A/N: This is another part to the two previous chapters ('Holiday Tradition' and 'Christmas in Hawaii'). It takes place a month after they return from Hawaii. I don't own any of the characters except my own.

Interrupted

It was the weekend before Valentine's Day and just after Olivia's birthday and Hank had been planning something romantic for Olivia for her birthday and Valentine's Day. Pete and Justin were both doing something with Erin and Olive the next weekend and Hank and Olivia would have all the kids for the entire weekend. They had been letting Noah stay with Serena more often since they returned from Hawaii but this was going to be the first time they were leaving him in charge for an extended period of time. Hank had made reservations at a romantic restaurant and they were going to spend a couple nights in a hotel. Olivia and her squad had been pretty busy since she and Erin had come back from Hawaii and Hank knew she needed a few days to relax and not think about work. Erin and Justin knew the plan and Erin had filled in the rest of the squad, so they knew not to bother Olivia. Hank was picking Olivia up at the Precinct and then they were heading over to the hotel to get ready. He had gotten a carriage to take them to the restaurant and then they would go on a romantic ride around the city before going back to the hotel. He was getting ready to pick Olivia up and making sure he had everything.

"You two sure you'll be ok?"

"Yeah, Dad. We'll be fine. If there are any problems, we'll call Erin and Pete, Justin and Olive or Uncle Al and Aunt Meredith. If there is an emergency, we'll call 9-1-1. We won't open the door unless it's for someone we know."

"Someone will be checkin' in on you."

"I don't doubt that. Bye, Dad."

"Lock the door."

"I know."

"Bye, Daddy."

"Bye. Love you both."

"We love you too."

Noah hugged Hank and then Serena gave him a hug and a kiss. Hank then left to get Olivia. As soon as Hank left, Noah locked the door. When Hank arrived at the Precinct, he got out of his SUV and went up.

"Is she ready?"

"She's finishing somethin' up."

"Is everything ok?"

"I know Noah can handle this but I'm a little uneasy about leavin' them this long by themselves."

"They'll be fine. He is nothing like Justin was at that age. I came to live with you when Justin was a little older than what Serena is now and she's nothing like he was at that age."

"I'm surprised Justin actually grew up but the Army and bein' a dad did that to him."

"He definitely did grow up after all that."

"I told Noah that someone would be checkin' in on them. He knows to call you and Pete, Justin and Olive or Al and Meredith if somethin' happens."

"Meredith is at our house?"

"Yeah with all 6 of them."

"Ok. Have Noah and Serena eaten yet?"

"There's stuff there he can microwave or put in the oven."

"The twins wanted burgers for dinner, so we were planning to go out. Do you think they'd want to come with us?"

"You can call and find out."

"I will do that."

Erin called Noah and asked if he and Serena wanted to go out for burgers with them. He asked Serena what she thought and they both thought that was ok. Erin then hung up.

"I gotta say, Liv's been handlin' Stabler leavin' again better than she did the last time."

"I know she said she'll believe that he'll keep in contact with her this time when it actually happens. We've had Kathleen, Dickie and Bernie over for dinner and he pretty much did the same thing to them too. Olivia had mixed feelings about him bein' back because she figured he was goin' to try to mess things up for us. His reaction whenever she'd mentioned Noah dancing to him pretty much told her that he wasn't all that supportive. His situation with Eli was a lot like what I went through with Justin after Camille died but hopefully Eli won't make the same stupid mistakes Justin did."

"Justin regrets that."

"Yeah, I know he does. I regret a lot of the things I've done too. Leavin' Chicago was hard because that's where Camille is but I needed a change. I'm not so sure I would have done this for just anyone."

"If anyone gets that, I do. It was hard for me to leave Chicago too and like you, I needed a change. Pete is so amazing and I wouldn't change my life for anything."

"Any more kids?"

"We're good with two, since we have one of each."

"What about Justin and Olive?"

"They knew they were done after the twins were born. They agreed they wanted four kids and it worked out that they ended up with two of each."

"What about you and Liv?"

"Obviously we won't be havin' another one but we are approved to be foster parents. She has mentioned that she'd like to adopt again and I'm fine with that."

Then Olivia came out of her office.

"Hey you!"

"Hey."

Olivia kissed Hank.

"I told Voight that you seem to be handlin' Stabler leavin' again better than you did the last time."

