She doesn't really know what compelled her to go clubbing with him, but for some reason she just couldn't resist. They met up at Shaw's to down a few shots of liquid courage before making their way towards Club Equinox. She has work in the morning, yet here she is, grinding into him on the dance floor. She turns draping her hands around his neck pulling him into hungry kiss. The friction of their bodies become unbearable as their tongues dance. She bites him a little as her hands pull and scratch the back of his head while he holds her waist tightly. It may be the whiskey talking, but she caresses his cheek and whispers in his ear.

"Wanna get out of here?" she asks in a sultry tone.

He takes her hand, and they leave. When they get to his apartment, all thoughts and logic fly out the window. She pushes him against the wall and mash her lips to his. He carefully pushes off the wall as she pulls him to the living room. Her arms still tightly hold his neck as he begins to caress her waist before grabbing her thighs. She jumps into his arms as he carries her into the bedroom.

It's not the first time she's slept with him. Sometimes they're at her place. Sometimes they're at his. Each time though, she either rushes out or pushes him out the door. They've dated in the past, but even now, years later, she still feels like she needs to keep her guard up. She doesn't want to love too much. She feels too broken and thinks he deserves better.

This morning, however, she's slow to get up. She feels warm and cozy under his comforter. His arms snake around her waist. Their legs tangle with each other in the sheets as he leans up and kisses her bare back.

"Mhmmm what time is it?" she groggily asks.

"Just after nine," he whispers.

Her eyes widen and she hurriedly gets up.

"Nine?! Shit, Dick, I have a League meeting at 9:30! I have to go back to my place and get ready!"

She pushes him off her and jumps out of bed. Frantically, she scours the floor and finds her panties and dress. In a rush, she just puts on his t-shirt and opens the door about to leave. But he stops her with just a simple question.

"Do you really have to go?"

She pauses and looks at him.

"I mean. Do you really have to rush out like this again?"

She relaxes and continues to stare not really sure how to answer.

"Y'know I was wondering. We've been doing this for a while now. I know we're technically not together, but um…I'd like to be."

Looking at him now, Zatanna suddenly feels at peace. The sunlight from the window backlights his frazzled hair. His candor and sweet smile worm their way into her heart. The more she looks at him, the more she wants to hold him like when they were younger. Here he is offering his heart. All she wants to do is reach out and grab it.

"I just think," he continues, "that maybe you don't have to rush y'know, if you left a toothbrush at my place. I really like you, Zee. I've always liked you even after we broke up. And I just can't let this go because I don't want this to end."

Standing there, in her underwear, in his t-shirt from the night before, with her messed-up hair and her feet still bare, she closes the bedroom door. She drops her dress onto the ground and climbs back into bed with him. Her mind is screaming at her to just go, but her heart is begging her to give him a chance. She straddles him and holds his face. Leave it to Dick flippin Grayson to melt her walls and convince her to love again. Now that she thinks about it, he is probably the only other man she could ever love.

"Well?" he asks, "am I a little too chalant here?"

Smiling, she kisses him and pushes him back onto the bed.

"There's no need to question anymore. I know and you know that I'm coming home with you tonight, and every night after."

They tangle in the sheets again, playing the moment on repeat.
