"Ideals are strengthened by the challenges they endure."
While The Courier was trudging along in Hell, someone else was very busy in Heaven. It was Adam, leader of the Exorcists and the first man. The First Man was sitting in his office, looking at a clock, bored when he heard a knock on his door. Adam looked up, annoyed.
"The fuck do you-" He quickly shut up as he saw his higherup, Sera at his desk.
"Apologies Ma'am. What do you need?" He quickly cleared his throat, steeling his fingers together.
Sera planted a file onto Adam's desk, looking mildly concerned. "This file is about that armored sinner that you met in the Embassy. I want you to look into him."
"Aw c'mon Sera, you really think this piece of shit is a threat? I bet he couldn't land a scratch on our Exorcists." Adam, noticing Sera's gaze, quickly changed course.
"However, if it'll make you feel better, I'll look into him and see what his deal is. At least if we don't kill him in our….raid-" Adam grinned at the thought of another Extermination, even if it was limited to only a specific group of demons, so soon after the last. Sera frowned disapprovingly and interrupted to clarify.
"This will be a minor operation, we want him alive."
"Psssh, fuckin' relax Sera, I know what the fuck I'm doing here, I'm a fuckin' pro!" Adam waved his hand dismissively, unconcerned. Sera pinched the bridge of her nose, irritated, but not commenting on it. She left as Adam flipped through the file in her absence.
"Courier 6 eh? How fuckin' unique." Adam looked at the photos inside, unimpressed at first. It seemed The Courier had been spotted in Hell around a week ago, and was staying at the Hazbin Hotel, something that made Adam wrinkle his nose.
What really surprised Adam was a flash of light in a field outside the city, with The Courier appearing immediately afterwards. He now understood why Sera wanted The Courier. He got up and stretched, placing the file on his desk, leaving The Courier's story in the back of his mind unwisely, as he finally decided now was the time to handpick a team for this mini-extermination as he left his office.
Arriving at the Exorcist HQ, the guards raised their swords up at the sight of Adam in a show of respect, as he entered the building. He had the exorcists line up side by side as he checked their files, reported combat efficacy, and took mental notes. His first choice being Lute, his lieutenant and a favorite of his, who joined at his side as he quickly shuffled through papers, he didn't have any other obvious picks, being cautious to only enlist those he felt to be most qualified.
By the day's end, with some napkin paper math, he had found 6 worthy candidates, along with Lute. They were some of his most highly-trained and loyal soldiers, and he knew they would do perfectly as they were told about who this "Courier 6" was, after the short briefing he returned to his office, finalizing the paperwork for his picks for the mission, examining the photos of The Courier, making mental notes of presumed weak points in the armor, and tierlisting his small battalion of heavenly Valkyries.
While The Courier may not have anything considered "Blessed", Adam still wanted to be careful to not underestimate his enemy, even if realistically any one of his soldiers could tear through them with their arms tied behind their back; He still erred on the side of over-preparedness, not having seen armor like that in his thousands of years of service and wanting to make quick work of the hotel's residents if they decided to attack.
"You're about to find out why you don't fuck with Adam…" He stared at the helmeted figure for a long time, before a knock on the door jolted him to his senses. Looking up and seeing that it was Lute. Adam quickly closed the file.
"Hey Sugar Tits, what's up?"
"We need you at HQ, one of your picks…is having second thoughts." She sounded annoyed.
"Of fucking course." Adam got up and cracked his neck, sighing in relief as he heard a loud pop, following Lute and arriving at the HQ within minutes.
"Alright, who the fuck is it?" He looked around, the Exorcists stood in formation. One of them piped up, her voice trembling,
"W-well, uhm, s-sir, it's just that, well, d-do we really need to go after them, just because one of them flipped you off?"
Adam had his mouth open in a comical "o", staring at the Exorcist. It took him a bit to recover, his mask returning to its default smile.
"Of fucking course we have to, we aren't gonna let them think that we're a bunch of fucking pushover bitches, sitting pretty here are we? Let them think that they're better than us?" he said condescendingly, "Y'know what?" pausing as he scrutinized the crowd before pointing at one at random. "You take her fucking place!" The Exorcist who spoke up bowed her head slightly and returned to the lines of soldiers.
The chosen exorcist flutters up to Adam's side where he asked if she wanted to replace the previous exorcist, she nods affirmatively. "Now, that's what I like to see!" he pauses slightly as they stand around. "Dismissed..." The crowd shrunk back and slowly resumed their daily activities as the matter at hand was over. Adam turned to Lute, annoyed at having to update the orders.
"If another one gets cold feet, demote them, NOT taking anymore of this shit right when we're a few days away." Lute nodded, with Adam walking out of the HQ for the 2nd time today.
After I'm done with this story(which will probably take months), I'm considering doing a Skyrim x HH Crossover, with the Dragonborn in it. (Not surprising since I'm a Bethesda fan.)
