Ch23
Third Person POV
The spears collided, generating an immense amount of energy at the point of impact.
For a moment, a tiny black hole appeared but became unstable and broke down, creating an explosion that cleared all weak lifeforms in the entire ecosystem of this portion of the underworld.
The destruction was the result of two beings capable of destroying countries, bringing out their most destructive attacks. The space around the collision point was also broken.
The dust rose high, almost like an atomic bomb had been dropped. When the smoke cleared, two silhouettes were seen.
Cain was still standing while Kokabiel was on his knees, bleeding profusely and looking like he was about to die.
"Well, it looks like darklight is stronger than light."
Cain said and released a slash from his scythe that reached Kokabiel. The strike didn't hit Kokabiel's head as Cain intended but slashed his abdomen.
Cain looked at the fallen angel who intervened and saved Kokabiel and said,
"Birds of the same feather do flock together, I guess."
The blood from the cut touched the scythe, which seemed to have a life of its own and released humongous amounts of energy.
Cain was surprised.
'Looks like this really is some big-shot weapon.'
Although surprised, Cain directed the energy toward forming a massive scythe in the air behind him.
The scythe gave off a purple, sinister aura, as though death itself had manifested. Cain swung the scythe down like a judge.
"Limited Death." Cain calmly uttered.
With his command, the scythe sliced toward Kokabiel and Shemazai.
"Well, it looks like the new Lucifer is quite strong. Prepare to give your all if you want to survive, Kokabiel."
Shemazai created a barrier of light, and Kokabiel pushed himself to help maintain it. Both braced for impact.
Shatter!*
The barrier shattered as the humongous scythe made contact, but it also caused the scythe to lose its shape, barely protecting the two cadres.
Cain remained in a combat stance, prepared to fight two ten-winged fallen angels if necessary. From his knowledge, Shemazai was a ruler, not a strong combatant, even though he was a cadre.
'Most probably, the two will retreat. Although I lost the chance to increase my skills further, I managed to awaken a strong weapon. I'll consider this a fair exchange.'
As Cain was calculating his gains from the battle, Shemazai called out to him.
"How about we call this off now, Lucifer's child? Continuing this fight will harm both sides. I've informed the other cadres before coming."
"Yeah, sure. I was just trying my scythe skills and clan trait. It was a fun match. See you crows later."
With that, Cain used his newly developed teleportation technique. However, he didn't know the unstable space from the battle would affect it. Cain, lacking space affinity or special eye powers, failed to notice the disturbance.
He was teleported to a random location inside the dimensional gap.
"What the actual fu*k! What happened?"
Cain felt strange, seeing kaleidoscopic patterns of various colors swirling around him.
"How come I'm in the dimensional gap and not in my castle? Did I accidentally f*ck up the spell?"
Cain was extremely confused.
"If this goes on, I'll be lost in this endless space. I need to find a way out."
Cain unfurled his devil wings and stabilized himself. Using his scythe imbued with large amounts of demonic energy, he cut open space and escaped through it.
He hoped he would land somewhere habitable enough to teleport back.
…
In a desolate land with no vegetation or life as far as the eye could see, a lone figure walked briskly as if the harsh climate were just another Tuesday to him.
After arriving, Cain chose a direction and began walking, hoping to find civilization. Though capable of teleporting back to the underworld, curiosity got the better of him.
'The dimensional gap is vast; maybe there's sentient life here.'
Thus, Cain expanded the scope of his adventure, enduring the harsh climate without stopping.
"Aaaargh! Is there really civilization here, or am I just wasting time? I'm not flying to conserve energy."
On the horizon, Cain saw a settlement that grew into an entire town as he approached. Excited, he sprinted at incredible speed.
He confirmed it wasn't a mirage using magic to verify the structures.
Near the entrance, Cain saw two strange beings with pitch-black bodies and white tattoo-like lines. They had long nails, two horns, purple hair, and sharp wolf-like teeth.
A short line of similar beings waited at the entrance.
'Looks like a new race. Time to disguise myself.'
Cain used devil magic to transform into one of them, then joined the queue. Surprisingly, he understood their language.
'Silver tongue coming in clutch, baby.'
When it was Cain's turn, the guards asked,
"Name?"
"Lucifer."
Cain replied, testing their reaction.
The guard showed no reaction, confirming they knew nothing of the outside world.
The guard handed Cain a token.
"This is valid for seven days. Cause any trouble, and the death penalty applies."
Cain was surprised by the harsh rule but reasoned,
'They do look like barbarians.'
He nodded and entered the town. Unbeknownst to Cain, the guards suspected he wasn't one of them and reported it to their superiors.
Cain, unaware, headed straight for the library, reading books on the world's history.
…
Cain was shocked.
'This world's history is as old as the DxD world. How was this place undiscovered?'
He learned that demons ruled here under seven leaders:
- Superbia
- Avaritia
- Luxuria
- Invidia
- Gula
- Ira
- Acedia
'Talk about similarities between demons and devils.'
Satisfied, Cain visited a tavern to eat and rest before returning to the underworld.
'I can come back to explore and strengthen myself here. No one can stop me from fighting.'
Cain was thrilled. His growth had stalled at the Satan class, but here he found new opportunities.
…
After a large meal, Cain went to pay at the counter.
"How was our hospitality, stranger?"
The demon asked.
'Looks like they caught me.'
"I enjoyed myself, but this is going to get annoying soon."
Cain said calmly despite being surrounded.
"Why so calm, outsider? Do you think you'll be fine?"
"It's alright. You guys are weak."
Cain dispelled his transformation and readied his scythe.
The demons lunged, confident in their powerful bodies, but Cain's scythe was anything but ordinary.
Slice!*
Three demons were cut in half, yet their upper halves still moved.
"Impressive vitality. More suffering for you."
The demons fought relentlessly, their unity making them fearsome foes.
'They won't stop unless I kill them all.'
Half-spent from his earlier battle, Cain decided.
'I'll destroy the town and leave.'
Cain unleashed destructive attacks, but the demons sacrificed themselves to protect the town.
"You love your town, huh? Not my concern."
The leader declared,
"The last outsider killed half our race for experiments."
Cain replied,
"Sounds like a you problem. But here's the difference between that guy and me."
"What's that?"
"He killed half. I'll make your race extinct."
Cain summoned a massive scythe and unleashed darklight weapons, slaying hundreds in a single strike.
In minutes, the entire town was painted red with demon blood.
Floating above the carnage, Cain said.
"First time I let Wrath loose. Lust and pride are easy to satisfy, but wrath? Not without going ballistic."
Cain dropped a colossal spear, erasing all traces of the town.
'No holding back here.'
With that, Cain teleported to his castle garden in Lucifaad, nearly drained of energy.
…
Cain's maids bombarded him with questions.
"I'm fine, just slaughtered some demons."
Melissa pouted.
"There's no such race."
"Think what you want."
After the others left, Cain turned to Grayfia.
"Tomorrow, we're going on a date in the human world."
He said, leaving Grayfia blushing and shocked.
'She deserves it for being such a good maid.'
