tell you."

"Lawyer-Client confidentiality."

"We're getting married and no one knows."

"Olivia, that's great! Congratulations to you both!"

"Thanks."

"Do you need a witness?"

"We didn't think of that."

"I think they actually provide them, don't they."

"I think they do but it's ok if it's someone we know."

"Would you?"

"Of course. I will also take care of the paperwork for Hank to legally adopt Noah."

"Ok, good. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Olivia told Trevor what time they were getting married and he said he would meet them where they were now. He left and they headed back to their room. They both took a shower and got ready. Olivia figured out what she was doing with her hair. Olivia's phone rang and Hank notice it was Noah, so he answered it.

"Hey, kiddo."

"Hey, Dad. Are you and Mom up to anything?"

"Not really."

Olivia had come out of the bathroom and saw Hank on her phone. He mouthed that it was Noah. She told him to put it on speaker.

"Let me put you on speaker."

"Ok."

Hank put the phone on speaker.

"Hi Sweetie."

"Hey, Mom. So, you two aren't up to anything?"

"We're just enjoying some time together."

"We kind of know you're not in Chicago. Erin located you by your phone."

Hank gave Olivia a look.

"Why are you in Las Vegas?"

"Because we needed to get away."

"Everyone seems to think you're getting married."

"Let them think whatever they want."

"So, are you getting married?"

"Is your homework done?"

"I asked you first."

"I'm the mom."

"No, it's not."

"Then get busy."

"So, are you getting married?"

"Homework."

"Ok, fine!"

"We'll check in tomorrow."

"Yep. Bye."

They ended the call.

"The least you could have done was turn your location off on your phone. These are cops we're dealin' with and they know how to track people by their phones."

"I know. I'm sorry."

"It's ok. I can't get mad at you, you know that."

Olivia turned the location off on her phone.

"I don't like being interrogated by my 11-year old. If he said everyone thinks we're getting married, then they must all be over at Amanda's. Anyway, it's off now but it's too late."

"Oh, well. You ready?"

"I'm ready."

They made sure they had the rings and their marriage license, took the key card and then they left to meet Trevor.

"Thanks for doing this, Trevor."

"You're welcome. How have things been for you since Stabler has been back?"

"He really hasn't spoken to me since I told him I was in a relationship and happy."

"I always thought you were too good for him anyway."

"Nothing ever would have happened between me and him. I'm really not happy he's back though."

"I can't blame you for that."

The 3 of them walked to the wedding chapel and then Hank handed them their marriage license. With Trevor as their witness, Hank and Olivia made it official. Trevor had taken pictures on their phones as well. After they were married, Trevor congratulated them and went to join the group he was there with, while Hank and Olivia went back to their room. They ordered Room Service for dinner, including Champagne. When everything arrived, they toasted and ate. After dinner and dessert, they celebrated in bed before falling asleep.

The next morning in New York, everyone got up and started their day before they went to work or school. Hank and Olivia had woken up and got ready for breakfast. They went to find something to eat and then they went walking along the Strip holding hands. Olivia took pictures as they walked. They went into the Coca-Cola and the M&M Stores. When they started to get hungry, they found somewhere for lunch before they headed back to the hotel. They went to the pool for a while and ran into Trevor again. Trevor introduced them to his nephews, brother and other relatives that were there.

"When is the wedding?"

"Next weekend in Hawaii. His fiancée is having her bachelorette party this weekend at the MGM Grand."

"I didn't miss doing that."

"I never did that when I got married the first time."

"I wouldn't want to do this either but I don't have any plans to get married."

"Yet you're here but I'm sure it's to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."

"I doubt he would. He's completely devoted to her and has only been with her but I wonder about some of his friends though."

"I get that, since I deal with that on a regular basis. How long have they been together?"

"They've known each other all their lives. I've known her almost as long as I've known him. He's very supportive of her career."

"What does she do?"

"She's a nurse and he's into computers. They've been engaged since they graduated from college and they bought a place in Manhattan last year."