"I still think I'm the reason he left again. He wanted me after Kathy died and because I'm the one married and happy, he had no other reason to be here. The fact that he refused to go to therapy and anger management was probably his excuse to leave."

"I take it that means you didn't hear from him for your birthday."

"No, I did not. Like I have said, I will believe he will stay in touch this time when I actually hear from him. If he meant it, I would have heard from him for my birthday. I tried with him but I didn't like the way he appeared to judge the way Hank and I are raising Noah and letting him do what activities he wants. It's none of his concern. We want him to be happy."

"I've been to his recitals and he's good."

"Thanks. He loves everyone's support. Justin said if his boys wanted to dance, he'd support it and Pete said he'd support Zach if he wanted to too."

"All 3 boys always love goin' to the recitals."

"Zach always comments on how good Noah is and Noah always shows up at Zach's games."

"Noah really tried with baseball but it just wasn't for him."

"Didn't he lose interest in that after Stone left?"

"For the most part and even Hank, Pete and Justin tried to keep him interested. He loves watching it and Hank takes him to at least one game a year, whether it's here or in Chicago, depending on the schedule. Serena loves watching sports with Daddy and both kids prefer the Chicago teams."

"Zach prefers the Chicago teams I like over Pete's Minnesota teams and Ellie will watch baseball but that's about it other than the Olympics. All the kids take after Hank."

"Zach plays baseball, right?"

"Yeah and so does Ethan. Daniel plays soccer. Olive wants to get the girls into something, so she's looking into tumbling classes and then maybe gymnastics. Ellie and Serena started there and got into dancing."

"So did Jesse. Billie at least likes gymnastics but so far she hasn't expressed any interest in dancing."

"You about ready? We still need to change for dinner and our reservation is at 5:30."

"I'm ready. I do need a shower though."

"Ok."

"Have a good weekend, you two."

"Thanks."

Olivia went to get her coat and purse and then she and Hank left. They headed to the hotel and got checked in. Olivia took a shower and then they both got ready. The carriage drive let Hank know he was there and then they went out.

"What did you do?"

"I just wanted this to be special."

"Anything with you is special."

"You look beautiful, by the way."

"Thank you. You look pretty handsome in your suit."

Hank helped her get into the carriage and then he got in next to her. He put the blanket on the two of them and then the carriage driver took them to the restaurant. When they arrived at the restaurant, the driver told Hank to let him know when they needed him again. Hank got out and helped Olivia out before they headed into the restaurant hand in hand. They were seated and then looked at the menu. Hank told her she could order whatever she wanted. They had their order taken and then they waited for their soup and salad.

Meanwhile Erin and Pete had picked up Noah and Serena and they met Justin, Olive and the kids at the burger place they were going to. They were seated and had their order taken. By the time they got their food, Noah took a couple bites but wasn't hungry anymore.

"You ok, Noah?"

"I guess I'm not hungry anymore. I was when you called though."

"You can take it home and have it tomorrow."

Everyone else ate and then Pete paid the bill. Then they left to head home. Hank and Olivia had finished their dinner and had dessert. Hank paid the bill and let the carriage driver know they were ready to go. Hank helped her with her coat and then they went outside. They got in the carriage again and then they took a romantic ride around the city. Hank had his arm around her to keep her warm and they shared kisses. Serena and Noah had both gotten ready for bed and Serena had come out to say goodnight to Noah. She went into her room and was going to read her book before she went to sleep. Noah was in his room as well but he was not feeling well at all. He was hot and felt sick to his stomach. He was having pains in his abdominal area as well. He all of a sudden had the urge to throw up. He went into the bathroom and did just that. Serena heard him, so she went to check on him.

"Noah, are you ok?"

"I don't feel good at all. I'm hot and sick to my stomach. I also hurt right here. I wish Mom and Dad were here."

Noah showed her where the pain was.

"You don't look so good."

"The pain is getting worse."

"Where's your phone?"

"On the table by my bed."

Serena went into Noah's room and got his phone. She then called 9-1-1. She told the operator her name and address and told her her mom was a cop. She also told the operator the problem. The operator asked if she wanted her to stay on the line until the ambulance got there and she said no. Serena hung up and found Erin's number in Noah's contacts.

"Hey, Noah. What's goin' on?"

"It's me Serena."

"What's goin' on?"

"Noah's really sick. He said he was hot, his tummy hurts really bad and he threw up. I called 9-1-1 and they're coming."