"How old are they?"

"25 and she works Emergency at Mercy. Her parents and my sister are in Connecticut."

"You're not talking about Kelsey, are you?"

"I am."

"I've met her. She was my nurse the last time I was there. She was telling me about her wedding. I see all the Langan men look alike."

"We do. Blame my dad for that."

"Your dad didn't come to this?"

"No. He and my mom are going to the wedding though. This is the first grandchild getting married. When my brother-in-law passed, he left money for each of the kids to put towards whatever they wanted."

"How many kids does this sister have?"

"She has 4 just like my parents and they're all about 3 years apart. My youngest niece, Hannah, is finishing her sophomore year of high school and turns 16 in June. She wants to get a car when she gets her driver's license. The youngest nephew, Kyle, is graduating from college in May and wants to use his money to get a place of his own. My oldest niece, Beth, is using her money to help pay for college. Ben used his to help pay for their home but he still has some to help pay for the wedding. They wanted to pay for the wedding on their own but the nice uncle that I am, offered to help pay for it and they took me up on it."

"That was very generous of you."

"Ben is also my godson. I'm actually closer to his mom than I am to my younger sister."

"How much older is she than you?"

"Abby is 2 years older and Doug is 2 years younger. Victoria is 10 years younger than Doug and thinks she's better than everyone else."

"Will everyone be at the wedding?"

"That I don't know. I kind of hope Victoria won't be."

"How's Noah?"

"He's fine. He's been spending more time with his half-brother than I would like him too. Hank doesn't necessarily trust the family."

"After what happened with Sheila Porter, I probably wouldn't either."

"I still haven't told him about Johnny D and now that he's getting older, I know I should. He probably needs to know what Ellie went through too. The McCanns asked what I knew about Connor's father but then they said they weren't sure they really wanted to know. I think a part of them knows he wasn't a good person. Although it sounds like they know his mother."

"If you decide to tell him, do it in a way you think he'll understand. You know he's going to ask questions."

"He always does."

"How much does he know about what you do for a living?"

"He knows I keep bad guys off the streets."

"Does he know you deal with crimes of a sexual nature?"

"For the most part, yes. He knows what rape is and he understands that no means no."

That's a start."

Then Trevor's brother came over.

"Any idea if Vicky is coming to the wedding?"

"I hope not. Abby doesn't want her there and she never spends any time with Mom and Dad either."

"Nope, which is why she moved across the country after high school, so she didn't have to deal with it."

"Mom and Dad are happy where they're living."

Then Trevor's nephews came over.

"Did you invite Aunt Vicky?"

"We did but she declined."

"Typical."

"We have cousins we don't even know because she's such a bitch. Was she always like that?"

"Basically, yes. Everything always had to be about her."

"Why did Grandma and Grandpa even have her in the first place?"

"We've been wondering the same thing for years. Seriously, Mom had a couple miscarriages and they were about to give up trying when she got pregnant again. They wanted 2 of each."

"That makes sense."

"She listened to Mom and Dad but she never listened to any of us. She said Abby was jealous of her, which is why she didn't like her."

"Nice."

"Yeah."

"We gotta find you a good woman, big brother."

"No kidding, Uncle Trev."

"Olivia knows Kelsey."

"Do you?"

"Yep. She was my nurse the last time I was at the hospital."

"That's awesome."

"What are you studying, Kyle?"

"Criminal Justice."

"What do you want to do?"

"I'm hoping to be accepted into the NYPD Police Academy and I would love to work in SVU someday."

"It's very difficult to do that sometimes."

"I'm always up for a challenge. William Lewis was a psycho and that case from 8 years ago with the girl that Yates guy killed was kind of sad."

"That was someone Hank knew and worked with and I was the cop that William Lewis held for 4 days."

"Oh, wow! I had no idea that was you. I know Uncle Trevor used to defend rapists."

"Yes, he did. He's much more likeable now."

"Thanks. I think."

"Excuse us."

"Sure."

Ben and Kyle left and joined the others.

"They seem like good guys."

"They are."

"Are you two the designated chaperones for this?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

"Does Kyle have anyone in his life?"

"He's actually with Kelsey's sister Hayley. It's the same situation. They are so respectful of them. Abby and Eric really raised them right. She's expecting Kyle and Hayley to get engaged within the next year or so."

"You're with SVU?"

"Yep. I've been there for close to a quarter of a century. I was promoted to Captain 3 almost 4 years ago."

"Wow! Are you a cop too?"

"Yeah. I was with Chicago and just retired. I was a Sergeant. What do you do?"

"I'm a Therapist."

"Wow!"

"How did you two end up together?"

"We worked on a couple cases together and sort of hit it off. We've known each other for 8½ years and have been together for almost 5 years. Hank has gotten me through so much. My former partner came back into my life a couple years ago and lost his wife in a car bombing. He basically told me I was the reason he left because he had feelings for me. I think he just assumed I was going to be available and want to be in a relationship with him now that he was all of a sudden available. When I told him that I was in a relationship with someone and happy, he hasn't spoken to me. His Sergeant and I have gotten to be good friends, so she has told me that if he continues to bother me, to let her know. Yes, I loved and cared for him but more in a platonic way."

"That's understandable."

"If I wasn't with Hank, I may have given this guy a chance. Our relationship has really changed since we first met and he was defending the perps I was trying to keep off the streets. He helped me adopt my son and he knows what I've been through. Elliot doesn't. All he seemed to want to know is how many relationships I have been in since he left. The conversation usually has to be about him. Hank lost his wife over a decade ago and I know he still loves her. I don't expect him not to. Elliot's wife was barely in her grave and he's confessing his feelings for me. I told him he obviously has PTSD but he told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Actually, I do know. I've been seeing a Therapist on and off since what I gone through with William Lewis."

"Everyone is different but he needs time to grieve whether he thinks he does or not. It sounds like he's in denial about the PTSD thing. Is he getting help?"

"Supposedly. He's never one to admit that he needs help. He has a lot of anger issues and he has for a long time."

"Unfortunately, some people are like that. Olivia, who's your Therapist?"

"Peter Lindstrom."

"I've heard of him."

"I've had my share of anger issues and I've done some stuff I'm not so proud of but I'm trying to be better for Olivia and Noah."

"Have you talked to someone about it?"

"Sometimes we have to do mandated sessions after a hard case but it's not for me. I admit that. I think the person I confided in the most when my job started gettin' to me was Olivia. I also talk to Dan Charles, the Head of Psychiatry at Chicago Med, sometimes but it's more of an off the books thing."

"That is sometimes a good thing to do."

"My first wife died from cancer and I didn't want to be put through that again but then Olivia came into my life."

"It happens. Our sister lost her husband a couple years ago and said she's not sure if she wants be in another relationship but the kids have all said they would be ok with it, even the youngest."

"My son died nearly 7 years ago and my daughter-in-law has recently started to show interest in wanting to date again. My grandson was a year old when his dad died. She has done a great job with him. I couldn't handle things with my son after his mother passed but it wasn't until he enlisted in the Army and became a dad himself that we started to have a better relationship. Actually, I dropped him off at the Army Recruitment Office and told him I'd see him in 4 years."

"Is the Army the reason he died?"

"No. He tried helping the widow of an Army buddy of his and they both ended up getting killed."

"Wow! I'm sorry to hear that."

"Thanks."

They talked for a little while longer and then Trevor and Doug went to join everyone else. Hank and Olivia went into the water again and then they went back up to their room. They made love and then fell asleep for a little while. When they woke up, they decided to find something for dinner. After dinner, they went back to the pool. They decided to walk along the Strip to see everything at night. Olivia was taking pictures again.

"This is so different at night."

"It sure is. Do you want to go on an actual honeymoon?"