"Good girl. I'll call Justin and we'll be there as soon as we can. Stay with him until we get there."

"Ok."

Serena hung up and went back to Noah, who was laying on the floor in the bathroom.

"The ambulance is coming and so are Erin and Justin."

"Ok."

"I love you."

"I love you too.

Serena took Noah's hand. She heard the door open and both Erin and Justin ran up the stairs.

"You look like crap."

"I feel like crap."

"Where's the pain?"

Serena pointed to where Noah showed her where his pain was. Erin went back downstairs and waited for the paramedics, who had just arrived.

"Hey, Detective."

"Hey. It's my little brother, Noah. My little sister showed us where his pain was, so we're thinking it's probably his appendix. We all went out for dinner. He had a couple of bites of his burger and he was done. She said he told her he was hot, had bad stomach pains and felt sick to his stomach. He also threw up."

Justin had brought Noah downstairs just as the paramedics went inside. Justin put Noah on the gurney and then they checked his vitals.

"We're going to take him to Mercy."

"Ok. Erin, you go with him and I'll take her over to our house."

"I'm going too!"

"Ok, ok!"

"They sometimes leave the insurance card."

"I'll check and if not, then I'll have to call them."

The paramedics put Noah into the ambulance and Erin got in with him. They left and then Justin told Serena to go get dressed. She went upstairs, while he looked to see if the insurance card was there. He didn't see it. He went up to pack a bag for Noah and then he and Serena headed to the hospital. He dreaded having to call Hank and Olivia. They had gotten back to the hotel and were making love when Hank's phone rang. Olivia told him to ignore it but he saw it was Justin.

"Hey, Justin."

"Hey. Noah is on his way to Mercy in the ambulance and Erin is with him. I have Serena and we're headin' there now. I offered to take her to our house but she insisted on goin' with me."

"What happened?"

"We're pretty sure it's his appendix. He took a couple bites of his burger at dinner and was done. Serena called 9-1-1 and then she called Erin. He told her he was hot, felt sick to his stomach and had a lot of pain. She showed us where the pain was and it's in the area of his appendix. I looked for the insurance card but didn't see it. I know it's your special weekend with Mom but they will need the card."

"We will meet you there. Thanks for callin'."

"No problem."

Hank hung up and told Olivia what was going on. They got dressed and then they drove to the hospital. By the time they got there, Noah had already gone into surgery. They took care of the insurance stuff and then they went to the surgical waiting room where Justin, Erin and Serena were. Serena was almost asleep when they came in. Olivia took her and she put her head on her shoulder. She rubbed her back and then she fell asleep almost right away.

"Sorry we spoiled your night."

"It's ok. For the kids, we understand."

"Serena really took charge of the situation. She called 9-1-1 and then she called me. I said I'd call Justin and told her to stay with him until we got there."

"She told me she told the operator you were a cop."

"I'm glad she did."

"Noah is pretty upset because he thinks he let you down."

"He didn't let us down. Sometimes things happen that can't be helped. This is one of those things."

"When we were at the burger place, he took a couple bites and then he was done. Maybe we should have checked to make sure he was ok. We kept asking him and all he said was he was fine."

Hank looked at Olivia.

"He sounds like you. You say you're fine even when you're not."

"I do sometimes but I've been better at admitting when I'm not fine. I'm scared for our son right now."

Hank put his arm around Olivia and she put her head on his shoulder.

"He was hoping to wait until you got here but the doctor told him that wasn't advisable."

"Right because it could have ruptured. I'll have to see if I can listen to the call."

"She sounded scared but she didn't panic at all."

Olivia's phone rang, so she handed Serena to Hank and answered it. When she was done talking, she hung up.

"That was the 9-1-1 operator. She wanted to know how Noah was. When Serena gave her her name and said I was a cop, she put two and two together and knew it had to be me. She said she asked Serena if she wanted her to stay on the line until the paramedics got there and she said no. I said she knew she had to contact one of our older children. I explained they were by themselves. She told me Serena was very calm even though she could tell she was scared. I asked if I could listen to the call and she said she would send it as soon as she could. She said she's like to meet Serena sometime, since she sounds like such a little sweetheart."

"Who was it she talked to?"

"Tanya."

Then Pete came in and kissed Erin.

"How's Noah?"

"He's still in surgery."

"What did you do with the kids?"

"I took them over to Olive and Justin's. They were excited for a sleepover with their cousins."