"We don't have to. A few days here is fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"I still need to go back to Chicago and get my house packed up."

"Maybe we can head there first and start working on that before we head back to New York. We should probably look for a bigger place for the 3 of us. I can take more time off if I need to.

Hank kissed Olivia as they continued walking. After a while, they went back to the hotel and went to bed. The next morning, they got up and got ready before they went to have breakfast. When they got back from breakfast, Olivia decided to call Noah.

"Hey, Mom."

"Hey, Sweetie. Are you behaving yourself?"

"Yes. Are you two behaving yourselves?"

"Of course we are."

"You never answered my question from the other night."

"Yes, we are married."

"That is so awesome! I am so happy for you. Is Hank gonna be my dad for real now?"

"Yes, he is. Trevor already knows because he was here for his nephew's bachelor party this weekend. He came with us as a witness and said he will start the paperwork."

"Good. I just want a dad so much."

"I know you do. Hank didn't mind that you were calling him Dad before he really was your dad. We're sorry we didn't include you."

"That's ok. Sometimes you need time to yourselves. I totally get that."

"You're such a good kid. You know that?"

"I try."

"What are you up to today?"

"Jesse and Billie wanna go to the Zoo, so that's where Aunt Amanda is taking us. I think Aunt Phoebe is coming with us. Uncle Sonny has a big court case coming up that he needs to prepare for and Uncle Fin has to help him."

"I'm sure Fin is thrilled about having to work on a Saturday. We kind of want to keep this a secret from everyone for now."

"I get it."

"Can I talk to Aunt Amanda for a few minutes?"

"Sure. I love you both."

"We love you too."

Noah handed his phone to Amanda, so Olivia could talk to her. After she was done talking to Amanda, she hung up.

"He was happy for us. I did tell Amanda too."

"I'm sure Erin will be pissed."

"Noah seemed to be pretty understanding about it and he said he knows we need time to ourselves sometimes. He's just happy that you're now officially going to be his dad. He's glad you allowed him to call you Dad before you officially were his dad."

"I've always thought of him as my son ever since we got together. I was just pissed when Sheila kidnapped him as you were. That is precisely the reason I don't trust these McCann people."

"I get it. I'm surprised he didn't want to stay with them this weekend. A part of me thinks it's time to tell him about his real parents."

"I'll support you no matter what you decide to do."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

The started kissing and then they made love. They went to the pool for a while and then they went to get a bite to eat before going back to the pool.

During the rest of their stay, they explored some of the other casinos. They left and headed to the airport. Hank had changed their reservations to Chicago instead of New York and then had reservations from Chicago to New York. When the plane arrived in Chicago, they got off the plane and went to get their luggage. His SUV was at the airport, so they had a way to get to his house. On the way, they stopped to grab a bite to eat before they headed to his house. When they arrived, he parked the SUV and they got out. They went into the house and there were boxes stacked.

"What the hell?"

He looked at the boxes.

"Erin has been here."

Then Erin had come in after having lunch with Kim and Trudy.

"You're here!"

"So are you."

"I've been here since Friday night. I made arrangements for the flight after you talked to Noah about a week ago. I figured I needed to go though some of this stuff anyway, since I was still storing some of my stuff here. Olive and Daniel were here over the weekend to see if they wanted any of Justin's old toys. He wanted the Legos, matchbox cars and some of the other stuff. There's a box to be sent to her because she didn't want to deal with it going back."

"You did all this yourself?"

"I had help. Trudy, Kim, Hailey and the guys came over and helped and like I said, Olive and Daniel were here too. Even some of the people from 51 came over to help. So, are you two official?"

Hank and Olivia both held up their left hands.

"You pissed?"

"No. All I have to say is it's about time, you two! Who in New York knows?"

"I talked to Noah on Saturday and told him and then I told Amanda. Whether she told Carisi or not, I have no idea. Noah said Phoebe was going to the Zoo with them on Saturday because Carisi and Fin were working on a case that's coming up. Trevor Langan was in Vegas for his nephew's bachelor party and he actually went with us as a witness. He said he'll start the paperwork for Hank to officially adopt Noah. Noah is really excited about that."