"Whoever leaves first can take her too. I see she's wearing her clothes over her pajamas."

"At least she listened when I told her to get dressed. She was very insistent that she was coming to the hospital."

Hank couldn't help but laugh.

"She sounds like someone else I know."

"Who might that be?"

"I think you know."

Olivia rolled her eyes and then she smacked Hank. He then kissed her.

"I love you, you know that."

"I know you do and I love you too. She's a lot like both of us."

"Yep, she is."

"How was your night going so far?"

"It was amazing."

"You two should still have your weekend alone. Serena can stay with us."

"We better not. He needs us."

"We can wait until he gets out of surgery and then go back to the hotel for tonight. We'll come see him tomorrow."

"I can stay with him tonight. That's no problem. Unless I get a call."

"Then call me and I'll come stay with him."

"Or me, unless of course I get a call."

"I don't want you gettin' worked up and stressin' out over this."

"I know this weekend was supposed to be about us but I don't feel right leaving him."

"It's not like we're that far away. We're here now."

"Mom, we'll be fine. You and Dad need this. Noah will tell you the same thing."

"He would. It makes me sad that he's not a baby anymore and he doesn't need me as much as he used to."

"Our kids will always need us whether it's financially or when they need someone to babysit their kids."

"Except you love every minute of the time you spend with your grandkids."

"Yeah, I do especially now that I'm retired."

"I do too. I wouldn't be a grandma if I wasn't with you. Of course I never would have had a biological child if it wasn't for you either. Even as close to 8 as she is, she still loves to cuddle and she still loves to sleep with us sometimes."

"So does Daniel especially when he's sick."

I'm really proud of our youngest for how she handled things."

"Me too. I could see her bein' like you one day."

"I'm not so sure she wants to be a cop. As much as I love what I do, my job gets to me sometimes."

"You've been doin' it for about 25 years. That's a long time for doin' the same job especially in our line of work."

"You're right about that."

"Mine was startin' to get to me too. I'm glad I retired. I just wish I could spend more time in my retirement with you."

"I'll eventually get there too. I just want to be sure there's enough money for their educations and for everything else."

"We'll be fine financially."

They waited a while longer and then the surgeon came in.

"The family of Noah Voight."

"That's us."

"He's doing fine and in recovery right now. He should be here a day or two and no strenuous activities for a week or two but he will need to follow up with me before he resumes that. I will give you a note for school excusing him from gym class."

"Ok. How long should he stay home from school?"

"Maybe a day or two depending on how he feels. His discharge papers will have a list of foods he can and can't eat and all the instructions."

"Ok. Can we see him?"

"Absolutely."

Hank handed Serena to Justin and then he and Olivia went with the surgeon to see Noah. Justin left with Serena, while Pete stayed with Erin. They stayed with him until he was moved and then they left. Erin stayed with him, while Hank and Olivia went back to the hotel and Pete went home after he kissed Erin.

The next day, Hank and Olivia got up and had breakfast before they went to the hospital.

"Hey, Sweetie."

"Hey. I'm sorry I let you down and for ruining your weekend."

"Sweetie, you didn't let us down or ruin our weekend. Sometimes things can't be avoided. This is one of those things. We're proud of your sister for what she did though. The 9-1-1 operator called me last night and asked how you were and she said she'd like to meet Serena."

"Serena really stepped up last night. Were you here?"

"We were. Justin called and told us what happened. We also needed to bring the insurance card. We were here until they moved you. You pretty much slept that whole time. How do you feel?"

"Sore but better than I did last night."

"That's good."

Olivia and Hank both hugged Noah.

"Did Tanya ever send the 9-1-1 call?"

"I haven't checked yet."

Olivia checked her NYPD email, opened the message and listened to the call.

"That is amazing. She did everything she was supposed to. I'm so proud!"

"That's pretty cool!"

"We drilled it into their heads don't forget."

"I know but I never figured she'd be the one to do it."

Then Pete and Justin came in with Serena.

"You need to listen to this."

Olivia played the call for them.

"That's me."

"Yes, it is. Sweetie, I am so proud of you."

"I am too, kiddo."

"Thanks. I hope you're feeling better, Noah."

"I am but I'm sore though. Thanks."

"You're welcome."

Serena gently gave Noah a hug.

"I think it's cool. Olive and the kids send their love."

"Thanks. How long do I have to stay here?"

"The surgeon said a day or two and also, no strenuous activities for a week or two, which means no dancing."

"I know."

"You have to get cleared from him before you resume all that. He figures maybe a day or two off from school but that depends on how you feel. I'll stop at your school and get your assignments for the time you'll miss."

"Ok."

Then there was a knock at the door. It was Tanya, the 9-1-1 operator. She had a bunch of balloons for Noah.

"Hey, Tanya."

"Hello. I just wanted to see how Noah was."

"I'm doing better than I was last night but I'm sore though. Thank you for asking."

"You are very welcome and that's completely understandable. These are for you."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. I didn't think a plant or flowers were appropriate for a preteen boy but what kid doesn't like balloons?"

"I love balloons."

"That was so nice of you. This is Serena."

"Hi Miss Serena. I'm Tanya, the lady you talked to last night."

"Hi."

"You did a good job."

"Thank you."

"Thank you for sending that to me."

"No problem. How old is she?"

"She will be 8 in April. We drilled the 9-1-1 thing into their heads but made sure they know it's only for emergencies. We're starting to give Noah a little more responsibility with his sister, so we can have a night out or in the case of this weekend, a couple nights. I had a birthday the other day, so Hank made a reservation at a romantic restaurant last night and at a hotel for the weekend, so we could also celebrate Valentine's Day. This was the first time we were leaving them by themselves for more than a few hours. Erin and Justin are both close by and would of course check in with them. I'm sure Noah will get another chance to do this."

"I hope so."

"Happy belated birthday."

"Thank you."

"My husband would never do anything romantic like that. I'm lucky if he remembers my birthday. All he cares about is watching sports on TV when he comes home. Our kids are 15 and 13. Our son is the oldest and I would trust our daughter before I trusted him."

"What does your husband do?"

"He works for the Department of Sanitation."

"Good for him. How long have you been at the call center?"

"It'll be 23 years this year."

"Wow!"

"It's not easy."

"I'm sure it's not. Neither is what I do."

"I've gotten a lot of those calls. I get a lot of kids that call because their parent overdosed. I was still new when 9/11 happened. That was awful."

"Oh yeah. My friend at the Medical Examiner's office was working a lot of overtime then."

"I can imagine."

"They had asked for anyone that could help with crowd control to get out there and start helping to get people out of Lower Manhattan. A friend of ours, who is now retired from the NYPD and was with Internal Affairs for years, said he had been sent to Fresh Kills to start going through rubble looking for anything to identify victims."

"It was emotionally draining."

"It definitely was.

"What surprised me was the number of people tryin' to get out of Chicago too. There were 100-some firefighters from CFD that came out here to help."

"It's amazing how many first responders from across the country did come out here to help. Sometimes it seems like only yesterday."

"It sure does. I have a great deal of respect for the city's first responders."

"You do a lot too."

"I wanted to be able to help people but I didn't necessarily want to become a cop, firefighter/paramedic or someone in the medical field. I was a Psychology major, so I decided on working in a call center, so I could help people that way. Maybe it's the mom in me but I seem to take calls involving kids more personally than others."

"The cases we have had involving kids I take personally also but I did even before I was a mom. Serena's class is always looking for different places to go on field trips and her teacher asked if I had any ideas on places. I was thinking about suggesting the 9-1-1 call center.

"We would love to have them there. Kids are never too young to learn about that. I'll talk to my boss about it and let you know."

"Great. Serena, would you like to see what actually goes on at the 9-1-1 call center?"

"Yeah. Can you or Daddy be there when we go?"

"It's not official yet but it'll probably be me."

"That'll be fun. Will you be there too, Miss Tanya?"

"I will make sure I am just for you, ok?"

"Ok."

"Is this most of the family?"

"With the exception of our daughter-in-law and grandkids, yes.

"How long were you married the first time?"

"About 20 years. She passed away from ovarian cancer 14 years ago."

"I am so sorry."

"Thanks."

"Do you just have the one son?"

"Justin was actually a twin but his sister was a stillborn. That was hard to deal with. I had a one night stand before I even met Camille and that resulted in Erin but I didn't know she was mine until years later. She came to live with us when she was 15. Justin was about 7 at the time. Erin has always been a daughter to me but she was relieved when it turned out we actually shared the same genes."

"I was surprised when Bunny finally admitted it but with her history of lying, I wanted to have it confirmed."

"I don't blame you for feelin' that way."

"Justin, how many kids do you have?"