"I bet he is. How was Vegas?"

"It was perfect. The weather was beautiful. We spent time at the pool and did quite a bit walking. My surgically repaired ankle is bothering me a little bit after all that though."

"I can imagine."

"Thanks for doin' this."

"No problem. The kitchen is basically done except for the refrigerator and I haven't done a whole lot in your bedroom yet. You've got your stuff in your safe too."

"That also includes my gun. I'm thinkin' of packin' up my SUV with as much as I can and drivin' to New York. Olivia may not want to do that though. I'll have the rest of it shipped but I don't necessarily have anywhere to put it for now."

"When we find something, we can always buy all new furniture. I'm fine with that. Maybe you can donate your stuff that you don't want."

"That's a possibility."

Hank and Olivia went up to go through the stuff in Hank's bedroom. Hank had called Trudy to see if she was available for dinner and she said she was. They decided on a time and place to meet. They finished and headed to where they were meeting Trudy.

"Good to see ya, Hank!"

"You too. Thanks for helpin' to pack the house."

"No problem."

They went in and got a table. They looked at the menu before they had their order taken.

"You two look like you both got some sun."

"The weather in Vegas was absolutely perfect."

"Why Vegas?"

Hank and Olivia held up their left hands.

"You two finally decided to get married, huh?"

"We did."

"Congratulations!"

"Thanks."

"Whose idea was that?"

"His and he suggested either Vegas or Atlantic City. I picked Vegas. I'm glad we did what we did. That way no one could stop us."

"Like your former partner?"

"Especially him. I'm just glad that he hasn't spoken to me since I told him I was in a relationship and happy. I think I would have been much happier if he had never come back to the NYPD or New York for that matter. My relationship with Hank is the first one I have gotten right and once we got together, I knew I wanted it to be forever. Our biggest hurdle was the distance and it got hard sometimes."

"I know I had said I wanted to go away with you for Valentine's Day but once I got back here, things had gotten so crazy. After I had gotten back from New York that last time, I knew I had some decisions to make. I gave my notice and talked to Upton first. Then I talked to everyone else. I said I didn't want a fuss made about it, which I didn't and they respected that. I know Erin and Burgess still talk, so I wouldn't have been completely surprised if she had told her."

"Platt was the one that told me that and it was a day after it happened."

"We had talked the night before you came to New York but you never said anything."

"Because I wanted to tell you face to face. I know Ruzek, Atwater and Burgess have all been with the unit longer but none of them are Detectives. Maybe bein' responsible for the unit will help Upton keep her mind off of Halstead."

"So far, she's doin' pretty good. I help out when I can even if it's just lookin' stuff up or doin' the whiteboard."

"How's she doing since Jay left?"

"It's been hard. He extended it and basically did it without talkin' to her about it."

"She and I had a long talk. I told her I have connections down there. I said if she doesn't hear from him to let me know and I will check with the person I know down there to make sure he's ok. I told her I still care about him and want him to be safe. She said she understood that and she knows he still cares about me too. She said he calls as often as he can."

They kept talking and then their food arrived, so they ate. After they were done eating, they headed home. Olivia had let Fin know that she was planning to take the rest of the week off. Erin and Olivia had taken all the stuff Hank didn't want to a donation place and Hank had someone pick up the furniture he didn't want. Hank was going to drive back, so he canceled his plane reservation back to New York and Erin and Olivia flew home on Sunday after they finished cleaning. Since all the furniture was gone, Hank was staying with Trudy and Mouch until he left.

Hank had packed up his SUV and had contacted a Realtor to put the house on the market. The Realtor knew that he was moving out of state but Hank said he come back if he had to. Once the paperwork had been filled out and Hank had given the Realtor the keys, he left to join the majority of his family in New York.