"We have 4. Daniel, our oldest will be 9 in May, Ethan will be 6 in June and Natalie and Ava will be 3 in March. Daniel and Ethan's birthdays are a couple weeks apart."

"What about you, Erin?"

"We have 2. Zach and Ellie are twins and they'll be 6 in April."

"Did you name your kids after anyone?"

"Daniel is after my maternal grandpa and his middle name is Justin. We both liked the name Ethan and his middle name is Henry after my dad. Olive really isn't close to anyone in her family except her sister, Natalie, who lives in Scottsdale, so the girls are named after her. Her sister's middle name is Ava. Natalie's middle name is Olivia and Ava's is Camille after my mom."

"Both of our kids' middle names are after Grandma Olivia. Zachary's middle name is Oliver and Ellie's is Margaret. Zach is Pete's best friend's name and his grandma's name was Eleanor, so decided on Ellie to honor her."

"Serena is named after both mothers. My mother was Serena and his mother was Margaret but that's also my middle name. Noah is adopted but his mother's last name was Porter, so that is down as his middle name."

"My real parents were not that good. My mom was a drug addict and a prostitute and my dad was a sex trafficker. They're both dead now. This my family. Like Mom always says, it's not blood that makes a family. Love is. Serena is hers biologically but it doesn't mean she loves me any less and she loves Justin and Erin just as much."

"You do listen to me!"

Noah rolled his eyes at Olivia and she gave him a hug.

"Do you remember hearing about Johnny D?"

"I do."

"I found out that he was Noah's biological father through my friend at the ME's office. They ran Johnny's DNA and there was a match. I could not believe it when she told me it was Noah's. Rafael Barba, the ADA at the time, told me not to say anything but I didn't want anything to jeopardize the adoption. I told Internal Affairs that my wanting to get justice for those girls had nothing to do with me wanting to adopt Noah. I told the lawyer, who was helping with the adoption that we found out who Noah's dad was. When Johnny's lawyer found out, he was trying to say that the only reason I wanted his Client to go to prison was so I could adopt his son. He was trying to prevent me from adopting him. Barba said if Johnny was able get visitation, I could have had to take Noah to visit him in prison until he was 18. He grabbed a Court Officer's gun during the trial and started shooting. He injured one Court Officer and the Judge and killed the other Court Officer. Nick Amaro, who was one of my Detectives, shot and killed Johnny D but ended up getting injured himself. He retired and moved to California to be closer to his kids. He went back to school and started his own company now. He married his son's mother. His son is the older one but I'm glad he's happy. I hear from him all the time but about a year and a half ago he needed help with something that was related to an old case. He was working with an ex of mine on this and things got a little awkward."

"Does he still have feelings for you?"

"He basically wanted something to happen between us again but I take my marriage vows seriously and I don't keep anything from Hank. My former partner came back into my life after a decade of not hearing from him and I think he had hoped that I was going to be single. His wife was seriously injured in a car explosion and later died. He's had a lot to deal with regarding that and I told him that I would help him get through it. He basically admitted he had feelings for me. I told him I wasn't interested in him romantically and he had to accept that. It took him a while and he finally did but he didn't completely support how we were raising our kids. Noah is a dancer and Elliot seemed to have a problem with that."

"Why, because a boy would rather dance than play sports?"

"Pretty much.

"There's nothing wrong with that at all."

"Exactly. When he first came to me and told me he wanted to dance, he wasn't sure how to approach Hank with it because he really didn't think his dad would support it. I was there when he told Hank and he was nothing but supportive. He told him to do whatever makes him happy. Justin has been so supportive of it too and said he would support his sons if they told him they wanted to dance."

"My husband wouldn't be supportive of our son wanting to dance but if our daughter said she wanted to play football, he'd be all for it. Both of my kids are into basketball. I'd support them with whatever choices they made unless that meant joining a gang."

"We're the same way with these two and our grandkids. Noah told us these older boys at school were giving him a hard time because he danced but another older boy defended Noah and said there was nothing wrong with a guy wanting to dance. Noah knew him before this incident because of dance but they had never really hung out or anything until then. The other guys were then giving them both a hard time and saying negative things about them. Noah fired back and told them they would probably end up being someone I arrested because of the way they treat people. Ever since they have left them alone. Noah became friends with Jordan after that, so he and his friends hang out with Jordan and his friends. Jordan is in 7th grade but the boys giving them a hard time are in 8th."

"Good for you, Noah. Are most of your friends dancers too?"

"I have some that are and some that aren't. So does Jordan. The ones that aren't are really cool about it and they come to our recitals and stuff like that."

Olivia's phone rang and she looked to see who it was.

"Hello, Jordan."

"Hey, Captain Voight. My sister said she saw an ambulance in front of your house last night. I've tried calling and texting Noah today and he hasn't answered or returned my messages. Is everything ok?"

"Everything is fine. Noah ended up having to have an appendectomy last night. He's at Mercy and would love to have people come see him. He'll probably be here a day or two."

"I'll see if my mom can bring me over later."

"I'm sure he'll be happy to see you. Do you want to talk to him?"

"If it's not a problem."

"No problem at all."

"Thanks."

"You're welcome."

"Hold on."

Olivia took her phone over to Noah, so he could talk to Jordan. After Noah was done talking, he hung up.

"Thanks, Mom."

"Sure. I haven't called the squad to let them know."

"I was texting back and forth with Amanda last night, so I'm sure everyone else knows. I need to grab a shower and something to eat."

"I haven't eaten yet anyway."

"I should head home too. Olive wanted to come see Noah too."

Then Olive came in with Ed and Al.

"How are you feeling, Noah?"

"I'm better but still sore. Thanks for asking."

"You're welcome."

Olive hugged Noah and both Al and Ed did a fist bump with him.

"Is Meredith with the kids?"

"Yes, she is."

"I just mentioned that I should head home because you wanted to see Noah."

"Is everyone behaving themselves?"

"Yeah. The boys were playing together and Ellie was playing with Natalie and Ava."

"Good."

"Justin texted us last night and told us what happened."

"Al then texted me."

"Tanya, this is our daughter-in-law, Olive. This Hank's best friend, Alvin Olinsky and this is Ed Tucker, the one I told you went to Fresh Kills after 9/11. This is Tanya, one of the 9-1-1 operators. She's the one that took the call when Serena called last night."

"Nice to meet you."

"You too. I should probably get going."

"Thank you for coming by and for the balloons."

"You're welcome. It was nice meeting all of you and Captain, I will inquire about the kids visiting the call center. I'll get back to you as soon as I can."

"Thank you."

Tanya left and then Erin and Pete did too. Olivia played the 9-1-1 call for them to listen to.

"That's amazing."

"Good job, kiddo."

"That's somethin' to be proud as parents and I can definitely tell you two are."

"I am."

"Yeah, me too."

"What would have happened if you two had gone out of town when this happened?"

"Then they would have had to call us to get the insurance info over the phone. Next time, we will be sure to leave a card at home."

"That works."

"Mommy."

"What?"

"When Ellie sleeps over next weekend, can Jesse and Billie sleep over too?"

"I don't have a problem with it."

Serena got Hank's lap and kissed his cheek.

"Daddy."

"Uh huh."

"What do you think?"

"It's fine with me too."

"Thank you."

Serena left and went to the washroom.

"Boy, does she have you wrapped around her little finger. Actually, all the females in this family do."

"Maybe so but there is nothing I wouldn't do for the rest of you and that includes everyone not in the family."

"He's always been that way and I've known him longer than anyone."

"Yep."

Mostly everyone stayed for a while longer. Hank and Olivia left and decided to check out of the hotel. Justin and Olive left with Serena and then Al and Ed left too. Olivia's squad had come to visit and then Noah's friend Jordan did as well.

That night, Olivia stayed with Noah, while Hank spent some time with Serena. They released Noah on Sunday afternoon. The rest of the weekend went quickly. On Monday morning, Olivia dropped Serena off at school and went to Noah's school to tell them what had happened. She was able to get his assignments for a few days. She had talked to Amanda and Sonny about Jesse and Billie sleeping over that weekend. They did not have a problem with it. Olivia had heard from Tanya that the kids could visit the call center but they would need to call to schedule something. She then called Serena's teacher to let her know the details. She said that was a great idea and Serena had told her about what had happened over the weekend.

By the middle of the week, Noah had gone back to school with whatever restrictions he had. By the end of the week, Justin and Olive and Erin and Pete all went away for their respective weekends, while Hank and Olivia had all the kids, including Jesse and Billie. It was a chaotic weekend but everyone had fun and Hank and Olivia enjoyed every minute of spending that time with their two youngest kids and their grandchildren.
